Hey,
It’s never a dull moment around the headquarters. This seems to be a week of innovation and new product testing.
Never give up should be everyone’s mantra in life. Never give up on your health, your relationships, your education and your motorcycle. I’ve been challenged by a particular motorcycle. It’s never run right. I loved building this bike. It was my first experience with big wheels. But it sputtered at about 25-30 mph and I couldn’t figure it out.
With the help of Keith Ruxton, James Simonelli, at Biker’s Choice and Frank Aliano, I’m about to pull the plug the trigger on another test. You should see the results next week. I’ve faced a number of Never Give Up challenges this year and we’re knocking down the obstacles to success one by one. Hang on for more reports.
The Bikernet Weekly News is proudly sponsored by the following good folks in our Industry, including: Cycle Source Magazine, Iron Trader News, Motorcycle Riders Foundation, and Las Vegas BikeFest.
MOVIE RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK– ‘Joy’ – it’s quite a good film but one has to hang with it for about an hour – then it all of a sudden becomes an intriguing story. Has a heck of a cast.
Reminds me of the crushing obstacles and mine-field of un-scrupulous competitors and nasty, outright criminal vendors and contractors I’ve dealt with in small business over the years.

QUICK, OPEN THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY– A Jewish grandmother is giving directions to her grown grandson who is coming to visit with his wife.
“You come to the front door of the apartments. I am in apartment 301. There is a big panel at the front door. With your elbow, push button 301. I will buzz you in. Come inside and elevator buttons are on the right. Get in, and with your elbow, push 3rd Floor. When you get out, I’m on the left. With your elbow, hit my doorbell.
“Okay Grandma, that sounds easy, but, why am I hitting all these buttons with my elbow?

BIKERNET BAGGERS DEAL OF THE WEEK–
It was great seeing you at Kings Hawaiian Restaurant Wednesday, where the staff talks about all the Jalapeno bread you buy. We should have lunch together someday.
A good day would be when you sell my low-mileage Road Glide for $10.000.00.
I met with Bob Bitchin at an Adventurous Society Club lecture last year. Bob was the speaker who spoke on his adventures as a dumb biker who owned and later sold his Biker & Tattoo magazine. His career change was to sail his new yacht around the world.
He spoke of his sailing experiences in the islands of the South Seas, Asian Ocean, Mexican Riviera, Islands of Malaysia, Corsica, Greece, Antigua, et cetera and how you helped him out numerous times. It was great seeing Bitchin who now lives in some Northern California mountain with Jody.

1979 HONDA CX500 restoration BOOK OF THE WEEK– Ricky Burns’ Enthusiast Restoration Manual has been put to very good use!– We’re always delighted to hear from our readers, especially when they’ve used an Enthusiast’s Restoration Manual to carry out a practical project.
A happy customer got in touch to let us– he’d used How to restore Honda CX500 & CX650 – YOUR step-by-step color illustrated guide to complete restoration by Ricky Burns …
“I purchased this manual by Ricky Burns and used it to completely renovate my 1979 Honda CX500. I am by no means a mechanic, just an enthusiast and had to strip the bike down to the frame to get welding & powder coating done as it was corroded and rusty. The manual was brilliant with a straightforward easy to understand approach & stacks of good photos, better than the workshop manuals available.”
“Ricky’s timing in bringing the book out was perfect for me. An excellent piece of work.”

Fight Against Motorcycle Profiling Showing Success in Utah– An organized and mobilized response by motorcyclists in Nevada and Utah protesting the policy of motorcycle profiling embraced by law enforcement in St George, Utah appears to be having success. Recent grassroots motorcycle efforts culminated in a protest run to St. George on May 7, 2016 in which there were zero examples of profiling or harassment and a tangible effort by the St. George PD to change their behavior and treatment of motorcycle club members riding in their town.
On April 23, 2016, the Motorcycle Profiling Project released a response to recent public statements by the St. George PD made to Hailey Higgins of ABC4 Utah in which they were embracing a paradigm and policy of profiling. The statement, in part reads:
“Sgt. Williams of the SGPD made statements…admitting to targeting individuals because they are members of motorcycle clubs in order to discourage them from riding their motorcycles in St. George.”
“The arrogance of these statements proves a fundamental lack of understanding related to basic constitutional principles related to the 1st Amendment and the 4th Amendment. Utah motorcyclists should unify in an effort to pass legislation addressing the issue of motorcycle profiling and reduce the mentality currently exercised by the St. George PD.”
The MPP response was widely accessed through search engines and social media. Local news media and news outlets were also sent the story. The blatantly discriminatory statements made by a Sgt. were widely exposed.
In fact, many motorcyclists were outraged by Sgt. Williams statements and commented extensively on social media with opinions of their own.
On April 28th the MPP released a video of a highly inflammatory profiling stop involving the Utah Highway Patrol and the SGPD on Facebook. This video was obtained as a result of a public information request made by activists that have learned the skills to obtain proof that profiling is occurring. This video was widely viewed and again sent to the SGPD.
Motorcycle rights activists in Las Vegas capitalized on the momentum and organized a run to protest St. George’s policies of discrimination on May 7th. Although the weather was bad, approximately 100 motorcycles made the trip from as far away as Las Vegas to join the protest.
The motorcycle club member that organized the protest has reported to the MPP that there was not a single incident of profiling in or around St. George during the protest. In fact, SGPD Sgt. Hepler reached out to event organizers before the event to ensure them that there would be no profiling issues and even suggested less congested routes due to another unrelated event happening that same day in St. George.
According to the event organizer:
“It was the most respectful polite conversation I’ve ever had. Sgt. Hepler called to let us know they were having an International Ironman Competition and to give me best directions so there would be no conflict. He said to call him if any cops gave us any trouble and said he wanted to come by and shake my hand if possible.”
Importantly, the MPP video released on April 28th reveals officers on the scene confirming that Sgt. Hepler was the source of the policy of mandatory profiling of motorcycle club members that led to the discriminatory stop in the first place. This same Sgt. acted in a completely different manner when a grassroots movement exposed an irrefutable policy of profiling.
The protest ride organizer says, “Sgt. Hepler was at the shop where the protest ride began when I arrived. He later texted that it looked like a good turnout and said to have a fun and safe ride.” And Sgt. Hepler lived up to his word. As stated, there were zero profiling incidents that day in St. George.
These results are a testament to an organized and active grassroots movement. From political media to the feet on the ground, motorcyclists are responsibly protesting discrimination and achieving near instantaneous results in St. George. Time will tell if this change in behavior will be long-term. What does appear to be long-term is the resolve of the motorcycle club community to fight for their civil liberties.
–By David “Double D” Devereaux is the Spokesperson for the Washington State Council of Clubs, Founder of the Motorcycle Profiling Project, and works with motorcyclists at the national level.

VALERIE THOMPSON TO RIDE DENIS MANNING’s STREAMLINER TO 400 MPH RECORD– Bikernet found out this week that Bonneville 200 MPH Club member Valerie Thompson is to ride a land speed racing streamliner for owner Denis Manning this season. Denis Manning who’s aiming at a 400 mph record said, “She will need to learn how to ride our rocket’.
BUB Seven Streamliner is an American-built streamliner motorcycle that held the motorcycle land-speed record from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2009 to 2010. BUB Seven and two other streamliners traded the title of “world’s fastest motorcycle” during official speed runs at Bonneville Speedway in the summer of 2006. The other two competitors were Ack Attack and the EZ-Hook streamliner. Denis set one of the records at 367 mph.
There’s no doubt that Manning’s purpose-built streamliner two-wheeler is no ordinary motorcycle, but Valerie is no stranger herself to wild machinery. Valerie is a multiple land speed record holder and has also competed in NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle racing. Here first two records were on 5-Ball Racing, World’s Fastest Panheads. Since then she’s joined the 200 mph club several times on BMWs.
More details are to come soon and we will be sure to keep you up to date. In the meantime you can check out Valerie’s accomplishments with the Bikernet 5-Ball Racing Panhead a few years back.

BIKERNET MEDICAL CENTER RESEARCH LAB FINDINGS– The human body is a treasure trove of mysteries, one that still confounds doctors and scientists about how it works. It’s not an overstatement to say that every part of your body is a miracle.
It’s possible for your body to survive without large fractions of its internal organs. Even if you lose your stomach, your spleen, 75% of your liver, 80% of your intestines, one kidney, one lung, and virtually every organ from your pelvic and groin area, you wouldn’t be very healthy, but you would live.
During your lifetime, you will produce enough saliva to fill two swimming pools. Actually, Saliva is more important than you realize. If your saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.
The largest cell in the human body is the female egg and the smallest is the male sperm. The egg is actually the only cell in the body that is visible by the naked eye.
The strongest muscle in the human body is the tongue and the hardest bone is the jawbone.

THE VERY OLD VINTAGE ROAD RACER RETURNS Yo Bandito….former Bikernet contributor, Bikernet sponsored vintage motorcycle roadracer, and FXR guy Charlie Young here.
Yeah, best forgotten and under the radar, but hope you are well sir. I’m glad to see you and Bikernet still thriving. I’m truly impressed with your most recent news covering Wayne Rainey. What a miraculous story.
I met Wayne at the Indy GP last year in the Yamaha suite in the pits….what an inspirational guy. His efforts with MotoAmerica were much needed. The AMA dropped the ball, there is no easy way to say it.
Anyhow, went riding with someone I’ve seen on your site a lot in Sturgis year before last, Kirk Taylor. Kirk and have a mutual friend Gordy….what a great ride. His FXR is very well done……same crowd as Shemke TPJ and the Kraus crew. This mutual friend’s son is doing some nice work on my FXR right now. Inverted ZX14 Kaw front end, and a host of other mods. What a great friend and family.
I’ve left the F22 / F35 fighter / C-130 factory for some greener pastures. I’m currently principle Quality Analyst Welding and Inspection for BAE systems with the USN…..I’m glad to get back to my Navy roots. Downside is I’ve moved to the beach in Florida (yea, I know), but left my shop, my bikes, and my woman back in Atlanta….
So I’m bored, which somehow led me back to you sir. Anyhow, just getting back in touch, its been awhile. I’ll be getting my feet wet with the vintage roadracing again….riding a truly special vintage Rotax powered 250 2 stroke with WERA and HMGP at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah Georgia at the end of may.
The bike owner is a friend and asked me to ride. I’m honored. We will see if I still got “It”. Getting the FXR worked on has me excited. I need to reconnect with my girl. Anyhow dude, I’d be honored to contribute again if you think it would help the Bikernet cause…..ride forever bro.
— Charlie Young
We asked Charlie to cover Moto-America and Wayne Rainy’s superbike racing efforts. Hang on for more reports. And of course to cover his FXR build.—Bandit

AMA ALERT– Bill restricts availability of unsafe fuel. Urge your representative to co-sponsor!
Take Action
U.S. Reps. Bill Flores (R-Texas), Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), Jim Costa (D-Calif.), Steve Womack (R-Ark.) and Cedric Richmond (D-La.) introduced H.R. 5180, the “Food and Fuel Consumer Protection Act of 2016” today. The American Motorcyclist Association supports this bill.
The bipartisan legislation would cap mandated ethanol content in the nation’s fuel supply at 9.7 percent and institute a provision that automatically reverts the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s annual Renewable Volume Obligations to the previous year’s percentage if the EPA misses its Nov. 30 deadline. And, finally, the bill would ensure commercially available cellulosic and advanced ethanol has a place under the 9.7 percent cap.
In other words, the bill would stop the federal government from forcing E15 fuel (15 percent ethanol by volume) into the market. Capping the ethanol mandate helps ensure the availability of safe fuels like E10 and a continuing place in the market for ethanol-free gasoline (E0) for older motorcycles. This is important, because the last RVO rule issued by the EPA decreased the E0 supply to just 130 million gallons from 9.2 billion gallons in 2016, despite the fact that the demand for E0 doubled.

EVEN DURING LUNCH HOUR THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS OPEN– Everyone has a right to be stupid. Politicians just abuse the privilege.
Sam goes to his friend Mike and says, “I’m sleeping with the minister’s wife. Can you hold him in church for an hour after the service for me?” Mike doesn’t like it, but being a friend he agrees. After the services, Mike starts talking to the minister, asking him all sorts of stupid questions, just to keep him occupied.
Finally, the minister gets annoyed and asks Mike what he’s really up to.
Mike, feeling guilty, finally confesses to the minister. “My friend is sleeping with your wife right now, so he asked me to keep you occupied.”
The minister smiles, puts a brotherly hand on Mike’s shoulder and says, “You better hurry home. My wife died a year ago.”

BIKERNET GUN NUT REPORT, IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS– California: Coalition for Civil Liberties Announces Largest Law Enforcement Union Joining the Opposition of Newsom’s Ballot Initiative
Please take a moment to read this important update from the Coalition for Civil Liberties on the Newsom ballot initiative and the ever growing number of groups coming out in strong opposition.
California’s Largest Law Enforcement Union Joins Eight Others in Opposing Newsom
Zero Law Enforcement Groups Support Newsom
The California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA), the state’s largest law enforcement union, announced its opposition to Gavin Newsom’s ammunition proposal. In an open letter to the citizens of California, CCPOA President Chuck Alexander says that the organization “vehemently opposes” Newsom’s proposal, which “lessens our ability to protect ourselves and the public.”
The first public hearing on Newsom’s proposal was held in Sacramento this week, with representatives from several law enforcement organizations on hand to voice their opposition. Newsom chose not to attend and has not won the support of any law enforcement organizations.
The CCPOA is the latest law enforcement organization to stand against Newsom’s proposal. The nine organizations represent thousands of officers, prosecutors, sheriffs and other officials on the frontline of public safety. Groups opposing Newsom’s proposal so far include:
Association of Deputy District Attorneys of Los Angeles
California Correctional Peace Officers Association
California Fish and Game Wardens’ Association
California Reserve Peace Officers Association
California State Sheriffs’ Association
Law Enforcement Action Network
Law Enforcement Alliance of America
San Francisco Veteran Police Officer Association
Western States Sheriffs Association
“It’s telling that California’s law enforcement experts are overwhelmingly critical of Newsom’s proposal,” said Chuck Michel, a co-chair of the Coalition for Civil Liberties, a diverse group of Californians opposed to Newsom’s ballot initiative. “They’re the ones risking their lives every day and have a unique vantage point on what it takes to keep our streets safe. We should be listening to them, not politicians out to promote their own personal interest.”
For more information on the opposition to Newsom’s proposal, visit www.coalitionforcivilliberties.com.

SPEAKING OF FXRS–
I rode the FXR4 home yesterday. It is as solid as a rock, brought back a lot of memories. A lot of guys think the FXR was the best bike Harley ever made. As far as the best all around bike, I have to agree .
It is as smooth as glass and plenty of power. I love the sound of the carb bikes. I have a 13 Fat Bob and it is fuel injected and it is a great bike but nothing beats the sound of the single cam carb bike.
For me I have both twin cam and Evo bikes and in my opinion the EVO has more heart and soul not that the twin cams are bad they are just different. I am an old school guy and I love the carb, the choke and the petcock. I am really glad I got my hands on this bike. It came from the last of the FXRs. The 2000 FXR4 was the last version.
Until next time, RIDE !

TOMAHAWKS, TOMATO PLANTS–
Have I ever mentioned that my great-great-grandmother on my mother’s mother’s side was a full-blood Cherokee?
Her name was Mary. That’s all I know. Back then, it wasn’t cool to be “Injun” and none of that line of women would ever talk about it.
When Nomad and I were applying for our marriage license, I felt an urge to claim that sliver of my heritage. The application asked for race, and I checked both “Caucasian” and “Native American.”
The lady behind the counter glanced at the paper and then handed it back. “Can’t check two, darlin’” she said. “Gotta pick one.”
Math dictated that I erase the check in the Native American box. When I re-delivered the application she asked, “What tribe?” I said Cherokee, and she smiled and said, “Me too!”
I’m sure there are a lot of us — walking around with a fraction of a fraction of Native blood. No ties to any tribe, no knowledge about that part of our history. Every so often, I believe I can feel that one-sixteenth rise up and guide my movements — if I stop to gaze at the moon, or walk quietly through a forest, or listen to a bird’s song.
I wonder. Instead of looking backwards with sadness and longing for what’s been lost, can these tiny fractions of “ethnic” DNA propel us forward? Can they take us in a direction of becoming more conscious of our relationship to nature and more appreciative and aware of our surroundings?
I never knew my great-great-grandmother, but if her daughter — my Granny Leona — were alive, I know she’d roll her eyes and snort with laughter at my romanticizing and philosophizing.
Then she’d go back to her tomato plants and pole beans.
And maybe that’s exactly my point.
* Her Name Was Mary * (btw, that’s multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist Nomad on the wooden flute — pic below)
We’re at the Bluebird Café in Nashville next week, and then off to the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. Hope to see you soon!

Rain-X Windshield Treatment Dramatically Improves Wet Weather Driving Visibility– Under rainy conditions, driver response time was tested to improve a full second. A lot can happen in that one second and could mean several car lengths of extra stopping distance.
Treating your windshields with Rain-X improves wet weather visibility, particularly at night. Ron Fausnight, Group Technical Manager at ITW Global Brands, is available to discuss how hydrophobic treatment can improve driver visibility, making the roads safer.

DEADWOOD UPDATE — Two-week motorcycle parking on Main Street and in the Interpretive Center lot July 31 through Aug. 14 got the green light Monday as Deadwood City Commissioners continued a public hearing discussing the matter further.
The topic discussion began April 18 when Commissioner Jim Van Den Eykel made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Gary Todd, to allow parking on Main Street and the interpretive center for one week only, which died for lack of a majority (2-2) vote.
Monday, Commissioner Dave Ruth made a motion to approve the original two-week request as submitted, and Todd voted in favor of the request, with Van Den Eykel the sole dissenting vote.
“I think everyone is aware that we are losing the Lower Main Street parking lot this summer, and I’m concerned we might not have parking for our guests,” Todd said, adding, “For a couple of reasons, I think we should look at the use of the Interpretive Center parking lot. Number one, the loss of revenue from that parking lot … The parking and transportation fund, which is dwindling drastically. We try as hard as we can to provide free parking as much as we can in this town and still be able to maintain our parking lots. So, that being said, for two reasons, number one is loss of income that I think we can generate the greatest during those times. Number two, and more importantly, I don’t believe the crowd is going to be here prior to the event, like it was last year. I’m concerned that ‘ma and pa’ aren’t going to be able to find a convenient place to park the week before the rally.”
“I was the one who made the motion for the one week only,” said Van Den Eykel. “But I would concur with what Gary just said. I would go with two weeks on Main Street and … just closure of the Interpretive Lot for one week during the Rally itself because we have a lot of other visitors and tourists that visit our community that also need a place to park. Also, we’re closing down our Interpretive Lot, closing Main Street, we close our tour bus operations, we close Deadwood Alive down for a couple of weeks, and that’s what a lot of our guests come to see.”
“… I think we have an opportunity with proper signage, to get more people to take advantage and utilize our parking ramp,” Speirs said. “Both areas need revenue fixes … when you look at the revenues from the parking ramp, the parking ramp needs also a boost, and I think there’s an opportunity, again with proper signage, to get people who come up to the Interpretive Center to come down to Main Street and utilize our parking ramp.”
Chairman of the Deadwood Revitalization Committee Ron Russo said that at the committee’s meeting last week, a unanimous vote was taken to support two-week motorcycle parking on Main Street, including the interpretive center.

DUCATI RAGS TO RICHES–
If ever there was a rags-to-riches story in the motorcycle world, would you guess it was about Ducati? This Italian motorcycle manufacturer began by selling motorized bicycles to impoverished residents of post-World War II Italy. Today, Ducati is the world’s premier manufacturer of street motorcycles whose sales continue to rise year after year. Its svelte, hyper-accelerating motorcycles are two-wheeled wonders that are fluent in the language of speed.
A new book from Motorbooks wlll give enthusiasts of this Italian speed machine the entire story. The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles by Ian Falloon traces the stunning chronology of the motorcycles dreamed up by Ducati, from the 1950s to present day.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
From the single-cylinder bikes of the 1950s to the high-performance sportbikes of today, The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles showcases the entire spectrum of Ducati.
The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles traces the stunning chronology of the motorcycles dreamed up by Ducati, from the 1950s to present day. Laid out for the first time in encyclopedia form with gorgeous photography and insights from Ducati expert Ian Falloon, this book offers motorcycle enthusiasts a closer look at the craftsmanship, power, and beauty of these extraordinary motorcycles. The book features all of the motorcycles from Ducati’s storied history, including the groundbreaking Desmodromic 750 Super Sport, the Mike Hailwood Replica, the Superbike-dominating 916, and the epic Panigale.
From the street bikes that gave birth to the very notion of the modern superbike to the racing motorcycles that dominated tracks in Great Britain, Europe, and North America since the latter part of the twentieth century, The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles runs the full gamut of sportbikes. It’s a collection that demands shelf space in the library of any true motorcycle collector or fan. ($50 US)

MORE GUN NUT ALERTS– California: Hijacked Bills are Moving Forward–On Tuesday, May 10, the Senate Public Safety committee passed four anti-gun bills that up until last week covered completely different subject matters. All four bills have been sent to the Senate Appropriations Committee where they are scheduled to be heard Monday, May 16. Please contact the members of the Senate Appropriations Committee and urge them to OPPOSE AB 156, AB 857, AB 1135, and AB 1511.
Assembly Bill 156 would place unjustified and burdensome restrictions on the purchase of ammunition and would require the attorney general to keep records of purchases. This legislation would further require any online ammunition sales to be conducted through a licensed vendor.
Assembly Bill 857 would require an individual to request a serial number from DOJ for curios, relics, and home-built firearms. Anti-gun advocates are under the impression that criminals will apply for a serial number issued from DOJ prior to use. This bill could entrap law-abiding citizens and significantly diminish the value of curio and relics.
Assembly Bill 1135 would reclassify hundreds of thousands of legally owned semi-automatic rifles as “assault weapons”. With this change a rifle with a magazine capable of being removed from the firearm without disassembly, would now be classified as an “assault weapon”. This includes firearms that require a “tool” to remove the magazine such as rifles equipped with a “bullet button.”
Assembly Bill 1511 would effectively end the long-standing practice of temporarily loaning a firearm for lawful purposes. Under this legislation the ability to loan a firearm to anyone other than a family member or a person who is in the field hunting would now be prohibited unless conducted through a dealer.
The result of the misguided legislation would turn otherwise law-abiding citizens into criminals simply for borrowing or storing a firearm. For example a rifle could be loaned in be field for hunting but not prior to, making sighting in ahead of time or getting to your hunting destination impossible.
Two bills are currently pending votes in the Assembly, anti-gun bill, AB 2607, and pro-gun bill, AB 2510. These bills could be considered any day.
Please contact your state Assembly Member and urge them to OPPOSE AB 2607 and SUPPORT AB 2510.
Contact information can be found by clicking on the NRA Banner.
OPPOSE – Assembly Bill 2607 would amend the “Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO)” procedures that were created by AB 1014 (2014). GVRO’s were opposed by NRA during the 2014 session because of the lack of due process when depriving an individual of their right to keep and bear arms. AB 2607 would compound the existing problems by significantly expanding the class of individuals who could seek a GVRO.
SUPPORT – Assembly Bill 2510 would allow local law enforcement authorities to issue carry concealed weapons (CCW) identification cards approved by the State of California Department of Justice (DOJ) as proof that individuals are licensed in the state. The permits can be used in lieu of the obsolete typed paper form provided by DOJ.
Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends, and fellow gun owners and urge them to contact the Senate Appropriations committee and their state Assembly Member about these important firearm-related issues.
If you are not registered to vote, now is the time to do so! Click here to register to vote, so you can support candidates who believe in your right to keep and bear arms.
WORDS FROM THE MASTER’S MOUNTAIN– Is It Really That Bad?
Maybe it is time to quit complaining about what we don’t have and celebrate the things we do have!
We sometimes forget to Pause and find all the reasons that we should be Grateful for.
Yesterday, a buddy of mine was moved into a hospice. In December he went into emergency for some stomach pains. They sent him home that night but the next morning they called him back because they found cancer. He was admitted immediately and they began treatment. Unfortunately, the treatments did not work and he will soon be leaving this planet.
Two weeks ago the people in Ft McMurray biggest worry was the price of oil. Then a fire hit the town and 80,000 people had to be evacuated. Their worries went from oil prices to if they could get out of town alive. Now they have to wonder if they even have a home to go back to, over 2,400 homes and businesses burnt to the ground.
There is the old poem “I used to cry because I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feat.” Maybe today is the day to take inventory of all the things we should be Grateful for. Why not take a few moments just to say Thanks to the Universe for All the Good in our Lives. I promise you no matter how bad we think we may have it, there is someone in a much worse position.
Today I am going to Live in the Present moment with an attitude of Gratitude.
–Venerable master YALE
What you see and feel you get. If you see and feel only good, that’s what you get. Remember just a few words every day: Gratitude, Compassion, Wisdom, and Benevolence. Make them work for and with you constantly. –Ming

The SOS debut race features nine daredevil motorcycle racers and will run Saturday, October 15, 2016, during Biketoberfest at New Smyrna Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

UNCLE MONKEY ON THE PLIGHT OF THE COMMON MAN– We like to think we drive the changes in our country, that we are in charge, that we control our own fate. The sad reality is that we were never in charge, just given the allusion to keep us passive.
We cast our vote for our candidate with the belief that they are fighting for us, the little man. The truth couldn’t be farther from the truth. You see it isn’t the peasants who start revolutions. Sure they may quickly get on board, but the seeds are sown by those with wealth and power who hunger for more.
You see, for us there is too much to lose -stability, family, our lot in life. While it may seem that the wealthy would have more to lose (and they do) but they know that they can cash back in.
The Trump brand has gone bankrupt a few times but it always bounces back. That is because there is trust behind them to keep them at the top. It isn’t something that is restricted to the ultra wealthy. Think about business owners who have file to bankruptcy only to open another store down the road a month later.
You see when words of revolution are whispered behind closed doors it is not the common person who is invited. We are the pawns, disposable sacrifices to the plans of others. They may say that they have our best interest at heart but there is always an end game, a reward for them at the end.
The irony of the US election this year is that the “common” man is rallying behind a candidate that cannot be corrupted by big business. He is there to fight for you who have felt left out. The problem is that he is big business. The welfare and livelihood of his thousands of employees come second to profit, come second to his own interests.
Just because politics have been bold enough to pull away the curtain doesn’t mean things will change. The problem is that the world is not a corporate board office. You see not every country is blood thirsty, not every country wants to be the bully in the school yard.
Other countries put priority on free education (through university and beyond), free healthcare, social programs to help those who have fallen behind because of addiction or mental health. It is a foreign thought to us, that a society would work for the betterment of everyone and not just themselves.
This is the table that Trump is hoping to sit at, where half the people could care less if the US “succeeds” or fails. Would going to a global war be the best interest for the common people? No, they are the pawns that will march to war. Families will lose children, while US corporations gain profits.
Social disorder at home wipes out neighborhoods, rounding “them” up to deport them but it will be the corporations that buy up the property, re-market it and sell it back to you for more than you can afford for huge profits to themselves.
We’ve already signed our lives away. Sold out our freedoms and liberties to revert to being swaddled babies who have to be protected from ourselves. The younger generations live in our basements scared to face the reality of the world.
The older generations are too old to grind the axes and swords necessary to evoke change. If we do rise for change you can bet that it will be behind people who have their own agendas.
-bad Uncle Monkey
Wow, I don’t agree entirely with the Uncle. Anyone can make a difference, if they step up and pound the table loud enough. Let’s see what happens next.–Bandit

KID ROCK SET TO PERFORM AT ‘CLEVELAND ROCKS 2016’ EVENT ON JULY 21ST– CLEVELAND, Ohio (May 12, 2016) – This July, the eyes of the world will be set upon Cleveland, Ohio – with the Republican National Convention taking place there. Those who will experience history being made that week will get to experience the magic of the city with a historic night of fun and entertainment titled Cleveland Rocks 2016! The extravaganza is produced by Blue Star Productions, LLC in conjunction with the Green Beret Foundation, The Folded Flag Foundation, The Guardians of Heroes Foundation, OH Fallen Heroes, and ST9, with those charities receiving proceeds from the event.
On Thursday, July 21, the week will come to an end for those in attendance, but it ends with a bang! For the evening’s festivities, called “Wheels Up,” Kid Rock – one of the most electrifying musicians in the world – will show off his musical virtuosity performing with his incredible Twisted Brown Trucker Band. The singer, a native of Detroit, has sold a staggering twenty six million albums since breaking onto the scene in the 1990s. Other hit albums in the Kid Rock catalog include Cocky (2001), Rock and Roll Jesus (2007), and Born Free (2010). He has had success on the Pop, Country, and R&B charts with a variety of artists, ranging from Sheryl Crow to Martina McBride to R. Kelly. His most recent work is 2015’s “First Kiss.”
A longtime supporter of veterans from all branches of the military, the musical icon says he’s glad to be able to participate in an event that gives back to a group that has given so much to Americans.
Robert Jennings, Executive Producer of Cleveland Rocks 2016, says that he’s excited about the event, which he thinks fans should support – regardless of party affiliation. “I think veterans’ issues are something all Americans should rally around which is why we’re working with major artists to carry that message to Cleveland and Philadelphia. Our activities support nationally recognized, small non-profits that work on the ground with active duty service members and their families and the veterans of America’s military.
We thank artists like Kid Rock who are willing to stand up for vets no matter which way the wind blows, and we’re looking forward to spending time with the leaders and grassroots of both parties in Cleveland and Philadelphia.”
The concert will feature gourmet catering, plus an open bar in addition to various VIP enhancements. There will also be daily special event space available to suit along with catered hospitality suite and a premium cigar bar. Last week, I took my grandchildren to a restaurant. My eight-year-old grandson asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said,
“God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would
thank you even more if Grandpa gets us ice cream for dessert.
And liberty and justice for all! Amen!”
Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream!
Why I never!”
Hearing this, my grandson burst into tears and asked me, “Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?”
He winked at my grandson and said, “I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.” “Really?” my grandson asked.
Naturally, I bought my grandchildren ice cream at the end of the meal. My grandson stared at his ice cream for a moment, and then he did something I will remember the rest of my life.
He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman.
With a big smile he told her:
“Here, this is for you, you grouchy old bitch. Shove it up your ass!”
Kind of brings tears to your eyes, doesn’t it?

NEVER GIVE UP— And never quit. I mentioned the Code of the West Mantra. But when you think about it, some folks have a tough time implementing the code. I have kids around me who don’t do much for themselves or their futures.
Sure, they can find the bucks for a six-pack, a pack of cigarettes, or a bag of weed. It takes a change of focus, then focus becomes the priority. Some folks get it. Many of the guys who race, own motorcycle businesses, or guys building choppers know what it takes. If you want to see anything through it takes daunting focus.
A guy who is building a chopper knows the drill. Everyday he’s focused on what he can do next, and he never gives up. Sure, he’ll get a six-pack for the weekend, but during the week the cash goes toward parts and chrome, or saving for a hand-tooled seat.
When his bike is finished and he rolls it under the lights of the next Ultimate Builder show, then it’s time for that fifth of whiskey.
Ride free forever,
