Hey,
It’s an exciting week. My next project bike effort is underway, and the brothers are lining up for the ride to Alaska and the Badlands 2009. I’ve reached out to Wolfgang to see if they want another book documenting the effort.
We’re just about to launch our Bikernet Brouhaha Sturgis adventure story, tomorrow or Saturday. I’m also facing some deadline pressure. I’m determined to publish my first Chance book by the end of the year, so I’m escaping to the mountains to rewrite and edit until it’s my best book effort yet–or die trying. Then I need to find an agent and publisher.
Books haven’t been the best profit center, but I enjoy writing. I could have switched gears and developed a product line, built bikes or started a magazine, but I stuck with my guns. Let’s see if the bastard backfires or not. Let’s hit the news:
OUR NEW VICE PRESIDENT–Exclusive to Bikernet. “Tonight I had the great honor of accepting our Party’s vice-presidential nomination,” said Sarah Paulin. “I am proud to run with John McCain and be a part of his campaign to build a safer, more prosperous future for America.”At a time when our nation is fighting a war to defeat radical Islamic extremism and our economy is at a crossroads, America needs John McCain and Reform Republicans who have the resolve, judgment and experience to lead.”When our Convention comes to a close tomorrow, and John and I lead our Party into the general election campaign, we will have a little less than nine weeks to tell voters about our agenda of reforming government to serve the people, keeping taxes and spending low, increasing energy independence and defending our nation.”We will be relying on RNC Victory 2008 and grassroots Republican activists like you, Bandit, to help spread our message and make clear the stark differences between our agenda and the Obama-Biden Democrats’ left-wing designs for America.”

This press release is in no way an endorsement or approval of Sarah Palin. We ran it only because Bandit liked that she was sitting on a Harely.

NEWS FROM THE WEEK MAGAZINE–Jeff Nichols of San Diego lifted his wife’s wedding gown to retrieve her garter so he could toss it into the crowd, only to find a thigh holster and a loaded revolver.
“Oops, wrong leg,” Nichols said. His bride is a police officer.
IT’S A TERRIBLE PLACE– twisted my arm and made me drink all night and spend all my money. But it was my Birthday after all and who would have thought I would have made it to 47 and still walking upright. The last hour was a bit foggy. But at least they put my Drunk ass In a Taxi and got me home safe.
Good Party spot for Biketoberfest with a few refugee’s from LOLLIPOS. Nice guys that run the place WHO ALL RIDE and might be a good place to put A Chopper Show as an Alternative to the overpriced and over rated places in Daytona

JIMS BIKERNET TOOL OF THE WEEK, 3rd Hand Axle Locker tool– If you have noticed, as you are torquing down the axle nut after you setthe proper belt tension, (Deflection) the welded axle nut will move to thelow side of adjuster cam. This movement will allow the belt to loseadjustment.
Now with the ” JIMS 3rd Hand Axle Tool”, you will not need tofind a helper to hold the nut or yourself having to reach around the tireand hold the nut from moving. Just place this tool over the welded nut onleft side with the neck portion of tool resting over the swing arm. Handscrew the adjusting screw to take up any slack in tool. Torque the axle nutfrom the right side knowing that the welded nut will not turn allowing thebelt to lose it’s adjustment.

HINES TAKES V-ROD TO FINAL ROUND AT NHRA U.S. NATIONALS–Hines Seeded Second, Krawiec Seventh for Countdown To One Playoffs.
CLERMONT, IND. (Sept. 1, 2008) ? Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines advanced to the final round of the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O?Reilly Raceway Park. Riding a Harley-Davidson V-Rod, Hines lost by a margin of just 0.008 seconds to Snap-On Suzuki rider Steve Johnson in the final.
?I?ve guess I?ve won and lost by smaller margins,? said Hines. ?I can?t hang my head. I got a great start and hit all my shifts, but Johnson ran me down at the end of the track and beat me by maybe six inches. But this was an exciting weekend for the Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines team, and both our riders are in great position for the Countdown.?
It was the 26th trip to the final round of an NHRA event for Hines, but the first to the finals at the prestigious U.S. Nationals for the three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion. Hines qualified third for the event with a run of 6.969 seconds, and then defeated Rocklin Motorsports Buell rider Peggy Llewellyn in round one, Indicom Electric Buell rider Angie McBride in round two, and MB Precision Machining Suzuki rider Mike Berry in round three to make it to the final. Hines got an outstanding start, with a reaction time of 0.009 seconds and beat Johnson, who left in 0.037, off the line. But Johnson caught Hines in the final 100 feet of the track. Hines had an ET of 7.063 to 7.034 for Johnson.
Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec, who won the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle bonus event on Saturday, rode his Screamin? Eagle V-Rod to the seventh spot in qualifying with a run of 6.990 seconds. Krawiec then lost to Berry by just 0.002 seconds on a hole-shot run in the first round of eliminations. Krawiec had a reaction time of 0.066 seconds and an ET of 7.041 seconds, to the 0.012/7.093 run posted by Berry.
?I was off a little on my reaction time,? said Krawiec, ?I try to be in the 40s on every run. But it was a great weekend for the team with the Ringers win and Andrew in the finals. Now we wipe the slate clean for the Countdown, and I?m just 80 points out of first place.?
The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series now moves into its playoff season as the top-ten riders in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class will compete in the five-race Countdown to One, which begins on Sept. 11 at the NHRA Carolina Nationals at Lowe?s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C. Both Hines and Krawiec have qualified for the Countdown. Season points are reset, with the number one qualifier, Matt Smith, earning a 30-point lead over Hines, the number two qualifier. Krawiec, seeded seventh, starts the Countdown 80 points behind Smith.
NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycles will race next September 11-14 at the NHRA Carolina Nationals at Lowe?s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.
