Hey,
It’s Sunday and we’re still sorting through a passel of e-mail, cleaning the shop and doing our laundry. By the middle of next week we should be back to Bikernet normal. There’s nothing normal about Bikernet normal. It is what it is.
We need to hit the Sunday Post News right up front. Maybe I’ll discuss projects at the end. Let’s hit it:

RICK FAIRLESS HITS THE AIRWAYS WITH NEW TALK RADIO SHOW– Dallas, TX (September 14, 2007)- First he conquered television, then there was print, and now Rick Fairless, owner Rick Fairless’ Strokers Dallas, has embarked on yet another media venture by taking over Sunday morning radio. As the host of a new show called “The Texas Hardtails Scooter Show with Rick Fairless” on Dallas’ Live 105.3 FM, Fairless is taking over the airwaves every Sunday morning from 8:00-9:00 AM CST.
The show is talk format, featuring host Rick Fairless, his long-time buddy Joe T. Moore, assistant Meghan DeFreeuw, and radio show producer Lee Harris. Together the group discusses the motorcycle industry, current events, sports, and whatever else comes to mind. Each week the group also interviews industry big shots, such as Dave Perewitz, Kim Suter, Nick Messer, and Donnie Smith. With regular features, such as the Top Ten List, the weekly Pamela Anderson update appropriately dubbed “Pam Watch,” and call-ins from Rick’s wife, mom, and buddies, the show is comedic and rarely ever politically correct.
“We’re trying to do something different here. I wanted this radio show to be similar to my TV show where people can get an idea of who I am and what I do but also be entertained at the same time,” said Fairless. “We’re not trying to pack the hour full of technical information or news. We’re trying to add some fun to our industry by discussing interesting topics and people.”
For listeners outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the show can be accessed online at

THE STURGIS MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM & HALL OF FAME’S THE GLASS RIDE EXHIBIT EXTENDED THROUGH OCTOBER 19TH– September 13, 2007 – – Artist Joe Stanaway’s The Glass Ride, a full scale glass sculptor replica of a “chopper” motorcycle with kiln cast and blown glass components, was received popular support during and after the 67th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Classic. The exhibit has been extended through October 19th to allow more visitors to view this one-of-a kind piece in its American debut.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame is located at 999 Main Street in Sturgis, South Dakota. It is open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors 65+ and free for children 12 and under.

Artist Joe Stanaway, a Helena, Montana native, completed his Masters in glass and architecture glass design from the Edinburgh College of Art, where he unveiled The Glass Ride in December, 2006. Joe says of his work and himself “I find it easy to be drawn into the look of custom motorcycles. They are very much like glass; the extraordinary use of sculpted chrome polished to a mirror finish, the heavy clear coating over a beautiful buffed petrol tank giving it a transparent glass -like quality. In life we have a tendency to feel better in groups. The group I ran with chose to express themselves on iron horses; I was the black sheep that chose the road of hot glass.” Joe will follow that road of hot glass to Dillon, Montana where he has accepted a professorship in the Glass Department at the University of Montana Western
Further information about the artist is available at www.joestanaway.com, about the museum at www.sturgismotorcyclemuseum.com, or by contacting:

BIKERNET STAFF REHIRED– Bandit, where do i start.lets see well call me a asshole fuckhead whatever i deserve it. that day i wrote this email well it was bad man. lost my friggin job again fucking pink slips layoffs bullshit. its always the wrong time for me. plus the company always says your a great worker but we have to do cut backs. I have a family with a mortgage to pay. I cannot seem to get a decent job these days. I have done it all lately. printing was my trade for 12yrs. then 5 or 6 in plumbing and recently building maintenance mostly plumbing air lines and fixing toilets for a big airplane parts company. I have overcome quite a bit in my life, bad bad drug habit I over came 8 years ago. A few years in prison mostly due to drugs.
That day I came home with yet another pink slip I was in a bad state of mind. Thought this might be the one thing i couldn’t overcome. So later that night I went on to Bikernet after emptying a bottle of Jack, well you know what happened, the news was old, and I just lost it. Felt like the devil was there pulling his strings again. I just wanted to say I am sorry for the dumbshit I wrote. You were not the person I should of vented on. I am still battling my demons everyday. My wife and 15yr-old daughter keep me in check most of the time. Again, I apologize for being an ass and talking stupid shit. Still jobless, bike is broke down, no money. At least my Bikernet is back!!
Peace out Bandit, keep on rocking bikernet for us.

OLIVER FROM CALIFORNIA BIKE WEEK CHECKS IN– It was nice seeing you at Bonneville. How did Valerie Thompson do on the salt? I know she is hot on the drag strip.
My friend Fritz Klinger, better known as California Fritz, whom I sponsor ran his streamliner at 229 mph and then ended up crashing as the track was real groovy and he got into a wobble. He still holds the record in his class at 215. He may be going out in October.
He is in the single engine 2,000cc naturally aspirated push rod motorcycle class.
Our Ugly race team did not do as well at the Southern California Timing Association event after Sturgis. His top speed ended up being 145 MPH with a top speed of 156 MPH. We figured out what the problem was, but was unable to remedy it at the Salts. I am attaching a picture of these bikes as an attachment.
We also talked about the upcoming California Bike Week. I am attaching a press release that will tell you the story better than I can.

Five pages of industry news, Assault Weapon updates, NTSB updates, product news…and one complaint…no one ever said being an editor was easy…and those of us who know a little history of you and the BikerNet crew can forgive ya for being late during the crunch time of Bonneville.
Congratulations to Bandit, Nyla, Jeremiah, Val, Barry…and all the people who sponsored your efforts this year! I don’t know where ’08 will have me during the land speed trials next year…but I would bet it will be damn close to your salt pit!
Thanks for the updates, the fucking outrageously good pictures…(still awaiting the rest…) and I also want to make sure everyone there at BikerNet knows how much waiting for this ONE particular writing effort was worth the pain of no new news!

Log on to BIKERNET ALASKAN RUN UPDATE– I live in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Juneau is a little off the track since you can’t drive directly here. You can take a ferry from either Bellingham, Washington, Price Rupert, BC or Haines, Alaska. It is well worth the trip if you are in the neighborhood. The reason I am writing is to offer a pit stop to anyone making a trip to Alaska. I’ve got plenty of tools and a couple of lifts and MC stands if anyone wants to or needs to change oil, tires or anything else. I can also offer simple accommodations. If that is not enough, Juneau is home to the Alaskan Brewing Company. A world class, award winning beer maker. Cheers We appreciate Ira’s connection and will stay in tough as we plan the Bikernet 2008 Alaskan Adventure.
