WORLD’S FASTEST BAGGER– Mitchell, SD- The Klock Werks crew kicked this year off with a bang. First they were invited to participate in a Discovery Channel Biker Build Off, next taking the Build Off winning Bagger, and yes we said Bagger to the Bonneville Salt Flats leaving with an AMA national record for the fastest bagger. For most shops that would be enough, not for Klock Werks in Mitchell, SD.
Brian Klock, owner of Klock Werks has been the “bagger guy” since he opened his shop back in 1997. While everyone else was building choppers and bobbers, Brian stuck to his guns and kept his primary focus on baggers. Sure he built other bikes, bikes that won awards and earned magazine covers, but he has always been driven to create custom baggers and related parts. Klock’s broad parts line is distributed by Drag Specialties.
Discovery Channel picked up on Brian too, inviting him to participate in his first Biker Build off this past summer. Brian went up against Jason Hart with the final voting taking place at the world famous Broken Spoke Saloon in Sturgis this past August. “I took a leap and built a bagger. No one had ever done it before, so I figured why not? It’s what I do” said Klock. Brian’s bagger won the Build Off and can proudly claim the title of the first bagger ever on BBO. After winning the BBO, the winning bike was loaded up for Bonneville. “I wanted to show people that baggers can be everything choppers and bobbers are plus be cool to look at, but most importantly fast” said Klock.
Once at Bonneville, Brian’s fianc?, Laura Ellifson piloted the bagger on the flats and rode the bagger to an AMA record. Not only was Klock Werks one of the first to take a bike of this kind to the flats, they were only one of four groups to run with a woman. “During the first pass it was just dead silent, I could hear Laura running the gears and was just hoping she would make a safe first pass. Then the flag man called a speed, her first pass came back at 137.575. I was jumping up and down like a mad man” shared Klock. On their rookie attempt Klock Werks made six passes total resulting in a #1 national record reaching a top speed of 147.359 mph and yes we said they did it on a bagger!

BIKERNET NOISE STUDY RESPONSE– I just wanted to let you now that I liked your response to Albert Singer re: loud pipes. It was accurate and to the point with out being demeaning, and at the low road level that the original response was at. Good job, and I agree with you 100% on that one… I’m having a lot of trouble lately with elderly drivers that shouldn’t be driving… Two close calls recently……
I think some of them are as impaired as drunk drivers…. it seems to be a very tough issue politically, where I haven’t seen or heard about any creative ways to remedy the situation. Obviously road testing should be enforced to be performed annually for those over a certain age, with minimal cost. I mean how many times have you heard of an elderly driver going the wrong way on the highway, or mistaking the gas pedal for the brake pedal. I had two different seniors not see me at all, at two different intersections. They couldn’t even hear my V&H pipes which are still baffled but loud enough to be heard through a car’s glass window.
Anyway, good response.
–DjM
Thanks, And I agree with you about elderly folks. My mom is 83 and still driving. She’s taking a seniors driving course right now. I doubt if she’ll pass. But you’re right. She needs to be tested annually.
She’s had five accidents in the last two years and totaled two cars. She’s wanted in three California counties.

MAN THREATENS BIKERS, GETS HIT BY CAR– PITTSBURG, Calif. (AP) — An alleged drunken motorist who brandished a pool cue while driving at a group of motorcyclists was hit by his own car after he attempted to approach the bikers on foot, authorities said.
Richard Brooks, 50, of Concord, was pulled to safety by the motorcyclists after his car – which he left in reverse – knocked him into the highway on Thursday, said Officer Scott Yox of the California Highway Patrol.
Brooks, who was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence, told authorities he was offended by skeletons some of the riders wore on their leather Harley-Davidson jackets and what he perceived as their attempts to appear tough.
“It was his impression that they thought they were better than him,” Yox said. “They were irritating to him and he felt he needed to do something about it.”
Yox said authorities had no evidence the riders instigated the incident. “Instead of mocking him for going after them, they perhaps set their own safety aside to reach over and rescue him from a position of danger,” he said. Brooks, who was treated at a hospital for cuts and scrapes, remained jailed Friday in lieu of $30,000 bail

SAND SNORTIN’ DESERT BASTARTS INFILTRAING KENTUCKY– There have been rumors of Sand Snortin’ Desert Bastards being seen in Kentucky. They are reported to be seeking ancient moonshiner’s speed secrets for a return round with 5- Ball Racing in Utah next year. This looks like the work of the notorious Bob T. but no solid evidence of his involvement as yet been confirmed. Traps have been set, baited with refried beans and guacamole, in hopes of apprehending them before any mayhem ensues.

ROLLIN’ SIXES CHOPPERS BASIC INFO– Rollin? Sixes Choppers was formed by and is run by family and friends. We are third generation bikers who know our way around the shop. We are real bikers who build real bikes for bikers who love to ride. We specialize in custom builds that people can truly afford and also in high end custom rides. We pride ourselves on building affordable, custom, top-notch motorcycles. The response from our customers is overwhelming. They can?t believe the asking price of our bikes. Our best compliment yet is that our existing customers tell potential buyers that we treat all customers like they are part of the family. Motorcycling used to be a working man?s release. We?re proud to be part of the culture that has grown from it. We strive to build motorcycles the average man can still afford and be proud of. There?s a difference between someone who builds from the heart and someone who does not.
To bring even more fun back into your life Rollin Sixes Choppers and Rods has expanded to include Chris? Hot Rod Shop to bring you “one off” really cool custom rat rods that the citizens will even envy. Once again we will prove to be cool it?s not about how much money you spend, it?s how you spell it.
We also have our own line of parts that include grips, foot pegs, solo seats, handle bars and working on more to come. We also have our apparel for those that love to support our shop and we appreciate all our loyal friends and family.
We get asked a lot by what we mean when we say “no apologies” on our logo and t-shirts. Every time we pick up a newspaper that has an article about Bikers they always stress how they?re doctors, lawyers, etc?but not like the Bikers of old. We have no grudges against any Bikers because real Bikers don?t judge. We?re not ashamed of who we are or where we come from. No Apologies.
