THE TAXING BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for April 15, 2021

Hey,

It’s been a productive week. Dr. Hamster bought my ’46 Indian Chief from the war years. Mick hauled off some equipment.

Bev, my cousin came and got family archives. She’s into studying the family tree. We delivered stuff to Sin Wu and Haul Bikes reached out to me. They will come and load the remaining motorcycles and the Salt Torpedo middle of next week. I’m breaking down a motorcycle table in the patio and still packing.

Then Jeremiah rolled his 2009 Dyna into the shop and wanted to switch his sheared drive belt for a chain system. I thought he was just going to handle it, but I ended up helping for two days, while he barked and bitched. A seemingly simple operation demanded special tools, a stronger impact wrench and a $100 chain breaker. Hang on for the complete report in a couple of days.

This is going to be a big news day, so let’s get to the action:

The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Las Vegas Bikefest, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, BorntoRide.com and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.

TIRE NEWS–Goodyear to Acquire Cooper and AVON Tyres

February 22, 2021: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Nasdaq: GT) and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company (NYSE: CTB) today announced that they have entered a definitive transaction agreement under which Goodyear will acquire Cooper in a transaction with a total enterprise value of approximately $2.5 billion.

The transaction will expand Goodyear’s product offering by combining two portfolios of complementary brands. It will also create a stronger U.S.-based manufacturer with increased presence in distribution and retail channels while combining both companies’ strengths in the highly profitable light truck and SUV product segments.

The combined company will have approximately $17.5 billion in pro forma 2019 sales. Under the terms of the transaction, which has been approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies, Cooper shareholders will receive $41.75 per share in cash and a fixed exchange ratio of 0.907 shares of Goodyear common stock per Cooper share for a total equity value of approximately $2.8 billion.

Based on Goodyear’s closing stock price on February 19, 2021, the last trading day prior to the announcement, the implied cash and stock consideration to be received by Cooper shareholders is $54.36 per share, representing a premium of 24% to Cooper’s closing stock price on February 19, 2021, and a premium of 36% to Cooper’s 30-day volume weighted average price as of the close on February 19, 2021.

Upon closing of the transaction, Goodyear shareholders will own approximately 84% of the combined company, and Cooper shareholders will own approximately 16%.

Founded in 1914, Cooper is the 5th-largest tire manufacturer in North America by revenue with approximately 10,000 employees working in 15 countries worldwide.

Cooper products are manufactured in 10 facilities around the globe, including wholly-owned and joint venture plants. The company’s portfolio of brands includes Cooper, AVON, Mastercraft, Roadmaster and Mickey Thompson.

THE FANDANGO REPORT–
The classics and antiques were housed in one of the pavillions. The choppers, customs, scooters, etc. were outside. Near the food court and premium vendor sites, the choppers were formed in a large ring with bikes displayed in smaller rings within. It was easier taking photos but none of them came out. In the bright sunlight, I was unaware until now.

Swap meet and other vendors were on the grounds. Races were continuous on the horse track. Each long section of the oval track could be used for drag races and an area at one end of the track was for the mini bikes.

The entire fairgrounds was teeming with people. In fact, Fredericksburg was busy as usual and the traffic was thick. Folks are ready to get out and about. The bikes that were ridden to the event and in motorcycle-only parking made a great show of their own and drew much attention.

Okay, the photos submitted by Steve Klein were a lot better than mine. The Crocker is amazing. In fact, there were a great number of extraordinary machines there. I had forgotten your posting of the antiques in The Moving Bikernet Weekly News post.

My memory is terrible and Mr. Klein can attest to that as I couldn’t verbalize the name of such a famous motorcycle. It’s a struggle.

Tucker Powersports Launches Extensive New Product Catalog Featuring E-Bikes, Scooters and Gear— Company’s E-Power Efforts Focused on Helping Dealers Enter Rapidly Growing E-Bike Market with over 200 New Products

APRIL 12, 2021 – Fort Worth TX – Tucker Powersports, one of the country’s largest powersports product distributors, has launched an extensive catalog of products which will equip motorcycle and ATV dealers with the products necessary to succeed in the electric bicycle market. The Tucker e-Power product line includes electric bicycles, electric scooters, riding gear, apparel and related equipment. The worldwide electric bike industry has experienced tremendous growth and is expected to grow by over 50% and reach nearly $35 billion in 2026.

“We are taking steps to help our dealer network broaden their product offering which will draw in a new audience looking for fun-to-ride bikes and scooters, along with the clothing and gear that make the experience even better,” said Brad Turner, Tucker’s VP of Sales. “Our launch of the e-Power line with over 200 products makes it one of our largest new product programs ever.”

Tucker advised their dealers of their new e-Power program and has provided a full digital catalog of products that include hard-to-get electric mountain bikes, electric scooters, helmets, gloves, apparel, elbow and knee pads and braces, tires, lubricants, cleaners, tools, locks, alarms, handlebars, carriers and straps.

Many of the apparel products are available for adults and children. Several of the new products are sourced from current Tucker partners like 100%, Muc-Off and Strider, along with bicycle tools and equipment from Tucker’s BikeMaster brand. Tucker will also implement training and support programs for their e-Power dealers, including additional point of sale supplies and digital marketing materials.

The most notable additions to the Tucker product line include a selection of high-performance electric mountain bikes from Italian motorcycle and bicycle maker, Fantic, and a broad range of electric scooters from Dualtron and Minimotors Speedway. Tucker is now the US distributor for Fantic e-bikes, a company founded in Italy in 1968 which has earned loyal fans throughout Europe.

Off-road bicyclists have shown particular interest in the five high-end products from Fantic. These Italian-made models include the XEF1.9, XTF 1.5, XTF 1.5 Carbon, XMF 1.7 and XMF 1.7 Carbon. All five bikes feature name-brand components, full suspension and disc brakes. Each bike is available in several frame sizes and the premium models include carbon fiber frames. All feature 36-volt, 250W mid-drive motor from Brose. Battery capability varies by model and retail prices range from $5190 to $7990.

Once considered just for kids, electric scooters have evolved to meet the needs of all types of riders. With capabilities that run from a fun commuter platform to serious off-road performer, and ranges of up to 80 miles per charge, these aren’t the old aluminum units that are in the back of many garages.

Tucker’s offering of 16 scooters from Dualtron and Minimotors Speedway include options like hydraulic disc brakes, ABS, no-puncture inflatable tires and LED lights. Retail prices run from $1029 to $4690. Tucker’s trained sales reps will assist dealers in ordering a product mix that meets the needs of their customers.

“This is just a start,” said Marc McAllister, President and CEO of Tucker Powersports. “Electric vehicles are a big part of the world’s future transportation and recreation. The mission of our e-Power line is to help our dealer network take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to expand their business and bring in a whole new segment of customers.

NEWS REPORT FROM THE BIKERNET EDITORIAL BOARD–On the New Infrastructure Plan – Regarding April 8 weekly news where you mentioned biker rights activists and organizations avoiding public discussion of climate related regulation.

Predictions have always been used to gain power and control over people and to make money.

Religions used it successfully. So did many politicians and war-mongers (including all of their own citizens under 24×7 surveillance).

The latest demand for ban of internal combustion engine vehicles is also more of the Doomsday Prediction for generating fear and profit.

Apple has been fined in several nations including in USA for illegally using software upgrades to make their own phones slow and unusable forcing their own customers to buy a new model of Apple phone.

Other companies do it as well in mobiles, laptops, etc.

The old phones are hazardous waste.

More so, the mining for parts that go into the latest electronics and it’s batteries is as bad as mining for fossil fuels, gold, diamonds, etc. The same poisoning of land, fresh water, humans including child labour and slavery, killing of wildlife, etc.

But there is big profits to be made and forcing customers to stop using their 16-year-old-Honda or Ford and buy a new electric one requires new emissions rules and safety rules.

Biden’s infrastructure plan sees a great Utopia of people using buses and trains for daily travel and subsidies and tax benefits for citizens buying electric cars.

Well, people would buy those electric cars and use them daily instead of taking a bus or train.

People will go through the security checks and sit in a cramped seat to take an airplane ride instead of a bus or train.

Why then not fund better roads, highways, parking? Sure, give funds to the buses and trains to improve their services where people use it for lack of other choices. But why the strange lopsided distribution of the funds?

The new infrastructure plan is like throwing trillion dollars down a drain only to discover that the drain is a lot deeper so needs more billions of dollars thrown into it every year.

VEGAS NEWS–Sapphire’s Topless Pool Opens April 30

Posted April 9, 2021 by Arnold Snyder & filed under Topless Pools.

Sapphire has announced that their topless pool will be opening for the 2021 season on Friday, April 30. As in years past, the pool will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 pm.

The club is still hiring for all positions, including Cabana Attendants, Bar Backs, Porters, Towel Attendants, Topless Model Cocktail Servers, Topless Model Bartenders, Lifeguards, Security Personnel, Cashiers and VIP Hosts. Tonight (Fri, April 9, from 8-10 pm) they will be interviewing for all positions. Bring pool attire, resume, and all applicable work cards. Note that they are optimistically calling for topless bartenders and cocktail servers.

Prior to Covid, admission to the party was always free, though you were probably making a mistake if you didn’t reserve a lounge chair, assuming you were planning to stay for a while. The lounge chair rental was $92 for the day and included $75 in food and beverage credit—a better deal than just about every other party pool in Vegas, and this was by far the best party if you include the nipple count in your party rating system.

Depending on how Covid restrictions limit the crowd, free entry may not be possible and reservations may be required. Much depends on what the new Covid mandates will be on May 1.

Reserve a lounge chair — still just $92 according to their website — (or any other pool packages for the VIP deck, daybeds or cabanas) here, or call for the limo, more info or anything else at 702-869-0003.

Note: There will be a $30 entry fee for the pool if you arrive by cab or rideshare. Topless, full bar, 21+

TEXAS WEATHER REPORT–
So I’ve attached 2 Instagram links, I don’t really know them, met them at bike night last year. He is the Media (Can’t find the email) guy at American Speed/Mancuso the 610 shop, which is Johnny Mancuso original location.

This is the shop that all those Hot Rod Dyna’s came out of when I covered the bike night. They are both big in the MC world here in Houston. Anyway, Ms Amanda apparently has recently I’d assume learned she has very bad disease and it’s very rare too.

J is getting ready to sell his all black 124” Dyna to offset the hospital costs. This was her second more in-depth surgery that went from 4 days recovery to weeks.

Amanda on Instagram: “Fun fact Jason is the first person EVER to get me in front of a camera, he boosted my confidence for sure. ?_: @thelhway #tattoo…”

Jason works for American Speed, Mancuso’s original location, were the power comes from, I’m not sure what Ms Amanda occupation is, possibly full time with modeling, promoting bike events, calendar signings, etc. I guess no insurance or not the best insurance, her recovery was initially supposed to be 4 days, continues on into the 8th day I believe and little to no improvement. Her husband is getting ready to sell his 124” Dyna to help offset the costs.

NEWS FROM THE DIME BAG HEADQUARTERS— Back on track. I’m a sucker for good pussy. I gotta build a chopper so I can get more of it.

Also, been talking a lot about patents lately. Gotta get a constant flow of sales with Dimebag Travelers Time covers. I have improved the template and cuts for time-cover to continue rolling out as a feature product. These are selling for $80 plus $7.95 shipping. Offer them in Black and Brown Leather.

I’ve been making promotional handtooled leather time-covers for builders and friends.

In the progress of designing a Dimebag Leather United States Championship belt. It will feature Roller Brass Buckle with 2 solid brass rivets and leather belt keeper. All sizes are cut and sized upon delivery. These will be offered with two tone browns and a black and tan 1-1/2″ thick leather belt oiled with 10w-40 motor oil.

We will also have various sizes available. The prototypes we have are 9-oz thick leather. I believe 13-oz would be the right thickness. So, more reach and development continues.

Gonna need to make Dimebag Leather displays filled with feature products.

Mario Crim put the DimeBag Leather logo on Carl Pusser van. Dimebag Leather made seat for strider bike Walkin Tall customs is building for builders breakfast in Sturgis.

I gotta get my wheels on the road to work, so I gotta keep making $$$$. It’s not about money, but I do reserve the right to make my fair share to build more and live more. Gotta get a new motor and transmission install in my work van. Gonna do open doghouse, 350 orange, chrome motor badass headers with a hurst shifter and transmission.

Also need to get Dimebag Leather dot.com secured and setup with a shop.

Adam Croft made seats for Choppers Inc Blue, and Adrians new Choppers Inc. Build. Finishing up the rear seat for it. For some reason, it is separate and I ain’t got time to figure out another riddle. So, I roll with it ‘cause he has always been an outstanding customer that paid up front.

Been doing a lot of work at home also.

CLIMATE CHANGED TO CLIMATE DOOMSDAY—
Warning: Climate Change Officially Declared By Bilious Loser Writer-Hacks To Be Climate Emergency

Scientific American, a magazine that is neither, has declared that it and its hacks and its editors and its publishers will no longer be referring to the pre-pandemic hoax called “human-caused climate change,” it will now officially and forever be called a “human-caused climate emergency.” Created by non agrarian-reform industry, of course.

Agrarian reform, by the way, just to explain my own sentences rather than be mysterious, is the Marxist “solution” to capitalism. Capitalism is, in case you were out back with the kids teaching them soccer, capitalism is what makes things, what is called, “better.”

Capitalism is operated by individuals dealing voluntarily with other individuals for mutual advantage. Unlike what we have now, which is “collectivism.” Which is most of the people – unarmed, except for Americans – obeying orders from a few of the people, who ARE armed. Social theory is not complicated when I write about it. It’s only complicated when others write about it.

Where was I. Oh, yes, Scientific American. So a magazine – traditional fountains of truth and holiness where drunks and addicts gravitate to avoid normal employment – has declared that the earth is now at emergency level so that other magazines and “news” conduits will mention it. This is called “making unpaid employees out of rival publications.”

Apparently the staffers at Scientific American have decided that evidence from the herd-behavior of the masses who actually think that bureaucrat-designed “flu protocols” actually keep you “safe” from the annual cold and flu season warrants the proclamation that humans have become too strong and too powerful and too filled with godlike attributes such that they must be reined-in by even more-mightier gods – and that would be the ones giving orders to the military and the police – otherwise Poor Gaia – that would be planet earth, who, in case you did not know, is a living and aware being under our care lest “she” – earth is a woman, you see: helpless; delicate; very fragile bones; a bit anemic; under 24 hour care in a white room under a quilted coverlet and being fed tea intravenously.

“She,” the earth, is now in danger of being too hot. Humans are heating the earth – especially American humans – by using machines. Only the hammer and the sickle – which emblem closely resembles the international symbol for Islam, which I am sure is just a coincidence – only the hammer and the sickle are safe tools for use, for the earth will not become too hot if we are pounding nails into wood for shacks and cutting down wheat in the field for food.

THEN the earth will be at the proper temperature. This is Science. This is American. This is a magazine on the verge of collapse going into full Weekly World News mode. For you children who were not born, that was the newspaper with the relentless updates about Batboy.

Scientific American would do a lot better to run foldouts of hot nude women physicists if they want to sell more rags instead of using Fauci-like announcements of doom and declaring climate emergencies on what APPEARS to be yet ANOTHER in the past 10,000 years since the ice sheets receded due to mammoth-caused global warming…… pleasant Spring day.

We are going to have to put the sprawling flu-obsessed human population SOMEWHERE and if Greenland and Antarctica become free of ice so that people can LIVE there……why is that a fucking goddamn emergency. Why isn’t that Good News. I’ll tell you why it isn’t good news: because it doesn’t fit the World Journalist-Hack Agenda to turn the whole world into the third world.

Thank you.

BRAND New Bikernet Reader Comment!–
JOE BIDEN’S “INFRASTRUCTURE” PLANS TO CREATE MORE MOBILIZED OUTHOUSES VIA AMTRAK

I’m waiting for the Biden Misadministration to announce that as part of their transition from gasoline powered vehicles to self-driving, electric transport mod, all motorcycles have to be banned because the self-driving systems can’t deal with all the randomness motorcycles present on the highway.

I’m sure if we’d trade our bikes for self-driving, electric transport cycles that would blend in with the school of fish/herd of lemmings robo-cars on the highways while we just sit on them, the powers that be would let us keep riding cycles. And maybe they’d let us put flames decals on them to show what free-spirited rebels we are.

But inna world where our bikes will be outlawed, all remaining bikers will be outlaws who snub society to live by their own rules, and…

Wasn’t that the plot of some cheesy 1970s grade B science fiction biker movie? Cheesy art becoming cheesy fact as Biden gives life to his favorite movie?

LONG ROAD IS ALIVE— Hello everyone! It’s been almost 2 years since I’ve seen a bunch of you and even more for others. I hope everyone is doing well and hasn’t been too affected by this stupid virus.

Due to the closure of the Canadian border last year and the lockdowns occurring, I was unable to finish the planning and the ride was just about cancelled. However, Mike Allen took the reigns, and at the suggestion of Jacques and Jennifer Ducote, figured out an idea to meet in a centralized location (Planet Chopper) and do day rides, meeting back at PC’s amazing “clubhouse”.

This year, due to the same unknown status at the border, Mike has graciously done the planning for the ride again and I’m trying to get more riders exposed to his plans. I will also be helping by planning an optional route based on the stops Mike has set up, while Phil Wetherbee will be doing the shop list again that follows the route.

To shake things up this year and try something that had been discussed around the campfire, Mike has designed a ride he calls the “Long Road Double Tap”, double tap meaning spending two days at each location, allowing for some exploring of the areas we stop at. It will also allow for anyone who needs to do repairs along the way, a day to catch up. Details of this year’s ride are as follows:

Registration this year is $48 per person. This includes a t-shirt, two nights stay and use of the Planet Chopper roadhouse in Woodlawn, Virginia, beverages at The Rebel Spirit custom motorcycle shop in Thomasville, NC on Saturday, July 31st and a catered meal when we return to Planet Chopper that evening.

Note: there is trailer parking available at Planet Chopper, call John Devonshire at 276-233-6974 to make arrangements.

The “official” start of Long Road 13 will be spread over two days:

July 24-25 (sat-sun evenings) at Sned-Acres Family Campground 6590 S. Cayuga Lake Rd., Ovid, NY 14521, 607-869-9787. Tent space and cabins are available.

Monday July 26 we ride to Gettysburg PA to spend July 26-27 at Artillery Ridge Campground (same place as 2018) 610 Taneytown Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325
717-334-1288. Tent space & cabins are available. Call in advance & let them know you’re with The Long Road. Cabins #4-8 are where we were in 2018.

Wednesday July 28, we ride to West By-God Virginia staying two nights at Revelle’s River Resort, route 33 East, Faulkner Rd, Bowden, WV 26254
304-636-0023 Tent space & cabins are available.

Friday July 30th, we ride to the Planet Chopper roadhouse at 1203 Woodlawn Rd., Woodlawn, Virginia 24381 for Friday and Saturday night (July 30-31). On Saturday we’re meeting up at The Rebel Spirit custom motorcycle shop for some beverages at the red bar/table that used to be the centerpiece of the Long Road Lounge at The Smokeout.
Long Road medallions will awarded to new riders at The Rebel Spirit, with Lincoln Infield from Full Throttle Magazine Carolinas covering the event.
We then return to Planet Chopper for an awesome catered meal and more cheer before we head back home the next morning, August 1.

Checks or money orders for $48.(USD) can be mailed to:
Mike Allen PO Box 4, Canon City, CO 81215
Or can be sent to PayPal.me/TerreHeroux
Include your shirt size.

Take care and ride safe,

MORE GOOD NEWS FROM VEGAS–
NV State Health Officials Say Strip Clubs May Reopen on May 1.

According to a report by Fox5 News in Las Vegas, Nevada health officials said “individual counties can allow strip clubs to reopen – if they choose – on May 1st.”

We’re not sure exactly what that will mean for Las Vegas — and we won’t know until Clark County makes an official announcement — so, here’s hoping that county officials will allow clubs to make their own decisions regarding restrictions, if any. It’s possible that the county may allow authorities in the individual cities to make their own restriction rules.

I’ll continue to follow this story. I wouldn’t advise anyone to start making travel plans until we get more information on what this means for Vegas.

CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
Last Chance to Speak Against Massive Proposed CARB Certification Fees

Powersports businesses have less than a week to oppose, in writing, massive hikes in certification fees proposed by the California Air Resources Board. For some on-highway motorcycles, the proposed CARB fees would be more than 900 percent above U.S. Environmental Protection Agency assessments, and more than 500 percent above those for some off-highway vehicles.

The deadline to submit comments is midnight on Monday, April 19. The last chance to speak out against the proposals is next week on April 22 at 9 am, during a CARB board meeting, and speakers must register in advance.

“The CARB board will likely vote to approve or reject the fee-hike proposal at this hearing,” said Scott Schloegel, senior vice president at the MIC Government Relations Office. “While numerous businesses and organizations throughout the powersports industry have had conversations with CARB, every voice should be heard. Thanks to input from MIC members and technical staff, CARB has proposed several reduced fee options and decreased the fees originally proposed for aftermarket certification.”

BIKERNET BOOK OF THE WEEK CLUB— An anti–global warming hysteria book is driving Norwegian climate alarmists nuts

After the Norwegian Climate Realists announced plans to distribute Gregory Wrightstone’s 2017 book ‘Inconvenient Facts: The Science that Al Gore Doesn’t Want You to Know’ to all 356 of Norway’s mayors, two members of Norway’s parliament wrote the mayors a letter discouraging them from accepting the book.

April 13, 2021 (American Thinker) – Other than by misspelling “fjord,” how would an American geologist draw the ire of a pair of Norwegian politicians? Answer: Write a book that counters the notion that human activity is causing the globe to warm with catastrophic consequences.

Gregory Wrightstone’s 2017 book, Inconvenient Facts: The Science that Al Gore Doesn’t Want You to Know, was published in Norway and is being promoted by the Climate Realists, a Norwegian organization, which shares the author’s view that modern warming is neither unusual nor unprecedented.

Backed with 90 illustrations and 15 pages of references, the book presents 60 footnoted facts inconvenient to the Western elite’s absurd narrative about global warming. Among them: Most of the last 10,000 years have been warmer than today, including the Medieval Warm Period, when Vikings raised barley on Greenland, and the Roman Warm Period, when citrus grew in northern England.

After the Climate Realists announced plans to distribute the book to all 356 of Norway’s mayors, two members of Norway’s unicameral Stortinget — Tom-Christer Nilsen and Lene Westgaard-Halle — wrote the mayors a letter discouraging them from accepting a book that is popular “because lies are more entertaining” than the truth.

Mr. Wrightstone, recently named executive director of the Arlington, Virginia–based CO2 Coalition, responded with a letter of his own, noting that he has been accepted as an expert reviewer by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

“The two politicians claim to be ‘supporters of an open exchange of words.’ However, that is apparently only true if they agree with you,” says Mr. Wrightstone, whose book has been banned from his home library north of Pittsburgh and whose smartphone app was removed briefly from the Apple Store.

“The book is brilliant, very easily read,” says Morten Jødal, Climate Realists chairman of the board. Mr. Wrightstone’s rebuttal has been published in Norwegian newspapers, and distribution of the book to mayors will proceed in a few weeks, reports Mr. Jødal, a biologist and author of Environmental Myths, another book that critiques the global warming fraud.

Formerly head of the University of Oslo’s Center for Environment and Development, Mr. Jødal says, “Slowly, slowly I realized that the environmental movement is not competent. I started waking up to the fact that many environmental crises being described do not exist.”

Why would global warming be of interest to a country split by the Arctic Circle and 90 percent reliant on hydropower, an electricity source whose operations emit virtually no carbon dioxide — the bogeyman of global warmists?

“Politicians today talk about saving the world, beyond their own country,” says Mr. Jødal, who once worked at the Research Council of Norway. “They are convinced that the globe is threatened.”

Some climate alarmists say global warming will shut down the Gulf Stream and destroy its moderating effect on Norway’s climate, ensuring doom for everybody, Mr. Jødal scoffs.

A government proposal to eliminate the country’s 50 million tons of annual carbon dioxide emissions, without acknowledging its huge costs and lack of any benefit, is “totally ridiculous,” he says.

Norway’s vast forests and algae-rich coastal waters, he adds, probably absorb more carbon dioxide than the country’s 5.4 million people emit.

Mr. Wrightstone predicts that the controversy will allow his fact- and science-based views on climate change to be presented to a much wider audience.

QUICK, KEEP THE BANDIT’S CANTINA BAD JOKE LIBRARY WIDE OPEN—No masks allowed.

Maria had just gotten married, and being a traditional Italian she was
still a virgin. On her wedding night, staying at her mother’s house, she was very nervous.

Her mother reassured her; ‘Don’t worry, Maria, Tony’s a good man. Go upstairs and he’ll take care of you. Meanwhile, I’ll be making pasta.’

So, up she went. When she got upstairs, Tony took off his shirt and exposed his hairy chest. Maria ran downstairs to her mother and says,
‘Mama, Mama, Tony’s got a big hairy chest.’

‘Don’t worry, Maria,’ says the mother, ‘all good men have hairy chests..Go upstairs. He’ll take good care of you.’*

So, up she went again.. When she got up in the bedroom, Tony took off his pants exposing his hairy legs. Again, Maria ran downstairs to her mother.
‘Mama, Mama, Tony took off his pants and he’s got hairy legs!’

‘Don’t worry! All good men have hairy legs. Tony’s a good man Go upstairs and he’ll take good care of you..’

So, up she went again. When she got there, Tony took off his socks and on his left foot, he was missing three toes.*

*When Maria saw this, she ran downstairs. ‘Mama, Mama, Tony’s got a foot and a half!’

Her Mama said, ‘Stay here and stir the pasta.’

City of Portland dissolves Vision Zero task force
MULTNOMAH COUNTY–

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The task force charged with eliminating all traffic-related deaths in Portland by 2025 is no more.

Portland adopted the Vision Zero program in 2015 with a mission to reduce traffic deaths. The program has had success in other cities but the numbers in Portland have been moving in the wrong direction.

The city saw 28 traffic deaths the year before Vision Zero started compared to 58 traffic deaths in 2020, which marked the worst year for fatal traffic accidents in Portland in 25 years, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Two pedestrians were killed this past weekend alone.

City officials said that while the Vision Zero task force has been dissolved, the program itself isn’t ending.

“The committee had run its course and we wanted to change the way we were doing community engagement,” explained John Brady, a spokesperson for the Portland Bureau of Transportation.

Instead of meetings, Vision Zero will focus on education campaigns through public service announcements and community efforts aimed at convincing drivers to slow down.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty said she’s working with PBOT to figure out “both immediate and long-term solutions to keep all Portlanders safe as they move around our city.

“We have a lot of work ahead to realize our Vision Zero goals, but I am committed to that work,” Hardesty tweeted. “We can mitigate danger on our roads by improving street design and developing infrastructure that protects people from the potential damage cars are capable of inflicting.”

NMA ALERT–Is This the Beginning of the End?—Readers Respond

Editor’s Note: We received over 35 responses to last week’s Is This the Beginning of the End? NMA E-Newsletter #638. No matter what side of the divide our readers fall, they certainly have many different opinions about electric vehicles.

Two things come to mind: the change from horse-drawn power to cars starting around 1900 and the transfer from steam-powered to diesel locomotives that started around 1950. Is the conversion from gas-powered cars to electric the same? It could be, but I don’t know.

One thing I do know, though: any government did not force my two examples.

I don’t care what powers my vehicle. As long as it can be completely refilled/recharged in about 5 minutes and when using the heater does not affect range, it’s ok by me.

–Bob Morrow, Montana

Regardless of what we drive, there will still be roads, and there will still be drivers. We need to make sure our rights are protected.

–Eric Berg, Tennessee Member, and NMA Board Director

My only experience with the practical use of EVs comes from visiting my son, who lives in Colorado and drives a Chevy Volt. Charging the car at home or work is not a problem, but it’s a different story when we are on the road.

Phone apps to find charging stations are always a problem, but the worst is when you actually find an available charging station and get hooked up. Because different companies set up charging stations, you need to have payment apps for all of them set up on your phone. It’s like needing a credit card for every single brand of gasoline. If you are lucky enough to get the payment app to work, the final hurdle is getting the charging station to function properly.

I would say we encountered an out-of-order charging station about 50 percent of the time, and there is no way to tell until after you’ve gone through the whole payment app process. Very frustrating and extremely time-consuming.

–Lisa S., Michigan

I love EVs and the way most of them drive, but not so much their limited range and recharge times. Personally, if I had auto-industry money to invest, I’d put all of it into the companies with the best ICE engines in the best-driving, most appealing, best-value vehicles for a long, long time to come.

–Anonymous, Michigan

No matter how many chargers you install, how will anyone police the people who will plug their car in at the trailhead and go for an all-day hike? A friend of mine is a pilot for a major airline, and he parks his Tesla in front of the terminal in a covered garage, plugs it in, and flies off to India for almost five days. The car sits at the charger the entire time. How do you prevent that?

–George Sedlacek, Arizona

This is great news, and people who are initially resistant will be grateful for them. EVs drive so much better than ICE counterparts and, because of the low battery, are much less likely to get into a fatal accident. The planet literally requires we end ICE vehicles ASAP.

Transportation is the biggest polluter segment today. I love the sound of a roaring Mustang engine, but their time has come. EVs can be ‘juiced up’ right from home. Far more charging stations than gas stations in short time, too, watch. So many benefits and virtually no downsides sans reduced range, but with plenty of places to charge, it’s not as big a deal.

–Greg Brailsford, Rhode Island

Most of what he said is untrue. No big deal right?–Bandit

Without government interference, the adoption of EVs will continue to increase at a pace defined by the market as people balance the drivability benefits and lower maintenance requirements vs. the range and charging drawbacks. That is a normal process with any new technology.

However, with government mandates, there will be unintended consequences—people priced out of the market, electric infrastructure problems, etc. It will be interesting to watch because that is the path we are on…

–Stewart Harman, Michigan

Where will all the batteries come from? What will happen to the batteries that are old and won’t hold a charge? The batteries need rare earth minerals, which means a lot of digging in the places that the environmentalists don’t want to be opened up to development. And what will we do with millions of old batteries that aren’t good enough to recycle?

The environmentalists will have a fit over that–it’s surprising that they haven’t already. Or we might just shut down the transportation industry completely.

–James Phend, Florida

Who wants to take a cross-country trip in an EV if the outcome adds an inordinate delay due to charging and frequency of stops? Presently, you can safely travel a couple of days in an ICE vehicle, with just one overnight stay, let’s say from Portland, Oregon to Yuma, Arizona, for example. Utilizing the shortest route through some very desolate terrain is not conducive to an EV because there are currently no charging stations for hundreds of miles.

Even if there were, adding hours here would add days to the overall trip, given the present time/distance constraints for most EV’s charging requirements. Typically an EV (with a 60k Wh battery) takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty to full with a 7kw charging point. It then has approximately a 250mile range. That means that for the above trip, a person in an ICE vehicle will have arrived, spent several days on their vacation before the EV vehicle could arrive.

–William Rayburn,
Washington State

EVs reduce the pressure on our fossil fuel reserves. Without EV’s we would be seeing governments passing even stricter fuel efficiency standards. The results of which would not please any ICE enthusiast.

Thus stop bashing EVs and policies that support them. Instead, look at the good that comes from them, distracting governments from CAFE standards and leaving more fossil fuels for ICE enthusiasts to utilize.

–Anonymous, Pennsylvania

I greatly enjoyed your message discussing the arbitrary dates manufacturers are tying themselves to when it comes to phasing out the internal combustion engine. What all these entities are ignoring is not only the profound affection many have for cars with real engines but the vast potential of reduced carbon emissions from ICEs that is yet untapped.

Where will we be if everybody is producing only electric cars and nobody wants to buy them? The emotional component of real engines is completely left out of the discussion.

—John Baxter,
Mississippi

I have no problem with EV’s. I think they should continue to be developed and offered for whoever chooses to purchase one. But absolutely, they should never be mandated, forced, or coerced on the American public.

–Andrew,
South Carolina

Electric cars are just as bad or worse for the planet when you look at the big picture. This is a big government pipe dream that I will never support. I have no intention of ever buying one.

–Anonymous,
Pennsylvania

While it may sound impressive that half of new car sales in Norway are electric, remember that only 5.4 million people live there. And Norway gets over 96% of its electricity from hydro!

It’s a very different story in the USA, where 87.5% of electricity comes from coal & natural gas (60%), nuclear (20%), and hydro (7.5%). Even though ‘renewables’ receive massive subsidies, wind only contributes 8.5% and solar 2%. And because wind and solar are intermittent, the grid needs redundant backup from reliable sources (usually natural gas) to keep the power flowing at all times.

Keeping redundant backup plants idle much of the time is very costly to ratepayers. Too many people take our freedom of mobility for granted. That freedom is under a massive attack, and the NMA is doing a great job spreading the word. But we need to ask ‘where will we get the electricity more often and more loudly.

VISION ZERO Sputters As NYC Traffic Deaths Reach Highest Level Of De Blasio Era

Six years into the de Blasio administration’s Vision Zero campaign, New York City is on track to see the highest number of fatalities in a single year since the mayor took office.

There have been 200 deaths on city streets so far this year, the most since 2014, according to a new analysis by the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives.

At the current pace, the city is on track for 243 deaths in 2020 — marking the second straight year of increased road fatalities. Danny Harris, the executive director of TransAlt, said he expected the rate of fatalities to grow as the days get shorter.

“This is shaping up to be the deadliest year for traffic violence during Mayor de Blasio’s tenure,” he said.

The surge in deaths follows a nearly two month period at the height of the pandemic during which New York saw zero pedestrian fatalities. That trend reversed this summer, fueled in part by a spike in overnight motorist and motorcyclist deaths.

A CLIMATE REPORT FROM DOWN UNDER–
Ian Rutherford Plimer is an Australian geologist, professor emeritus of earth sciences at the University of Melbourne, professor of mining geology at the University of Adelaide, and the director of multiple mineral exploration and mining companies.
He has published 130 scientific papers, six books and edited the Encyclopedia of Geology.

Source. Wikipedia

Where Does the Carbon Dioxide Really Come From?

Professor Ian Plimer could not have said it better!
If you’ve read his book, you will agree this is a good summary.

PLIMER: “Okay, here’s the bombshell. The volcanic eruption in Iceland. Since its first spewing of volcanic ash has, in just FOUR DAYS, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet – all of you.

Of course, you know about this evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress – its that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow, and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans and all animal life.

I know…. it’s very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kids “The Green Revolution” science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacationing at home instead of abroad, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your 50 cent light bulbs with $10.00 light bulbs….. Well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth’s atmosphere in just four days – yes, FOUR DAYS – by that volcano in Iceland has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud at any one time – EVERY DAY.

I don’t really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should mention that when the volcano Mt. Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in all its years on earth.

Yes, folks, Mt. Pinatubo was active for over one year – think about it.

Of course, I shouldn’t spoil this ‘touchy-feely tree-hugging’ moment and mention the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the well-recognized 800-year global heating and cooling cycle, which keeps happening despite our completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change.

And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud, but the fact of the matter is that the bush fire season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two to three years. And it happens every year. Just remember that your government just tried to impose a whopping carbon tax on you, on the basis of the bogus ‘human-caused’ climate-change scenario.

Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention ‘Global Warming’ anymore, but just “Climate Change” – you know why?

It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past century, and these global warming bull**** artists got caught with their pants down. And, just keep in mind that you might yet be stuck with an Emissions Trading Scheme – that whopping new tax – imposed on you that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer.

It won’t stop any volcanoes from erupting, that’s for sure.

But, hey, relax…give the world a hug, and have a nice day!”

KEEPING THE BANDIT’S CANTINA BAD JOKE LIBRARY WIDE OPEN–Subject: The Wise Rabbi

Friday night services – Morris went to his friend Irving and said, “Irving, I need a favour – I’m sleeping with the rabbi’s wife. Can you hold him in temple for an hour after services for me?”

Irving was not very fond of the idea, but being Morris’ lifelong friend, he reluctantly agreed.

After services, he struck up a conversation with the rabbi asking him all sorts of stupid questions in an effort to keep him occupied. After some time, the wise rabbi became suspicious and asked, “Irving what are you really up to with all this?”

Irving , filled with feelings of guilt and remorse, confessed to the rabbi “I’m sorry Rabbi, my friend Morris is sleeping with your wife right now and asked me to keep you occupied.”

The rabbi smiled and, putting a brotherly hand on Irving ‘s shoulder, said, “Irving I think you’d better hurry home, my wife died two years ago.”

CNN Director: We Worked To Oust Trump, We Create ‘Propaganda,’ Use ‘Fear’ To Pass Climate Agenda

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas released explosive video on Tuesday that showed CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester admitting that the network worked to get President Donald Trump out of office and that the network creates “propaganda” on issues they know little about.

While explosive, the footage likely will not come as a surprise are many; polling has shown that CNN is the least trusted cable news network and is the most divisive media brand in the country.

On CNN and its employees working to oust Trump from office, Chester made the following remarks throughout various encounters that he had with an undercover Project Veritas journalist:

“Look what we did, we [CNN] got Trump out. I am 100% going to say it, and I 100% believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out…I came to CNN because I wanted to be a part of that.”

“It’s going to be our [CNN’s] focus. Like our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that’s what it was, right? So, our next thing is going to be climate change awareness.”

“[Trump’s] hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical people to tell a story that was all speculation — that he was neurologically damaged, and he was losing it. He’s unfit to — you know, whatever. We were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about. That’s what — I think that’s propaganda.”

On having a predetermined agenda to cover climate change and to use “fear” to sell it, Chester said:

“I think there’s a COVID fatigue. So, like whenever a new story comes up, they’re [CNN’s] going to latch onto it. They’ve already announced in our office that once the public is — will be open to it — we’re going to start focusing mainly on climate.”
“I have a feeling that it’s going to be like, constantly showing videos of decline in ice, and weather warming up, and like the effects it’s having on the economy–”

Climate change is the next “pandemic-like story that we’ll beat to death, but that one’s got longevity. You know what I mean? Like there’s a definitive ending to the pandemic. It’ll taper off to a point that it’s not a problem anymore. Climate change can take years, so they’ll [CNN will] probably be able to milk that quite a bit.”

“Be prepared, it’s coming. Climate change is going to be the next COVID thing for CNN.”

When asked if CNN was going to use “fear” to push their agenda, Chester said, “Yeah. Fear sells.”

WOW, THAT’S A GOOD ONE—There’s way more coming to Bikernet.

We cover the controversy between the rivet and the clip masterlink. I’m voting for the clip.

A feature on the history and this Crocker, which was the last one built and is currently owned by Sierra Madre Motorcycle Company founded by Don Whalen. Steve Klien one of the leaders in the Fandago event effort is now a major player in the Sierra Madre Motorcycle Company.

We have one of these Rapidos from 1969. The engine is froze, but the Redhead wants to ride it. If she wants to ride, we’re going to rebuild it. It will be our first Sturgis home project.

Jacquie and David Mann, the original. I just bought another David Mann original. This one was never published, but it’s a classic. I will posted it below.

A brother had an awkward welding project. He bought this light, agile, 15-pound MIG welder at Harbor freight, with flux core wire and went to work very successfully. I’m going to get one for my Deadwood home and a Lincoln TIG welder for the shop.

I owned a ’59 Impala in about ’66. What a classic. We spotted this one the other day as Shamrocks Sea Food.

We have way more to come. But make sure you join a motorcycle rights organization and the NRA.

We need to keep riding free into the future.
