THE CARB BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for October 5, 2023

Hey,

Another exciting week in the shop. A brother recently picked up a 1960 Panhead roller from a friend in Alaska.

He asked Ron, the shop owner, to send him a Linkert carb, since he didn’t have one. This carb needed parts and a rebuild. What a challenge.

Even the threads in the cast aluminum bowl were in bad shape. I taped it, but the bowl should be replaced.

Speaking of old shit and aftermarket news: Primo Rivera has sold and we will find out more shortly. And I received a note from a builder who is having problems with V-Twin or Tedd’s cycles early bike petcocks and front brake drums cracking. Watch out.

Let’s hit the news:

SEMA-Supported REPAIR Act Heard— in Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee

The U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Innovation, Data,Capitol and Commerce held a hearing this week on “Proposals to Enhance Product Safety and Transparency for Americans.” The subcommittee hearing included the review of 14 bills, including H.R. 906, “Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act.”

The SEMA-supported REPAIR Act is a bipartisan bill that would ensure automotive enthusiasts, aftermarket parts manufacturers, and repair shops have access to the information and tools needed to maintain and personalize vehicles as automotive technology evolves.

SEMA President and CEO Mike Spagnola submitted a formal statement supporting H.R. 906 and encouraged lawmakers to expand the bill to include similar protections to protect businesses that produce and install parts that modify or customize vehicles. “SEMA strongly supports the REPAIR Act as drafted but also requests that the bill be expanded to clarify that it protects the right to modify vehicles, ensuring that auto manufacturers cannot employ any technological, legal, or cryptographic barriers that impede the ability of an aftermarket parts manufacturer or a vehicle repair facility to produce or install aftermarket parts and software that are custom, upgrade, or modify a vehicle,” Spagnola said.

The REPAIR Act was introduced by U.S. Representative Neal Dunn (R-FL) and Reps. Brendan Boyle (D-PA), Warren Davidson (R-OH), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA). It currently has 42 co-sponsors (21 Republicans and 21 Democrats). Click here to send a letter to your U.S. Representative asking them to support and expand the REPAIR Act to protect our right to modify vehicles.

THE EASYRIDERS MAGAZINE REPORT–

The Easyriders magazine website shows a message that appears as a pop-up on the re-invented “Classic” Easyriders magazine website. This is after two years into the re-launch of this iconic motorcycling lifestyle publication.

Two specific things noted after reviewing the website:

1. The September 2023 issue is not listed for sale
2. There is no link nor button nor any webpage for purchase of annual subscription

It is unknown if there is any refunds or cancellations or any other subscriber related issues– and we don’t intend to speculate.

Below is the text reproduction from the screenshot for your information and reference only.

THERE IS NO CLIMATE EMERGENCY–

In response last month, more than 1,600 scientists, among them two Nobel physics laureates, Clauser and Ivar Giaever of Norway, signed a declaration stating that there is no climate emergency, and that climate advocacy has devolved into mass hysteria. The skeptics say the radical transformation of entire societies is marching forth without a full debate, based on dubious scientific claims amplified by knee-jerk journalism.

Many of these climate skeptics reject the optimistic scenarios of economic prosperity promised by advocates of a net-zero world order. They say the global emissions-reduction targets are not achievable on such an accelerated timetable without lowering living standards and unleashing worldwide political unrest.

THE 100-WORD FICTION CONTEST ROCKS ON— RIDE

Woke up on Saturday. Rushed to get dressed and gulped down a quick cup of coffee. It was late fall when I had finally picked up my new Road Glide, which I parked in the garage. With anticipation off the charts, I looked over my shiny new steed. Pulled on my 5-Ball leather and then hit the button for the garage door.

Shit, there was a foot of new snow. Damn New England weather.

Went back to bed.

NEW STUDY JUST RELEASED–Results of media brain washing.

Questionnaire: you might be surprised by the answers!

What percentage of the United States is black?

What percentage of marriages are mixed race?

What percentage of the United States is “Latino”?

How many families make more than $500,000 per year?

What percent of Americans are vegetarians?

What percent of Americans live in New York City?

What percentage of Americans are ‘transgender’?

The Poll Results:

This should be a wake-up call if you don’t already know this… A recent poll was conducted by a national polling outfit. Names don’t matter. They are all the same. This one was “YouGov.” Results to these questions asked of average people on the street:

1. What percentage of the country is black?
Answers – 41%…
Actual 13%.

If you watch commercials, you would think it is 90%.

2. What percentage of marriages are mixed race?
Answers 50%…
Actual 1%.

If you watch commercials, you would think it is 90%.

3. What percentage is “Latino”?
Answers 39%…
Actual 17%.

4. How many families make more than $500,000 a year?
Answers 26%…
Actual figure 1%.

We think a quarter of the country is rich.

5. What percent of Americans are vegetarians?
Response? 30%…
Actual 5%.

6. What percent of Americans live in New York City?
Answers? 30%…
Actual 3%.

7. What percentage of Americans are ‘transgender?
Answers 22%…
Actual number 0.5% (that is POINT 5 or 5 tenths of 1 percent)

So why do people have such inaccurate thoughts on these counts? THE MEDIA! The media runs race, gender, and wealth stories constantly. Result? You are being brainwashed by the national left with the media. Hitler’s propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels would be proud if he had half the success.

Disney just went full-on “gender.” It will no longer welcome guests with the traditional “Welcome ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.”

Why? Because 0.5% of the population dictates to the other 99% (that would be the vast majority), and corporate America falls for it.

Regardless of what you think, less than 20% of Americans use “Twitter,” yet Twitter controls 80% of public opinion. Why? Because the media is so effective at what it does. It promotes as well as censors. Think about it.

Next time you are thinking Americans have changed and not in a good way, remember, it’s mostly fake. It’s all a lie. Most people think just like you do but the media has brainwashed Americans with constant broadcasting of LIES.

It’s called social engineering. It’s here and it’s effective.

NEW JERSEY SET TO BAN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
DON’T DELAY!

Please contact the Department of Environmental Protection immediately to voice your opposition:

YOU MAY USE THE FOLLOWING POINTS IN YOUR MESSAGE:

Banning the sale of internal combustion engines will remove competition from existing, proven technologies, which will mean higher costs for electric vehicles for New Jersey families.

The government should allow the market to continue to innovate all forms of technology that significantly reduce vehicle emissions, not just battery electric vehicles.

The automotive industry is embracing new technology to make vehicles cleaner and more efficient, which includes hydrogen, new synthetic fuels, alternative fuels, and improvements to the internal combustion engine.

New Jersey families should be free to decide what is best for them, independent of energy policies made elsewhere.

Overview: New Jerseys Department of Environmental Protection announced the “New Jersey’s Low-Emission and Zero-Emission Vehicle Programs” regulation. If enacted, the sale of new gas- and diesel-powered cars and trucks will be banned starting in 2035. Make your voice heard by submitting comments to the state by October 20, 2023.

FLORIDA MOTORCYCLE RIGHTS MEETING A SUCCESS–Very good initial meeting after 20 years of little to no contact with ABATE of FL, we were received well.

It was a Chapter meeting in Daytona attended by all the State Officers and most Chapter Presidents, our small support over the years has come out of this Chapter

Bobby C from MPP was there as were two diamond clubs and 7 other clubs. Bobby C was strong for the MRF and touted our leadership in all the partnerships.

They gave me the floor first. Our agenda and call to work together resonated strongly.

The analytics around members, call to actions, and lack of number of federal legislators involved sent a clear message, basically the MRF and the nation’s motorcyclists needs the number 2 state in motorcyclists to be engaged. They committed to it.

Still, lots of training over several more phone calls needs to be done but we got a commitment for BITB and MOTM attendance. Will need help at some point from Reps, Membership, Communication, our office and DC after the next round of calls.

I committed to attending and presenting at their State Meeting in December and am looking at dates to attend a meeting and event with all three of their Confederations.

They do a cool thing after the meeting they call a Meet and Greet at a local biker bar, most meeting participants came and more of the community of course was around to be with the cool kids, a lot of business and clearing up misconceptions occurred there.

Craig Ashbaugh showed up at the meeting and greet. It was awesome to see him again.

Lots of work ahead but I am confident Florida is back.

FOSSIL FUELS: Nature’s Solar Batteries

As a subscriber to the work of the CO2 Coalition, you likely share our appreciation of the many benefits of CO2. But are you aware that oil, gas and coal are the direct result of nature harnessing the power of the primordial sun via the process of photosynthesis?

Most realize that coal (that provided 25% of all energy globally in 2022) is the result of trees and plants. The carbon that we are now liberating was originally captured from carbon dioxide removed from the air via photosynthesis, deeply buried and converted to coal.

Oil and gas provided another 52% of global energy in 2022, but few are aware of the origin of these fossil fuels.

The source of oil and gas is also originally from sun-powered photosynthesis. In the ancient oceans, certain basins had recurring algal blooms that bloomed, died and fell to the primeval seafloor. The algae were photosynthesis-driven phytoplankton that accumulated over the many millennia as layers of organic-rich muds. These layers were tens or hundreds of feet thick. They were buried deeply, and the thermogenic heat converted the organics first to oil and with higher temperatures to natural gas.

Based on this information, we can correctly refer to fossil fuels as natural solar-powered energy or, if you like, giant solar energy storage batteries!

Note: Oil and gas are NOT abiotic. That theory was quite thoroughly debunked many decades ago but still lives on in internet postings.

The above material was drawn from my upcoming new book, A Very Convenient Warming – How Modest Warming and More CO2 are Benefiting Humanity, that will be published in late October 2023.

THE NERDS & GEEKS FILE— Educating the Machine Learning Technology

The Nerds & Geeks shall inherit the world

In the time of the ancients, they fed Gods and Goddesses, then they fed the dragons and giants. Soon, it was decided to force feed geese, pigs, cattle, babies, until the media and the establishment decided to force-feed all the people with specific data.

Among them, artists and writers decided to be freethinkers and be exceptions to the norm. Cool and unconditioned does not necessarily mean they are liked. Some of them are downright insufferable.

Then the ‘squares’, the nerds and geeks came along and wondered what is so special about art and poetry. Couldn’t anyone do it? After all, people with Literature or Fine Arts degrees don’t necessarily have a worthwhile career in their desired field.

Now it seems nerds and techies are determined to prove any idiot can be an artist or a writer.

QUICK, OPEN THE BANDIT’S CANTINA BAD JOKE LIBRARY

A Texan, A Floridian, and a Californian all die and go to hell. While there, they see a red phone and ask what the phone is for.

The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.
The Texan asks to call Dallas and talks for 5 minutes. When he is finished, the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so the Texan writes him a check.

Next the Floridian calls Miami and talks for 30 minutes. When he is finished, the devil informs him that the cost is 6 million dollars, so he writes him a check.

Finally, the Californian gets his turn he calls Sacramento and talks for 4 hours. When he is finished, the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00. When the Texan hears this, he goes ballistic and asks the devil why the Californian got to call Sacramento so cheaply.

The devil smiles and replies, “Since Gavin Newsome took over, the state has gone to hell, so it’s a local call.”

DIRECT FROM THE DOOMDAY FILES–

The Irony of “Green” Charging Stations: The Harris Ranch Tesla Supercharger Station– Touted as the world’s largest charging station with a whopping 98 charging bays, one would expect this facility to be the epitome of green energy. After all, back in 2017, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk proudly declared that all Superchargers in the automaker’s network were transitioning to solar.

“Over time, almost all will disconnect from the electricity grid,” he confidently posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

But as it turns out, the reality is quite different.

“Superchargers charge vehicles up to the 80% sweet spot in as little as 20 minutes, but to provide that kind of power for nearly 100 bays takes something solar can’t provide — diesel generators.”

https://cowboystatedaily.com/2023/09/30/largest-ev-charging-station-in-the-world-uses-diesel-powered-generators/

That’s right. Diesel generators. The very antithesis of the clean, green energy that Tesla and other electric vehicle (EV) proponents have been preaching about. Investigative journalist Edward Niedermeyer made the startling discovery that these diesel generators were conveniently tucked away behind a Shell station. And when reporters from SF Gate tried to ascertain just how much of the station’s electricity came from these generators, Tesla remained conspicuously silent.

LIFE IS NUTS—But we’re having a blast in the Black Hills. A couple of brothers are out riding daily, to get the oil flowing before winter steps in.

Charlie, one day was riding a rare ’39 UA flathead, military model.

Rusty rode a ’38 Knucklehead built by Paul Wheeler in Los Angeles. Paul is a master.

It’s a beautiful classic and these guys ride constantly. Two days later I ran into them at the same Pump House coffee shop, riding two more classics.

I picked up my cut-down spacer from Reno at Clauser Machine and found out about their early boring capabilities. I’ll be back with my ’13 barrels.

As soon as John’s Linkert carb hits the road I’ll be all over my VL, XA, FL Knucklehead again.

My lovely granddaughter is in Belize. She is currently loving life as you can see.

With the help of Ron Waldren of Snowflake construction, I scored and installed rocks around my base parking area. Had to get it done before the snow.

Finally reached the owner of this bike. Should have a feature posted next week.

Stay free and riding forever…
