Valerie Thompson Signs New Crew Chief for Premier of Mojave Magnum 1.5 Mile Land Speed Racing Event June 2-3

Two-Time Land Speed Record Holder Teams Up With Record Holder Bob Sellers

Valerie Thompson, owner/driver of the Valerie Thompson Land Speed Racing Team, announced today she has retained the services of land speed record holder Bob Sellers to help prepare her Martech Services Company BMW for first-time Mojave Magnum event June 2-3.

"We are really excited about having Bob Sellers' expertise in our corner for the upcoming Mojave Magnum competition," said Thompson. "One of our team goals is to gain entry into the famed '200 MPH Club' and I can't think of a better crew chief to help us achieve that objective. Bob has worked with many successful teams and understands the challenges of piloting a bike at over 200 mph," added Thompson.

Sellers, of Needville Texas, piloted a stock Suzuki Hayabusa to a record run of 214.005 mph at Loring Air Force Base during the inaugural Speed Weekend Event sanctioned by the East Coast Timing Association. "I have watched Valerie's racing career over the years and been impressed with her many accomplishments. I'm looking forward to helping the team set new speed records," said Sellers.

The premiere running of the Mojave Magnum will be held at the Mojave Air & Space Port in Mojave California. The venue is famous for it's Mojave Mile events, a standing start one-mile speed trial. The June Magnum event is the first time competitors will race a section of runway exactly one and a half miles (7920 feet) in length and push starts will be allowed.
