Hey,
As I went to bed last night I had the perfect title for the Sunday Post, but I didn’t force myself to write it down, so this morning it’s gone. But that’s never bad.
I’ve watched a couple of interesting lectures recently. I’ll try to share some findings with you.
Kids hate big business. They want to start non-profits to save something.
Making a profit needs to change from quarterly reports to long range goals, from making money to satisfying a mantra to build sustaining products, supporting employees and society and with a notion to help, or no harm to the planet.
And here’s a twist. Fossil fuels are not bad.
A brother asked me recently why more people don’t get involved in motorcyclists rights.
Today’s average citizen has the mind of a genius 100 years ago.
Even a genius’s mind can be over-loaded with stimuli.
Let’s hit the news before I’m totally lost.
QUICK, THIS ANSWERS ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS–The Male Cycle
When I was 13, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend with big tits.
When I was 16, I got a girlfriend with big tits, but there was no passion, so
I decided I needed a passionate girl with zest for life.
In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything
was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened
suicide. So I decided I needed a girl with stability.
When I was 25, I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally
predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I
decided that I needed a girl with some excitement.
When I was 28, I found an exciting girl, but I couldn’t keep up with her. She
rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad
impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great
fun initially and very energetic, but directionless. So I decided to find a girl
with some real ambition.
When I turned 30, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly
on the ground, so I married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me
and took everything I owned.
I am older and wiser now, and I am looking for a girl with big tits.

PETER FONDA APPROACHES 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF EASY RIDER–We’d love to discuss an upcoming cover feature — or major in-depth story — with BIKERNET for Peter, who is tied to the approaching 50-year anniversary of his iconic, groundbreaking film, “Easy Rider” (early 2019). We cannot imagine a more logical fit.
As you likely know, Fonda envisioned, wrote and produced Easy Rider with the late Dennis Hopper and starred in the seminal motion picture with Hopper, Jack Nicholson and Karen Black.
Beginning this November and continuing through next summer (July, 2019) numerous events tethered to the free-thinking culture that spawned of the most authentic, life changing cinematic undertakings of all time are being planned. We’d love to get your outlet on board as we move forward with planning over the summer months.

Do Ticket Cameras Really Capture the Bad Guys?–None of my friends think red light cameras and cameras set to catch speeders are a good idea. Thankfully, they’re not allowed in my home state. But what about states where they are allowed?
Are the cameras accurate and do they really record the perpetrators of traffic violations. Here’s some interesting thoughts from an article printed by the National Motorists Association (NMA).
Some cities claim police officers review every ticket issued because of a camera capture of a supposed violator. The truth is the cameras record the clearest license plate in a scene, not necessarily the plate of the violator.
There have been incidents where parked cars were issued speeding citations because the plate on the actual speeding car was blur.
As for human intervention in reviewing the photos, some police departments allowed the camera companies to forge the approval signatures of officers because there were just too many photos to review and it was deemed a waste of police resources.
Camera companies get paid by the tickets issued, so why would we trust them to review these photos?
As stated in the excellent article written by John Carr for the NMA, “In America we’re supposed to have disputes decided by an impartial adjudicator. We let traffic court become an exception. Then we moved traffic court into an administrative tribunal where you’re presumed guilty.
Finally, we outsourced traffic court to a company that gets paid for finding people guilty.”
ANOTHER AIR RESOURCES BOARD ATTACK–MTD Southwest Inc. Case Settles for $435,000
In October 2014, the Air Resources Board (ARB) reached a settlement with MTD Southwest, Inc. (MTDSW) that included a one-time payment of $435,000 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $326,250 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality; $108,750 went to the Foundation for California Community Colleges to enhance and improve small engine maintenance/repair courses, with corresponding emission reduction benefit and emission education, conducted at nine California community college campuses, including two in the Sacramento area.
MTDSW made voluntary self-disclosures upon discovering concerning issues with some of its Small Off-Road Engines (SORE) sold in California. Each issue was the result of changes MTDSW made to its SOREs during product improvement. Those changes had unintentional, unexpected, unforeseen, and undesired impacts on the SORE certifications. MTDSW took immediate corrective action and fully cooperate with the investigation. To settle the case, MTD Southwest Inc. agreed to the $435,000.00 penalty and to comply with all SORE regulations and ARB certification requirements.
EXTREME JEANS–
Are they jeans or just glorified knickers gone awry?
Remember when jeans were just denim trousers? Then came the advent of skinny jeans, followed by the high-waisted and the “mom” cut… all fashion revolutions in their own right, at the time.
Oh how things have changed. Now, there are all sort of kooky reincarnations of the humble wardrobe staple, from crotchless styles to pairs that have quite literally been ripped to shreds.
However, the latest sartorial scandal to take the jean world by storm comes courtesy of LA-based brand, Carmar Denim, whose “extreme cut out” jeans leave so little to the imagination, they’re practically an anatomy lesson.
The unique garment is quite literally “cut out” in almost every area, hiding one’s modesty only very slightly via a few denim threads – the model wearing the jeans on the website also happens to pair them with a cut out swimsuit, just in case you didn’t get the memo.
The irony is of course that, despite how little fabric they consist of – just 20 grams – the jeans are rather pricey, setting adventurous consumers back $168 (£122).
Can you imagine rocking this look on your next errand run? (Carmar)
Interestingly, the website describes the jeans as a “high rise pant with large statement cutouts on front and back”.
It adds that they come in a “relax fit” – however, it is unclear as to just how relaxed you have to be in order to wear them in public.
Maybe not the most appropriate garment to wear in the office (Carmar)
Naturally, people have responded to the jeans with dismay on social media.
“Please somebody tell me this is a joke shop and there aren’t people dumb enough to pay $168 for this,” wrote one person on Twitter.
“It’s almost like they ran out of ideas,” added another, “’Hey guys lets come up with some ideas for some new fashion!’ *guy in the back raises hand* ‘I know! Lets make pants that look like a harness.’ Literally the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.”
One thing’s for sure, if you do decide to don these jeans, underwear is most certainly advisable, particularly if adhering to the standards of common decency is something you stand by.

Re: the BOLT v. CHP Federal Lawsuit:
One of our Plaintiffs flew out to Sacramento from New York, as Mac mentioned.
Another came in to Sacramento from Oregon. Another came from Arizona. These three took the time, effort, expense and lost wages to participate in a Deposition where they were questioned for a couple hours. Should I ask – ?What is wrong with these bikers?? ?Why put yourself through that??
Or should the question be: ?What is wrong with bikers that there are only a few that know the importance of Liberty, Why aren?t there thousands of bikers putting their asses on the line with these three?
I am the one suing the cops that moved to Arizona. There?s no adult helmet law in AZ, and in a way, I could say it doesn?t matter to me anymore since I moved, just like half a dozen other BOLT members that moved away from CA in the last 2 years. But if you are not Free, I am not Free.
Integrity means DOING the right thing, even if no one is looking. Well everyone is looking, and I dont see bikers, in general, doing the right thing. Bikers as a whole don?t seem to give a damn tgat their Liberty is being stolen by government agencies of all kinds. The declaration of independence memorialized this American attitude:
… of abuses and usurpations… it is [our] right it is [our] duty to throw off such government, and to provide new Guards for [our] future security.?
The time is NOW to take our Founders? words to heart, and DO the Right thing.

FROM THE GEARHEAD DIARIES–
We were rolling through the Sacramento delta after a long trip from up in northern Cal. It was as hot as Hades that trip. We are talking high double or low triple digits in the temperature.
I heard the hydraulic lifter collapse in the front exhaust, so we pulled over along the Sacramento River to cool off and let the old Shovel cool down. We were still hot and we waited until the later of the afternoon. This all happened around 1980 or so.
Back to the story. We got ready to leave and the front exhaust valve had seized in the open position. If anybody ever tells you, you can’t run a Harley on one cylinder, they is wrong.
I took out the bent push rod on the front exhaust, so not to damage anything else. We took the coast so not to have to go up the steep Grapevine.
We made it home late into the night. I got into a machine shop and had them make me a new push rod and I still have it my old Shovel to this day.
I have the old Andrews cam sitting on my work desk as a paper weight too. Believe it or not. I don’t care. T.K.O.B.

CANTINA SAFETY ALERT–Goodyear Motorcycle Tire Under Scrutiny As Well After Fatal Crashes And No Recall: Report
As it faces an ongoing federal probe into an allegedly defective RV tire that’s linked to at least nine deaths, Goodyear is now facing scrutiny over a motorcycle tire that experts say should be recalled, due to a number of fatal crashes, according to a report from Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting.
Reveal looked at state and federal court filings, along with various police reports, and found that at least five people have died and 22 have been injured since 2006, after a specific motorcycle tire used on Harleys—the Dunlop D402—failed in numerous crashes.
Most of the cases have led to lawsuits against Goodyear, including three that remain pending.
Goodyear’s spokesperson told Reveal that “all death and injury claims” are reported “to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.” But court records obtained by Jalopnik show the company has appeared to vastly underreport death and injury claims over the G159. NHTSA queried Goodyear over the apparent discrepancy in a letter last month, when it requested more information about the tire.

WHAT IS Cinco de Mayo?
Performers re-enacting the Battle of Puebla as part of a Cinco de Mayo celebration in Mexico City last year.CreditEduardo Verdugo/Associated Press
By Claudio E. Cabrera and Louis Lucero II
Saturday was Cinco de Mayo, a day often mistaken in the United States for Mexico’s Independence Day. In fact, the holiday had its origin more than 50 years after the date associated with the country’s independence. So here’s what you need to know about Cinco de Mayo, including its evolution into a major economic driver for business owners and beverage companies across the United States.
What is the significance of Cinco de Mayo?
Cinco de Mayo, which isn’t widely celebrated in Mexico, commemorates an underdog victory over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The victory was galvanizing for the Mexican forces — and for those supporting them from afar — but it was short-lived, as France later occupied Mexico for a few years. Still, Cinco de Mayo continued to be celebrated in Puebla and, perhaps more significantly, by Mexican-Americans north of the border.
So when is Mexico’s Independence Day celebrated?
The country’s Independence Day is Sept. 16, now a national holiday. On that day in 1810, a priest named Miguel Hidalgo implored Mexico to revolt against Spain, leading to the War for Independence, which ended in 1821.
When did Cinco de Mayo gain popularity in the United States?
In the early 1960s, many Mexican-American activists entrenched in the country’s growing civil rights movement used the day as a source of pride. Close to two decades later, in 1989, an ad campaign by an importer of beers like Modelo and Corona was introduced around the day. The campaign was initially targeted toward Latinos but eventually broadened with print and TV ads. This year, Corona’s website featured a ticking “Countdown to Corona de Mayo” in the hours leading up to May 5.
The commercialization of Cinco de Mayo (and criticism of cultural stereotypes) has taken off. The research firm Nielsen reported that in 2013 Americans bought more than $600 million worth of beer for Cinco de Mayo, more than for the Super Bowl or St. Patrick’s Day.
David Hayes-Bautista, a professor at U.C.L.A., published a book in 2012 titled “El Cinco de Mayo: An American Tradition.” In the book, he called “Cinco de Mayo” a “fake holiday recently invented by beverage companies.”

COULD IT BE TRUE?–Millennials are killing motorcycles, but subscriptions might rev sales
Analysts argue that debt-burdened young adults just aren’t that into bikes
Millennials get blamed for the death of many things. Add motorcycles to the list.
The motorcycle category has been struggling in recent months, with shares of Harley-Davidson Inc. HOG, +2.45% off 29% over the past year. Analysts at Bernstein said that millennials’ lack of interest in bikes might be part of the reason. As baby boomers “age out” of their rising years, the analysts argue, young adults aren’t picking up the slack. That’s even as they occupy “one of the two prime life stages for motorcycling: the pre-family stage.”
Young millennials, which Bernstein pegs as adults born between 1990 and 2000, are two-thirds as likely to ride motorcycles as their elders were at this point in their life. The team at Bernstein pointed to student debt as one potential roadblock to motorcycle adoption with this cohort.
Compared to older generations, more of today’s young adults have college degrees, and that means more debt. In 2012, 70% of undergrads had taken out loans, which averaged more than $25,000, according to Bernstein. In 1990, only 50% borrowed, with the average total borrowings amounting to $15,000.

What bullshit. More younger set folks are coming into the market than ever before. Hell, only half of the new millennials go to college. We are having babies every 8 seconds now. NRA ALERTS–President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence Make History in Dallas
For the first time in the organization’s history, a sitting president and vice president both addressed NRA members at the 147th Annual Meetings in Dallas on Friday during the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum. This makes the second year in a row that President Trump’s visit is one for the history books. Last year, he became the first sitting president to attend the Annual Meetings in more than three decades when he spoke at the 2017 Leadership Forum in Atlanta. The last president to attend the NRA Annual Meetings was Ronald Reagan in 1983.
And just as he did last year, President Trump promised to the cheering, capacity crowd that he will protect the firearms freedom of law-abiding Americans and that recent efforts to restrict the Second Amendment will be staunchly opposed by his administration. Vice President Pence echoed the president’s sentiments, noting to the crowd that both he and President Trump will stand strong against any attempts to undermine our freedom.
In addition to the president and vice president, the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum featured speakers from across the country, including elected officials, first responders, veterans, NRA leaders, and freedom-loving Americans from all walks of life:
Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President, NRA
Chris Cox, Executive Director, NRA-ILA
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

FROM THE CLIMATE DEPOT—Did you know? Landfalls of major hurricanes in the United States have declined over the past 140 years.
Instances of F3 or larger tornadoes have been in decline since the ‘70s.
In 2017, Bloomberg News declared, “It’s not your imagination. The weather has been weird. So weird, in fact, it’s had an almost biblical feel.” Actually, it is your imagination. The weather has in fact been normal.
GUN NUT REPORT: Dick’s Keeps Digging–
The first law of holes, sometimes attributed to cowboy philosopher Will Rogers, suggests, “If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.” In other words, don’t make a bad decision worse by expanding it, with the hope that you will eventually extricate yourself. The hole will just get deeper. Somebody may want to mention this to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
After the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, the retailer caved in to pressure from the gun-ban community and began to enact a number of anti-gun policies at both Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream stores. The most egregious of these new policies was the refusal to recognize the Second Amendment rights of adults aged 18-20 by refusing to sell them firearms.
Dick’s then doubled down by announcing it would not just remove certain types of semi-automatic rifles from its stores, but would actually destroy its entire stock of these commonly-owned firearms, along with their accessories. Yes, you read that right. Dick’s will destroy firearms.
But if anyone who supports our Right to Keep and Bear Arms was still confused about Dick’s position on our firearms freedom, a recent article at theFederalist.com should remove all doubt.
The Federalist reports that Dick’s Sporting Goods has hired three new federal lobbyists to promote gun control in Congress. Evidently, Dick’s has cut ties with a lobbying firm it had used for a number of years to protect its business interests on issues like tax reform, cybersecurity, and patent litigation reform. New lobbyist registration documents state the new lobbyists were hired for “[l]obbying related to gun control.”
So as Dick’s continues to develop its anti-gun bona fides by fully embracing a gun control agenda, we note that the retailer continues to stock small shovels and trenching tools in most of its locations. We can’t verify whether they outsource the heavier implements needed for the major excavation at corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania.

WARNING SIGNS—Okay, life is moving fast. It’s on the edge and pushing in lots of directions. We are hit with fraud schemes and sales calls daily. The government and society is trying to push mandates and new taxes against us weekly.
It’s hard to keep up and make smart decisions, but in a sense we must, or find a way to eliminate distractions and connections.
So, what am I getting at. We all need to fight for Freedom. Let me put it this way. I coach kids to put a portion of their time each week to personal progress, like hitting the gym, improving their education or building equity. Or all three.
I want them to party and ride like the wind, but they need to factor in the other elements. Hell, every year on the way to Sturgis, me and a couple of buddies would find a gym and work out before dinner.
Okay, so somewhere in that mix we need to find the time to support freedom, join a motorcycle rights group or get involved.
This is a shot of one of the first 45 sidevalve Harleys. I recently scored a frame, front end and lower end. It’s cool to see the complete bike.
Next week we will feature Klock Werks, my new Panhead build and maybe Larry Settle’s Trask Turbo Twin Cam. I’m already working on a new Cantina Episode, number 80, amazing. Let me know what you thought of the last one.
Ride Free Forever,
