Hey,
We’re back and even got lost returning the motorhome. There’s never a dull moment, when it comes to Bikernet.com and 5-Ball Racing. We won the best Engineered motorcycle at the Bub’s Motorcycle Speed Trials, but more improvements are scheduled and I spoke to Jim Waggaman this morning about some changes. We need to find a wind tunnel and test it, but I’m taking a month off from the Assalt Weapan.

Does that mean Bikernet action will slow down? Hell no. You’ll find numerous reports on the Bonneville Race Week, how tough the elements were; the rain, the wind, the track obstacles and the torture to squeeze in another pass before the sun went down. You’ll find the final build reports and event coverage. I’ll wrap up the Tim Remus, Wolfgang Publications books and send it to press.

I’ll bug Lee Clemens, of Departure Bike Works. He’s finishing the 1940 45 cubic inch K-model top-end flathead for next year with an S&S 5-speed Sportster Transmission. The Bonne Bell must be ready for the next run to the flats. And Bret Smith made me promise to build a S&S powered bike for the 2008 streets. Hell, maybe I’ll build an S&S flathead for the mudflap girl bike. Let’s hit the news. I gotta lie in the sun and relax.

AMA LEGISLATIVE NEWS– Orinda, California rider and AMA Community Council leader Wayne Phillips has secured designated motorcycle parking in that Northeast Bay Area community’s downtown. Phillips successfully lobbied for the designated spaces to be marked in what were corners and end-caps of already marked parking spaces so that no car spaces were lost.
For anyone who wants to accomplish the same thing in their municipality, Phillips gives some clear-cut advice: “One or two persons just go to the city council meeting and ask to speak, tell them that parking is inadequate and that you know how they can be part of the solution, suggest that they use all the snips and bits of space that are not big enough for an SUV as motorcycle parking, and then offer the use of you and your motorcycle to test out which of these small spaces could effectively be used. Then work with the city crews to mark such spots.”

BIKERNET HISTORICAL REPORT– In a city park stood two beautiful statues, one female and the other male — both nude. These two statues faced each other for many, many years.
Early one morning an angel appeared before the statues and said, “The two of you have been truly exemplary statues and have brought enjoyment to many people that have visited the park over the years. I am hereby authorized by God to give you the greatest wish that can be bestowed upon you. I grant you the gift of life — albeit, as a limited offer. You have thirty minutes to do whatever your hearts desire.”
And with that command, the two statues came to life. They smiled at each other, slowly moved their limbs about in wonderment. They looked all around, at their own bodies and back at each other.
Smiling, they then ran to the nearby woods and dove behind a large bush.
The angel smiled to herself as she listened to the giggling, bushes rustling and twigs snapping. (Angels aren’t naive.)
After fifteen minutes, the two statues emerged from the bushes, looking extremely satisfied and wearing nothing but even bigger smiles than before.
Puzzled, the angel looked at her watch and said to them, “You still have fifteen minutes. Wouldn’t you like to continue?”
The male statue looked at the female and asked, “Do you want to do it again?”
“Oh yes!” the female statue replied. “But this time YOU hold the pigeon down and
I’LL take a dump on its head.”

MC ADVANTAGES SCAVENGES FOR DIRTY OIL– With the release of their 2007 Catalog Supplement, MC Advantages is proud to announce the signing of a deal to become the exclusive distributor for Rogue Choppers’ Scavenger – a total oil change system.

“The Scavenger is the must-have product for any individual or dealership that changes oil,” says MC Advantages General Manager, Kent Reed. “Most dry sump V-Twins leave 24 oz. or even more of dirty oil in the engine after every oil change. This dirty oil then contributes to the accelerated break down of the new oil.
The Scavenger removes this oil in relative ease without having to drill and tap the engine case. It’s inexpensive insurance to make sure high-priced engines are getting maximum lubrication and protection,” he noted.

As a part of the promotional campaign, stocking dealers will be given a kit to display the dirty oil left after a typical oil change. A special dealer kit for less than $300 is available to get dealers off the ground with brochures, a demo DVD and all the supplies to complete their first changes on Evolution?, Twin Cam A, Twin Cam B and Sportster? engines.
Pricing for the Scavenger starts at $59.95 MSRP. Adapter fittings are required for each Twin Cam A and Sportster? models.

BIKERNET WESTERN ARCHIVES– The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert
After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep.
Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, “Kemo Sabe, look towards sky; what you see?”
The Lone Ranger replies, “I see millions of stars.”
“What that tell you?” asked Tonto.
The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute then says, “Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, the Lord is all powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.”
“What’s it tell you, Tonto?”
“You dumber than buffalo shit. Someone stole tent.”

BEST YEAR YET AT THUNDER ROAD, THE CUSTOM CAPITAL OF STURGIS– Sturgis, SD-September 4, 2007 – Thunder Road, the custom capital of Sturgis, lived up to its name for the fifth year in a row. The turnout was incredible and the bike shows had more crazy customs than ever before. Official overall traffic numbers for Sturgis were up this year and vendors at Thunder Road saw an increase in sales.
Thunder Road is the premier space for bike shows in Sturgis because of its location, parking and enormous building, the Thunderdome. Different bike shows at the Thunderdome every day catered to a variety of bikers. They all drew record crowds.
Michael Lichter’s famed motorcycle-themed art exhibit, “One World Choppers” was a huge success as it examined the influence of builders and artists from outside the U.S. on motorcycle style and design through machines, word and art.
The guys from Orange County Choppers, Paul Tuttle Jr. and Sr., unveiled a new line of production motorcycles at the Metzeler Bike Show, to the excitement of the huge crowd.

The Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse tour featured celebrities and their bikes, as well as photography exhibited by Michael Lichter. Many well-known custom builders stopped by throughout the event, keeping the thrills going.
Six days of bike shows and incredible events proves Thunder Road is still the custom capital of Sturgis after five years running, and why it’s famous as the place to go for everything custom in Sturgis.
Located 3 miles east of Sturgis on Highway 34, Thunder Road is hard to miss. With six acres of paved vending space full of high-end, custom, aftermarket vendors and the nearly 40,000 square foot Thunderdome, Thunder Road is the “Custom Capital of Sturgis Bike Week.” During the course of the week, Thunder Road is host to the most custom-bike themed events in Sturgis.

SUNDAY CANTINA QUOTE FOR THE DAY– “Policemen receive bribes; politicians receive campaign contributions. Marijuana is sold by pushers; tobacco is sold by merchants. When the Swiss are for non-intervention in war, they are called ‘neutral’; when Americans are for non-intervention, they are called ‘isolationists’.” ~ Dr. Thomas Szasz (1920- ) Hungarian-American psychiatrist and author, from ‘The Second Sin,’ 1973

GOODBYE EMBATTLED BROWARD COUNTY SHERIFF KEN JENEE– Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne — at one time the county’s most powerful politician — has agreed to resign and plead guilty to federal corruption charges involving tens of thousands of dollars he allegedly received from sheriff’s office contractors and employees, sources said Tuesday.
After months of personal anguish, Jenne decided Monday to cut the plea deal on tax evasion and other charges to limit his prison time because he also was staring at an imminent grand jury indictment on more serious fraud and money-laundering offenses, sources said.
The plea agreement means Jenne, who earned $169,800 a year as sheriff, will surrender to authorities to face tax-evasion related charges as early as Wednesday. He will likely serve some prison time — possibly between one and two years — and have to pay back taxes and fines to the Internal Revenue Service, sources said.
Jenne, a lawyer who spent most of his life in public service, also will likely lose his Florida Bar license and sheriff’s pension. The pension is estimated to be about $125,000 a year. His conviction ends the dynamic career of a Democratic politician who had formidable clout from Fort Lauderdale to Tallahassee.
In the plea, Jenne is expected to admit to abusing the public trust, sources said, a concession that will hurt his post-conviction effort to save his pension.
Indeed, it was Gov. Lawton Chiles who appointed the former state senator as Broward sheriff in 1998, drawing snickers from many who questioned his lack of experience in law enforcement. But Jenne’s ambition bolstered the agency, which nearly doubled in size — to a $696 million budget with 6,300 employees and 14 cities under its control.
Yet as Jenne’s political profile spread across Broward — with three reelection victories as sheriff — his financial ambitions would lead to his eventual downfall. Jenne’s career began to unravel in April 2005. Then-Gov. Jeb Bush ordered the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate the sheriff after The Miami Herald revealed he had concealed the names of businesses that paid him tens of thousands of dollars for his consulting services.
The probe led to a federal grand jury case that uncovered Jenne’s acceptance of more than $100,000 in unreported payments from BSO contractors who do business with his agency as well as from his two secretaries.
Who is next, West Palm Beach Mayor Stacy Ritter? Maybe it will be someone else. Some how I don’t think we’re done with these corruption cases.
