STATE NEWS
Last week the California DMV proposed to allow cars that don’t have pedals, a steering wheel or a human driver to be tested on public roads by year’s end.
Federal regulators would first have to sign off on such testing, according to the proposal. In addition, the DMV will require that someone at least be monitoring a car remotely if a human cannot take control of it during emergency situations.
California is one of many states that will examine the role of autonomous vehicles and how they fit in with local laws and ordinances. The MRF is watching this activity and also lobbying at the federal level ensuring that motorcyclists are protected from any potential dangers of these newly emerging self-driving cars.

As many of you know, last year the MRF assumed a new endeavor related to the unconstitutional practice of motorcycle profiling. After reports began to rise from our own membership citing instances where they felt singled out by law enforcement simply because of their appearance, apparel, or because they are simply riding a motorcycle, the MRF decided to take action.
As a part of our advocacy in this area, we are working with the Motorcycle Profiling Project (MPP) to help supply data to support our arguments over the concern and rise of motorcycle profiling. In 2017, the Motorcycle Profiling Project has launched a survey designed to reach an even broader audience to help gather data. Its results will be used as critical tools in the efforts to obtain legislative relief across the country.

Re-imagining a Harley-Davidson Trike
I believe the tow bar on the Indian dispatch and the Harley Servi-car was used for towing the trike with the car and then allowing the deliveryman to return to the garage by riding the trike. Hence the tow bar being on the front of the trike.

Words from the NEW MEXICO NMMRO Chairman– Our 14th Annual NMMRO Bike Day at the Capital brought together approximately 350 to 400 motorcyclist, bicyclist, survivors of motorcycle crashes and family of fallen motorcyclist to our state capital on February 25.
We filled the rotunda so our voices could be heard as one to promote safety awareness on our roads, and to support legislation for an increase in fines for careless, reckless and distracted driving. Survivors of motorcycle crashes were honored with a survivor patch and a poem.
The families of fallen motorcyclist Eloise Armijo and Jerry Hicks joined us to honor their loved ones. Thank you to Law Tigers for printing our flyers, Thank you to Thunderbird Harley for allowing us to start our journey at their dealership, and to David Pearson from Santa Fe Harley for providing lunch for our group and for providing a stop to pick up our other riders.
Thank you to our speakers Rick Miera, Tom Newell for an excellent presentation on the dangerous of texting while driving and on the dangers of unsecure loads, and to Dozer Ruben Moore for honoring our Veterans.
Thank you to Khal Spencer and Ann Overton, Jennifer Buntz and the bicycling community for their support and attendance. Thank you to an amazing NMMRO board of directors for help making the day a success. Most of all thank you to everyone who attended and supported the NMMRO and motorcyclist in our state.
As most of us are aware, there has been a shift in the political leadership in Santa Fe. We have new freshmen senators and representatives who are anxious to try and “change the world.” Some have degrees in political science and others are the common working man. In either case they have lots of surprises in store for them.
The first one being this; “All calculations based on our experiences elsewhere fail in New Mexico ~ Governor Lea Wallace 1881.” So when some of those new legislators reached out to the elder statesmen about passing some sort of helmet bill (because they thought they might save the motorcycle community), they were very quickly informed of the potential yet, powerful opposition (Yes the NMMRO and many in motorcycle community who feel it should be rider choice) they would encounter.
Our attempts to have our careless driving bill introduced during this session were not as successful as we had hoped. The bill that was introduced was modified without or knowledge or consent, and we felt did not meet the intended results we wished to achieve. So, respectfully we withdrew our support for the bill as introduced, and did we did so also to protect the integrity our organization. Our state leaders need to understand that we will not accept a watered down hand out.
Currently we have shifted our efforts into supporting Senate bill 55 introduced by Senator Steven Neville, this bill would increase fines for reckless driving and texting while driving. Although this bill has many facets, it is a solid bill to combat distracted driving in our community.
This bill was brought to light by Summer Jakino-Whistle, Mrs. New Mexico 2016, after the death of her father at the hands of a reckless driver. We feel that this bill can benefit the riding community and others impacted by distracted driving and reckless driving.
The bill has currently passed the senate floor with a vote of 24 Yes and 16 No, and is currently waiting to be heard in the House. While following this bill through a committee hearing, it was interesting to discover that one of the concerns brought up was the impact on indigent and low income individuals if they have to pay higher fines for their carelessness.
So, I guess if you injure or kill one of us, as long as you are poor an indigent, you get a free pass in the eyes of one of our Senators and the defense attorneys association who came in opposition of the bill.
2017 has already been a bad year for motorcycle crashes. To date there have been 47 motorcycle crashes reported to the NMMRO, with 10 fatalities. 20 of those have been cruisers, 17 of those have been sports bikes, 8 unknown reported, 1 trike and 1 scooter. Five of the fatalities have been sports bikes and 5 have been cruisers and one unknown.
Important things to do after a motorcycle crash; Never admit liability, if you are at fault the investigation will provide that information later. Identify witness and drivers and obtain name and phone numbers and statements if possible. Obtain a police reports as soon as possible, hey are usually available within 10 days. If you feel the report is inconsistent or incorrect, police officers have advised NMMRO officers you can go into a police station and add an amendment, so it is part of the report.
Immediately notify your insurance company and protect your legal rights and obtain legal advice. If you are in the hospital and are unable to do so, advice your family or friends as what needs to be done.
Because of our dangerous lifestyle, please discuss the WHAT IF CONVERSTION with your family in case of a motorcycle crash, God forbid one ever occurs. I urge each of you to become ambassadors for safety awareness and talk to at least 10 persons on dangers of the road, remind them to look out for motorcyclists, don’t text and drive, don’t drink and drive, don’t ride and drink.
Driving and riding is not a right or a privilege but a responsibility, which should be taken very seriously. Always be courteous to all who share the road.
It was disappointing that a state District Court judge dismissed the vehicular homicide case against Megan Carrillo who had been charged with killing motorcyclist Jerry Hicks in an August crash at a Santa Fe intersection that had gone dark during a widespread power outage.
Judge Glenn Ellington, sided with Carrillo’s attorney to dismiss a grand jury indictment against her because a prosecutor failed to present evidence to jurors that may have been exculpatory. Judge Ellington dismissed the case without prejudice, which means prosecutors could refile the charges against Carrillo.
Prosecutor Todd Bullion district attorney’s options include to continue to pursue the case and to present evidence to a new grand jury or to go through a public preliminary hearing, in which a judge would then decide if there’s probable cause to charge Carrillo. Dashboard camera video from a police car traveling southbound showed Carrillo’s SUV, traveling northeast on Cerrillos, slamming into the motorcyclist and rolling over him and his motorcycle. Jerry Hicks’ wife Michelle and 18-year-old daughter were approaching the intersection in a different vehicle and witnessed the collision. Jerry Hick’s was one of fallen motorcyclist honored at bike day.
Another disappointment while fighting for justice was when Judge Louis McDonald released Maryann O’Quinn to her mother after victims request a high bond and argued she should be locked up, but in the end it was not what the victims were hoping for.
Last August, Maryann O’Quinn was speeding around a curve near Cochiti Lake and crashed into a group of motorcyclists. O’Quinn and her three passengers were ejected. Her own 15-year-old daughter was killed. O’Quinn is facing charges which including vehicular homicide and child abuse.
The prosecution argued she is a flight risk because she is facing up to 63 years in prison, which makes her a potential flight risk. The judge ordered O’Quinn to be booked into jail and then released, so she will have a mug shot taken, but she did not spend any significant time in jail. The two other passengers in O’Quinn’s car were her nephews. One of her nephews was on life support for several days that is why she is facing child abuse charges.
The crash left members of our community Jeremy and Lauren Wallaert without limbs and Deb Hill with serious injuries to her leg. Several other motorcyclists also received injuries in the crash. A community has rallied to assist the motorcycle crash victims, therefore is very discouraging for Quinn to walk out while our friends are learning to walk again. Many of us are questioning, where is the justice in many of these cases where it appears the criminals have more rights than victims do.

FROM THE WEEK MAGAZINE— Biker crews aren’t typically known for their gentler side, but one all-female club is burning rubber for a good cause.
The “milk riders” of New Your City’s Sirens Motorcycle Club deliver much needed breast mild to newborns and preemies in hospitals and home across the city. The bikers are on call at all hours and weave through traffic to dispatch donation from the New York Mild Band.
“They are a fabulous group,” says the milk band’s founder, Julie Bouchet-Horwitz, “They’re always there to help.”

IDAHO PROFILING BILL REPORT–
HB 123 Voted down on the Senate Floor
No Profiling Law in Idaho This Year.
A great effort by the motorcycling community was made this year to institute a motorcycle profiling law in the Idaho State Legislature. It was introduced in the House of Representatives as HB123 and passed unanimously with 69 Ayes, 0 Nays and 1 Absent.
However, on the Senate floor the bill failed with 13 Ayes, 22 Nays and 0 absent.
Arguments against the bill stated that many law enforcement entities have been contacted and no complaints of profiling have been filed. Senator Foreman District 5 stated “I took some time, made the rounds, talked to a number of senior law enforcement officials in the area, they’re not aware of a multitude of complaints about this topic. People aren’t coming in and expressing their concerns. I’ve talked to rank and file patrol officers as well, again they’re not aware of all these complaints.”
Senator Foreman also stated “As a former law enforcement officer, I am insulted by this bill.” Senator Lodge District 11 stated “I’ve checked with the State Police, the Canyon County Sheriff, Meridian, Boise Chief’s, Twin Falls Chief’s and I’ve talked to others, and they have no filed complaints from motorcyclists of profiling.”
Senator Lodge also stated “Even the leaders of the motorcycle group could not give me information on complaints being filed about being profiled in Idaho.” Lodge also stated “We do not profile in Idaho.” Senator Bair District 31 read a letter from Sheriff Craig Rowland. “My thoughts on this bill of past are these. A person who is stopped for probable cause, who is a motorcycle gang member wearing colors, are going to take us to court and cite this profiling law. We already have a hard enough time to do our jobs without the legislature making the law like this.”
Other arguments against the bill were that this bill should apply to all people within Idaho, not to the select few that choose to ride motorcycles. Senator Burgoyne District 16 made a motion to amend HB123 to the 14th Order but that motion did not gain enough votes to carry.
Arguments for the bill did, in fact, help the case that there is profiling present within law enforcement entities. Senator Agenbroad District 13 opened with “I’ve spoken with several friends in law enforcement who stated hearance to this definition is consistent with patrol best practices. They agree that profiling is not an acceptable practice. While they’re many examples of what we’re talking about, this bill is about the future, not about the past.
The goal today is to take a step toward improving the relationship between law enforcement and the motorcycle community. This bill can serve as a training marker between the two communities to improve relations. In fact, this bill has already started the conversations.
The division administrator at POST, Victor McCraw has extended an invitation to the motorcycle community, to provide motorcycles and people to assist POST at their facility while profiling training.” Senator Rice District 10 referred to an incident where a vehicle with Oregon State license plates that read KRONIK. “The Police report stated that the reason for pulling the vehicle over was the license plate said KRONIK.” Senator Davis District 33 related to an incident where he believed he had been profiled, because the vehicle he was driving had Senate issued license plates. Senator Davis did not recollect whether a formal complaint had been filed with the police department.
Senator Buckner-Webb District 19 argued “My concern is, one of the justifications was many police departments have no reporting that profiling has occurred, well I must share with you that oftentimes of one down or targeted population or population that feels targeted does not feel safe to report it or feel that it will be heard.”

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY DURING OUR UNION LUNCH BREAK– A union boss walks into a bar next door to the factory, and is about to order a drink, when he sees a guy close by wearing a TRUMP for President button, and two beers in front of him.
He does not have to be an Einstein, to know that this guy, is a Republican.
So, he shouts over to the bartender so loudly that everyone can hear, “Drinks for everyone in here, bartender, but not for the Republican.”
Soon after the drinks have been handed out, the Republican gives him a big smile…, waves at him then says, “Thank you!'” in an equally loud voice. This infuriates the union boss.
The union boss once again loudly orders drinks for everyone except the Republican. As before, this does not seem to bother the Republican.

NEW TOP GEAR AMERICA HOSTS–
While the new “Top Gear” has been revitalized with a new cast of hosts, the word about “Top Gear America” has been nowhere to be found. Thankfully, BBC America announced today that they are bringing back the American version of the car show with a new set of hosts.
The new hosts will be actor William Fichtner, world champion drag racer Antron Brown and British automotive journalist Tom “Wookie” Ford.
As for how the show will operate, BBC America states the following: “Top Gear America will review not just exclusive and state-of-the-art vehicles, but also the cars of America’s culture-defining past. From the latest supercars to the ultimate in automotive engineering technology, Top Gear America will put the viewer in the passenger seat alongside the car-obsessed hosts, as they race the most incredible vehicles on the scenic highways and historic tracks of the American west.
Each week will feature a different celebrity who will compete for top honor on the leader board at the new Top Gear studio and track, Speed Vegas. Of course, the one and only Stig, Top Gear’s mysterious test driver, will be leaving everyone in his petrol-hazed wake.”
The new Top Gear America will air later this year with eight hour-long episodes.

WASHINGTON ACTIVISTS RALLY FOR LANE-SPLITTING–
Motorcycle advocates rallied in Olympia on Friday, March 17 in support of state Senate Bill 5378, which would allow motorcycles to go in-between cars stuck in traffic, or “split lanes.”
Some motorcyclists are demanding a public hearing. The bill has passed in the Senate with a bipartisan majority but has since been stuck in a House committee for weeks. Motorcyclists want a vote on it, and before that can happen, it needs a public hearing.
The issue has created a firestorm on social media, pitting many drivers against motorcycle riders who want to see the legislation pass in Washington State.
“In most cases we can split a lane and not interfere with anybody or not hit anybody, and we can move on right down the road,” Andy McAfee, a member of Spanaway ABATE, told CBS-affiliate KREM-2 news.
Basically, the law would allow motorcyclists to ride between lanes of cars in heavy traffic. They would have to keep their speeds below 35 mph and go no more than 10 mph above flow of traffic.
If passed, the legislation would also make vehicle drivers guilty of an infraction if they intentionally block a motorcycle from splitting lanes.
Currently, lane splitting is only legal in California, though similar measures have recently been introduced in Texas (S.B.288), Oregon (S.B.385) and Hawaii (H.B.727).
GEORGIA BILL WOULD ALLOW MOTORCYCLES TO FILTER FORWARD AT SIGNALS
Introduced February 27, House Bill 490 in Georgia would allow the operator of a motorcycle to “overtake and pass in the same lane occupied by the vehicle being overtaken under certain conditions”:
(1) The vehicle being overtaken is stationary in traffic awaiting the change of a traffic-control signal;
(2) The motorcycle is not traveling more than ten miles per hour; and
(3) The motorcycle is being maneuvered to be placed in front of stationary traffic or to gain access to an adjacent turning lane.

WASHINGTON STATE HELMET BILL–
Washington state ran the same helmet modification bill this year as last year that would allow riders over 18 to choose. It got stuck in the Transportation committee again although there was good support in both houses.
So ABATE tried another route via the House Business &Financial Institutions Committee same bill with the addition of motorcyclists would carry the minimum required liability insurance as other vehicle operators. Again made it through committee with a Do-Pass but had to go to Transportation where it is again hung up.
The Chair of that committee has said that nothing with motorcycle in it will ever get through her committee, regardless of what anyone else thinks. The Lane Sharing Bill is stopped in her committee also. (There are no quotation marks here because I paraphrased.)
Since this is a long session this year we had 105 days but the cut-off dates have passed so I think we’ll have to continue into next year.

CMT/ABATE is working on and new strategy this year, and most likely will not run a Freedom of Choice bill in this first session of two year General Assembly.
We are ECSTATIC that Arizona defeated the Mandatory Helmet law in the first committee that heard that bill this year. We are hopeful that any state facing a Mandatory Helmet initiative will be equally successful. The data of these efforts will be a HUGE part of our future strategy
We have been successful in having our Endowment Grant reinstated for Safety and Awareness from the Tennessee Department of Safety. On Wednesday, March 22, we will be producing the Don’t Ride Fried Carnival on the Entrance Patio of the Legislative Plaza. Check our facebooks for pics of this informative and fun event.

Rod Woodruff to be Honored as 2017 Hall of Fame Inductee– The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame will be presenting Sturgis Buffalo Chip President, Rod Woodruff with the J.C. Pappy Hoel Outstanding Achievement Award.

Woodruff will be presented with the Pappy Hoel Founders Award for individuals who have played a special role in the founding, maintaining and/or promoting of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the Lodge at Deadwood, Deadwood, SD.
For more than 35 years, Woodruff has given riders from every state and more than 28 countries a place to experience all things motorcycle alongside like-minded people in an atmosphere of unfettered camaraderie. The Buffalo Chip has become one of motorcycling’s must-visit destinations, a Mecca in the motorcycling world that beckons riders from across the globe, one of the world’s most televised and longest running independent motorcycle festivals and has generated millions of positive media impressions for motorcycling world-wide every year.
Woodruff’s consistent and savvy promotion of the Sturgis rally helped to preserve the event’s place in motorcycling while aiding dozens of related businesses, promoting tourism and boosting the regional economy. His tireless efforts are helping to bring racing back to the rally with a force by hosting American Flat Track, AMA Supermoto, RSD Super Hooligan and street drag races. In addition, by building an event center he was able to open the world-class Motorcycles as Art exhibit and employ famed motorcycle photographer, Michael Lichter to curate it. The annual exhibit is open free to the public.
His creation and continued support of the Legends Ride, Biker Belles Celebration and Freedom Celebration & Ride have provided more than half a million dollars to Black Hills charities and educational scholarships for local high school students. THE BUILD-OFF CHOPPER OF CHOPPERS FOR SALE– Cory Ness played a big part in this build and signed it. He will be inducted into the Sturgis Museum Hall of fame this summer.
Don’t think for a second that Cory Ness rode his famous father’s coattails into the Sturgis Hall Of Fame. At only 10 years old, he disassembled his bicycle, painted it, chromed its parts and entered it in the Oakland Roadster Show.
The first motorcycle he turned his talents to was a wrecked CB350. After building it back up, Cory sold it before even getting a chance to ride it. He was 14! Today Cory is the chief designer behind Arlen Ness Enterprises where he runs the day-to-day business.
In between designing new parts and accessories, he still finds time to wrench on custom bikes periodically.

First – ABATE of Idaho would like to thank everyone for your help in working with ABATE to get HO 123 passed in 2017.
A special thanks to Double D from MMP for helping ABATE of Idaho the last 2 years in getting the Bill ready. As an update as to what happened in the legislative process: The Bill passed the House Committee and Floor Unanimously. The Senate Committee Hearing was a little tougher due to a Senator on the Committee who is ex… law enforcement. The Bill did pass the Senate Committee Hearing and went to the Senate Floor. While still in RS Form, law enforcement was contacted as to their stance regarding the Bill. They stated they would not oppose it as they did not profile.
Once the House hearings and Senate committee hearings were over, law enforcement came out in full force against the Bill and it was defeated on the Senate floor because of the lies told by law enforcement. ABATE of Idaho is committed to and already working on bringing this forward again next session.
As riding season and motorcycle events are quickly approaching, ABATE needs documentation when profiling occurs. First, when out and about at motorcycle functions, riding, etc., please be aware of your surroundings and take photos and videos of law enforcement profiling, harassment, etc. If you are profiled, harassed, issued a citation, etc.
please contact Bree Walker or Lori B! From ABATE of Idaho. We can help you file a Complaint and request Records on your matter from law enforcement. We are in the process of putting together a packet to help anyone being profiled obtain all the documentation needed to show our Legislators this is happening.

JARED MEES, ON AN INDIAN WINS INAUGURAL DAYTONA TT
The American Flat Track season opener was won by Jared Mess on a factory Indian. It was Indian’s first win at Daytona since Floyd Emde crossed the finish line at the 1948 Daytona 200. The course was a challenging 6 mile dirt track built inside the Daytona raceway and held under the lights. Bryan Smith also on an Indian was 2nd and Henry Wiles, Kawasaki Ninja 650, 3rd.

The Grand Prix Legend, John Sortees, 83, died in London on March 10th. He was the only man to be world champion on 2 & 4 wheels. He won 1964 Formula 1 world championship for Ferrari and then won 7 motorcycle world championships for MV Agusta.

Tim was a gentle man that turned maniac on the track. He was a real sweetheart. Someone we were all proud to know. The article on him was great and well deserved but it didn’t cover one of Tim’s greatest racing achievements. Somehow he decided to try his hand at sprint car racing. Sprint Cars are by far the fastest, most dangerous and most difficult to control dirt cars to have ever been raced at Ascot. Tim was an expert at it and won many sprint car races on that lightning fast, tacky 1/2 mile clay oval. What a guy!!!

Motorcycle Riders Foundation Founder passes away– It is with great sadness that the Motorcycle Riders Foundation reports the passing of Michael “Balls” Farabaugh.
“Balls” was arguably the driving force behind much of the success the motorcyclists rights movement has enjoyed. Balls was one of the pioneers of rider education in Indiana and his influence carried into many states and has certainly resulted in saving thousands of lives.
“Balls” had an impact on motorcycling nationally and internationally. “Balls” actually founded the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF). His ideas and inspirational character motivated many of the leaders in the motorcycling community, and that continues as a lasting legacy. Indeed, riders around the world owe a debt to Michael “Balls” Farabaugh.

The Revival Team has working hard on a BMW R 1200 that is receiving the full Revival treatment. So far, we’ve determined a shape for the build, crafted an alloy fuel tank, front fender and headlight surround from scratch, relocated all electronics, re-wired the entire motorcycle, built a one-off stainless steel high mount exhaust, and fabricated a cantilever tail section.

Hi! I recently bought a hardtail frame that came with, what will probably be, the only magnum 45 engine here in Belgium…
The guy I bought it from started work on it, already has the WL case welded up and partially machined, but apparently lost interest and is now selling me a half finished Magnum 45!
As I do more research on it, I’m excited to tackle it! Also bought a small mill and lathe a few months ago, so I’ll be trying to do most, if not all the machining myself. But just wondering, since my experience level is not that great, is there a more extensive “how-to” manual available somewhere, with exact measurements and pictures and all?”

California: Update on Firearm-Related Bills heard in Committee Today, March 21
Today, March 21, several firearm- and hunting-related bills were heard and passed by their respective committees.
Anti-gun bill, AB 7, passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee by a party-line vote and will now move to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. AB 7 would further extend California’s ban on the open carry of an unloaded firearm while in or upon a public place or public street within a prohibited area located within the unincorporated area of a county.
Pro-hunting bill, AB 986, unanimously passed the Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee and will also move to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. AB 986 would recognize the many sacrifices our veterans have made by reducing sporting license fees in recognition of their service.
Anti-gun bill, SB 464, passed the Senate Public Safety Committee by a party-line vote and will now move to the Senate Appropriations Committee. SB 464 would increase the storage and security requirements of all firearms in the inventory of a licensed firearms dealer. California already has some of the strictest laws in the country regarding how dealers must store and secure firearms. This bill simply places more costs and mandates on law-abiding business owners.

AB-342 does not simply allow enforcement of speed laws using an automated enforcement system rather than a live police officer. AB-342 drastically changes California speed laws and enforcement in significantly negative ways. It eliminates virtually all current protections afforded to motorists in speed related cases and allows jurisdictions to run speed traps in their cities, ensuring that the program will be used as a revenue generation scheme, not for public safety. AB-342 makes the vehicle owner responsible for speeding tickets and takes away a defendant’s right to a trial. Instead, the ticket is treated as a civil violation which will be adjudicated in an administrative hearing without traditional due process rights.
AB-342 Sets Up Two Different Systems of Penalties and Adjudication for the Same Crime. Under AB-342 individuals charged with a speed violation are treated differently depending on whether their alleged violation is captured by an automated speed enforcement system vs a live police officer. Defendants ticketed by a live police officer are subject to harsher penalties – higher fines, violations points, etc, – than defendants ticketed using an automated speed enforcement system. On the other hand, defendants ticketed using an automated speed enforcement system are afforded less legal protections than defendants ticketed by a live police officer.
Further, even the lower fines issued by speed cameras can quickly spiral out of control. Multiple speeding tickets may be issued to the same vehicle prior to the owner receiving the first notice. AB-342 requires that the notice of violation shall be issued to the registered owner of the vehicle within 15 calendar days of the date of the violation. It would theoretically be possible for a vehicle owner who’s car passes the same speed camera every day to receive $1000 – $1500 worth of tickets prior to receiving the first notice and taking the proper action to adjust their driving or the driving of others using their cars. If the vehicle owner cannot pay these hefty fines, they will be unable to re-register their vehicle, leading to loss of income and spiraling poverty. If they must drive an unregistered vehicle and get pulled over, they then face a moving violation. Failure to appear on or pay this new violation can then lead to a bench warrant and arrest.
Although this is initially a “pilot program” for San Francisco and San Jose, if this bill becomes law, it means the inevitable proliferation of speed cameras throughout California. If we don’t stop this bill now, we will be fighting speed camera abuses in California for years to come.

Over the years many of us have made many goals and resolutions, especially around New Years. When we set these goals we are in a mood that there is nothing that can stop us from achieving them. The problem is when we allow life to get in the way we quickly forget about them. We may skip a day at the gym, reading that book or maybe have that desert and before we know it poof the goal is a thing of the past.
I have often wondered why some people set a goal and are able to stick to it. I Love watching the contestants on The Biggest Loser and the amazing success they have after so many failed attempts in the past. One thing I see about the big losers is that they have changed their Mind of who they are.
They have finally rid themselves of their stinkin’ thinkin’. Their trainers break down their idea that it is OK to fail and they begin to truly believe that they can do it. The biggest change they had is in themselves.
Have we taken on a Consciousness that it is OK to fail, that our patterns of not accomplishing our goals ARE acceptable? If this is true why do we then set the same goal fail and then beat the hell out of ourselves for not accomplishing them.
I Know that each one of us can accomplish any goal we choose. It begins in the Mind. As I have said many times the lessons of Life are repeated until they are learned. Today let’s try a different approach of setting goals.
Why not start by setting small goals, write them down and read them throughout the day.
Know that failure is not an option.
Today I set new goals from a new perspective. I refuse to repeat the past and Know that I am not alone on this path.
