Pre-Owned Harley-Davidsons Get New Home on Company’s Website

Now, in a bid to make things easier, Harley-Davidson itself may end up complicating things some more with the launch of its own dedicated marketplace. Called H-D1, the virtual showroom will host both certified pre-owned (Harley got into this game this April) and other used bikes wearing the Milwaukee company’s logos. The company promises “the most comprehensive opportunity to search, experience, sell and purchase pre-owned Harley-Davidson motorcycles across North America. “ The service will first be available to buyers and sellers in the United States and will include the “entire selection of pre-owned Harley-Davidson motorcycles from our participating dealer network, that will be available for our customers to browse and customize online.” As announced back in April, to be eligible for the certified pre-owned motorcycle program a bike has to be no more than five model years old, read less than 25,000 miles (40,200 km) on the odometer, and come with no aftermarket modifications to the engine, transmission, chassis, or electrical system. All bikes sold through this program are subjected to a “110-point quality-assurance inspection,” and recalls or a blocked VIN status verification. When sold, bikes will go with a one-year warranty (with a $50 deductible charge per claim) for the engine and transmission, and a free one-year membership in the Harley Owners Group (HOG). BMW Motorrad to reveal a New “Pioneering Electric Vehicle” Next Week

Sure, countless motorcycle startups popped up over the years, each trying to break the mold, but each has so far failed. The first in the large group of established bike makers to go down the electrification path is Harley-Davidson. The Americans have the LiveWire on sale for some time now, but they also seem to struggle to make it stick. But maybe over in Europe, things will be a bit different. There, BMW’s Motorrad has been more or less secretly working for some time on an electric motorcycle that, at least on paper, should forever change the segment. Back in 2019, an amazing contraption called Vision DC Roadster was shown. In the place one would usually find a boxer engine, that thing packed a vertically mounted battery, complete with cooling ribs and integrated ventilators. Under the battery, shaped like a cylinder, resided the motor meant to spin the wheels. Now, the Vision DC was just a concept, but a bit later that same year, something else came into the spotlight. It was called E-Power Roadster, a Frankenstein machine that took the front end of an S1000R and tied it to the rear of an R1200RS. A lot of time has passed since, and it seems there is still no reveal in sight for electric motorcycles branded by BMW. But there are other things, possibly even as exciting, coming our way from Munich in lesser segments, namely the “urban single-track mobility“ one. This model is designed by Aldo Drudi (who also designed the Valentino Rossi helmet), in collaboration with motorcycle apparel manufacturer Spidi. The polyester mesh jacket is light, 100 percent ventilated and the width of the waist is adjustable. The protectors on the shoulders and elbows are removable and the most vulnerable areas have double stitching. The jacket is waterproof. The Flow C3 fabric jacket is the next available model, also a fully CE-certified model. It is light, breathable, and has a detachable lining. The jacket is both waterproof and windproof and has a hook on the back that allows it to be combined with any pants with belt loops, thus preventing the jacket from riding up on the back while you are on the bike.
