Hey,
It’s all non-stop. We just wrapped Sturgis and Bonneville, and we are headed directly at the Love Ride, Biketoberfest, the Ultimate Builder Shows all over the country, the Cincy Dealer Show and it will be Valentines Day and we will be looking down the barrel of Daytona Bike Week.
Holy shit. I’m slammed with projects for next year, so I need to take advantage of the last couple of months of this year, so I’ve got a head start on next year. Can I do it and find a redhead born in the year of the Dragon or Monkey to share the adventure. Who the fuck knows? This is a killer news, so let’s get started.
The Thursday News is sponsored in part by IronWorks, Cycle Source, and Bikerpics.org.
RICK BRAY OF RKB KUSTOM SPEED, WINNER OF THE 2013 ARTISTRY IN IRON SPONSORED BY CYCLE SOURCE–Almost one year ago in San Mateo while shooting for the IMS Shows / Bikerpros Media / Ultimate Builders Competition, I saw this off the chart, stunning motorcycle being rolled into my photo studio. It was easy to tell that it was a build that was long in the making, meaning, each part was basically made by hand.
The story of the bike is one of the builders brother ran out of funds to work on the build, so Rick Bray picked up the pieces, and you can see the outcome. After speaking to Rick, he said that he will now give the bike back to his brother and begin a new build. Taking the grand prize of $10,000.00 will surely help with the next project. CONGRATS RICK! Well deserved.

AUSTRALIAN RAIDS SHAKE THE COUNTRYSIDE—Just yesterday we received a report of wide spread raids on club houses and club member homes in Australia. “They ripped the gates off fences to get in,” said anonymous contributor. Cops said they are in it for the long haul. Here’s a recent report:
Commissioner Ian Stewart announced Operation Resolve, which directed ‘unprecedented’ resources against motorcycle clubs, on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Stewart said the state government had provided $25 million up-front to support the hardline measures.
However, with all 28 of those arrested last Friday over a brawl at Broadbeach being granted bail, Stewart said the court system also needed to play its part.
“I think our people need to be confident that the courts are going to do everything that they can to make people suffer consequences of their actions and if that means staying inside without bail, pending court hearings, then that’s the case,” he said.
Stewart said it was “up to the community to decide” whether it was acceptable that the bikers were granted bail.
“My view is the community should be telling the people in power that that is their view,” he said.
“…I would hope that the judicial officers would take notice of the concern the community has about their personal safety.”
As head of Operation Resolve, Mr Pointing will oversee two separate taskforces.
Taskforce Takeback, headed by Superintendent Jim Keogh, will primary aim to stop street violence on the Gold Coast.
“Naturally, whilst police will always operate within the law, the threshold of tolerance has been lowered significantly,” Pointing said.
“Our job is very, very clear – it’s to have a high visibility on the streets and to stop the type of violence we’ve seen on the Gold Coast in the last couple of weeks.”
Pointing said Taskforce Maxima, headed by Superintendent Michael Niland, would focus on eliminating criminal motorcycle clubs in Queensland.
“Whilst (Taskforce Maxima) has a very strong focus on the Gold Coast, it also has a state-wide remit,” he said.
Pointing said Taskforce Maxima would work closely with the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Crime Commission, the Immigration Department and the Australian Tax Office.
Stewart said the Queensland Police Service was prepared for a long battle.
“(Operation Resolve will continue) until we rid Queensland of this menace,” he said.
“It may be years, but we’re hopeful that with the support of other agencies, we hope we can make definite inroads in a short period of time.”

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ALLOWED TO PRACTICE LAW IN CALIFORNIA-–
(Reuters) – Illegal immigrants can be licensed to practice law in California under one of eight bills expanding immigrant rights that were signed by Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday.
The California Supreme Court, which finalizes requests of applicants to be licensed as a lawyer in California, is now authorized to approve qualified applicants regardless of their immigration status.
Other new laws prohibit law enforcement officials from detaining immigrants based on federal government instructions except in cases of serious crimes or convictions, and make it illegal for employers to retaliate against workers on the basis of their citizenship.
“While Washington waffles on immigration, California’s forging ahead,” Brown said in a statement. “I’m not waiting.”
On Thursday, Brown signed a law making undocumented immigrants eligible to apply for drivers licenses. California, which will join at least nine other states when the law takes effect in 2015, expects 1.4 million people to apply for licenses over three years.
California is doing what it can at the state level in the absence of immigration reform by the U.S. Congress, he said.
Earlier this year, the Democratic-led U.S. Senate approved a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants living in the United States illegally, but the Republican-controlled House of Representatives is unlikely to follow suit.
The California law that allows illegal immigrants to practice law grew out of a case of an undocumented Mexican immigrant, Sergio Garcia, who was brought to the United States as a baby and later graduated from a California law school. He has received the support of the State Bar of California and the state attorney general.
Critics of Garcia’s bid to gain admission to the California bar included the U.S. Justice Department, which opposed it in a brief filed with the state’s Supreme Court last year.
While Garcia may now be admitted to the California bar, two other Mexican immigrants — one in New York and another in Florida — are pursuing similar cases.

FEMA ALERT, Facing a difficult economical situation, the riders of Europe band together–
What affects Europe affects all of its components, including the motorcyclists’ organizations. Yet the need to organize and defend themselves has never been so important, as more and more legislations concerning road users are designed at the European level – and not always with the citizens’ best interests at heart.
In this context of global economical hard times, the whole two-wheelers market is down, the average age of users keeps going up, people have less time and resources to be involved in non-profit organizations… At the same time, the various expenses for running a federation increase, the administrative burdens are multiplying, and new costs come on top. Among them, for instance, the CEN (European Committee for Standardization, where FEMA is involved on the riders-friendly guardrails issue) starts charging NGOs to follow its debates, when it should welcome the users’ expertise and work with and for them!
But the rider’s community is known for its solidarity. While FEMA’s only real resource is the membership fees from the national riders’ organizations that compose it, its committee voted at the last meeting on a generous gesture to lower the financial load of some of its members, who are actively contributing to the work but had some trouble keeping up due to the crisis in their own country.
At the same time, the committee set up a new lower starting fee to allow smaller organizations, for instance those in Eastern Europe, to unite in the constant fight for riders’ rights. FEMA calls all road users in Europe to join their local organization, and for new organizations to join it, as we are stronger together.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT VOCABULARY LESSON FOR THURSDAY–obverse OB-vurs, noun:
1. the side of a coin, medal, flag, etc., that bears the principal design (opposed to reverse). 2. the front or principal surface of anything. 3. a counterpart. 4. Logic. a proposition obtained from another by obversion.
This Lion is distinctly a beautiful coin, admirably made, with its value in fine, clear letters circling the obverse side, and a head thereon — of Newton, as I live!
I see the two of us, a blue shape, a red shape, in the brief glass eye of the mirror as we descend. Myself, my obverse.
Obverse comes from the Latin ob +vertere literally meaning “to turn toward.” It was first used in English in the mid-1600s.
Entry fee is $10 per motorcycle. Bikes ride-in 8 am to 10:30 am. Winners in 7 categories will receive a tour of Jay Leno’s garage, plus other prizes.
What makes this show so special compared to other years is the high caliber of judges we have this year.

MOTORCYCLE RIDERS FOUNDATION ALERT--Federal Shut Down & Petri Letter.
The Federal government has been shut down for a full week now and no doubt you have seen images or personally been effected by the closure. The shutdown is really having an impact on Capitol Hill. Most of the congressional staff has been sent home with direct orders to not check or respond to emails and phone calls.
Some of the staff have been deemed “essential” and are reporting for work. However, the staff that is working has been told to not work with staff from the other party or with any lobbyists. Essentially, everything is at a standstill, including the letter to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) written by Representative Tom Petri (WI), which was announced last week by the Motorcycle Riders Foundation.
Representative Petri has drafted a letter to the CDC asking them to no longer focus on motorcycle issues. In the letter Petri states, “Given the demands on your budget and the unique ability of the CDC to address such pressing issues as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and a host of other conditions, and issues which afflict millions of Americans and others around the globe, we encourage you to direct your attention and resources to areas that are not currently already being addressed elsewhere in the government.”
Petri is holding the letter to allow for other Members of Congress to co-sign the letter. The MRF had asked you to contact your elected officials and have them co-sign the Petri letter to the CDC and that is still the case. However, you may have difficulty reaching them and if you do, it’s likely that they will not be able to honor your request. The MRF is asking you to stay vigilant and once this shut down is over we will resume business as usual. With no clear end in sight it’s impossible to issue deadlines or timeframes for the letter.
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation will keep you informed on this issue.

BAD COPS— It was a COP who smashed the window of the Road Ranger in the New York – Member of a Cop Motorcycle Gang??????
Charges upgraded against undercover cop in SUV assault.
By Shimon Prokupecz, NBC News
Police had initially arrested Detective Wojciech Braszczok, 32, on charges of riot and criminal mischief.
Braszczok’s lawyer, John Arlia, said the new felony charges were not supported by the video, which showed that the officer wasn’t part of the assault on SUV driver Alex Lien, but had kicked the vehicle’s door and a back window that was already broken.
“His activities in that video depict him never having come into contact with Mr. Lien,” said Arlia.
“This defendant also did nothing to stop it,” said Turino, “including not calling 911.”
Bail was set at $100,000. Braszczok is expected to testify before a grand jury on Friday.
On Tuesday, Det. Braszczok was seen on a newly obtained video banging on the rear window of the SUV. Lien, who was beaten by numerous motorcyclists in the Sept. 29 incident, was then seen being pulled out of the car as the undercover officer rode off, the sources said.
Braszczok surrendered to police on Tuesday, accompanied by his attorney.
The video is not the one that has been widely distributed on YouTube, but has been reviewed by investigators, the sources said. It was recorded by a bystander using his iPad . It’s not clear when the video surfaced but investigators learned of it late Monday.
Read NBC New York’s report: Undercover NYPD cop seen on video smashing window in SUV-biker brawl.
Authorities have so far charged five men in connection with the assault on Lien.
They released photos Tuesday of more people who may have been involved in the brawl, and asked anyone with information to get in touch with New York Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or at the Crime Stoppers website.
The investigation continues, said a spokeswoman for Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance.
“As we said from the beginning of the investigation, the NYPD and the District Attorney’s Office are methodically scrutinizing the evidence to build the strongest possible cases in our continuing effort to hold accountable those responsible,” said Erin Duggan.
A law enforcement source told NBC News that some of Braszczok’s duties in the past included undercover work within the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Braszczok participated in protests, attended meetings and lived among protesters during parts of the movement, providing information to the NYPD, the source said. It is unclear how long Braszczok did that work.
As many as five other off-duty police officers may have been riding with the hundreds of motorcyclists who flooded Manhattan on Sept. 29 as part of an annual biker event called Hollywood Stuntz.

IRWINDALE RACEWAY EVENT NOTICE: Late November Event Will Not Take Place In 2013–The November 30 “Fall Classic” race weekend will not be run this season at Irwindale Speedway as previously-announced. “We’ll conclude our 2013 NASCAR season with a final race on November 2 and then get on with the planning and preparation for our 2014 oval track season,” said track GM/COO Bob Klein.
Even though the official NASCAR racing season ends on November 2, exciting NHRA Street Legal Drag Racing will continue on Thursday nights (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas), and events like the annual Mooneyes Holiday Party, tuning and testing for next year’s race cars, movie shoots, TV shows, and other uses (like fire, police, and emergency response training) will keep IEC very busy through what people used to call: … “off season”. That time never comes around here!
“Our IEC team is very much looking forward to a full season of NASCAR and NHRA racing in 2014, along with operating our on-site LA Racing Experience stock car driving school and hosting a wide range of the special events that always add so much flavor and value to the fan experience here at Irwindale Event Center,” Klein remarked.
“One more thing,” Klein added, “everyone needs to stay tuned for the announcement of a special NASCAR event that we’re working on to kick off our 2014 racing season in spectacular style.”

AUSSIE RIDERS REPORT: Queensland premier ramps up anti-biker rhetoric–
There are press claims that motorcycle club members riding in groups of three or more could be charged under new anti-biker laws in the Australian state of Queensland and that New South Wales (NSW), Australia’s most populous state, is being asked to add support.
Queensland premier Campbell Newman says he wants the toughest suite of anti-biker laws in the world, said by him to be in response to a fight on the Gold Coast last week between two rival groups.Police say they believe the increase in violence is due to an influx of bikers from Sydney.
Mr Newman’s proposed laws would mean that police could seize the motorcycles of bikers riding in groups of three or more and also disqualify them from driving. NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell would not say whether he would follow suit on the laws yesterday, preferring to “wait to see Queensland legislation before commenting”.
But Mr Newman says he has made contact with NSW premier Mr O’Farrell on the proposals and personally briefed Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner about concerns Sydney bikers will head north to take on his government.
Mr O’Farrell says he met NSW police commissioner Andrew Scipione over the weekend to map out what NSW can do to back Mr Newman in ensuring that, once the QLD laws are in place, the so called Sydney biker reinforcements don’t head north.
Mr Newman’s laws also mean that any motorcyclists riding together will face police scrutiny regardless of whether they belong to an motorcycle club or not.
Queensland Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie yesterday confirmed that riders would not have to be in club colours to warrant police attention if they were in groups of three or more.
But he added that only members of so called ‘criminal motorcycle gangs’ would face prosecution under the laws making it an offence for them to gather in groups.
“There’s a saying about power in numbers and these criminal motorcycle gangs try to use their numbers to strike fear in the community,” Mr Bleijie said.
“Limiting their ability to ride in big groups would make running their criminal enterprises more difficult and it would help prevent the kind of mass intimidation we saw at Broadbeach.
“It would also ease the disruption they cause during their annual runs. Anything that could help stamp out criminal motorcycle gangs is on the table and we’ll be able to announce further tough changes in coming weeks.”
The new moves would complement increased powers Mr Newman is also expected to introduce for the Crime and Misconduct Commission to require bikers (or any other person that the police desire) to answer questions.
Other changes going to Queensland Cabinet today as part of proposed anti-racketeering laws will see bikers banned from specific locations – possibly even their own clubhouses – owning, operating or working in a tattoo parlour and wearing club colours in a licensed venue.
The so called biker problems hit fever pitch in the media and Government circles following a fight at Broadbeach a fortnight ago where more than 20 people were arrested after a fight erupted involving the Bandidos and two alleged associates of the Finks motorcycle club.
Police claim some Bandidos had flown in from Sydney to bolster numbers.
It’s been reported some police panicked, utilising liberal dosages of pepper spray and consequently inflamed an already tense situation.
I love it, in a sic way. One politician wants to make folks who are breaking the law in California okay to get high-paying jobs, while in Australia the government wants to bust legal guys because they are wearing a patch. No wonder politicians are not to be trusted.–Bandit
MIKUNI HSR42 Performance Carburetor Kits for Sportsters and Buells–The popular Mikuni HSR42 Performance Carburetor Kits are the industry performance standard for Sportsters, Buells and stock Big Twins by offering a 25% increase in power and torque when used with an aftermarket exhaust system.
All Mikuni HSR smoothbore carburetors offer the highest air flow possible while providing highly accurate fuel metering, more power, and Mikuni’s renowned precision throttle response. Carburetors are designed with an 8-roller bearing flat throttle slide assembly for smooth throttle control with reduced effort, that allows an unobstructed venturi at full throttle to flow more air, while it meters fuel more precisely at all throttle settings. And the Mikuni adjustable accelerator pump provides instant throttle response in any riding or performance application. While a high capacity float bowl prevents fuel starvation even under full throttle applications.
Mikuni offers two different HSR42 Performance Carburetor Kits for for Sportsters and Buells. BAD COP FILE DISCOVERED OPEN–20 days in jail in illegal strip search case
BY: Associated Press
MILWAUKEE (AP) – A Milwaukee County judge has sentenced a former police officer to 20 days in jail for “not stepping up” when fellow officers were performing illegal searches of suspects.
Jacob Knight was one of four Milwaukee police officers charged in the illegal strip search case. Knight earlier pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of an illegal body cavity search as part of a plea deal in which a felony misconduct charge was dismissed.
Knight has resigned from the police department. WTMJ-TV said Judge Jeffrey Wagner also sentenced Knight to 60 hours of community service and fined him $300 Friday.
More than a dozen victims of the illegal searches have filed federal civil rights suits against the city and a number of officers.

MEANWHILE BACK IN THE BAD JOKE LIBRARY–The owner of a golf course in Georgia was confused about paying an invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help. He called her into his office and said, “Y’all graduated from the University of Georgia and I need some help. If I wuz to give yew $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?”
The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, “Everthang but my earrings.”
Louisiana
A senior citizen in Louisiana was overheard saying, “When the end of the world comes, I hope to be in Louisiana .”
When asked why, he replied, “I’d rather be in Louisiana ‘cause everythang happens in Louisiana 20 years later than in the rest of the world.”
Mississippi
The young man from Mississippi came running into the store and said to his buddy, “Bubba, somebody just stole your pickup truck from the parking lot!”
Bubba replied, “Did y’all see who it was?”
The young man answered, “I couldn’t tell, but I got the license number.”

A MEMO FROM THE OFFICIAL BIKERNET PHILOSOPHER: Are We Part of the Problem or Part of the Solution?–Over the last few weeks I have faced some Health challenges. Much of my attention was focused on the problem rather than the solution.
I was so caught up in the moment that I neglected to do the things that always give me strength to take on any situation. One of the big ones was I did not get back into my morning writings which help me get back in touch with Spirit when I am lead astray. For the first few days while I was in the hospital I couldn’t pick up my computer.
The other two big ones include reading inspirational words and pausing to close my eyes and get centered. As I write these words this morning I am a little frustrated with myself for not doing these things. In this world there are so many distractions, which can force us off course.
We must be consistent and persistent to continue to improve our lives, but we usually have an excuse why we don’t. Think about things like diets, working out, writing, relationships, praying, addiction recovery, reading, practicing something we want to improve. If we miss one day it isn’t hard to get back on track, miss a second and it gets harder, miss three in a row and we find all the excuses why we can’t start again. It takes character to stay on track.
And So It Is

MAJOR PROBLEM IN AMERICA–
When I set out to make my documentary, “Out of Reach,” my goal was to raise awareness about just how many teens are abusing medicine. I had no idea I had begun a life-changing journey, and I didn’t fully understand the true scope of the problem. So many of my friends and classmates were abusing medicine like it was no big deal; but what I learned through talking with them is that prescription drugs can be incredibly addictive, and medicine abuse is, in fact, a very big deal.
It struck me that if even I, a senior in high school, didn’t understand just how deep this issue went in my school, it was likely that parents had no clue about the number of teens who think it’s okay to abuse medicine. Many of my friends said they got prescription drugs and over-the-counter cough medicine by taking it right out of their medicine cabinet at home, without their parents’ knowledge.
You can do more than just watch the “Out of Reach” trailer: you can use the full-length film and an accompanying tool kit to educate your friends, family, community, and co-workers about the issue of teen medicine abuse. In fact, two screenings have already taken place, at the Genart Film Festival in New York City and in Washington, DC, on Capitol Hill.
If my film can help save the life of one teen, or prevent one family from experiencing the devastation that medicine abuse can cause, then I’ve truly accomplished something worthwhile. Together, we can help end medicine abuse.

Plus he still prints in black and white which gives the images a stark classic look. You may have seen some of them in IronWorks.
Now Johnny is selling some of those images from his “Black and White FILM From the Road” collection as framed, mounted/matted limited prints.

That’s all the insider stuff I can throw this week. Kevin Alsop called this morning. For the Big Bear haters, Kevin is leaving the country. I believe flying overseas to build one of their new FXR Titaniums on site. We will bring you more about this build next week. “We get calls about FXR parts every day,” Kevin said.
All I can say is: FXRs forever! Have a helluva weekend. Wait, I’m reading a book about the core teachings of Buddhism. Here’s an interesting excerpt: When learning from others, we should examine everything under the lens of our own introspection. In a famous Chan story, a student once asked Chan Master Zhaozhou (778-897) how to learn the Dharma so he could attain the Way. Master Zhaozhou stood up and said, “I am going to go take a piss now. Ah! Even trivial matters such as taking a piss need to be done by oneself.”
There you have it!
Ride Forever,
