Vance & Hines Expands New PCX Lineup with Return of the Pro Pipe and Debut of Bagger Race Replica System

Santa Fe Springs CA – Vance & Hines, which earlier this week announced its innovative new PCX (Power Chamber Exhaust) technology, is now adding two new 2-into-1 exhaust systems to their product line. The introduction includes the return of the ultra-popular Pro Pipe 2-into-1 exhaust system and a system inspired by the one used on the company’s King of the Baggers racers, a series that has inspired a new level of custom and performance in Harley-Davidson touring bikes. PCX technology ensures that these Vance & Hines systems meet all EPA emissions criteria.

Pro Pipe is a classic design that has twenty years of evolution and improvement built into its return to market. It has all the ingredients for making power: stepped headers, an oversized collector and long megaphone muffler. The new generation Pro Pipe now features the innovative PCX™ technology, which integrates a chambered high-flow catalyst in the megaphone for a bigger boost in torque and a more robust rumble of a big V-Twin motor. The placement of the catalyst deeper into the muffler moves heat away from the rider and improves rider comfort.

The Pro Pipe system fits Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight Touring (2017-2022) and Softail (2018-2022) models, as well as late model Twin Cam Touring models (2010-2016).

The Vance & Hines Hi-Output RR exhaust system comes directly out of the development work done for the riders in the King of the Baggers class of the MotoAmerica Road Racing Championships. Constructed of high grade, 304 stainless steel, the hand TIG welded headers of the Hi-Output RR step from 1.75″ to 1.875″ to 2.0″ and feed into the same oversized collector used on the race exhaust system. The collector is even rotated to add extra ground clearance to enable steeper lean angles through the turns. Finishing off the system is the Vance & Hines mid-length 4″ Hi-Output megaphone muffler featuring the same laser-cut riveted badge as the race system. The consumer version of the system includes PCX technology using a chambered, high flow catalyst which increases torque, especially at mid-range RPMs.

The Hi-Output RR system fits Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight Touring models (2017-2022). An optional accessory heat shield kit will also be available.

“The Pro Pipe is a rider favorite and we’re so glad to bring it back with PCX technology,” said Vance & Hines President and CEO Mike Kennedy. “With our company’s roots in racing and our excitement about this year’s King of the Baggers program, the race-replica high-output system was a no brainer. I can’t wait to see a bagger ride by with the same pipes that James Rispoli has on his Vance & Hines race bike.”

Both systems are available this week at Vance & Hines’ two locations at the Sturgis Rally. Vance & Hines staff at both Black Hills Harley-Davidson and at J&P Cycles in Sturgis are showing all the company’s top products to attendees at the rally.

RACER TRAVIS WYMAN JOINS HARLEY-DAVIDSON SCREAMIN’ EAGLE FACTORY TEAM FOR KING OF THE BAGGERS SERIES

Brothers Travis and Kyle Wyman to Race Factory Road Glide Special Bikes at Road America

MILWAUKEE (June 10, 2021) – The Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory racing team will field multi-talented racer Travis Wyman as a second entry in its MotoAmerica King of the Baggers road racing series. Travis Wyman will race a factory-prepared Harley-Davidson Road Glide® Special powered by a modified Screamin’ Eagle® Milwaukee-Eight 131 Performance Crate Engine. He joins his brother, Kyle Wyman, on the two-rider team for the King of the Baggers race June 11-13 at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wis.

In addition to its factory team effort, Harley-Davidson is offering a nearly $30,000 cash contingency program for qualified Harley-Davidson® racers competing in the King of the Baggers series.

“We are ready to turn up the heat in MotoAmerica at our home track of Road America by adding Travis to the Screamin’ Eagle factory team,” said Jochen Zeitz, chairman, president, and CEO Harley-Davidson. “The King of the Baggers series is bringing big excitement for fans and we’re pleased to add to the show by expanding our team to two top riders representing Harley-Davidson and Screamin’ Eagle.”

The three-round MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series is for race-prepared, American V-Twin touring motorcycles equipped with a fairing and saddlebags. In the series debut on May 2 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Kyle Wyman placed second on the Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle factory Road Glide Special motorcycle.

Travis Wyman is the owner of Travis Wyman Racing, based in Las Vegas. He is currently also competing in MotoAmerica Stock 1000, Honos Superbike and Superbike Cup. The 29-year-old racer finished the 2020 MotoAmerica season in second place in the Superbike Cup and third in the Stock 1000 championship. Travis Wyman also competed in the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers invitational race last October at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, scoring a fourth-place finish aboard a Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Kyle and Travis Wyman are the sons of Kim Wyman, owner of Harv’s Harley-Davidson in Macedon, N.Y.

Round two of the King of the Baggers series is June 11-13 at Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wis. The series continues July 9-11 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Calif.

Harley-Davidson Milwaukee Eight Gets Bigger and Meaner with New 131 S&S Kit

Do you know that saying “there’s no replacement for displacement?” It applies to all types of internal combustion engines, fitted on both cars or motorcycles, and has been the driving force behind many stunning machines over the years.

In the motorcycle world, Harley’s Milwaukee Eight engine is one of the most famous powerplants. Part of the big twin family that has been around for eight decades, it was introduced in 2016 with a total of eight valves – four for each cylinder – hence the name.

Generally, these engines come in three displacement options, namely 107, 114, and 117 ci. There’s an even bigger variant on the market, the Screamin’ Eagle Milwaukee Eight 131, “the biggest, most powerful street-compliant engine Harley-Davidson has ever created,” but this one is offered as a crate solution.

Those looking to get more cubic inches and more power have several solutions at their disposal. The latest comes from S&S and is designed for Milwaukee Eights fitted on bikes from 2017 to the present day.

Comprising upgrades like a new-design forged piston and 4.25-inch cylinders, the kit can take engines all the way to 131 ci (2.1 liters), but only when paired with the company’s stroker crank – we’re told the upgrade works with stock crankcases as well. According to S&S, the stock engine height remains after the kit is fitted, and so do the original serial numbers.

There are three variants of the kit available, namely Wrinkle Black with highlighted fins, Wrinkle Black with non-highlighted fins, and Black Granite with highlighted fins.

Regardless of the version, the price is $1,299.95, but that increases to $1,529.95 when opting for the stroker crank as well. Still, that should be peanuts given what the hardware offers, according to S&S product manager Grant Hilligass.

“We build our big bore kits and cranks to much tighter tolerances and with higher quality materials than the factory parts,” he states.

Designed for the traditional touring customer, the Electra Glide Standard is for the rider seeking to disconnect from all the noise of the day-to-day through riding. No screens, simply a motorcycle that provides and heightens the experience of the journey. This fundamental experience is a key element in the design and engineering of the Electra Glide Standard.

The Electra Glide Standard features essential Harley-Davidson styling elements such as the iconic batwing fairing, chrome trim, standard saddle bags, and cast aluminum wheels. Chrome accents are added in high-impact design areas and complemented by polished rocker, cam and derby covers and select blacked out components – a blend of traditional elements and modern trends.

“To express the stripped-back essence of the Electra Glide Standard we focused on finishes that were simple, timeless, and fundamental to the Harley-Davidson’s touring line. Chrome was added to key components and complimented by polished and blacked out parts, said Harley-Davidson’s Vice President of Styling & Design Brad Richards. “The rocker, cam, and derby covers are finished with chrome to emphasize the V-Twin shape of the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. In addition, they add a dose of nostalgia that draws a through-line all the way back to the first Electra Glide.”

To provide a raw touring motorcycle experience without riding compromises, the Electra Glide Standard features all the latest ride and handling technology of Harley-Davidson’s Touring line such as standard electronic cruise control, hand-adjustable emulsion-technology rear shock absorbers, 49mm front forks with Showa dual bending valve suspension, and Brembo brakes with optional Reflex Linked and ABS features.
