Curtiss Motorcycles Announces Hera – the Brand’s Luxurious All-Electric Flagship

Amid the glitz and glamour of Monterey’s annual Car Week, Curtiss Motorcycles (OTC: CMOT) announced its upcoming all-electric flagship model named Hera. Hera joins Zeus as Curtiss continues its lineup of Hellenic “Hot Rod Gods.” Only, in this case, it’s a Goddess.

Speaking to motoring enthusiasts and media at a hangar in Monterey, Curtiss Chairman and CEO Matt Chambers said, “With Hera, we set out to create the world’s most luxurious motorcycle. Featuring the world’s first V8 battery architecture, an ultra-powerful, yet refined, E-Twin motor, and a 66-inch wheelbase, Hera will occupy a class all her own.”

According to Curtiss Design Director Jordan Cornille, Hera is inspired by Glenn Curtiss’ land speed record-setting 1907 V8 motorcycle, the iconic machine which earned Glenn Curtiss the title “Fastest Man on Earth” when on January 23, 1907, he reached 136.3mph on Ormond Beach in Florida.

Utilizing a proprietary battery and electronics architecture, Hera pays homage to the iconic 1907 Curtiss V8 by reimagining the machine it in an all-electric form, complete with eight “cylinders” of high-density lithium-ion batteries.

Hera promises to deliver even greater speed than its record-setting predecessor, but in a far more luxurious package. Hera’s long wheelbase and low stance give her a classic and sensual proportion, a deliberate nod to the proportion of the original golden age of American motorcycling.

With the announcement of Hera, Curtiss continues to ratchet up the heat in the growing electric motorcycle space. The news comes on the heels of Harley-Davidson’s recent signaling of their own upcoming electric model. With both brands set to release bikes over the next 18-24 months, the stage is set for an all-electric all-American motorcycle showdown between two brands with deep roots in American motorcycle history. Detailed specifications and pricing for the Curtiss Zeus have not yet been released.

VAUGHN BEALS R.I.P.–
Rest in peace Vaughn Beals, 1928 – 2018. Beals joined Harley-Davidson in 1975 as an engineer. In 1981, he led a group of investors who bought Harley-Davidson back from AMF and into independence.

He became Chairman and CEO, leading HDMC through the turbulent early 1980s and back to profitability. We are saddened by his passing.

Voting Rights Restoration Efforts in Florida–A summary of current felony disenfranchisement policies and legislative advocacy in Florida.

On January 23, 2018 Floridians for a Fair Democracy announced that their campaign, Florida Second Chances, had surpassed the 766,200 signature threshold to get an amendment on the 2018 ballot that would give the ability to vote back to Floridians with felony convictions that have completed their sentences. Florida is an outlier in denying voting rights, with one of the most punitive disenfranchisement policies in the country. As a result, if this constitutional amendment passes in November, over 1.5 million Floridians would be eligible to register to vote.

Florida has the highest disenfranchisement rate in the country. It is one of three states, along with Iowa and Kentucky, to permanently bar all citizens with felony convictions from voting. Currently, Floridians can only regain the ability to vote if they individually apply to the state Office of Executive Clemency and their application is one of the few granted. The amendment would give Floridians who have already served their time a second chance at democratic participation.

Current Rights Restoration Process

Florida is one of four states whose constitution permanently disenfranchises citizens with past felony convictions and grants the governor the authority to restore voting rights. The others are Kentucky and Iowa, where lifetime bars are in place, and Virginia, where the governor has promised to restore voting rights on a rolling basis. In Florida, the rights restoration process is determined by clemency rules set by the state’s governor.

The current clemency rules, which Gov. Rick Scott issued in 2011, are the most restrictive in several administrations. By December 2015, nearly five years after taking office, Gov. Scott’s administration had restored voting rights to fewer than 2,000 Floridians statewide, while over 20,000 applications remained pending. Meanwhile, in the period between 2010 and 2016, the disenfranchised population Floridians grew by nearly 150,000 to a staggering estimated total of 1,686,000.

On February 1, 2018 a federal district court judge in Tallahassee ruled that the “unfettered discretion that the [Florida] Clemency Board possesses” violates both the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. The case – Hand v. Scott – is a class action lawsuit filed last March by the Fair Elections Legal Network. A copy of the opinion can be found here.

Voting Rights Restoration Amendment History

Florida citizens have been gathering signatures for a ballot initiative that would amend Florida’s constitution and restore voting rights to most people who have completed their sentences. In October 2016, the initiative’s sponsors gathered enough signatures to trigger review by the Florida Supreme Court — a process required of all constitutional amendments. The process evaluated only whether an initiative meets Florida’s rules for how amendments can be written; it did not address an amendment’s substance. After a March 6 hearing, at which the State Attorney General did not oppose the proposal, the Court approved the text of the ballot initiative.

This decision cleared the way for the ballot initiative to appear on the ballot once the initiative’s supporters collected enough signatures.

I have a Revtec gen II. All standard except from the Crane Cams Ignition. Bike also has a 6-speed Revtec gearbox. Tuned i bench to 100 hp on rear whell. Reliable and great fun at traffic lights. With 158nM of torque, is accelarates faster than most people will admit.

Very strong setup. Needs a strong starter engine though.

NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON FXDR 114 POURS ON PERFORMANCE–A Dynamic Power Cruiser Combines Milwaukee-Eight Muscle with Weight-Saving Aluminum and Composite Components.

The new Harley-Davidson FXDR 114 motorcycle delivers moto-aggression with a technical edge. Like a drag racer crossed with a fighter jet, this unapologetic power cruiser brings a new level of all-out performance to the Harley-Davidson line-up. The FXDR 114 combines the unrelenting power of the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 engine with the liberal use of new weight-saving aluminum and composite components. Every aspect of handling and performance is amplified.

“This motorcycle is really a blast to ride,” said David Latz, Lead Product Manager at Harley-Davidson. “The FXDR 114 surrounds the very capable Softail® chassis with Milwaukee-Eight 114 power, premium front and rear suspension and a host of new weight-saving components and materials. This is a power cruiser that delivers exceptional ride and handling characteristics.”

Less than a month after announcing plans for future product in new-to-the-brand categories and a commitment to advance its heavyweight Touring and Cruiser models, the Motor Company introduces the FXDR 114 as the 10th Harley-Davidson model based on the Softail platform.

Focus on Weight Reduction

The aluminum swingarm achieves a 10.2-pound weight reduction (13.8 pounds vs. 24 pounds, or 43 percent less) over a steel Softail swingarm accommodating a 240 mm rear tire. Because the unsprung weight (weight located below the suspension) it has a significant impact on rear suspension performance, enhanced further by a lightweight 18-inch-diameter aluminum disc rear wheel.

The 19-inch forged aluminum Ace front wheel is a light-weight design that features very thin spokes. The FXDR 114 seat and tail section are supported by a sub-frame of welded aluminum tubing, and the tail section is composite. This replaces a steel subframe, steel rear fender and aluminum fender supports used on other Softail models, for a weight savings of about seven pounds. Front and rear fenders are lightweight composite material.

Styled at the Strip

The FXDR communicates its commitment to all-out performance through visual design inspired at the drag strip, where the application of torque to pavement is sophisticated in its execution.

“The look of the FXDR 114 expresses its performance potential and highlights the technical features that set it apart from the rest of the Softail line-up,” said Brad Richards, Vice President of Styling and Design. “The drag-bike influence is strong with the raked and inverted front end, massive intake and exhaust, proportional contrast between the wheels, and the clipped tail section. But we made sure that purely technical elements like the aluminum swingarm, fully integrated digital instrumentation within the rider controls, and exposed external suspension adjuster are highlighted as well and help define this bike’s mission, which is pure performance, not just straight-line performance.”

A speed screen frames the LED headlamp and helps breaks the wind, while a stretched 4.4-gallon fuel tank exclusive to the FXDR 114 lengthens the profile of the motorcycle. A race-inspired chin fairing conceals much of the oil cooler.

The tail section is clipped short in drag bike/stunter style to expose the 240mm rear tire. A solo seat flows seamlessly into the tail section. A cover on the top of the tail section can be removed to reveal a storage compartment within the subframe.

A molded composite rear fender is shaped to hug the tire and moves with it through the range of the suspension, so it becomes almost invisible when the FXDR 114 is in motion.

A rear lighting module and license plate fixture is secured to an aluminum spar mounted to the left side of the swingarm, leaving the right side of the rear wheel dramatically exposed. The front and rear wheel are finished in contrast Gloss Black and Satin Black paint and detailed with bright “bolt heads” and laser-etched orange graphics in the rims.

Dynamic Chassis

A strong-and-rigid Softail chassis tuned to deliver responsive handling will reward assertive riders with thrilling agility when riding through twisting backroads and navigating congested urban traffic.

The FXDR 114 features the Softail monoshock rear suspension with a single coil-over shock with internal free-piston technology and optimized angle between the frame and swingarm for enhanced travel and response. The shock is equipped with an external hydraulic pre-load adjustment knob to allow the rider to quickly and easily dial in optimal suspension performance for the prevailing load and conditions.

Inverted 43mm forks stiffen the front end for improved response to steering input. Single-cartridge internal fork damping technology and a triple-rate spring respond quickly to inputs to help keep the front wheel planted for improved braking and handling performance. The FXDR 114 offers more lean angle than any other Softail model – 32.6 degrees to the left and 32.8 degrees to the right.

The dual 300mm front disc brakes provide strong braking performance with less lever effort. A confidence-inspiring Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is standard equipment on the FXDR 114.

High-performance Michelin® Scorcher® 11 front (120mm) and rear (240mm) tires contribute to optimized handling and braking performance. Secured by the deep solo seat, the rider grips aluminum clip-on handlebars in an athletic position over the tank. Information is presented by a compact digital display located within the speed screen.

Milwaukee-Eight Muscle

The FXDR 114 is equipped with the most-powerful engine offered in the Softail chassis, a Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-Twin tuned to pound out up to 119 ft. lb. of torque at 3500 rpm (U.S. model).

The shape of the forward-facing air intake is inspired by the World Champion Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines drag bikes and designed to enhance the airflow into the engine. The exposed air filter utilizes a new synthetic media that does not require oiling.

A new 2-into-1 exhaust is tuned to emit a throaty rumble and shaped to maximize lean angle. Advanced four-valve cylinder head design, dual knock sensors, and precision oil cooling permit a 10.0:1 compression ratio for strong torque output – and thrilling acceleration – from off-idle to wide-open throttle.

The engine is rigid-mounted to further stiffen a Softail chassis engineered to deliver precise response to steering and braking input. Dual counter-balancers cancel primary vibration at idle for improved rider comfort.

Riders craving even more power can upgrade the FXDR 114 with street-legal performance parts from Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Accessories, including a Screamin’ Eagle Titanium Performance slip-on muffler that weighs 50 percent less than the stock muffler and produces an appealing, aggressive tone. Installation of the muffler achieves a Screamin’ Eagle Stage I performance upgrade when combined with a Screamin’ Eagle Air Cleaner Kit and the Screamin’ Eagle Pro Street Tuner.

Stage I is the foundation for available Screamin’ Eagle Stage II, Stage III and Stage IV kits that can take Milwaukee-Eight 114 performance through the roof, with the assurance of an intact factory warranty when installed by an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer.

Welcome to the August Women Riders Now Newsletter!–When I read Genevieve’s review of Gloria Struck’s book, “Gloria, A Lifetime Motorcyclist: 75 Years on Two Wheels and Still Riding,” it got me thinking about how bikes have changed the lives of women riders, especially older women who are still riding strong following adverse times.

Two women come to mind that fit that description. One is Linda Watts, a nurse practitioner in a small Texas town. Just before she turned 60, her husband left her. She cried for a while, then picked herself up and joined the Peace Corps. She just wrapped up a stint in Africa, training young women to become nurses. Linda tried a different type of ride while there, but she will be back on her two wheels shortly.

I met Jolenta Court during the Spyders in the Hills Rally in 2017. When her husband and son had both passed away a few years ago, she knew the open road would help heal her. She packed up her belongings, added a trailer, and kept riding —solo. Her journey has taken her from the Canadian to the Mexican borders and from the Pacific to the Atlantic oceans. (Hey, Jolenta! Once you stop for a while send us an update on your travels.)

To Sam and Ruben in previous comments, they lost a big part of their
motorcycle content when Cyril Huze died and they couldn’t copy off his
site anymore. The majority of their bike articles were basically copied
and pasted off his site, I would read his blogs and then see the exact
same article 2 or 3 days later on here.

Now they actually have to
research and write motorcycle articles.

SAVING 40+ states from high energy costs–It’s a myth that the United States cannot lower emissions while promoting American energy dominance on the world stage. But the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan (CPP) sacrificed affordable, competitive energy in favor of bureaucratic red tape.

The Trump Administration is proposing the Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) Rule to restore the proper role of states under the Clean Air Act. Under the Obama CPP, working- and middle-class families would’ve been hit with higher electricity costs—as much as double-digit price increases in 40 states. Partly as a result, a bipartisan majority of Congress formally disapproved of the CPP.

The new ACE Rule, on the other hand, proposes new emissions guidelines while giving states flexibility in how to achieve them. That will allow different parts of the country to construct diverse, reliable energy portfolios that best fit their specific needs.

NEWS FROM THE DAV–Texas veteran, advocate named Outstanding Disabled Veteran of the Year

Texas native Callie Rios was named the Outstanding Disabled Veteran of the Year at the DAV and DAV Auxiliary 97th National Convention in July.

In 2002, Rios enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18. The single mother was seeking a better future for her child. When she joined the military, Rios took an oath to defend her country and was prepared to face any enemy on behalf of the nation. But she never expected to be attacked by a fellow soldier.

“There was a turning point in my military career at Fort Knox when I was the victim of a sexual assault,” recalled Rios. “I did not really find much support in my unit; I didn’t really find much support anywhere. It was a very lonely time for me. I came back out of it, and now I’m ready to help other women who were in the same situation as I was.”

Rios understands firsthand how difficult it can be to overcome injuries that are invisible to everyone else. She channels the trauma she suffered in the Army into supporting fellow veterans. This personal experience is what drives her commitment to ensuring others don’t hesitate to seek out mental health assistance.

Rios is active in DAV Chapter 58 in Midland, Texas, serving as the junior vice commander. In 2017, she spearheaded a chapter-sponsored women veterans conference, Heroes in Heels. Linking mental health practitioners and former servicewomen with invisible wounds was an event priority.

In addition to supporting women veterans, Rios provides outreach to former service members at an area college. As a former student veteran who now holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, she recognizes the unique challenges facing veterans on campus.

For nearly a decade she has served her home state as a volunteer member of the Texas State Guard, supporting humanitarian missions, including Hurricane Harvey.

With Eye on Next Year, SMRi Unveils New Logo Design for 79th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

(August 23, 2018 – Sturgis, SD) Over a half a million riders rolled into Sturgis, South Dakota, for the 78th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Folks came from all over the world, descending on the Black Hills region to help celebrate the world’s most iconic motorcycle gathering. With attendance and merchandise sales levels being the best since the iconic 75th anniversary three years ago, Sturgis 78 was a fantastic success.

BIKERNET STAFF DECIDES A ZOO MIGHT BE A GOOD NOTION– A Lion Spots A Lost Dog In The Jungle
A lost dog strays into a jungle. A lion sees this from a distance and says with caution “this guy looks edible, never seen his kind before”.

So the lion starts rushing towards the dog with menace. The dog notices and starts to panic but as he’s about to run he sees some bones next to him and gets an idea and says loudly “mmm…that was some good lion meat!”.

The lion abruptly stops and says ” woah! This guy seems tougher then he looks, I better leave while I can”.

Over by the tree top, a monkey witnessed everything. Evidently, the monkey realizes the he can benefit from this situation by telling the lion and getting something in return. So the monkey proceeds to tell the lion what really happened and the lion says angrily “get on my back, we’ll get him together”.

So they start rushing back to the dog. The dog sees them and realized what happened and starts to panic even more. He then gets another idea and shouts “where the hell is that monkey! I told him to bring me another lion an hour ago…”

Jonathan Switcher is a young artist. He just doesn’t seem to last in any job he does. But when he builds a mannequin, he makes it so perfect, he falls in love with it. It is the first thing he has made that makes him feel like a real artist. The mannequin ends up in the window of a big department store. When he saves the life of an old lady who happens to be the owner of that store, he is rewarded by getting a job at the store as stock boy. Later the mannequin comes to life as Emmy, who was an ancient Egyptian living in the year 2514 BC. The two redesign the window display to make it most eye catching in town. The store competitors are not happy and will do anything to stop them!

PRIVATE EYE FOR THE CURIOUS KIND

It was a blue Monday with a redhead outside my office when I clocked in at noon for my day job as private investigator for the busy city offering low hanging fruits of profit. Usually the girl is pretty, blonde and trouble. This one sat quietly hiding a deafening storm as I offered her a tea cup with freshly poured brandy.

Do you have any thoughts on how I could get a copy for him? He will be 80 at the end of October, and is still riding cross country, in fact he still has 6 motorcycles after giving me 2. I would really appreciate any help you may be able to offer.

My standard fee is $35 plus expenses. I gave her a standard contract and she read it with interest as if she had found the lost manuscript she had been searching for. Young girl with long red hair and deep green eyes – a Daddy who loves her and a Panhead they can’t forget. It wasn’t too much to do and I would tell her so if she paid an advance.

As she left through the door I wondered what could make a gal like that smile. I wished I could call her right now and ask.

Two days passed in coffee shops and biker bars. A large man in a 5-Ball Racing leather suit showed up one night and asked for the man with the Fedora Linux laptop. He walked up to my table and drank my stale beer. He hesitated a bit about introducing himself but then no one is who they say they are.

“Big Daddy” Roth Choppers Magazine December 1968 – Good Condition” – he smiled through his black teeth and spit out the rest – “Good, Seam Wear with tight binding with no loose pages” – he laid down a few black and whites – “the pictures are a scan of the actual magazine you are purchasing”.

“Listen smarty, $89 plus shipping. You can find the stuff at Orange, California. As for the wife, you will get yours in time and the shitstorm she brings.”

I paid cash though I could charge it to my PayPal account. He took out the magazine wrapped in old Chinese newspapers bound in twine from the burnt down La Paloma ship. Even a burlap sea bag for carrying it in.

“What is this old biker rag about anyway?” he asked sincerely.

“The stuff dreams are made of” and I walked out unknowingly leaving the bloke stuck with my bar tab. Jinkz-the-Cat he called himself. Well let’s hope the jinx doesn’t carry forward to me.

It was late afternoon when the redhead showed up on Thursday. I gave her the package. She asked if I had any trouble getting it for her. That she would pay for the expenses. That she liked the way I moved in my chair while sitting perfectly still. She had eyes alright. I knew what I was looking at. There couldn’t be more for us except this moment in time – like December 1968 when a Panhead roared on the street where she was born.

“Please do let me know if you need anything Mister”, her kind voice bled me through my heart and sunk into my gut.

I never really understood the difference between lay and lie. This is super embarrassing. Like is it lay in bed? Lie in bed? Is it lay your phone down? Lie your phone down? But … now that I’m a mom I figured I probably should know the difference between the two.

So you say lie, when it’s something you do yourself. You say lay, when it involves an object.

Step 2: use in a sentence

Can you lay your water down please?

CHILDREN OF THE GREATEST GENERATION

Born in the 1930s and early ‘40s, we exist as a very special age group—the “Silent Generation.”

We are the smallest group of children born since the early 1900s.

We are the last generation, climbing out of the depression, who can remember the winds of war and the impact of a world at war which rattled the structure of our daily lives for years.

We are the last to remember ration books for everything from gas to sugar to shoes to stoves.

We saved tin foil and poured fat into tin cans.

We saw cars up on blocks because tires weren’t available.

We can remember milk being delivered to our house early in the morning and placed in the “milk box” on the porch.
We are the last to see the gold stars in the front windows of our grieving neighbors whose sons died in the War.

We saw the ‘boys’ home from the war, build their little houses.

We are the last generation who spent childhood without television; instead, we imagined what we heard on the radio.

As we all like to brag, with no TV, we spent our childhood “playing outside”.

There was no little league.

There was no city playground for kids.
The lack of television in our early years meant, for most of us, that we had little real understanding of what the world was like.

On Saturday afternoons, the movies, gave us newsreels sandwiched in between westerns and cartoons.
Telephones were one to a house, often shared (party Lines) and hung on the wall in the kitchen (no cares about privacy).

Computers were called calculators, they were hand cranked; typewriters were driven by pounding fingers, throwing the carriage, and changing the ribbon.
The’INTERNET’ and ‘GOOGLE’ were words that did not exist.

Newspapers and magazines were written for adults and the news was broadcast on our radio in the evening by Gabriel Heatter and later Paul Harvey.
As we grew up, the country was exploding with growth.

The G.I. Bill gave returning veterans the means to get an education and spurred colleges to grow.

VA loans fanned a housing boom.
Pent up demand coupled with new installment payment plans opened many factories for work.

New highways would bring jobs and mobility. Now we can’t fix them…

The veterans joined civic clubs and became active in politics.

The radio network expanded from 3 stations to thousands.

Our parents were suddenly free from the confines of the depression and the war, and they threw themselves into exploring opportunities they had never imagined.

They were glad we played by ourselves until the street lights came on.

They were busy discovering the post war world.

We entered a world of overflowing plenty and opportunity; a world where we were welcomed, enjoyed ourselves and felt secure in our future.

Although depression ended, poverty was deeply remembered.
Polio was still a crippler.

We came of age in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

The Korean War was a dark passage in the early ‘50s and by mid-decade school children were ducking under desks for Air-Raid training.

Russia built the “Iron Curtain” and China became Red China.

Eisenhower sent the first ‘Army Advisers’ to Vietnam.

Castro took over in Cuba and Khrushchev came to power.

We are the last generation to experience an interlude when there were no threats to our homeland. The war was over and the cold war, terrorism, “global warming”, and perpetual economic insecurity had yet to haunt life with unease.

Only our generation can remember both a time of great war, and a time when our world was secure and full of bright promise and plenty. We lived through both.

We grew up at the best possible time, a time when the world was getting better, not worse.

We are “The Last Ones” More than 99 % of us are either retired or deceased, and we feel privileged to have “lived in the best of times.”

This tour is reserved for bikers who are in good physical condition and able to push and lift the motorcycle. This trip also requires a high level of mutual aid. Each participant will often have to help the other riders of the group so that together we reach the end of the circuit.

you reach this small kingdom where ancient monasteries represent Tibetan Buddhist culture. In the villages, look forward to a generous welcome from the local inhabitants.

CONFORMITY AND CONTROL–Every government in history has sought conformity and control. The chief weapon governments use to achieve them is psychological warfare.

The more perfect psychological warfare, the more perfect is conformity and control. These two terms — conformity and control — are self-enforcing. That is, where there is conformity, there is control. Where there is control, there is conformity. The greater the one, the greater the other.

We are the most conditioned and programmed beings the world has ever known. Not only are our thoughts and attitudes continually being shaped and molded, our very awareness of the whole design has been erased. Few question anything.

One important thought here: A person’s IQ or education level has absolutely nothing to do with his perception of reality. Higher education is higher brainwashing. Sometimes it seems that the more education, the bigger the fool.

I myself went through four years of college, worked on a master’s degree and attended law school. What a pity! It took valuable time and money for me to pay for the brainwash. It took years to get over it. I had to completely erase this education foolishness before I could begin to have half sense. My inquiring attitude and much, much reading helped me escape the programmed maze that entrapped me. The many conflicts and confusion were emotionally and financially costly.

The basis of mass mind control is the use of carefully chosen words that have been twisted and distorted to manipulate the public mind. Whole volumes could be written about this. Few escape this psychological warfare. Words are created and repeated. This repetitiveness expands the collective psyche to further accept and repeat.

Edward L. Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud, is the father of manipulative propaganda in America. He says that mass persuasion and mass hypnosis is the fundamental of so-called democracy.

This is from Bernays book, Propaganda:

“Those who manipulate the unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested largely by men we have never heard of.

“In almost every act of our lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business or in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.”

The public mind is controlled once a person believes a “fact” long enough. He or she can no longer ponder or contemplate information or a question that challenges the “established” fact. The mind simply cannot process information that conflicts with previously accepted data. Prior conditioning is difficult to challenge.

The same is true if we believe a lie long enough. We cannot ponder or contemplate information that challenges the lie, even if the lie is lethal, such as “fluoride prevents cavities.”

Psychologists call this quirk of human nature cognitive dissonance. It means the rejection of information not in harmony with previous beliefs.

We are now being told that certain thoughts and ideas are “hate speech” and therefore out of bounds and must be eliminated. The internet is being scrubbed of any thought that deviates outside the norm if it can be labeled as “hate speech,” which is of course a nebulous, meaningless and undefinable term. It’s being done with the endorsement of politicians and leftist media pundits.

This is thought/mind control on a mass scale, bigger than Nazi book burnings. It is the electronic “memory hole” in action. Big Brother would feel right at home.

OOPS, I CHEATED AND SQUEEZED IN A COUPLE OF POLITICAL ITEMS—Sorry.

I’m reading a book about writing screenplays and watching a lecture series about writing suspense fiction. I’m still learning.

I started my Eddie Trotta break-in program on the Panhead yesterday. I rode it a couple of blocks, maybe a ½-mile and then returned to the shop. Not bad, but I needed to adjust the seat forward and maybe down slightly. It’s always bothered me, but it was sorta comfortable.

Fortunately, I was able to move the seat forward 1.5 inches and down about 5/8-inch. Made a significant difference. I also adjusted the shifter pedal down closer to my boot. Another test ride tomorrow, maybe a mile or two.

We are working with Custom Cycle Engineering about a front end for Frankie’s FXR.

I’m working on a wild Cantina Episode, number 82. This bit is turning into a three-part series. Shit gets wild. Try to keep it sane this weekend.
