Travis Pastrana To Jump An Indian Scout FTR750

Legendary rider/skater/driver and all-around stunt man Travis Pastrana will be jumping an Indian Scout FTR750 when he looks to pay tribute to Evel Knievel, the founding father of motorcycle stunts, and surpass America’s most iconic daredevil. “Evel Live”, as three-hour live event premiering Sunday, July 8th at 8PM ET/ 5PM PT on HISTORY in partnership with Nitro Circus, will see Travis Pastrana attempt three of Knievel’s most famed jumps on the Scout FTR750, including jumping the length of 52+ crushed cars, 16 Greyhound busses, and the ill-fated Caesars Palace fountain jump that left Knievel grasping for his life. If successful, Pastrana will be the first individual to complete all three jumps in one three-hour timespan and on a motorcycle similar to those Evel used. The Indian Scout FTR750 is a flat track racing motorcycle designed to push the boundaries of speed and redefine control with two wheels firmly on the ground. Rewinding time, you find the motorcycles Evel jumped were designed for similar purposes. However, neither were intended for jumping. “It was extremely important to use a motorcycle similar to the ones Evel jumped. The Indian Scout FTR 750 is just that, a modern-day evolution of the flat track motorcycles of the past,” said Pastrana. “It has the power I need and handles well, but I’m only going to have a few days to get comfortable on it, not to mention I’ve never jumped a V-twin before. I’ve got my work cut out, but we’re used to going big at Nitro Circus, so we’ll make it happen.” The Indian Scout FTR750 is far different from the lightweight motocross bikes you would typically find Travis Pastrana jumping. The engine of the FTR750 features a powerful 750cc 53-degree V-Twin and utilizes 43mm conventional front suspension with an adjustable Ohlin’s mono-shock on the rear. Introduced […]

BALANCED BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for May 10, 2018

Hey, I often say we’re living is strange times. They are actually super-strange. It started with Helmet Laws in the ‘70s. The government just couldn’t allow freedom so Joan Claybrook came up with the Public Burden Theory. Accidents cost the public, quick pass a law. Some brothers still won’t go for the pay for insurance deal, to retain their freedom to choose. Some motorcycle rights organizations won’t fight for our freedom to choose and they buckled to insurance company threats. Maybe they wanted to make more money selling helmets? I don’t get it. Bikernet Bike Feature — Funky Panhead 2017

“Yo,” Brad said. “I need to recoup some of my investment. Do you need a Panhead engine?” I about shit my pants. I had just scored a sharp rigid frame, a set of fatbobs, and I knew I had a 5-speed Softail transmission at the Bikernet Headquarters. What the fuck? Hell yes, I needed a Panhead engine! As it turned out, the engine was seriously incomplete, but with a good twist. The ’69, last kidney, Shovelhead right case was mated to a ’79 left case, which would allow me to run an alternator and Evo primaries. I hauled ass home from the swap meet and started to dig through drawers, cabinets, and lockers looking for parts. Read more.

Indian’s Scout FTR750 Sweeps Podium at Calistoga Half-Mile

In a night that saw nine Scout FTR750’s compete in the Main, Indian Motorcycle Racing’s Championship-winning race bike swept the podium at the Calistoga Half-Mile. Reigning 2017 American Flat Track (AFT) Champion Jared Mees edged out Roof Systems/Indian Motorcycle of Metro Milwaukee privateer Jeffrey Carver Jr. for his second consecutive first-place finish. Nila Racing/Columbia Avionics privateer Kenny Coolbeth Jr. placed third. Through the first few laps of the Main, Mees worked his way through traffic, ultimately passing Carver rounding a turn. Carver remained close behind and made several passing attempts in the final laps. Mees held on to edge our Carver and place atop of the podium yet again. “Following a third-place finish in the Semi, we made some slight adjustments before the Main,” said Mees. “It worked out well, and we were able to hold off Jeffrey. He was running fast all night. We’re stoked to come away with a win here, and look forward to the first mile of the season next weekend in Arizona.” Indian Motorcycle finished with seven Scout FTR750’s in the top 10, including all top five positions. Wrecking Crew rider Brad Baker bounced back after suffering a minor concussion in Texas with a strong fourth-place finish. In his first race on the Scout FTR750, privateer Davis Fisher locked in the fifth-place position. “It was an exciting night of racing, with a number of Scout FTR750 riders running fast,” said Gary Gray, Vice President – Racing, Technology & Service for Indian Motorcycle. “It was pretty cool to see Davis place in the top five in his first race on the FTR750. Coolbeth made some impressive passes to get to third, and Carver sure gave Mees a run for his money. I think this is a taste of what we all can expect over these next
