BMW R18 Roctane 2024: Touring with hot-rod styling

By General Posts

with inputs from www.bmwmotorcycles.com

Appearance: Bagger.
Comfort: touring motorcycle.
Personality: custom factory hot rod.

It is driven by the powerful big boxer engine. Ride it and every country road turns into Route 66. Its style is black and matte – that’s what joy can look like. At least for those who bring #SoulFuel to life. Bagger outline, dragster seat and mini ape-hanger demonstrate that this is not an ordinary bike.

Want even more rock ‘n’ roll? The bike is ready for customizing. All you need to do is own it!

Character: independent
This extroverted bike does not conform. It stands out despite its dark colors. Or precisely because of them. The three versions emphasize its different facets. You like doing your own thing? Take it to another level with customizing.

More than a bike – your statement
The iconic front with round LED headlight and 21-inch cast aluminum wheel leads the way towards the horizon. You casually grip the mini ape-hanger and rest your feet on the standard footboards, while the dragster seat gives you support on long tours. The elongated bagger outline flows straight to the stylish rear end, featuring hard-shell cases. This bike is an eye-catcher. Unmistakable: the unique boxer sound from the striking, dark chrome rear exhaust.

Your bike, your rules
Lend the R 18 Roctane your unique character. We offer a range of optional accessories, such as the Filler Panels or the Machined series by Roland Sands Design. A single seat is available for solo riders. Take customizing even further. There are no limits to your ideas.

Everything under your control
Numerous assistance systems make sure that you always have your bike under control. These include Automatic Stability Control (ASC), engine drag torque control (MSR) as well as optional Hill Start Control and reverse. Your three riding modes for more control and riding pleasure are Rock, Roll and Rain. And thanks to optimum seating ergonomics and plenty of storage space you won’t have to do without the comfort you are used to on long tours.

Handlebar Recall On Nearly 1,100 Harley-Davidson Nightsters

By General Posts

Faulty welds on these Harley-Davidson motorcycles could cause the bars to break.

by Dustin Wheelen from https://www.rideapart.com

Harley-Davidson Nightster made a triumphant return to the Sportster lineup in 2022. We last saw the blacked-out bobber in 2012 as the Evolution-powered Nightster 1200 (XL1200N). Ten years later, the revived model benefits from the Motor Company’s new 975cc Revolution Max V-twin and an innovative under-the-seat fuel tank. Those technological advancements don’t eliminate all teething problems, unfortunately.

On August 4, 2022, Harley-Davidson received a complaint from a 2022 Nightster (RH975) owner that the left portion of their handlebar broke off while riding. After performing warranty analysis and investigating the matter, the brand potentially received one additional claim related to this issue between August 5, 2022, and September 8, 2022.

Harley then informed the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the Nightster recall on October 6, 2022. According to the documents, a “weld quality issue” with the Nightster’s handlebar (Part No. 55801154) “could lead to separation between the inner and outer sections.” The consequences of such a failure need little explanation, but the recall lists that “a broken handlebar can cause a sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.”

The Milwaukee manufacturer narrowed down the recall scope to Nightsters produced between December 6, 2021 and September 9, 2022—accounting for 1,074 units. However, Nightster models produced after September 9, 2022, don’t apply to this recall, as Harley employed “enhanced manufacturing controls” on those units.

After informing the NHTSA, the firm notified its dealers of the impending recall on October 11, 2022. One week later, on October 18, 2022, the brand sent notification letters to impacted owners. Once eligible customers transport their Nightster to their local dealership, Harley will replace the faulty handlebars free of charge.

While the notification period ends on October 25, 2022, Nightster owners can also contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464 (Recall No. 0179). Owners can also reach the NHTSA Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit the organization’s website for more details.

We’re happy to see the Nightster to usher in a new era for the Sportster line, but we’re happier to see the MoCo addressing mission-critical issues.

Vance & Hines Issues Statement on Federal Trade Commission Action

Vance & Hines Issues Statement on Federal Trade Commission Action Against Harley-Davidson

Background: The Federal Trade Commission announced a complaint on June 23, 2022, against Harley-Davidson, ordering the company to “fix warranties by removing illegal terms and recognizing the right to repair, come clean with customers, and ensure that dealers compete fairly with independent third-parties.”

Link to Federal Trade Commission Press Release: https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2022/06/ftc-takes-action-against-harley-davidson-westinghouse-illegally-restricting-customers-right-repair-0

Statement from Mike Kennedy, President & CEO of Vance & Hines:

“This action taken by the FTC is a huge win for motorcycle riders. While we still need to see how this plays out, we anticipate that riders will have more choices in how they repair and update their motorcycles during the warranty period, which is clearly a big deal for companies in the motorcycle aftermarket, too. I hope that the “it will void your warranty” threat for someone who just wants a better sounding or smoother running Harley is a thing of the past.”

Road Glide Ultra Trimming

Bassani Exhaust, Legends Suspension, and V&H Fuelpak
by Johnny White

My 2016 Road Glide Ultra FLTRU has been a reliable ride that has endured 70,000 miles without any major issues.

One of the first things a guy wants to change is the sound – as a new Harley sounds great until you hear it next to one with a tuned exhaust system.

The change now vs. days of old is it’s no longer change your pipes and re-jet the carb.

Now, with electronic fuel injection, ‘void warranty’ and emission controls, it can seem a bit daunting if you don’t know where to look.

Well, it’s easier today than most realize and it doesn’t require a ton of time, knowledge, or money … well, it does require some money.

BRP Announces a 90-Day Warranty Extension for All Its Powersports Products

By General Posts

from https://www.marketwatch.com

VALCOURT, Quebec, Apr 29, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) — BRP Inc. (TSX:DOO; NASDAQ:DOOO) has decided to make the current period a little more bearable by announcing a 90-day extension to all of its manufacturer limited warranty, expiring between March 15 and June 30, 2020, across all its powersports product lines (Ski-Doo, Lynx, Sea-Doo and Can-Am).

This initiative is an indication of BRP’s commitment to deliver an exceptional customer experience, even during these challenging times, and is part of the recent “Together, We Ride” project which is a reminder that tough times require new responses. Since some BRP dealers have temporarily closed or are partially open, we wanted to ensure that our customers can fully benefit from their warranty.

“In the current context, people already have a lot of other things on their mind. We didn’t want their warranties running out to be one of them, especially with reduced service department capacity. We wanted to make sure we make things as easy as we can by being the first OEM in North America to offer a 90-day warranty extension on all our powersports products,” said Delton Bohlman, Vice-President, Global Customer Services Parts & Accessories at BRP. “Together, We Ride is not just a catchphrase for us: we are all in this together and we need to do our part to help each other get through it.”

Customers who qualify do not need to take any action to be included in the warranty extension program, they will be automatically prolonged.

The 90-day extension applies to all limited warranties and B.E.S.T. extended service coverage which are set to expire between March 15 and June 30, 2020.

GNX 4.5” Slip-on for HD Touring models

By General Posts

NEW –  GNX 4.5” Slip-on for HD Touring models

The M8 engine is a powerhouse, but a low idle combined with a plugged up exhaust conspire to mute the true sounds of freedom this machine was designed to roar. Not to worry, the folks over at S&S have created the GNX slip-ons with one thing in mind and that’s belting out the flag waving, eagle flying song of the American v-twin. Combining a 4.5” shell with a tuned baffle and race inspired tip, the GNX lets the sound and power flow out of the M8. Wait, you only want one eagle and a few flags? Not a problem, they include a removable dB reducer that lets you tune the sound to suit your version of the American dream. Made (and chromed) in America, the warranty friendly GNX is also available in their new Guardian Black finish and relieved for shocks up to 13.5”.

All this freedom and they still managed to come in at $474.95 per pair in black and $589.95 in gleaming chrome.

Check out the GNX Slip on on their site or hit up your local dealer for more info. https://www.sscycle.com/letfreedomfly

Golan Petcocks are very easy to maintain

By General Posts

Check out how easy it is to replace the O-rings in our Click-Slick fuel petcocks.

Lifetime Warranty

Our fuel valves have a lifetime warranty. Unlike other valves on the market, we do not sell a “rebuild kit”, all you need to maintain this valve for life is to replace a couple of O-rings, which we provide free of charge, to anywhere in the United States. If you can’t wait, they can be picked up at any hardware store. One 3/8″ O-ring and one 5/8″ O-ring is all you need.

The video above shows just how easy it to replace the O-rings and keep your machine on the road.

Adjustable Reserve

This petcock can be altered to adjust the amount of reserve gas available by shortening or removing (twist off) the reserve pickup tube for racing or shallow tanks (see pic).

Watch a video of how to replace the O-rings in our Click-Slick fuel petcocks!

Here’s a great investment story

By General Posts

This 2004 Bourget Low Blow Chopper with only 6,027 miles has been detailed and put through NH state inspection. It runs, rides, and hauls ass. Powered by a 113 cubic inch v-twin engine with a 6-speed transmission, the Low Blow produces 103 hp and 115 foot-pounds of torque. It has a seat height of 21″ and a dry weight of 550 lbs. It has been upgraded with a Primo open primary, an aftermarket exhaust, and a JIMS 6-speed transmission, and comes equipped with an S&S Super G carburetor and a 200mm rear wheel. This vehicle does not pass NH state inspection due to front brakes that are contaminated with fluid, an exhaust that is above NH decibel limits, and an excess of rake in the front end.

We encourage you to see and hear this bike in person. Nobody here is on commission and we are happy to take as much time with you as you need. We do not charge any dealer fees either! If you cannot see it in person, we will be happy to do a live inspection via Skype or Facetime. Please call 603-410-4120 for more info.

At National Powersports, we buy a lot of bikes! While many are fully serviced and sold with a warranty, some will not go through the process due to a variety of reasons, including special purchases, overstock of the same model, high mileage, running or cosmetic condition, or a simple lack of shop availability. We sell these vehicles “as-is” from our Outlet location in Merrimack, NH, as well as in our Pembroke, NH location. We call them Opportunity Vehicles, as they are sold at a substantial discount.

If you are not comfortable buying a vehicle as-is, we have hundreds of bikes in stock at our Pembroke location that are fully serviced and come with a warranty. Click HERE to view our Premium Inventory.

S&S Slip Ons for M8 HD(R) Softail(R) Models NOW 50 STATE LEGAL!

By General Posts

Same great product, now with CARB certification. Version for most new Softail models (Grand National is my favorite and they sound killer). ~ DZ

NEW –  S&S Grand National and Slash Cut Slip Ons for M8 HD® Softail® Models

S&S Cycle has been on the gas for six decades, with the last handful of years heavily focused on high performance exhaust systems. Their popular Grand National muffler line recently grew to include the latest generation of HD® Softail® models and they are now adding a lower dollar slash cut version as well. Why is an S&S slip on better? We asked the same question and they showed us their elaborate array of dynos, data acquisition tools and emissions lab. Add to that they are now CARB certified and warranty friendly. We like that almost as much as we do the legitimate v-twin exhaust note and healthy bump in Hp and torque (91Hp and 113lb/ft!). Available in show chrome or ceramic coated black for 2018-19 HD® Street Bob®, Low Rider®, Softail Slim®, Deluxe, Breakout®, Fat Boy® and Heritage® Classic. For more info, check out https://www.sscycle.com/grand-national-and-slash-cut-slipons-m8-softail/
