Last week we looked at the need for a process of producing energy that is cheap, plentiful, and reliable—and we saw that solar and wind cannot produce cheap, reliable energy. How Germany embraced solar and wind and ended up in energy poverty Let’s take a look at this in practice. Germany is considered by some to be the best success story in the world of effective solar and wind use, and you’ll often hear that they get a large percentage of their energy from solar and wind. You can see here on this chart how this claim was made and why it’s not accurate. First of all, this is just a chart of electricity. Solar and wind are only producing electricity and half of Germany’s energy needs also include fuel and heating. So solar and wind never contribute half as much to Germany’s energy needs as this chart would imply. But that’s not the biggest problem. What you notice here is that there’s certain days and times where there are large spikes, but there are also periods where there’s relatively little. What that means is that you can’t rely on solar and wind ever. You always have to have an infrastructure that can produce all of your electricity independent of the solar and wind because you can always go a long period with very little solar and wind. So then why are the solar and wind necessary? Well, you could argue that they’re not and that adding them onto the grid will impose a lot of costs. In Germany, electricity prices have more than doubled since 2000 when solar and wind started receiving massive subsidies and favorable regulations, and their electricity prices are three to four times what we would pay in the U.S. (Because of its low reliability, solar, and wind energy options require an alternative backup—one that’s cheap, plentiful, and reliable—to make it work, thus creating a more expensive and inefficient process.) Nuclear and hydro Fossil fuels are not the only reliable sources. There are two others that don’t generate CO2 that are significant and are more limited, but still significant contributors. Those are hydroelectric energy and nuclear energy. Hydroelectric energy can be quite affordable over time, but it’s limited to locations where you have the right physical situation to produce hydroelectric power. Nuclear is more interesting because nuclear doesn’t have the problems of hydro but it’s been very restricted throughout history so today in the vast majority of cases it’s considerably more expensive than say electricity from natural gas. This may change in the future and one thing we’ll discuss under policy is how we need to have the right policies so that all energy technologies can grow and flourish, if indeed the creators of those technologies can do it. The reality of energy poverty: a story To illustrate just how important it is to have cheap, plentiful, and reliable energy, I want to share a story I came across while doing research for my book, The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels. This is a story about a baby born in the very poor country of Gambia. The baby was born underweight and premature, but not in such a way that would be a big problem in say, the United States. In the United States, the solution would have been obvious: incubation. This technology would almost certainly bring this baby up to be completely healthy, and if you met the baby later in life you would never know that there had ever been a problem. Unfortunately, in the Gambia, in this particular hospital, they needed something that billions of people in the world do not have, and that is reliable electricity. Without reliable electricity, the hospital didn’t even contemplate owning an incubator, the one thing this baby desperately needed to survive. Without access to this technology, the baby could not survive on her own, and sadly, she died. I think this story reminds us of what it means to have access to cheap, plentiful, and reliable energy, and how having more energy gives us the ability to improve our lives. To summarize what we discussed, if you can’t afford energy you don’t have energy, and if energy is scarce or unreliable, then you don’t have energy when you need it. It’s not just enough to have energy, the energy and the process to create it has to be cheap, plentiful, and reliable.Holiday Sales Bikernet Weekly News for December 9th, 2021

Custom LiveWire One Motorcycles Debut at Autopia 2099 in Los Angeles

Reimagined Electric Motorcycles Launch the Future of Customization
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 9, 2021) – The customization potential of the LiveWire One™ electric motorcycle was on full display on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Autopia 2099, a new and dedicated EV event held at Optimist Studios in Los Angeles designed to showcase electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and other mobility solutions. The event featured more than 80 vehicles, from home-built and conversion EVs to brand new cars and trucks, plus a display of what the event organizers called retrofuturism. Two custom motorcycle builders, SMCO and Earle Motors, presented the first fully customized LiveWire One motorcycles, both of which originated in Los Angeles, a city rapidly becoming LiveWire’s most successful market.
“The custom bikes showcased at Autopia make a big statement on behalf of LiveWire,” said Ryan Morrissey, Chief Electric Vehicle Officer. “Personalization has always been an element of motorcycle culture, and this weekend SMCO and Earle Motors demonstrated the customization potential of LiveWire One. These custom bikes and components are early indicators of our intent to incorporate limited edition builds and accessories into the digital bike builder on LiveWire.com.”
SMCO: LiveWire One Hooligan Racer
Brothers Aaron and Shaun Guardado started racing as young teenagers, first in shifter karts and then in high performance import cars before they turned their attention to motorcycles. They founded SMCO in 2010 to sell branded T-shirts and started building custom competition motorcycles in their Long Beach, Calif., shop to back up the brand and feed their appetite for racing and performance. Now in their mid-30s, the brothers have built serious Harley-Davidson flat trackers and performance bikes for hooligan racing, and even converted a pair of Harley-Davidson® Street Rod® motorcycles into snow bikes for a winter hill climb at the ESPN X Games.
“When we got our hands on the LiveWire One, we immediately wanted to race it,” said Aaron Guardado.
This past July, Shaun and Aaron entered a pair of LiveWire One bikes in the Roland Sands Super Hooligan Championship at the Laguna Seca race course in California. The series is open to almost any motorcycle, and for the event the bikes were stripped of lighting but were otherwise stock.
“The bikes are so fast and so much fun to ride, but we wanted to find ways to improve on that performance,” said Aaron. “We started by reducing rotating mass with a set of carbon fiber wheels from BST. Then we removed all the stock bodywork and used it to make molds for our own lightweight carbon fiber body pieces. We also designed our own rear-set foot controls to put us in a more-aggressive posture for road racing the bike.”
The SMCO race-prepped LiveWire One bikes were displayed this past weekend at Autopia in the unpainted carbon bodywork.
“This project really pushed us into some new technology,” said Aaron. “We learned to use CAD and a 3D printer to create the rear sets, for example.”
All of the carbon bodywork created by the Guardado brothers uses the stock mounting points on a LiveWire One, and if there’s interest from other owners, the parts may show up for sale in the future.
Earle Motors: E/MULHOLLAND CUSTOM
When designer Alex Earle needs to unwind, he often does it on his LiveWire One electric motorcycle.
“I’ve spent a lot of time riding off road, but I discovered the LiveWire One was the perfect stress-relief street ride,” said Earle, who teaches powersports design at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, Calif. “I live near the base of Mulholland Drive, a famous and very curvy road winding from Los Angeles up into the mountains. On weekends it’s nuts with cars and bikes, but on an evening during the week nobody is there. It’s like my private road. Unlike an internal combustion bike, the LiveWire One is quiet, and smooth, and cool. I can make a run up Mulholland, or Decker Canyon Road, stop at Old Place or the Rock Store. It’s a great escape.”
Earle Motors is more of an outlet for Earle’s creativity than it is a business, and he turned that creative design bent on his LiveWire One, in a very dramatic way.
“Initially this bike was intimidating, because it’s electric,” said Earle. “There’s no exhaust, for example, which is always an easy starting point for customization. And no fuel tank. I had two goals in mind – to consolidate the design and adjust the ergonomics for my own comfort. I want it to fit like a tailored suit.”
Earle replaced most of the bodywork with pieces of his own design, created in composite on a 3D printer, except for the “fuel tank” in front of the seat, which covers tightly packed electronics that can’t be reshaped. He removed the rear fender and lighting, and replaced the tail section with one he formed of welded steel.
“I painted the electronics cover, which looks like a fuel tank, in Synthetic Haze, a gray-to-blue fade developed during World War II to help airplanes appear less visible in the sky, which lowers the profile of the entire bike,” said Earle. “I filled in the space below that cover with a new finned piece that wraps around in front of the seat. The fins are the same shape as those on the battery case in the center of the bike.”
The part Earle removed incorporates air scoops to cool electronic components, and to replace that cooling capacity he created hollow galleries within the fins in which coolant might circulate. Two small hoses on the show bike would carry that coolant to a finned heat exchanger located between the forks. To create this part, Earle made detailed drawings, and had the entire motorcycle digitally scanned by Mimic 3D. His drawing and the scan was handed off to PROTOTYP3, a firm founded by two of his former students, who recreated it in CAD and then made the part in one piece with a 3D printer.
“It was amazing that when I got the part the holes lined up perfectly with the mounting points on the bike.” said Earle. “Right now, this is an idea, not a functional feature. I have no way of testing it, but I designed it so that I think it could be functional. The next step would be to 3D print it in aluminum.”
The lower bodywork behind the front wheel is shaped to be an air curtain to smooth flow around the battery case. Its bright orange color is meant to draw the eye down and lower the perceived profile of the bike. Earle removed the stock headlamp and its nacelle to fit three LED lights.
“The new tail section and a custom motard-style seat I designed raise the seat height several inches, which is perfect for my six-foot three-inch frame,” said Earle. “Saddlemen covered the seat in black leather, and it looks great. I also installed a chrome handlebar that’s lower than stock, chrome because it doesn’t get scuffed up when I transport the bike.”
A final custom detail can be found on a logo Earle created for a new charging port cover, which combines the number 23 – which he has always used on his competition-style customs – with an elk antler design that’s also used by the Old Place on Mulholland.
“Some of the inspiration for this project comes from my students, who show up in class with these computers they have built themselves, and they are liquid cooled,” said Earle. “People have been hot rodding motorcycles the same way for 70 years, but how will that happen in the future, when bikes are electric? How will this generation customize a bike? They can 3D print their own parts. They could liquid cool the electronics. I’m hoping this project gets on Instagram and some 17-year-old in Portugal sees it and gets a spark of inspiration. That will be the future of customization.”

KNUCKLE PROJECT REPORT—I’m pondering a name for this project. I tend to want to build it pure with a kicker and a 4-speed ratchet top transmission, but the electric start transmission issue is a serious consideration. It’s all over the place at this point.
I spoke to Myron Larrabee who went on a ride with Paul Yaffe. Paul built a bike with an S&S Knucklehead engine and like my recent Panhead he ran a belt drive to a used 1996 5-speed tranny out of a Road King. So, I reached out to Paul for the formula.
“When we do belt drive primary’s we purchase a Primo 3-inch belt drive and then we cut it all up and turn it into our own 2-inch minimal looking belt drive,” said Paul.
Irish Rich, Shamrock Customs, is fixing and modifying a single-loop VL frame and my XA Springer frontend from Matt Olsen may arrive today or tomorrow. The other electric option is with W&W. I need to check it out.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS–Congress Considers Landmark Recreation Legislation
The MIC, the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association are joining numerous outdoor recreation businesses, associations, conservation groups, and enthusiasts urging Congress to pass a sweeping recreation package of bills that would be a great boost for powersports.
In The Hill newspaper, Jessica (Wahl) Turner, executive director of the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (which is supported by the MIC, the SVIA, and ROHVA), wrote about the potential impact of the legislation:
“Through a combination of bipartisan and bicameral bills the outdoor recreation industry has long supported – including the Simplifying Outdoor Access for Recreation (SOAR) Act, Recreation Not Red Tape Act (RNR), and the Ski Hill Resources for Economic Development (SHRED) Act – as well as other outdoor recreation legislation like the newly introduced Outdoor Recreation Act, this package would be a legacy achievement for our shared natural resources and all who enjoy them today and in the future.
“These bills streamline the permitting process for outfitted excursions, support “gateway” communities, create public/private partnerships to modernize campground infrastructure, extend shoulder seasons and improve visitation data on public lands to help with overcrowding, make common-sense updates to antiquated systems, and provide more tools in the toolbox for land managers to plan for sustainable recreation for years to come.”
“At a time of such deep division in Congress, one issue they have reached bipartisan agreement on is outdoor recreation,” said Scott Schloegel, MIC senior vice president of government relations. “There are many issues that divide Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. But working together on a package of bills to ensure public lands access, and make it easier, benefits both motorized and non-motorized groups. This has united senators and gives us hope that it may generate even more bipartisanship going forward.”

Michael Shellenberger: A major new staff report from the New York Federal Reserve Bank throws cold water on the over-heated rhetoric coming from activist investors, bankers, and politicians. “How Bad Are Weather Disasters for Banks?” asks the title of the report by three economists. “Not very,” they answer in the first sentence of the abstract.
The reason is because “weather disasters over the last quarter century had insignificant or small effects on U.S. banks’ performance.” The study looked at FEMA-level disasters between 1995 and 2018, at county-level property damage estimates, and the impact on banking revenue.

Mike Stevenson and Chopper builder from the ‘60s was recently hanging with a friend, Glenn and talking about old times. Mike made the sissybar on Glenn’s Indian.
Glenn rebuilt the engine with car pistons and the handlebars were repurposed from a dune buggy bumper. “In 1968 we rode to san Francisco, Two Pans and an Indian,” Mike said.

ABOUT THE GLOBAL WARMING PAUSE—
On the UAH data, there has been no global warming at all for very nearly seven years since January of 2015. The New Pause has lengthened by three months, thanks to what may prove to be a small double-dip la Niña:
On the HadCRUT4 data, there has been no global warming for close to eight years, since March 2014. That period can be expected to lengthen once the HadCRUT data are updated – the “University” of East Anglia is slower at maintaining the data these days than it used to be.
Last month I wrote that Pat Frank’s paper of 2019 demonstrating by standard statistical methods that data uncertainties make accurate prediction of global warming impossible was perhaps the most important ever to have been published on the climate-change question in the learned journals…
And that is why these long Pauses in global temperature have become ever more important. They give us a far better indication of the true likely rate of global warming than any of the costly but ineffectual and inaccurate predictions made by climatologists. And they show that global warming is far smaller and slower than had originally been predicted.
As Dr Benny Peiser of the splendid Global Warming Policy Foundation has said in his recent lecture to the Climate Intelligence Group (available on YouTube), there is a growing disconnect between the shrieking extremism of the climate Communists, on the one hand, and the growing caution of populations such as the Swiss, on the other, who have voted down a proposal to cripple the national economy and Save The Planet on the sensible and scientifically-justifiable ground that the cost will exceed any legitimately-conceivable benefit.
By now, most voters have seen for themselves that The Planet, far from being at risk from warmer weather worldwide, is benefiting therefrom. There is no need to do anything at all about global warming except to enjoy it.
Now that it is clear beyond any scintilla of doubt that official predictions of global warming are even less reliable than consulting palms, tea-leaves, tarot cards, witch-doctors, shamans, computers, national academies of sciences, schoolchildren or animal entrails, the case for continuing to close down major Western industries one by one, transferring their jobs and profits to Communist-run Russia and China, vanishes away.
The global warming scare is over. Will someone tell the lackwit scientific illiterates who currently govern the once-free West, against which the embittered enemies of democracy and liberty have selectively, malevolently and profitably targeted the climate fraud?

Inspiration and Recovery: Wounded Veteran Climbs the Seven Summits (on display now)
In September 2009, Specialist Benjamin Breckheimer, a Cavalry Scout with the U.S. Army 2nd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, was severely wounded during a tour in Afghanistan.
His rehabilitation was difficult as he endured numerous surgeries. During this same time, the Harley-Davidson Museum regularly sent care packages – including H-D Museum™ flags dotted with well wishes – to active-duty military personnel.
Breckheimer took to mountaineering during his recovery and over the summer carried the H-D Museum flag to the summit of Denali, the highest point in North America. With that peak reached, Breckheimer became the first and only Purple Heart recipient to reach all the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. He continues to climb, and he shares his inspiring story to encourage resiliency and support the mental health of veterans and current service members.

In the early part of the 20th century, motorcycle culture was a homegrown phenomenon. It grew out of the passion of riders for their evolving sport. The camaraderie that developed around riding and attending competitive events led to the formation of motorcycle clubs that hosted destination rides, family picnics with motorcycle games and other riding competitions.
The newly reinstalled display case in the Clubs & Competition gallery highlights clothing from club members from primarily the 1930s and 1940s. The clothing selections on view include full dress uniforms, shirts, sweaters, jackets, and caps, customized by the owners with their club name and logo, and pins or patches indicating membership in the American Motorcyclist Association. The H-D Archives™ collection includes Motorclothes® apparel sold in H-D® product catalogs but also non-H-D produced clothing items that have been proudly customized by riders.

Alfonso Sotomayor’s 1957 Model FL (on display now)
The Harley-Davidson Museum is proud to announce its collection has recently grown with the addition of a 1957 Model FL that was ridden by famed Mexican stunt rider and racer Alfonso Sotomayor Canales.
Harley-Davidson’s history in Mexico dates back to at least 1913. In the 1920s, the brand was more frequently spotted throughout Mexico City as the motorcycles proved popular with the local traffic police who would also perform stunts with their Harley-Davidson® bikes. After racing from the 1930s into the 1960s, Sotomayor launched his own stunt riding career by performing the famed “Salto de la Muerte” or Jump of Death. Learn more about Sotomayor’s feats of derring-do and Harley-Davidson’s early entry into Mexico with this new display located in the Custom Culture area.
In the decades before America paved its highways, early riders had to be prepared for all sorts of terrain: sand, clay or dirt – and wandering those makeshift byways were Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Today, it’s called off-road or adventure touring; back then it was just called riding. Since 1903, Harley-Davidson motorcycles proved their toughness by riding over wooded hills, through stone-choked creek beds and up mountain sides. “Off-Road Harley-Davidson” tells the history of motorcycles designed for rough roads, the people who rode them and the adventures they shared.
A recently recovered cache of architectural drawings includes plans for the original Juneau Avenue facility. The pencil drawings, along with archival photographs, demonstrate the whirlwind pace of the company’s early growth. While building an international business—going from producing just over 1,000 motorcycles in 1909 to manufacturing 27,000 motorcycles in 1920—the company’s Milwaukee factory experienced near-constant expansion. Construction through this relatively brief period created the buildings that today, a century later, are still the proud home of Harley-Davidson.
“Building a Milwaukee Icon” provides a snapshot of Harley-Davidson’s formative years and illustrates a chapter of Milwaukee history when the city was known as the “Machine Shop to the World.”

Jim Woodruff, CEO of National Powersport Auctions, remains the board’s secretary/treasurer. I own a S&S KN74 and I am Very Pleased with this engine. I have searched every where on the www and the S&S site for the HP rating on this engine and can’t find any information. Would you please share the HP rating? The stock engines are 45 HP but the KN74 should be a little more than 45HP since it was made using better processes and technology.

THE OOPS REPORT OF THE DAY–The fake climate catastrophe has spawned a fake energy paradigm – replacing fossil fuels with wind and solar electricity. Wind and solar are claimed to be cheaper than traditional sources of electricity but non-fake accounting reveals that wind or solar electricity costs five or even ten times more than traditional electricity, exclusive, of course, of government subsidies and mandates.
The reason it costs so much is that the erratic nature of wind and solar requires maintaining the traditional electricity generating system intact and ready to operate when wind and solar fail. Solar fails every night, every cloudy day, and more often in winter. Wind fails at random times, or somewhat predictable times, and often has a seasonal cycle. If the renewable energy advocates were logical, they would be advocating for nuclear. Nuclear is reliable and does not produce CO2.
Climate change and wind and solar electricity are a snipe hunts, diverting the country from serious problems in favor of imaginary problems with imaginary solutions that enrich the promoters and their political friends with status and money.

I bought this roller used, unsure of the rake but being in PA “I assume” 52*. The rubber is 130 / 330-rear, the front is way too heavy.
While this goes together, I plan to put a -SurarBear- front due to the press I’ve seen/read on your expertise creating it.
I have a RoadKing with a bunch of miles on it and since this deal found me I gotta build it.
In my spare time I have been attempting to figure a length to order. Have I given you enough info if you could recommend one or is there some other way/other articles to point me at? I have never road your front but have ridden long custom builds. I hope you can point me. Thanks

THIS JUST IN FROM NEW ZEALAND REPORTER—
This was sent to me from another guy as I do not do Facebook. I am a full member of the Patriots after attending three of their monthly meetings in Dunedin. One must attend three of their events and lead a run from A to B and the run details have to be written by yourself so others riding have an idea of what to expect. It is not a mystery run.
The run was in conjunction with a Patriots rally at Bannockburn. Chrissie and Neville (from Invercargill) were getting hitched ( married ) at Lake Hawea some 70 km away.
Charisse led the group of some 30 motorcycles to Hawera, and I got to lead them back again via different route. I was going to take them over the Crown Range, but due to the rain happening up in the hills and the nature of a winding road, I decided against it as it can get a bit slippery going down the south side when the road is wet.
Chrissie got her vest presented to her before she got married. She is a full member. Neville is a fully fledged supporter as he is only eligible to be that as he has not done time in the military.
The dessert thing is my ‘thing’ and I had done one a bit more elaborate at the Danseys pass run a few months ago, so I toned it down a bit this time and as such there was very little left over.
I am allowed and expected to sew other patches on the vest as I see fit but they will be mainly ones of runs that I do with the Patriot events. I might even take to putting rally patches on it as well to see how long it will take me to cover the vest.
Having joined these guys, I have been able to get in some rallies that help make up for the ones that have been cancelled because of the covid restrictions on large gatherings. Two were cancelled this year and a Christmas Toy Run in Dunedin has become a gathering to drop off toys only on this Sunday, so it will be a day run for us as usual.

CHOPPERS FOREVER—Matt’s crew poured the foundation. Hopefully next week after a couple of light snows we will start on the shop construction. The trusses are supposed to be delivered tomorrow.
I’m looking for Knucklehead shit for my chopper project. The XA frontend arrived today.
We placed our first billboard from Bikers for Truth in Deadwood. Alex Epstein suggested the green subtitle and I went for it.
Our Boulder Canyon digs are built into clay and the cement guys, Matt’s team, didn’t want to get too close and perhaps sink into the mud. So they hired a pump crane to transfer the concrete from the street over the back patio to the foundation area.
In the meantime think of sunny days and riding free.

Okay, so we’ve been brainwashed to wear helmets for the last 40 years. Hell, it’s now cool to wear full-faced helmets, and I tried a couple of times. It’s like the brothers think they look badass in an all-black full-face job, or they think it separates them from society, like Darth Vador. Whatever, each to his own.
Full face helmets are dangerous. They limit peripheral vision, gives the rider a false sense of protection and puts their spinal cord in serious harms way. Did you know that only about 25 percent of injuries are to the head. Back injuries are much more severe. The best protection a rider can have is the ability and senses used to avoid accidents. Okay, enough of that, let’s party and be cool.
Over the years, there has only been one helmet that worked to allow a rider to look cool and still be agile– the polo helmet, but they weren’t legal. Harley came out with a helmet that tried to do the trick, but was way too mushroom, yet it had DOT approval. We tried some out, but they still didn’t do the trick for us. Wait, the Redhead loves hers and feels it gives her additional protection. There you have it.
Brothers and sisters continued to wear Beanie and Polo helmets, without DOT approval, so you know what that meant. Towns like Huntington Beach profiled and busted riders who wanted to ride to the beach wearing illegal helmets. I’m sure there were other police departments around the country, who used this restrictive maneuver.
This is interesting. I tried to research the history of Polo Helmets for Polo field events on horses. It led me to Equestrian Helmets, but I still couldn’t find the original designer or history.
But generally, these stylish helmets had aerodynamic qualities and a bit of a visor to prevent sun burns to the face. Equestrian helmets have changed some for more safe-guards including face shields and wider brims.

Triumph Collector Stumbles Across Ultimate Collectible, the 1901 Prototype

At the turn of the last century, a time when horse-drawn carriages turned into automobiles and bicycles into motorcycles, most of the companies active back then wanted a piece of the new action, and turned their businesses around to include the production of the new mechanical wonders.
So did a British enterprise that went by the name Triumph Engineering, which used to make bicycles. Which, if you come to think of it, are just like motorcycles, only without engines, hence easy to re-make.
And that’s exactly what Triumph did with one of its bikes, fitting it with a Minerva engine and opening the doors to a history that has spanned so far for 120 years. That production motorized two-wheeler came to be in 1902, but as you can imagine, a prototype had to be made before that. A prototype that, like many others of its kind, was considered lost for a long time, despite rumors surrounding its existence floating around.
Extremely conveniently-timed, the first 1901 Triumph motorcycle prototype just resurfaced, having been uncovered by a collector named Dick Shepherd, and put back into the spotlight by the company itself.
According to the available details, attesting to the motorcycle’s authenticity are the engine number, “consistent with references in Minerva’s engine records of a 1901 first Triumph engagement,” and a “letter from Triumph, dated in 1937, that outlined the bike’s unique origins and provided key details.”
As far as we understand, the bike was uncovered some time ago, as the collector had time to restore it.
“As a lifelong passionate fan of the history and achievements of this incredible British brand, to have discovered this amazing survivor and restored it to the glorious condition it would have been in when it first went on display in 1901, has given me an immense amount of satisfaction,” Shepherd said in a statement.
The prototype will be, of course, included in the celebration events the British company has planned for next year, and it will be shown, together with the millionth Triumph manufactured in Hinckley, in a special display being set up at the factory.

First unveiled at the UK’s Motorcycle Live show the 1901 prototype will feature in dedicated event at Triumph’s Factory Visitor Experience on the 14th December, where the machine will be ridden in public for the very first time in over 100 years.
This incredible, historic motorcycle will then be on display, alongside the millionth Hinckley Triumph, in a new, specially created 120-year anniversary display, hosted within Triumph’s Factory Visitor Experience.
The Triumph Factory Visitor Experience is free to visit and is located at Triumph’s HQ in Hinckley, England and is open daily Wednesday through Sunday, from 10am – 4.30pm.
Suzuki Hayabusa 2022 with “most advanced suite of electronics ever”

The third generation of the now legendary Suzuki Hayabusa came to be in early 2021, meaning it had enough time at its disposal to meet the requirements of its fan base, even the most high-level ones.
Available for purchase for some time now, the once fastest production motorcycle in the world was on the shelves for most of the year in black and orange, and matt silver and red. That despite the fact Suzuki showed a white version of the two-wheeler when it unveiled the new range all those months ago.
Now, starting this week, the Japanese company is unleashing the white version of the model, with a starting price in the UK of £16,499 (which is about $21,900). Customers will get the bike in pearl brilliant white with chrome trim and metallic matt stellar blue accents sprinkled throughout.
There are virtually no other changes to the Hayabusa except for the paint on the body, and that means customers will get all the goodies offered with the rest of the range for almost a year now.
That means a reworked 1,340cc powerplant (it got new pistons, camshaft, crankshaft, and even a new clutch assembly, among others) sitting inside a remade frame. The white streak of awesomeness will be capable of zipping by at speeds of up to 299 kph (186 mph), not because it couldn’t more, but because the bike’s electronics won’t allow it.
Suzuki also boasts about the model having the “most advanced suite of electronics ever,” offering things like multiple lean angle-sensitive traction control modes, ABS, three power modes, cruise control, and a speed limiter, among others. All of these features and more can be controlled by means of a switchgear and can be set up using the TFT display.
The white Hayabusa is already available for purchase.

All this is wrapped in sharper, more angular bodywork that nonetheless is immediately recognisable as Hayabusa, taking heavy design cues from the original.
