It’s a factory, non-stree-legal, purpose-built drag racing motorcycle capable of doing a quarter mile in under ten seconds as if it’s nothing. And it’s incredibly rare. The motorcycle you see in the gallery above is the drag race-bred VRXSE Screaming Eagle Destroyer put together by Harley’s Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) back in 2006. One that, unlike most others of its kind, has been kept locked up and never used on the strip. In all its history, there were just a little over 600 units of the Destroyer ever built, and even that was a stretch given the fact Harley initially planned for a production run that was about half that size. So, yes, they are rare, and ones that have been kept as museum pieces can be considered non-existent. But thing is there is at least one such motorcycle in perfect condition, and it’s for sale, on the luxury-oriented DuPont Registry website. Just like all others of its kind, this dragster motorcycle is powered by the same 79ci (1,300 cc) 165 hp V-twin engine, only it features a wide range of race equipment, including a long stroke flywheel, high compression forged pistons, a pneumatic shifter, and larger throttle bodies, among others. The bike also comes with other extra features envisioned by CVO, including a stroker crankshaft, a racing transmission with a multi-stage lock up clutch, programmable shift light, and two-stage launch control. IndianxWorkhorse Appaloosa Studded Motorcycle Revealed at Baikal Mile

by Eduard Pana from https://www.autoevolution.com Earlier this week, Indian announced that it will participate at Baikal Mile Ice Speed Festival with the Appaloosa v2.0. The motorcycle maker only provided one photo of the racing machine, but it has now revealed more details about the collaboration and looks of the model. The Baikal Mile Ice Festival is a drag-race focused event, in order to see which manufacturer can produce the fastest motorcycle that can run in harsh winter conditions with low temperatures and dodgy terrain. This idea emerged from some Russians that thought if their country is not suited for tarmac racing, they managed to make a replacement of the salt lake (ahem, Bonneville Slat Flats) with an ice lake. This event had such a great success in 2019, so they decided to make an even better 2nd event with more racing and side action, like ice-drifting, motocross stunts, and many extra shows. The IndianxWorkhorse racing team traveled a long way to reach the Baikal Lake in Russia to race at the 2nd edition of the Baikal Mile. Even Brice Hennebert, the Appaloosa creator said that “I can’t believe we are actually here. What an amazing place. I am so pleased to finally reveal the new Appaloosa after weeks of hard work to get here. I can’t wait to see Sebastien blast down the 1-mile strip.”  The qualifying runs were done on 27 February. Although problems appeared with the quick-shifter due to vibrations, they canceled the system in order to race. Also, winter studs were lost during the runs from the back wheel and destroyed the blades behind the wheel. 5.50! Larry “Spiderman” McBride Smashes Motorcycle Record

Larry “The Spiderman“ McBride is the most decorated Top Fuel Motorcycle racer ever with 19 championships to his credit and multiple records as well. This type of legacy is built on big moments and McBride just added another to his resume by breaking his own world record with a legendary pass in the 5.50s during the Man Cup Finals at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Recently at the Manufacturers Cup MTC Engineering Nationals at Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina McBride laid down a pavement-shredding 5.607 at 263.10 MPH to win the event. During that race, McBride reset the record multiple times before lighting the boards with the 5.607 lick. This level of performance was totally unheard of in the Top Fuel Motorcycle ranks and it made the numerous record-setting passes at one event even more impressive. After the Rockingham event, people began to wonder if McBride could push his nitro-fed machine into the 5.50s at the Man Cup Finals. McBride wasted no time answering that question taking advantage of the near-perfect conditions to run a 5.507 at 264.96 MPH. This resets his own record by a tenth and tacked on some MPH for good measure. (July 22, 2019) – An all-new motorcycle body added momentum to the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines drag racing team as riders Andrew Hines and Ed Krawiec stormed through the Pro Stock Motorcycle field at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Presented By Pennzoil at Bandimere Speedway aboard a pair of brand-new Harley-Davidson FXDR™ drag bikes. In the competition debut for the Harley FXDR bikes, Hines defeated Krawiec in an all-Harley final to take his sixth win of the season and extend his points lead in the class. “Changing the bike mid-season can be a gamble because it can really affect the aerodynamics, handling and the rider’s view down the track,” said Hines. “Plus, we’ve been winning a lot with the Street Rod bikes.
