2nd Annual Sons of Speed Race

More than a dozen vintage-powered race bikes re-created the board track races of the early 20th Century at the second Sons of Speed race on October 21. The event took place at New Smyrna Speedway during the Daytona Beach, Florida’s Biketoberfest. Billy runs a heat in period gear. This fresh yet nostalgic race event, instigated by Billy Lane of Choppers Inc., first ran in March of this year during Daytona Bike Week on New Smyrna’s banked half-mile asphalt track. That time, Brittney Olson took first, followed by Matt Harris in second and Shelly Rossmeyer-Pepe in third. Olsen sat out this round while her bike was being repaired but acted as Grand Marshal for this day. Click here to read the rest of the Sons of Speed article.

SUPPORT SUNDAY POST for November 26, 2017

Hey, I’m thinking about the New Year and how to approach it. What the hell do we do, correct, fight or walk away from? This would be a good topic for Tony Sanfelipo. I feel like the message needs to be facebook simple and direct. I listened to an interview by an author about federalism and how the state governors could get together and fix the nation. I listen and read a lot. We are going in lots of directions as you will see portrayed in the news from time to time. I suppose we need to find a way and find a message that will cause young and old to spring to life and fight for Freedom once more. Click here to read the Support Sunday Post. ‘Justice League’ scrapped Batman Motorcycle Design Revealed

Batman has some cool vehicles in Justice League and while the Batmobile and the Flying Fox get some much-deserved screen time in the film, the Dark Knight could have had an awesome motorcycle, too. Justice League production designer Patrick Tatopoulos shared a few sketches on his personal Instagram earlier today of a concept he had for a Batbike. You can check out the post below. The idea of Batman having an elaborate and unique-looking bike isn’t new. In 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, Batman had an epic if not unusual motorcycle that the rider practically had to lay on in order to and operated on two, very wide tires. It also had some pretty cool tricks, but it lacked an overall “Batman” look to it. Tatopoulos’s design remedies that by giving the motorcycle a distinctive and angular feel with lots of references to the shape of bat wings. The top sketch even has a seat that looks strikingly like the bat symbol or a batarang, and while the sketches don’t show wheels, the whole vehicle appears to have smaller profile which would give it dexterity for whatever chase Batman is on. It looks like there’s plenty of places for neat tools and weapons to be tucked away. It also looks like it would fit in nicely on the Flying Fox which itself is a unique vehicle. Tatopoulos recently shared concept art for the plane with the LA Times, revealing that some simple changes to the aircraft’s design had given it a look closer to that of Batman’s Batmobile, specifically by moving the placement of the cockpit. “That little movement made it special,” Tatopoulos said. “It started to make it more like the Batmobile.” However, it doesn’t appear that this Batbike is going to be parked next the Batmobile or part

THANKSGIVING BIKERNET MAGNIFICENT NEWS for November 22, 2017

Hey, In this harried world this is the week to give thanks and to think about your year and those who have helped out. I piss and moan about the government and regulations, and I contend they don’t get the mantra, Freedom. But on the other hand, America is wonderful, full of resources, friends, open roads and cool motorcycles. I should reword that. It’s not just America but the motorcycle community all over the world. Bikers, builders, dirt bike riders and racers understand Freedom and love it. We work together, share resources, fight for freedom and struggle together. I want to thank all the Biker’s Rights members and leaders for keeping us in the game. I want to thank all the manufacturers for their efforts to share motorcycling with a younger audience. I want to thank all our readers, all the creative builders out there, all the bike show promoters and all the custom parts manufacturers who are struggling but doing what they love. I had a meeting with Hugh King regarding another build-off series but with a twist. We are going to take a guy’s bike and alter it. No ground-ups to begin with. We are going to celebrate craftsmen all over the world. Thank you, and everyone for the love of two-wheeled freedom forever!   Click here to read the rest of the news and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Trippin’ on Trikes

From Mild to Wild, From Old to Bold Story and Photos by Paul Garson By definition, depending on who you ask, a trike is anything with three wheels powered by a motor of some kind which basically leaves it up to one’s perspective…and imagination. Size, seating capacity, engine make, original build year and displacement, suspension, accessories, trim and colors are open for interpretation…and varying Federal and state regulations. We’ve seen them in the dirt, on the street, on the track and even in the air. CLICK TO READ the Feature Story
