This is not good news and as supporters of American motorcycle manufacturers, we can’t help but see that the writing is on the wall. This looks like the end for the legendary rogue manufacturer that brought so much to our industry. In a press communication released today, EBR Motorcycles announced it will begin a wind down of production operations commencing next week. EBR will continue to honor warranties and provide technical and parts support to current dealers and riders who bought motorcycles manufactured by EBR. The release also states that EBR will continue to review strategic alternatives with interested investors regarding production operations. The decision was a tough one for EBR as it has been solely focused on the growth and building EBR for success. The team at EBR has worked tirelessly making every effort to build the company. There is no fault on any of the team at EBR for this decision. They and their families have our deepest gratitude for their efforts and dedication to EBR. This difficult decision was based primarily on EBR facing significant headwinds with signing new dealers, which is key to sales and growth for a new company. In addition, EBR has had limited production in 2016 and 2017 that was under goal. The combination of slow sales and industry announcements of other major OEM brands closing or cutting production only magnified the challenges faced by EBR. The limited production of remaining 2017 and 2016 EBR motorcycles are currently available from EBR’s top dealers. For a list of top dealers, please go to www.EBR.com. A sale of production equipment and excess parts will start in March.
ThunderRoad Financial, LLC will offer retail financing to Participating EBR Motorcycle Dealers beginning November 16th. This partnership will provide the EBR Dealers with one of the most competitive financing programs available today. “ThunderRoad Financial has in the last three years developed a great reputation for providing competitive and flexible financing programs to motorcycle dealers and their enthusiasts. With a team that consists of some of the most experienced and passionate motorcycle underwriters in the industry, they truly understand how to put a deal together and get the rider rolling down the road,” Said Erik Buell of EBR Motorcycles. “With over 400 dealers and growing by the day, they are certainly doing something right.” “For years Erik Buell has been synonymous with superb design, forward thinking and insightful engineering. The new EBR Motorcycles are a testament to that. Being partnered with EBR Motorcycles and their dealers is going to give us a great opportunity to provide the same cutting edge financing to their customers,” said Donal Hummer Jr, President and CEO of ThunderRoad Financial. “The type of customer that pays attention to the details and appreciates excellence in form and function, who wants to own and ride an EBR motorcycle, is just the customer we are looking for. Whether the EBR riders are going down the highway or carving up the canyons, they will definitely be taking the road by storm.” “It is going to be an exciting 2017 as we watch EBR Motorcycles expand their products and dealer base and we are proud to be associated with them,” said Donal Hummer.
