Revving up for a Good Cause: 2023 Flying Piston Benefit Charity Breakfast and Auction

by Prince Jeffrey Najar

Each year, I produce the Daytona edition of the Flying Piston Benefit Builder Breakfast and online silent auction with industry maven, Marilyn Stemp.

This year it was a tale of 2 rides, the cold one and the hot one. The cold ride is where all the trouble happened and, well, I’m still thawing out.

In Search of the Sturgis Sticky Bun

BUN PATROL by Prince Najar

Fuel for this summer ?

This is the 8th year of the Flying Piston’s Builders Breakfast hosted by the Buffalo Chip and presented by Russ Brown. As co-producer this is also the 8th time I’ve been voted down on serving waffles. I ask you, who doesn’t love waffles in the morning?

So I’m working on a replacement to the breakfast treat. What we came up with is homemade gooey cinnamon buns.

The Answer to this Search is Closer than you Think.

A Cool Custom Strider Bike by Edge

By General Posts

Greg “Edge” Scheuer delivers for world-famous Flying Piston Builder’s Breakfast

“The entire take on my build was to recreate the famous picture of Marlin Brando from the 1953 film, “The Wild One.” Using one of my grandchildren as a stand in for Brando. I have two grandkids that are both about three so the timing was good.

Luckily, I had a build team which is the only reason the bike is finished.

The photo shoot with my two grandsons’, Wilder and Finn, was a hoot but eventually we got there. Special thanks to Prince Jeff Najar for the opportunity to work with the Flying Piston Benefit.

See you in Sturgis!”

Kirk Taylor’s L’il Cha Cha was among the very first class of Tiny Strider Customs, a program of the Flying Piston Benefit that supports All Kids Bike – an organization that’s on a mission to teach every kid how to ride a bike as part of kindergarten PE class.

Custom creations are unveiled at the Flying Piston breakfast in August at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip then auctioned at the Mecum motorcycle event in Las Vegas the following January. Proceeds fund bike-riding programs for elementary schools.

The Master Leather Worker Supports KidsRide

by Bandit with photos by Howard Knight

The 6th annual Flying Piston Benefit Breakfast, is set to kick off the 80th Anniversary Sturgis Rally. This celebrity-strewn Meet & Greet held Sunday, August 9, brings together custom builders and industry influencers to support veterans and new rider initiatives through Motorcycle Missions and AllKidsBike. It also features the unveiling of the 2020 Tiny Strider Customs.

I was in the process of moving to Deadwood and didn’t have time for a major metal sculpture, but I was inspired by my Howard Knight handmade belt with its intricate leather details. I could make a belt buckle and perhaps he could make a leather engraved belt to match. I could hope. I reached out to Howard and he agreed.
