It then circles back to the topic a few days later, releasing properly-sized photo galleries of the two-wheelers. The same happened with the new interpretation of the Panigale V4, shown in the last week of November in just ten or so photographs. This week though, a more comprehensive set of images were released, showing the “most significant evolutionary step” for the breed born back in 2018. The new Panigale V4 is the latest new model to be announced by the Italians in their end-of-the-year push, but by far it will probably not be the most spectacular. That’s because even if some aspects of the ride have improved significantly, not much has changed in the powertrain department. Still holding in its frame the 1,103 cm Desmosedici Stradale engine, the Panigale is now just a pinch more powerful, with the horsepower rating of the unit going up by a measly 1.5, to a total of 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm. To be fair, the total is quite a lot, given how there are countless cars out there that don’t even come close to that. What’s more, one can squeeze an extra 12.5 hp when using the Akrapovic titanium exhaust system devised specifically for this machine. But, as said, the main changes are not in the engine department. It’s no wonder since, after all, the name is a bit of an icon in the segment and the bike showcased some of the sexiest, most elegant sportbike designs in recent history, culminating with the V4. With such a presence in the lineup, it’s easy to forget that on the fully-faired front, Ducati also offers the SuperSport 950. However, with a starting price of $13,095 (for 2020), the SuperSport is an affordable and accessible entry point into the Italian sports segment. For 2021, the bike received a few key upgrades including new techs and a fresh new face inspired by the Pani. On November 18, 2020, Ducati hosted its third World Première episode. The announcement included the introduction of the new Panigale V4 SP, the TK-01RR electric bicycle, and, of course, the updated SuperSport. Ducati refreshed the model’s design and injected it with a bit of Panigale DNA to streamline the family’s look. The front optical adopts a similar shape as the one introduced on the V4, complete with the signature LED strip, while the fairing now features a gill-like design on the sides. Under the surface, the entry-level sportbike carries over vastly unchanged. The 937cc Testastretta twin, shared with the Hypermotard and Multistrada 950, gets its Euro 5-compliant upgrade, but power figures remain the same at 110 horsepower and 69 lb-ft of torque. The engine continues to act as a stressed member inside the tubular steel chassis that’s mounted to a pair of 17-inch y-spoke light-alloy wheels with Marzocchi suspension hardware. Ducati sells over 53,000 bikes in 2019

Ducati Motor Holding has announced that in 2019, the brand sold 53,186 motorcycles. Recoding a margin growth of 0.3% when assessing against 53,004 units sold in 2018. For the fifth consecutive year, Ducati has sold more than 50,000 units within a calendar year. Globally, the 500cc above segment for motorcycles has seen a growth of 1.4%. However, while sales volume saw marginal growth, Ducati’s revenue saw further positive growth. The company’s turnover at the end of 2019 stood at €716 million (~Rs 57.7 billion) with an operating profit of € 52 million which is higher than € 49 million it secured in 2018. Ducati says that it recorded a turnover per bike figure which with about € 13,500 / motorcycle shows the highest value in the history of the company. The Italian superbike manufacturer claims that the Panigale superbike and the Multistrada adventure tourer motorcycles were instrumental in helping Ducati achieve these numbers. The Panigale has been the best selling super sports bike in the world for the second consecutive year and currently holds a massive market share of 25%. The Multistrada 950S and the 1260 Enduro being added to the range, the ADV family saw its best sales performance till date since it was first introduced back in 2003.
