I have terrific news for all the guys in the industry. I spoke to two shop owners in the great northwest, up where it rains constantly. When I asked about business they both said business was fine. Check out the Nash Motorcycle, Vancouver, Washington feature on the home page. In the next couple of days I’ll post a feature bike built by Dave Haze of Haze Custom Bikes in Medford, Oregon. And of course Sucker Punch Sally is building more bikes this year than ever before.
You know me. I’ve been researching this downturn in motorcycle sales for the last couple of years and recently I went to the mountain, like Moses. I spoke to the Guru of Speed, the Surgeon of Bike Shows, N.R. “You are blessed my son to be in my presence, for you have sinned more than any other man, and I should fry you to warm ashes and scatter you to the seas.”
“I know all about that,” I spat back. “Gimme the skinny on the biking world.”
“You have but 18 months and the chopper industry will fly like never before,” His voice boomed over the valley. “Gotta get through this election.”
I bowed honorably, dropped a five-spot in his tip jar, jumped on my Sturgis Shovel and peeled down the towering Alps. There you have it. Let’s hit the news.

Over 1700 people gathered at the world-class museum for the 5th Annual Wheels Through Time Raffle. Each year, the museum raises funds by raffling off a motorcycle built at Wheels Through Time. Past winners have come from as far away as Texas and Illinois, and as close as Gatlinburg, TN. This year’s Grand Prize was a fully restored 1936 Harley-Davidson VLH brought back to life by museum curator and founder, Dale Walksler. The raffle drawing is traditionally held at the conclusion of the Motorcycle Parade and Toy Run at the Wheels Through Time Museum. Over 1500 people were on hand, hoping that their name would be called. With only one winner to be picked, the eager crowd awaited anxiously until the ticket was drawn. The lucky winner was Ginette Bailey, of Oxford, Massachusetts. Although Ginette was not present for the drawing, her enthusiasm was felt by onlookers, as the phone call was broadcast over the loudspeaker. “This is so amazing?.I’ve never won anything in my life,” shouted Bailey. Ginette visited Wheels Through Time on August 30th, 2007, after learning about the museum online. Both her and her husband were visiting the Smoky Mountains on what they called “the ride of their lives”, and made the museum a top priority on their list of things to do. “The museum was spectacular! I was particularly impressed with the new Women In Motorcycling exhibit,” said Bailey. “That’s were I spent most of my time.” After a great tour, Ginette decided to take a chance on the beautiful red and black Harley-Davidson raffle bike in museum foyer. She decided to buy one ticket, and after almost 3 months, that decision would prove to be one she wouldn’t regret. Ginette is a member of the Chrome Sisters, a Massachusetts-based women’s motorcycle association that was founded three years ago. Bailey was integral in the formation of the group, which now boasts over 30 members from Massachusetts and surrounding states. The Chrome Sisters’ mission is to unite all women motorcycle enthusiasts for recreation, education, mutual support, and recognition, and to promote a positive overall image of motorcycling. For more information on the Chrome Sisters, visit their website, located at Congratulations, Ginette, and Happy Riding! I remember many years back there was a build in I think it was Chopper magazine where they did a very similar bike. They had a photo of a big old boy holding the bike in his arms like it was a baby or maybe a prized shotgun. I don’t think they ever finished the series. Couldn’t keep the bottom end together. I think it was about 1969 are so. Cool idea though and the Time Bomb looks to be screwed together a little better. Keep up the good work, That bike was built by the mastermind behind Custom Cycle Engineering, Randy Smith. We dug up the shot and added it to the story. CCE is still cranking out all of Randy’s parts except for his sprung up, like old Triumphs. I’m still waiting.–Wrench TOP 100 RALLY MAP– We make a motorcycle map featuring the “Top 100 Motorcycle Rallies” in the nation and have listed your rally for free in the past. BIKERNET ROAD RACING CORRESPONDENT INTERVIEWS DAVID ALDANA– I had the honor of meeting AMA Hall Of Famer David Aldana Monday night. He was the guest speaker at our Atlanta Norton Club meeting.
What a great guy. And quite a racing resume. Although most may remember him for his appearances in the classic motorcycle film “On Any Sunday”. David was the kid, #13, flat track BSA..but I most remember him for the scene where he is driving the white van, literally hanging out the open drivers door, over the hood, waving to the camera on the opposite side of the road.oh, yeah, with the cop car behind him!!!….Bbaaawwww!! Lights on I believe!
I asked him if he got a ticket..he said, “NO!…it was funny, when I realized what had happened and pulled over, they drove right past me! They must have been headed to another call or something”.Jeez, but it sure did look good on film! I also believe that was him in the closing scenes with Steve McQueen and Malcolm riding on the beach.
Our Club President David Brock noticed him while working corners for the AHRMA Motocross races at the Barber Vintage Festival. Mr. Aldana lives in the Atlanta area now, and agreed to attend. He is now a member and we hope to see more of him.
His racing resume is as follows: AMA Hall Of Famer, AMA Superbike Daytona Winner, 4 AMA Grand Natl Dirt Track wins, Pro Factory rider for BSA, Suzuki, Kawasaki (Eddie Lawson teammate), and Honda…World Renouned Endurance racer including 8 Hr Suzuka Winner, 24 hr Le man, and WERA NATL ENDURANCE CHAMPION
I got this shot of the web.his famous “Skeleton Leathers”.

MRSA KILLS 1 IN 20 HOSPITAL PATIENTS WHO HAVE THE INFECTION–One of every 20 (or 5 percent) of the roughly 368,600 patients treated in U.S. hospitals in 2005 for Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, died, according to the latest News and Numbers from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Most of the patients who died of this highly dangerous antibiotic resistant staph infection were elderly or low income. The death rate for hospitalized MRSA patients was higher than the 4 percent death rate for hospitalized tuberculosis patients, another potentially deadly illness.
AHRQ also found that:
Approximately 332 Medicare patients per 100,000 were hospitalized for MRSA compared to 184 Medicaid patients and 29 patients with private insurance. The rate for uninsured patients was 43 admissions per 100,000 people.
Men were more likely to be hospitalized for MRSA (107 admissions per 100,000) than were women (92 admissions).
People in the South were 27 percent more likely (113 admissions per 100,000) to be hospitalized for MRSA than those in the Northeast and Midwest (89 admissions per 100,000 population). People in the West fell in between (96 admissions per 100,000).
This AHRQ News & Numbers summary is based on data in Infections with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) in U.S. Hospitals, 1993-2005, Statistical Brief No. 35. The report uses statistics from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample, a database of hospital inpatient stays that is nationally representative of inpatient stays in all short-term, non-Federal hospitals. The data are drawn from hospitals that comprise 90 percent of all discharges in the United States and include all patients, regardless of insurance type, as well as the uninsured.

HINES COMES UP SHORT IN BID FOR RECORD-BREAKING FOURTH NHRA CHAMPIONSHIP–POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2007) – Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Motorsports rider Andrew Hines came up short in his bid for a record-breaking fourth NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle championship Sunday at the Auto Club NHRA Finals.
Hines lost in the second round at the Auto Club Raceway, opening the door for Matt Smith to win the race and the 2007 Pro Stock Motorcycle championship.
Hines beat Shawn Gann and the Rae Girl Suzuki team in the opening round before losing to Antron Brown and the U.S. Army team in the second round. Hines fouled at the starting line, giving the race to Brown.
Hines went into the Pomona event as the category points leader and three-time defending champion. He was aiming to become the first rider in NHRA history to win four consecutive titles.
“I’m extremely disappointed,” Hines said. “This is very tough to swallow. I had the championship at my fingertips and I let it slip away. The whole day went through my head once I saw the win-light flashing in the other lane. I had seven seconds to think about the worst possible scenarios and those fears came true.
“Matt Smith and the entire Torco Racing team provided some great competition this season and they absolutely deserved to be in the championship chase. I just wish it had gone our way, but they worked very hard to earn the title this season.”
Screamin’ Eagle teammate Eddie Krawiec beat Matt Guidera and the Mohegan Sun Buell squad in the first round before losing to Chip Ellis and the Drag Specialties Buell team in the second round.
“I was very excited going into Sunday’s elimination rounds,” Krawiec said. “We had such an awesome bike and things were going very well. I thought we ran well all weekend and it was made even better by being the first rider ever to run a 6.99-pass at Pomona.
“Drew and I had the two quickest ETs of the first round and we were ready to go after the second round wins. It just didn’t work out that way. I made a mistake and my hand got stuck underneath the clutch lever and I suffered the loss because of it. I learned a valuable lesson and I know that won’t ever happen again.”
Hines qualified in the No. 1 position for the 21st time in his career with a track record ET of 6.956 seconds at 192.22 mph. Krawiec qualified in the No. 6 spot with a 6.972 at 189.90.
This was the first trip to Pomona for Krawiec.
“It was great to finally get to race at Pomona and also have some passes in the 6-second range too,” Krawiec said. “It would have been a nice way to end the season with a trip to the final round but I’m still proud of the way the bikes ran.”
Harley-Davidson Racing Manager Anne Paluso said the team overcame many challenges just to be in the hunt for another championship.
“I think it’s incredible that the team has been so competitive for so many years,” Paluso said. “We had a lot of things go our way last year in order to clinch a third consecutive title and this year we just came up a little short. Matt Smith and his team were competitive all year and they put themselves in the perfect position to take advantage of our second round losses. “I still can’t say enough about the way our team and riders performed this weekend and all season. They are disappointed now but someday they will be able to look back and see what great things were accomplished this season.” While the team fell short of their winning goals, Krawiec said the event was still exciting.
“I was completely in awe at how many people were there all weekend,” Krawiec said. “The place was packed and you could feel the energy from the crowd. We had great support and the morale was good all weekend. It really helped our confidence going into eliminations and in general made the weekend more fun.”
Hines is already focused on what he can do to prepare for 2008.

MAYOR’S RIDE DONATES $30,000 TO STURGIS FIRE DEPARTMENT– STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Rally Department is pleased to announce that the 5th Annual Sturgis Mayor’s Ride, held Monday, August 6th during the 2007 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, raised $30,000 for the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department.
The Mayor’s Ride was created to be a funding source for the Sturgis Fire Department, a volunteer organization which plays a vital role in the Rally by not only keeping fire emergencies under control but also responding to accident scenes and other medical emergencies.
2007 Mayor’s Ride participants were joined by South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds, several state legislators, Sturgis Mayor Maury LaRue and local city council members on an escorted ride through some of the Black Hill’s most spectacular scenery on two lane roads. The group was welcomed by Superintendent of Parks, Gerard Baker, at Mount Rushmore, where they were treated to a private cultural performance and ended the afternoon at a sponsored lunch at Custer State Park Game Lodge.
“The Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department would like to again thank the Mayor and the Mayor’s Ride participants for the continued support,” said Fire Chief Ron Koan. “The funds generated annually from the Mayor’s Ride allows the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department to purchase equipment and provide professional volunteer firefighting services, which otherwise would be funded by taxpayers dollars. Because of events such as the Mayor’s Ride and other department sanctioned fund raising efforts, the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department and the City of Sturgis, have been able to hold the actual tax based cost of fire protection in our community to less than $22.00 per resident annually.
“This is just another way that the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally benefits the community, stated Mayor LaRue. “We ask a great deal of our volunteer firefighters year round, but especially during the Rally and the weeks leading up to it. With the help of our sponsors and the generosity of the people who participated in the Mayor’s Ride this year, we were able to once again give the fire department much needed funding.”
The 5th Annual Mayor’s Ride was supported by presenting sponsor, Jack Daniel’s, with additional sponsorship support from Ford Motor Company – Built Ford Tough, Black Hills Harley-Davidson, the NBS Group, Black Hills Power, Budweiser, Alltel Wireless, Coca-Cola, Wild Hogs on DVD, Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building, South Dakota Pork Producers – Pork the Other White Meat, Pierce/Medtec and PrairieWave Communications.
“It’s very gratifying for our sponsors to know that in a very key way, their support of the Mayor’s Ride provided such significant benefit to an organization that is so vital to this community,” said Sturgis Motorcycle Rally sponsorship agent, Ronda Gusinsky. “The Mayor’s Ride is a great event in and of itself, but it’s really a great feeling to know that due to these companies and the riders participating in the ride, over $30,000 was raised collectively through their various efforts to support the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department,” Gusinsky continued.
The 6th Annual Mayor’s Ride will be held on Monday, August 4th, 2008. Riders interested in participating can contact the Sturgis Rally Department at 605.720.0800, log onto the Sturgis Rally website

HOUSE OF HARLEY 105 CELEBRATION PLANS–I was at a meeting last night at House of Harley in Milwaukee to plan some events for the Harley 105th anniversary celebration. “House” plans to have a theme each day of the event. On the first day (Aug. 27th) the theme will be Honoring Police Officers. 2nd day (Aug. 28th) will be honoring Military and Firefighters. The 3rd day (Aug. 29th) will be honoring Women. On this day they will feature Laura Klock, the fastest woman on a bagger.

Our second round to Bonneville led to another record in SCTA ranks for Laura and WFB! She was able to do 10 runs over the 141 mark and finally ended with a 146.279 record for the day going into a 10 mph headwind. You know firsthand what that can be like. The Windshield really works! The infamous bagger wobble wasn’t prevalent at all this round, we have a patent pending on the windshield and its time to sell to everyone. The 8″ version works well for a solo rider. The 12″ version works better in a constant passenger, rider situation. Let me know if you are doing any Road Glide stuff as we are very excited to let you try it out! We now have the 180 Tire Kits for Baggers, a complete offering of new front fenders (NO Bondo required- our stampings are that good!), and of course the Double Back headers. Bagger mania is running rampant in the frozen tundra of South Dakota! The Flare Windshields are available through us direct at www.kustombaggers.com or any Drag Specialties dealer. Retail on all sizes and style is $169.95. The bike looks GREAT on the cover of Cycle Source this month, Congrats again to your whole team! –Brian and Laura Klock THE CONDER SAGA–Yesterday I flipped a quarter to see which car to get running…Now, don’t go blabbing to everybody, chances are I’ll run out of money again… Come to think of it, I don’t have any to START with! Here’s how it went…and yes, everything is still for sale AT WHAT IT’S WORTH. Beautiful northern California day…drove down 116 to Sebastipol with this thing hangin’ out the back. …like a GLOVE. My front porch. The other car. …I could swear my porch is starting to lean a bit…must be the camera angle. Pulled ‘er outside, oiled the frame and got everything ready to travel… For the first time in a long time, I flipped a quarter to see which car to finish…It was SATAN. That’s the ONLY TIMEit’s ever been “tails”. Afterward, when we looked at the quarter, it was minted in 2000, which was the year we went toBakersfield and started ATF. I’m scared to DEATH at the thought of driving the car…that’s GOOD I think…maybe it proves I’m still sane! – Fuelers Forever, THE BAG DADDY FROM THE MARTIN BROS–The Bag Daddy , Martin Bros Bikes is Released an all new Bagger Piece , It has back from the dyno with 10.2 HP gain and 9 Ftlbs of torque. Using my Image Fusion technique my goal is to create a portrait of each craftsmen combining a piece of who they are via their unique work.” Topping the list is Jerry Covington of Covington’s Customs. “Jerry has such a unique style for each of his creations, you can see his creative thought in each bike he builds.” Sara states. Hey,
Yep, it’s California Bike Week beginning right fuckin’ now in Los Angeles, in fact I rang the bell to start your engines, I think, or did I dream that? It’s mostly happening in Pomona at the fairgrounds, but parties are popping up in Beverly Hills, Universal City Walk, on Wilshire at the Peterson Museum and at Glendale H-D.
I remember the old days, partners flying out from all over the country for Love Ride Parties. We split lanes across Hollywood freeways from one party to the next until out of towners were scared shitless and girls were passing out. What’s a few thousand bumpers at 100 mph?
Just returned from the Sucker Punch Sally New Model Launch in Arizona. This group has hit the nail on the head, and you’ll see all the new models in the next couple of weeks. Journalists were on hand from most of the country’s mags including American Iron, The Horse, Cycle Source, Dealer News, American Dealer News, Motorcyclists and Thunder Press. Oops, I missed Courtney and his English partner from Hot Bike and Street Choppers. We had a helluva time riding the various models, playing horseshoes in the dirt, Titty Bars and warm sunlit roads in the desert. Can’t beat a light agile rigid that respects the traditions of the first choppers.
More on the ride and Knockout Motorcycles at the end. The reports are in and confirmed. The industry is coming back. We’ve seen what folks call a cleansing of our niche industry in the grand scheme of American Society. The tide has now turned. Business is picking up. Events are even feeling the buzz. Let’s rock and ride. No one will ever stop us from building choppers or riding like maniacs across the desert. Let’s hit the news:
SUCKER PUNCH NEW DEALER AT MICHAELS MOTORCYCLE WORKS–We have recently signed on with SuckerPunch Sally’s and will be having an Open House January 12, 2008 when our first eight bikes are delivered. We are also having a Grand Opening April 5 with a ride April 6. We would love to have you here for one of these, especially since you were at my first Grand Opening in the ’70s!
We are also working on a logo for a rally here in Woodland Park, CO honoring the military in August 2008. Could you help with some artwork for the logo?

BIGTWIN BIKESHOW, NETHERLANDS READY TO ROCK– Bigtwin Bikeshow, Netherlands gearing up for biggest yetNEXT weekend will see the 16th annual Bigtwin Show (formerly known as Motorsale) open its doors on Friday November 9th for three days packed with custom action for consumers in The Netherlands and beyond.
The event, held at the AutoTron facility at Rosmalen, near Eindhoven, has long been one of the most popular custom events in Europe, and is regularly supported by an exhibitor community that includes custom shops and bike builders from the domestic Dutch market and elsewhere in Northern Europe, along with most of Europe’s distribution majors.
Indeed, for several years now the event has hosted Zodiac International’s annual dealer show, with many of Zodiac’s American (such as S&S Cycle) and other international vendors taking part in support of their product lines.
This year also sees the event becoming an Official World Championship Affiliate for the first time, which means that in addition to generous cash and parts prizes donated by bike show sponsor Zodiac and selected of their vendors (Snap On and Harrison Billet Brakes among them), sponsoring Dutch custom bike magazine Bigtwin will send the Best In Show winner to compete against the world’s finest builders at the 5th annual Official World Championship at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally next summer.
Last entries for bikes are now being taken, and all enquiries can be directed to Margot Gerritsen …

DEFENDING AMERICA ‘S HONOR–When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.He answered by saying, ‘Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return. It became very quiet in the room. Then there was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break one of the French engineers came back into the room saying ‘Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?’
A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: ‘Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck.. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?’
Once again, dead silence.

S&S ANNOUNCES MATT SMITH WINS POMONA NHRA AND CHAMPIONSHIP– LA CROSSE, WI (November 8, 2007) S&S? Cycle announces Matt Smith on his Torco Racing Fuels Buell?, powered by an S&S 160ci Billet Pro Stock engine, has won the number one plate in NHRA POWERade Championship Pro Stock Motorcycle Drag Racing during the Pomona, California event.
In the season-ending race, the title was down to the wire. Of the four eligible riders to carry the number one plate home, Chip Ellis, Peggy Llewellyn and Matt Smith were riding S&S 160ci Pro Stock powered bikes, with Andrew Hines on his Harley rounding out the four.
“This season was a huge success for S&S, G2, and all the S&S-powered Buells,” said S&S President, Brett Smith. “A few years ago, the board felt we should immediately begin competing at the highest level in drag racing. In fairly short order, S&S power was able to bring home a championship!” Smith went on to say, “I cannot thank Matt Smith-the newest POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion, Chip Ellis, Peggy Llewellyn, Matt Guidera, Hector Arana, Chris Rivas, Junior Pippin, Tom Bradford, Michael Ray and the teams for their support of S&S and our race products. I would like to extend a special thanks to G2 for all the hard work they have put into not only their own Drag Specialties team with Chip Ellis, but all the teams fielding our engines. Without G2, none of this would have been possible. My hat is off to George and Jackie Bryce, Ken Johnson, Derek Churchwell, Ruth Olson and the entire G2 organization. But I have special thanks for my dad, George Smith whose vision, personal commitment and sacrifice made this such a success for S&S and all of our S&S-powered teams!”
The weekend was exciting with Ellis, Smith and Llewellyn winning races throughout the qualifying rounds. Hines tripped a red light in the second round of eliminations, sending Ellis and Smith to round three, each against US Army Suzuki riders. Both Ellis and Smith won, eliminating Hines from the championship and assuring an S&S powered rider taking the number one plate.
“Matt Smith has proven to be one heck of a racer,” said George Smith. “He’s cutting good lights and he’s figured out how to get away from the starting line better than anyone else, and that’s how drag races are won. He proved that again this weekend, even though we were making more power with Chip’s bike, as shown by our back half and trap speeds. My hat’s off to him. Congratulations to him and his team for a job well done.”
“Seven bikes in the Pomona field of 16 were S&S 160ci Pro Stock-powered Buells. And the good news is that in addition to our team and the new national champion, Hector ‘The Hammer’ Arana, Matt Guidera, Peggy Llewellyn and Chris Rivas all had great seasons on S&S-powered Buells,” noted George Smith. “The S&S-powered Buell program distributed exclusively by G2, is alive and well.”
When the lights went green, Smith ended up winning with a 6.944 at 191.08mph to the 6.957 at 192.17mph Ellis ran.
Congratulations to Matt Smith on taking the number one plate, Chip Ellis on coming in at number three in the season and Peggy Llewellyn for scoring enough points for fourth in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Racing. Be sure to look up the 2008 schedule and plan to get as many events as possible on your calendar now.

VICTORY KINGPIN BECOMES BAGGER–Six months ago we were delivered a stock 2006 black Victory Kingpin. It had maybe a few aftermarket bolt-on parts, but nothing to speak of for customization. The customer, a good friend, asked for a bike that would turn heads so we set forth on the KingPin face lift.
We sat down for a few hours and drew up the beginning plans for the Kingpin. Rod’s main objective and our biggest challenge was to have hard bags installed and to give it a low, fat look without losing the ability to ride a passenger.
The shop had to fabricate a mounting system that would be hidden by the bags and be strong enough to hold the bags and contents to the Kingpin huge rear fender.
Rod purchased a set of hard bags off a 2004 H-D that had been wrecked. The bags were torn up from the accident, but intact, and with all the hardware included for a $250.00 price tag, they were well worth repairing.
Rod also decided my idea to build a duel exhaust for the bike was what it really needed. I still wanted to take into account Rod’s desire to get the low rider look and to try and get the fat wide appearance from the back, so we designed and fabe’d out two 2″ exhaust pipes dumping out into 7.5″ x 2″ oval exhaust cans under the bags. We decided after our first trial run with the new pipes that the sound was too much; nice, but to much. So 2″x6″ baffles were installed to give it a nice roar and to, hopefully, keep Rod from receiving tickets everywhere he went in Denver. Of course we all have read of Denver’s new noise ordinances.
I went to work stripping down the KingPin to a motor and frame. We called up our friends at Meclec metal finishing in California and made an appointment for them to do their magic. Rod wanted Black Nickel and they were very helpful and got us right in. While the parts were away I went to work on shaving the rear fender and installing a recessed license plate holder with LED lighting. I repaired the bags and installed LED blinkers in the lids, white LED’s inside the bags (for those dark nights when you need a little light), and then of course the paint.
For the paint I started with black base coat and after a few hours of good set up time started the air brushing of the lightning and masking of 4 different colors of layered pearl ghost flames. Hours, I tell ya. Hours and hours of masking (did I say hours?)?. and then on went 4 coats of urethane clear, a little extra to give me some wet sanding and buffing ability. After the painted parts and the black nickel parts were installed, all we were going to need was a hot chick in a hot black outfit for some pic’s and the bike was out of surgery. We think the bike recovered well.

SUCKER PUNCH SALLY’S HONORS ARMY COMBAT VETERAN WITH CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE AT BIKETOBERFEST 2007–SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ – October 31, 2007 – Christian Clayton of Sucker Punch Sally’s presented Army Combat Veteran Joe White with a custom motorcycle at The Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse on Main Street in Daytona Beach, Florida, Saturday, Oct 20th. The bike was the culmination of eight months of hard work by Joe’s brother Johnny, a Bikernet writer. Johnny wanted to honor his brother for his service to the U.S. with a motorcycle and had originally planned on restoring a Sportster. A number of events happened and Johnny, with the help of
Johnny had purchased an 80″ evo motor and got a belt drive from BDL. J&P Cycle graciously supplied the transmission and Custom Chrome supplied a lot of essentials to get the final assembly done. Fabricator Kevin supplied a taillight at a good cost, and GP Leather sent a custom tooled leather seat. Christian Dotson of Dotson Design was enlisted to get a rendering of the bike done and Custom Design Studio did the paint.
Bikernet was an integral part of the build by providing readers with updates and also by supplying a wide-glide front-end. Initially Johnny was going to do all the assembly and fabrication, but just a few weeks into the build realized he would need some professional help. Johnny went to Kent Weeks of Lucky Devil Cycles in Houston and Kent was glad to help. Kent supplied numerous parts and helped with mock up, final assembly and painted the frames.
Sucker Punch picked up the bike in Houston and brought it to Daytona for the surprise presentation. Sucker Punch picked the Seminole Hard Rock Roadhouse on Main Street to partner with because there was always a crowd and they wanted to honor veterans. The presentation, although not a total surprise to Joe, went off without a hitch. He thought he was getting a partially built bike, so when he saw it was complete and ran, he was ecstatic. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
“Sucker Punch Sally’s has always supported the troops so when we were given this opportunity we jumped on it. It is great to see good hearted people like the White brothers and having finally met them I couldn’t think of a better guy to get it,” said Christian Clayton.
Sucker Punch Sally’s is a production motorcycle manufacturer specializing in old school, stripped-down motorcycles that are priced for the working man, starting at just $19,995. SPS was established in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2002, and in 2007 moved their manufacturing facility to Arizona to better service their customers. They now have eleven dealers across the United States where you can go to find a reasonably priced old school chopper or bobber. SPS attends at least six major motorcycle events each year, and their bikes have been featured in The Horse Backstreet Choppers, Easyriders, Street Chopper, V-Twin, Barnett’s, Sync Magazine, Ironworks, Cyclesource and Hot Bike.

FIRST AND AMAZING MOTORCYCLE RUN FROM PUERTO RICO TO HAITI–We left San Juan yesterday afternoon, over a dooming downpour, I mean, heavy-duty tropical rain. Our direction pointed us towards the West side of the island, and the ferry that would take us over the Dominican Republic. The 100 mile trip was not exactly a brochure paradise deal, but we made it.Once we loaded the bikes and ourselves into the ferry, we ended up at the buffet style restaurant, tired and hungry. I tell you, the 14 bucks per plate, was well worth it by the time we finished… We met a group from various points in Puerto Rico who belonged to the Urban Rescue unit. They were heading over to DR, to help the people of Bonao bring medicines, clothing, food and their expertise, after the massive flooding that TS Noel delivered. We all ended hanging out at the various bars and clubs aboard the ferry, harrassing the girls, joking, just having fun and watching time go by. Early this morning (Nov 8th) the ferry finally docked and we were the first ones to haul vehicles out (the bikes); The whole procedure was described as dreaded, time and time again, ended up being a breeze. At the customs exit we were met by our friend Vital and Jungi. We promptly became part of the anarchic driving typical of this place. The early morning ride thru the Malecon (the road fronting the ocean) was exciting, since you are riding in a different place and country, plus the avoidance of every single kind of vehicle that seems to be on the road to target us, normal chaos… which I love. Tomorrow morning we are heading over to Port Au Prince in Haiti, it’s a 7 hour trip, which I know for certain will be overflowed with tales and adventure. Meanwhile, tonight, we are meeting at the Nativos clubhouse and after we will be touring the local bars and night spots for certain mayhem. I will try to report again tonight, or at least tomorrow when we finally make it to Haiti. –Jose de Miguel LONESTAR RALLY SUCCESS AT EVERY LEVEL–The City claimed near 500,000.The place was packed. In my opinion this is one of the top three events in the country. It deserves to be on the must do rally list. I did not see a single bike pulled over by the cops. No unnecessary arrest. No BS by the City.Open containers okay.Body painting okay. Zero Tolerance for burn outs and wheelie’s (fine with me I am tired of smelling burnt rubber from burnouts they never impressed me) It really was a fun event in a great city. –John Green THAT’S IT FOR PRE LOVE RIDE ACTION–After all the action with the Sucker Punch Gang I rolled over to Knockout to see Captain Ralph and attend the first ever viewing of WarBird, a television production of Ralph Randolph and the Knockout Team building a bike to support the Commemorative Air Force. The show was cool and is due to be aired on a cable channel network in early ’08. They took a bone stock H-D Softail and build a sweet rendition of a P-51 Mustang fighter. The bike is destined to be raffled off to support the Commenorative Air Force and displayed at six air shows and the Reno Air Races in addition numerous motorcycle events. The knockout team plans to build a series of bike renditions of historic fighters like the B-17. Bikernet and Hot Bike Magazine are both supporting his efforts. The bike will be featured on the cover of Hot Bike Shortly. Watch for it. We are also working with True Track on two tech and modifications to the True-Track technology for ’07 and ’08 Dyna Glide models. Watch for the techs in the next couple of weeks. I currently have three maybe four green feature bikes to publish. I don’t know if I’m headed into a stretch of bad luck, too much Sushi wasabe, St. Patrick’s Days blues, pre-Christmas season mistletoe or a case of Yaegar Mister. You be the judge when you see the bikes. Saints MC rolled in for Lunch. Three members of the Saints, including the Prez, my son, rode to the Bikernet Headquarters and kidnapped me for a late chow. My son rides a modified hot rod Dyna, one brother straddled a blacked out, late model FLH and the other patch holder, Nick was riding a Saxon Black Crown. We almost rode up to LA ChopRods, but ran outta time. For the first time my kick-only Shovel was hard to start. Goddamnit. Have a helluva weekend, –Bandit Go Back To Page 2 Or To Page 1

NORTH AMERICA’S LEADING CLASSIC CAR AUCTION HOUSE CONQUERS BRITAIN WITH RECORD $38 MILLION UK SALE– RM Auctions in association with Sotheby’s broke records in their inaugural London sale. 85 cars were sold in London’s Battersea Park in an exciting seven-hour auction, including a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster from the Bernie Ecclestone collection, which at $8.25 million, became the most expensive Mercedes-Benz road-going car ever sold at auction.
London, England (November 1, 2007) – More than 85 outstanding cars were offered for sale last night in Battersea Park in a headline-grabbing extravaganza visited by many of the world’s most important car collectors and celebrities – a fitting start for RM Auctions’ first sale in the British capital. RM Auctions European Managing Director, Max Girardo said: “After our highly successful Ferrari sale in Maranello in May of this year, we are now in London where some of the most expensive cars in the world are bought and sold and where collectors and enthusiasts define the pulse of the European classic car world.”
RM Auctions kicked off their first London sale with a “Roaring Twenties” preview party attended by more than 1,000 VIP guests, a large number of whom turned out in top-hats and tails, whilst the ladies sported beads, flapper dresses and feathers befitting of the elegant, glamorous and stylish theme.
The star of the auction was undoubtedly the 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster from the Bernie Ecclestone collection, which was raised 15 feet in the air to dramatic music, and finally coming to rest above the auctioneer. Following a fierce round of bidding in a room stunned into absolute silence, the bidding stopped at a staggering $8.25 million.
An astounding and unprecedented 800 bidders from all over the world filled the Battersea Evolution centre for RM’s first London auction. Next to the 540K Special Roadster, the Mercedes-Benz SSK comfortably broke the magic million achieving $2.5 million when auctioneer Peter Bainbridge called the magic words “for the first time, for the second time, sold!”
From the Abba Kogan collection, the 1931 REO Racing Car, raced extensively in Argentina in the 1930s by local hero Ernesto Blanco, fueled a frenzy of telephone bidding from Argentina which only ended when the original estimate was doubled to $929,473. George Harrison’s star attraction, the silver 1964 Aston Martin DB5 sold for an excellent $464,736.
The ultra low 1966 Ford GT40, achieved a high bid of $2,044,842 while the fabulous BMW 507 Roadster, one of less than 260 ever produced, brought an impressive $894,618.
But not all cars on offer the crisp London evening required a large bank account. The first entry of the day, a 1964 Ford Anglia Deluxe Saloon, was bought for $11,618. Acquired in the 1990s by Formula 1 impresario Bernie Ecclestone, this car may well be – next to Harry Potter’s similar transport in “The Chamber of Secrets” – the second most famous Ford Anglia in existence, and with provenance from its famous recent owner, might even become more valuable over time.
By the close of the evening, RM Auctions’ co-founder Rob Myers said: “We are thrilled with this most satisfying start of our new European business here in London.
RM Auctions is now already looking ahead to its next European auction, returning to the home of Ferrari in Maranello, Italy on May 18, 2008. Guests and bidders in London were allowed a glimpse of what RM is offering next year. The star of the forthcoming May sale is a rare and ultra-desirable Ferrari 250GT California Spyder, one of the most valuable of all road-going Ferraris. One of less than 100 California Spyders produced between 1957 and 1962 in a variety of specifications, this LWB covered headlamp version is estimated at $4,300,000 – $5,700,000.
PRODUCTION OF 1125R LAUNCHES NEW ERA OF BUELL SPORTBIKES– EAST TROY, Wis. (November 1, 2007) – The Buell Motorcycle Company celebrated a major milestone this week as it started up a new age of sportbikes with the production of the first Buell 1125R motorcycle at its factory in East Troy, Wis.
Turning a new corner into the superbike category, the all-new Buell 1125R delivers a true balance of street and track performance. Designed with a passion for the elements that have defined Buell motorcycles for 25 years, the 1125R offers power, handling and agility that will take riders to a new level of sportbike riding. The 1125R joins the XB and Blast as a third Buell motorcycle platform. The first 1125R motorcycles are expected to arrive at U.S. Buell dealers in November. The serial number one Buell 1125R will become part of Buell’s history, saved for the Harley-Davidson Museum, which opens in 2008.
“Seeing the first 1125R come off the line marks the start of a significant new era for everyone at Buell,” said Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer at Buell Motorcycle Company. “The 1125R is designed and built from the rider down to take Buell to a new performance level. As we look forward, we will continue to embrace and enhance our fundamental vision of motorcycle design that offers the ultimate riding experience.”
The Buell 1125R experience begins with power, and adds an artful combination of engine performance, precise-and-agile handling, advanced aerodynamics, and superior rider environment and control. Packaged with distinctive styling that leaves many mechanical components exposed, the 1125R leads with an all-new front fairing and radiator cowling which provides superior aerodynamics, rider comfort and efficient air flow. The 1125R delivers race-inspired agility and handling, while holding to the three principles of the Buell Trilogy of Technology – chassis rigidity, low unsprung weight and mass centralization.
The Buell 1125R Helicon engine is a new 1125cc DOHC V-Twin, the first liquid-cooled engine to power a street-legal Buell motorcycle. The Helicon engine is rated at 146 crankshaft horsepower, and is designed to deliver optimized usable power. Its V-Twin design retains the styling and character that has always defined the Buell riding experience.
Buell will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in 2008 with special motorcycle badging, as well as a variety of events July 2-6, 2008 in Wisconsin. (see www.buell.com for more details)

BIKERNET HOT BIKE BAGGER AND MIKE COLE BAGGER BUILD TO BE COVERED ON BIKERNET– Here we go; the frame is a Rolling Thunder-4″out, 6″up w/curved legs, 40 deg. rake, front 10″ over Rolling Thunder Springer, Avon Tires, Renegade wheels, Chrome Tahoe, also the rotors, and belt pulley.
The handlebars are also Rolling Thunder, w/integral gauge cups, and Dakota Digital gauges. The hand and foot controls were supplied by JayBrake with a juice clutch master cyl. and the switch housings included also. It has Bert Baker’s DD-6 tranny, Cycle Electric charging system, and I’ll use Grandeur Cycles lock-up clutch. A TP Engines 121 show polished powerplant is on the way.
Supertrapp is going to custom bend the exhaust system when the time is right. The battery and rear fender came from Aaron at Big Boar. The gas tank, side covers, front fender, and bags are being made by Mike Cole. House of Kolor is behind all the paint, primer and sparkle to make this baby shine.
I’m trying to get in touch with Danny Gray to do the seat, as he has done my seats for many years. The jury is still out on the brakes. I have talked to 360 Brakes about this project, but at this time, we’re still lookin for an answer from them. I’ll also do the paint (Candy Red) and graphics. This is a short rendition. Hang on for techs and weekly reports.
BREAK OUT THE CAPTAIN MORGAN–Ever since I returned from the islands I drink Captain Morgan Rum or any exotic spiced rum I can get my hands on. It keeps me in the mood for tropical sex and rides along the coast. There’s colorful paper umbrellas all over the goddamn place.
My 85-year-old Ma is headed on, maybe, her last major trip and she’s pissed. She’s spending three weeks in India. Alison, 5-Ball number four, is currently in Bangalore and reports that it’s a slum, so I got concerned and contacted all the Bikernet Biker Reporters in India. We currently have three young riders in Mumbai and other parts of India, who submit ride stories and fiction. We immediately went on line and checked her accommodations. It’s all 7-Star Hotels and she has an Australian guide.
We’ll let you know how it goes. She’ll be tough to tolerate when she returns. She’s not accustomed to sitting around, knitting. She was in the shop recently and complained about her E-bike, we were trying to sell. “It never got dusty in my garage,” she snapped and I ducked under a welding hood. “Is the battery charged? Don’t let it go down.”
“Good god, Ma,” I snapped back. “I’m trying to build the World’s Fastest Panhead.” Did I really say that? Okay, so here’s a portion of the feature line-up for next week while I fly to Phoenix to ride the new Sucker Punch Sally model for 2008. We’ve got ride tales from India, antique Triumphs from Southern California, True-Track techs for Dyna Glides, lotsa green bikes, and starving GOB from the woods near the Contential Divide, a Helmet fight story, a Tbear feature on a 45 Magnum, with a Sportster top end, and Johnny is working on the Smoke Out coverage while I write the Hawaiian Pro Street Saga. Hang on.
Ride Forever,

BARBER VINTAGE FESTIVAL REPORT COMING– Yo Bandit.hope you are well sir. Take that wreath looking flower thing off your neck, put down the fruity drink and get back to work!!!….Bbbaaawwww!!
I’ve got a story in the works about the Barber Vintage Festival. I have just landed the support of the photographer who takes pics for track owner Mr. Barber. they look sweet!
It was a great time, although I sucked on the track..too many beers Friday and not enough sleep (not bad, just tired). I’m getting too old for that stuff! That, and a somber note on Sunday, has me reflecting upon my actions.
Over 400 vendors, they sold out and this sums up the atmosphere!
Brian Fuller (BBO winner) came over and hung out in our pits, great guy. pic of me on his “Artistry In Iron” bike that thing is a hoot!!! Its an EX 500 like my race bike has my carbs on it.
On a more bitter note.there was a death on Sunday, Mr. Dwaine Williams. He crashed on his Norton in the “Kink” section. I had been standing next to him that very morning in a friend Stan Keyes (Cyco Cycles, Jax, Fl) Pit. Dwaine was a legend, and a mentor to numerous racers, including Stan. He got Stan into racing, and eventually that led to Stans son Derek, AMA Pro, Daytona 200 Veteran, and current Kawasaki Factory test rider becoming involved in racing. There are numerous stories like this about Dwaine, He was 72 yrs young, and still racing.

BIKERNET IMMIGRATION INVESTIGATION–Did you know that 53 percent of all the babies born this year at Dallas Memorial had illegal immigrant mothers. Taxpayers paid for the babies to illegally become citizens.
If an illegal steps up to get a free license in New York shouldn?t they be arrested?they?re illegal. And if they list an employer, shouldn?t he or she be arrested? We?re confused.
BIKERNET DRAG RACING TIDBIT– Don’t know how close you follow the AHDRA and NHRA Harley drags, but new blood is comin to NHRA next year, and could very well be a major thorn in ‘ol Vance & Hines ash. (I hope so)
Junior Pippen with Bob Taft wrench’n just won their 4th straight AHDRA Pro Stock Championship—-and will run the full NHRA circuit next year in Pro Stock.
I know Bob, who owns a neat little H-D go fast shop in Decatur Illinois called “Rats Whole Place”, and obviously, he’s good.
Take care man, and watch out for the idiots.

NEW GUITAR HERO III VIDEO GAME– They just released the New Guitar Hero III video game?so now I can finally talk about it!I’m playing the drums on Mississippi Queen. The drum tracks were cut last spring at Crush Recorders in Scottsdale and several of the tracks on the new Guitar Hero III were produced and performed by my good friend Steve Ouimette.

BETSY SURVIVED EVEREST-AMAZING– For those of you interested in watching me get my ass kicked, physically, spiritually, and otherwise, the series begins Tuesday, October 30th at 10:00 on the Discovery Channel. If you are truly my friend, I had better not hear your laughter from Connecticut! That’s right, I will be watching the airing of the first episode in a cozy retreat on a lake in the hills of Connecticut with Tim Medvetz and Russell Brice, just to name a few. They are flying us out to film 4 more episodes, to be called “After the Climb”. I leave tonight at 4:00 A.M., and feel like I am being sent in to be strapped to the electric chair and interrogated. And if I answer incorrectly, 80 volts of electricity will charge my system. If I live through the week, I look forward to getting back to my normal life as a California biker chick. If you haven’t heard from me in awhile, its because I have been working overtime to catch up, and pay the price for being gone over half of the past year. But I’m almost back to zero! Gosh, it must be time to start planning a trip. Hope everyone is well, and I look forward to getting back to my life and friends. I’m out of cell phone range this week. BANDIT’S STEP-SON DRAWS FIGURE WITH A GUN, THEN DRAWS SCHOOL SUSPENSION– DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. – A second-grader’s drawing of a stick figure shooting a gun earned him a one-day school suspension. Kyle Walker, 7, was suspended for violating Dennis Township Primary School’s zero-tolerance policy on guns, the boy’s mother, Shirley McDevitt, told The Press of Atlantic City. Kyle gave the picture to another child on the school bus, and that child’s parents complained about it to school officials, McDevitt said. Her son told her the drawing was of a water gun, she said. School officials would not comment Friday. –from Tinman DAVID ALLEN COE’S THE RIDE–I represent a Nashville based B.M.I. “million-aires” award winning songwriter biker/singer/songwriter by the name of Gary “Junkyard” Gentry. The Cow Palace was filled with over 100 vendors to make up the largest indoor motorcycle marketplace in Northern California. Pro builders as well as Novice builders entered their best bikes in the Ego Tripp Custom Bike Show. The hundred plus beauties were judged in 17 different categories and the winners received mini replica billet wheel trophies. Corbin seats sponsored the Grand National style flat track racing staged by UMA and featured Mikey Rush the 2007 Daytona winner. The 100,000 plus square feet provides plenty of space for attendees to visit vendors and check out the custom motorcycles. Whether you wanted to rent a bike from Eagle Rider, purchase a new leather jacket or place your order for a new set of Ride Wright Wheels this show had it all. The Corbin main stage was rocking all weekend with the West Coast blues sounds of the MoFo Party Band. Sundays highlight was the BMC Chopper giveaway. We’re from California and make custom footpegs and kicker pedals. The goal of our efforts is to offer the discretionary garage biker accessories that are designed with limited run originality and ready to bolt on capability. No sell out mass produced stuff here. First run has been BMX inspired. Partnered with Primo BMX, a very established and respected bike company, we have designed parts that feature this great brand as a component. Functionality and performance is very important to us. Every part we make will both look badass original but perform better than it’s replaced. The first rally with the new dates was the recently completed 7th Annual Las Vegas BikeFest and the change proved to be a winning roll of the dice. The temperature on opening day was a perfect 85 degrees and then dropped to a very mild 76 degrees for the weekend events. By comparison, two weeks earlier during what had been the traditional rally dates, the temperature in Las Vegas was over 100 degrees. “We spent two years researching the date change and talking with all the event stakeholders – vendors, the bikers, the city fathers, our advisory council – and everyone felt that to grow the event we needed to make the change to milder weather,” commented Harry Schwartz of Full Throttle Events. “Some people felt that changing the dates would be detrimental to the event because of the riding habits of the biker attendees. To ensure that didn’t happen we stepped up our marketing efforts to get the word out about the new dates. It obviously worked.” “This opens up new opportunities for riders at Las Vegas BikeFest,” Schwartz continued. “Las Vegas BikeFest has never been known as a riding event in the past because of the heat. Now, with lower temps there are many day ride opportunities to enjoy in the area, plus the ride to the rally from California and Arizona will be more enjoyable as well. We expect to see a significant increase in attendance when the word gets back about how great the weather was this year.” Las Vegas BikeFest is one of the few motorcycle rallies that verify actual attendance through event registrations and ticket sales statistics. After completing the post-event audit, the attendance was announced at 34,408. “There’s no guess work here,” continued Schwartz. “We know exactly how many people come to the event and are proud that we promote a true attendance figure. Police department representatives told us they estimated attendance at 50-60,000. We could have used that figure in our promotion, but we think it does a disservice to the vendors and industry to make astronomical attendance claims.” “We’re not afraid to admit that attendance was down only 2% or 703 bikers in comparison to last year. Frankly we see that as a growth trend considering all of the other rallies across the nation both small and large have experienced attendance drop-off of 15 – 50% for two years running. There were 300 vendors in the Vendor Village including motorcycle manufacturers, production custom manufacturers, custom builders, distributors of riding gear and apparel, and parts and accessories manufacturers and distributors. A report of vendor sales from the Nevada Taxation Department supports the strength of Las Vegas BikeFest as taxable sales reported by vendors matched the strong sales level of the 2006 event. “I’m sure we will see some events go by the wayside this year as a result of the softening of the motorcycle market,” noted Schwartz. “That’s unfortunate for those promoters and the motorcycle industry in general. We intend to promote as hard as ever, providing an incredible opportunity for vendors and motorcycle enthusiasts in 2008 while continuing to grow Las Vegas BikeFest into the premier motorcycle rally in the west.” Future dates for Las Vegas BikeFest: Las Vegas BikeFest is produced by Las Vegas BikeFest, LLC a joint venture of ConvExx and Full Throttle Events. As one of the most important and influential bands in the history of rock, the Cr?e has blazed a trail of smash hits, performed everywhere with electricity, and developed a tremendous and devoted fan base worldwide.
The upcoming double-CD ‘Carnival Of Sins’ features 23 tracks spanning the Cr?e’s entire career. All of the band’s hits are performed, including “Too Young To Fall In Love,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Shout At The Devil,” “Dr. Feelgood,” and many more. The performance was recorded April 27, 2005 at the Van Andel Arena in in Grand Rapids, MI and is a companion to the live DVD of the same name.
The tour, co-promoted by VH1 and VH1 Classic, drew record crowds around the world, with the group eventually playing before an estimated 1 million in the U.S. M?tley Cr?e had offers from more than 100 cities for their summer run, many of them conducting “Bring the Cr?e” campaigns through local radio stations and media promotions that resulted in petitions being signed and a series of 55 additional dates added in the U.S. through the summer and fall.
Entertainment Weekly called the Cr?e tour the “Feelgood reunion of the year.” MTV.com raved: “Big, loud and dirty M?tley-and their fans-wouldn’t have it any other way.” The Toronto Star said the reunited Cr?e show was “the very embodiment of cool.” The Philadelphia Inquirer simply gave it “four devil horns.” Associated Press said proclaimed: “They snatched the crown back and wore it proudly for two-and-a-half hours of power chords, profanity and wardrobe malfunctions.” The Toronto Globe and Mail opined: “They came, they saw and they conquered.”

LEGENDARY AGOSTINI GRAND PRIX RACER ON VIEW AT STAMFORD MUSEUM–The MV Agusta 500cc three-cylinder Grand Prix racer ridden to many F.I.M. Grand Prix victories by world famous racer Giacomo Agostini is on view at Stamford Museum & Nature Center as part of its “The Motorcycle, Italian Style: Riding the Curves with MV Agusta” exhibition.
The motorcycle, which is in its original, unrestored, race-ready condition, has never before been on public display in a museum. The motorcycle was acquired directly from MV Agusta S.p.A. in 1986 by its current owners Robert T. Iannucci and Sonia O. Ewers/Team Obsolete of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Only a few of this particular model of motorcycle were built. They were designed in the mid-1960s specifically for Agostini, and he rode them to 13 of his 15 F.I.M. Grand Prix world championships, and to 10 Isle of Man TT victories. Agostini has since ridden it in many historic parades worldwide.
“It’s one of the most spectacular and successfully 500 grand prix racing motorcycles that the world has ever seen and it was ridden by the world’s greatest rider,” said Iannucci. “This motorcycle was an all-dominating force. Generally Agostini won every race he entered for years on end. It was part of the MV Agusta dynasty. … No rider, no team, no motorcycle has ever dominated the way they did.”
Of his decision to lend the motorcycle to the museum, Iannucci explained, “It is absolutely a work of art. This is a hand-built motorcycle. It was built by artisans. It’s a fabulous merger of technology and art. It’s very minimalist. There’s nothing on the motorcycle that isn’t absolutely necessary for it to perform its function. It’s a product of a culture which has been building artistic technology for more than two millenia.”
“The Motorcycle, Italian Style: Riding the Curves with MV Agusta,” sponsored by Cliff’s Cycle Revolution, is on view at Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s Bendel Mansion Museum Galleries Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This exhibition is made possible with support from the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism and features the Gary & Connie Kohs Collection. Stamford Museum & Nature Center is located at 39 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT (3/4 mile North of Merritt Parkway Exit 35.) AMERICAN ROAD SHOP GIVES AWAY NEW H-D SPORTSTER AND CONTIRBUTES TO CHILDREN’S LEUKEMIA–Highland, MICH. – October 15, 2007 – American Road Shop Bike Night’s recurring theme is “Lifestyle is a choice.” The choice was clear for many bikers to head to 59 West in Highland, Michigan, on Tuesday nights from May to September and take part in weekly bike contests, raffles and the chance to win a brand new Harley-Davidson Sportster from ABC Harley Davidson. They also held a 50/50 drawing for the third year in a row with 50% of the proceeds going to the winner and 50% to the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan (CLF), which was over $2000 this year.
Thanks to ABC Harley Davidson’s involvement, this marked the third year that American Road Shop gave away a FREE Sportster. Tickets to enter the drawing were free, one per person each Tuesday. A rotating bike contest was held each week, with awards given for the most chrome, the longest bike, the oldest bike driven up and the best amateur custom.
Each winner received a $25 gift certificate from American Road Shop and a $25 certificate from 59 West. Also, every Tuesday throughout the summer, names were drawn for door prizes, Bike Night Tee Shirts, vendor giveaways and more. With 100-150 bikes on an average night to 350 bikes and about 500 people on the final night, the third year of American Road Shop’s Bike Night, co-sponsored by ABC Harley-Davidson and Coors Light, was extremely successful.
American Road Shop co-owner Tim Beaubien said, “The last bike night of the year is always a big night for us, we give the bike away and we tally the final count for CLF. This year was particularly gratifying, not only did we have the best year donation for CLF but both Barb and myself had people coming up to us and thanking us for hosting this bike night. That made all the work worth it.”

DONATION MADE FOR MOTORCYCLE FREEDOM– Below is a link to Bruce and Ray’s web page, with Gary Hildebrand, ABATE of Delaware, announcing a huge donation to the ABATE of California Judicial Fund. I want to thank Gary and ABATE of Delaware on behalf of BOLT, and I also want to acknowledge Shirley “GirlGeek” and Chainsaw for their tireless efforts to make this happen. Also, Ray Henke for putting out the national call for assistance and his work with GirlGeek and Chainsaw.
This is a crucial time for bikers in this country. The pro-helmet forces are on the attack. We need to make a strong statement that the bikers of this nation can and will come together to fight intrusions in our private lives and we will challenge unjust and vague laws. Delaware has made that statement with it’s support of the ongoing court cases in California, which if successful, could set a precedent for the rest of the state and hopefully encourage other states to make a judicial stand. Thank you ABATE of Delaware.

WIRE PLUS CUTS A DEAL WITH ORANCE COUNTY CHOPPERS–Winfield, KS- Wire Plus Powersports Electronics is proud to announce their new relationship with Orange County Choppers/OCC. Rick Marler, President of Wire Plus has been working with OCC for the last several months developing a wiring harness that will work on all OCC bikes?both production and custom style choppers. “We are quite proud that OCC chose us over all of the other companies in the industry to design their wiring harness as well as some other proprietary products for their line of motorcycles” added Marler.
Orange County Choppers is a custom motorcycle manufacturer founded by Paul Teutul, Sr. and Paul Teutul, Jr. in 1999. The company is featured on American Chopper, a reality TV show that debuted in September 2002 on the Discovery Channel, which has contributed to the company’s quick rise to fame. In 2007, Discovery Channel’s sister channel TLC took over the broadcasting.
Many are under the mostaken belief that the company is based in Orange County, California, rather, it is based in the county of the same name in New York state. In fact, in one of the episodes of American Chopper, Paul Sr. was shown getting a tattoo on his left arm with the desiginationOCC New York in order to clear this very point. OCC’s production facility was initially located in the hamlet of Rock Tavern, but has since moved to nearby Montgomery. The company also runs a retail store nearby, at Scotts Corners and another is set to open soon at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack.
OCC started as a sideline to the family’s steel manufacturing enterprise, Orange County Ironworks, which was founded in the 1970’s. In the late 1990’s, Teutul Sr. began manufacturing custom motorcycles as an extension of his steel business and in 1999 he founded Orange County Choppers. The company’s first bike, “True Blue”, was debuted at the 1999 Daytona Biketoberfest. The Company has recently started to build a new shop called OCC in Newburgh, NY, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2008..
Marlon Crow, Sales Manager of Wire Plus stated, “In addition to our world renowned digital instrument panels (features include: speedometer, tachometer, trip, odometer and all indicator light functions, new flat panel construction that measures 2.5″ round with all electronics onboard and super bright display technology for true daylight readability with a light sensor for auto-dimming at night) we also manufacture a complete line of self-diagnostic wiring systems to fit any stock or custom bike application.” Some of the advantages that you get with products from Wire Plus include Solid State breaker technology (the breakers never have to be replaced) and a replaceable start relay that can be purchased at any auto parts store. Their power modules are submersible waterproof and very compact in size with harnesses that are engineered to be smaller than any other on the market. Wire Plus’ main focus is on the reliability of everything that they manufacture.

THE ROCK BAND THE AUTHORITIES DON’T WANT YOU TO SEE– AFS, the band the authorities don’t want you to seeBody: Hells Angel Rusty Coones is the guitar player, songwriter and founding member of heavy metal band AFS (Attica Freak Show) and have been for the past three years since his release from federal prison. Although every event the band has played has been peaceful, most of the venues they have played have been pressured by the authorities to not let the band play the show.
Last Halloween, one venue was contacted at least 30 times from various government agencies to cancel an event AFS was to play. Ultimately the board of directors finally caved in and canceled the concert 3 days before the show.
Come out and show support for AFS and send the message that oppression won’t be tolerated and freedom of speech is still alive in the US!
The next show scheduled is Nov. 7th at the Galaxy Theatre in OC. Mention AFS at the door and save $10 on your ticket.

TORIAN CHOPPER LEATHERS HIRES MOZELLE EDGEWORTH–Mozelle Edgeworth Opens Up Mountain Through East Coast Time Zones.November 1, 2007, Southlake, TX – Torian Chopper Leathers announces the hiring of Mozelle Edgeworth to represent the firm’s old skool chopper leather jackets, chaps, shirts and gloves to motorcycle dealerships throughout the central and eastern United States.
Edgeworth brings her considerable talent and experience of the motorcycle industry to bear in the new Torian venture. Before joining Torian Chopper Leathers, she spent eight years at American IronHorse as a Dealer Relations Manager. She then opened her own apparel company, Custom Impressions. Her experience and history of success makes her uniquely qualified to represent the Torian Chopper Leathers line.
“The Torian Chopper Leathers’ product design and dealer program are right on the money, explained Edgeworth. “Dealers have access to a quality product that is designed specifically for riders. The ladies’ riding leather shirt is my favorite design… it is cut for a woman rider, soft to the touch and offers significant protection from the elements.”
The Torian Chopper Leathers program allows dealers to get into an apparel program with minimal upfront investment, provides outstanding margins and further reduces costs through a free shipping program.
Bob Kay, Torian Chopper Leathers’ Chief Designer, previously met Mozelle at American IronHorse and had this to say about her coming onboard: “We are excited to have a talent like Mozelle Edgeworth getting behind the firm and assisting us in establishing new relationships with dealers across the country.” Bob continued, “Together, we are going to do great things.”

SHOULD FREEDOM RALLIES RETURN– As I read this (again) I have to wonder why we do not have freedom rallies anymore. It seems to me that with the many threats coming at us from all directions now would be the time to organize one.
Funny you mention this – that’s how Tony & I met. I was in Madison petitioning to have the Helmet Rally’s reinstated. I was concerned that we would lose our momentum and our large voice. It’s easier to mess with someone who doesn’t come every year to remind you who they are. I also felt it would be hard to re-organize a group like that. The thinking at the time by the “Right to Decide” committee was that there was no pending legislation so what were we protesting? They were afraid that we were just ticking people off.
I came back the next month with signed petitions by bikers saying they felt this was important but they took a vote and it was negative.

SAMSON AND RAY PRICE ARE ROCK SOLID–Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team puts on “Rock Solid” performance at Screamin Eagle Performance Nationals, Raleigh, NC – October 14, 2007.For the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team Rockingham Dragway is a homecoming. Also known as the “Rock”, the dragway is Ray Price’s home track and is evident by the Harley-Davidson branded bridge that spans the dragstrip. Ray Price has torn up the Rockingham dragstrip and brought excitement to his fans for many years by putting on some of the most memorable passes down this quarter mile track.
The team’s performance at this event brought the same level of excitement, with one exception Joey Sternotti was in the pilot’s seat. Since taking over the riding duties mid season, Sternott has continued to impress, racking up very consistence performances in the last four races.
Sternotti remained the number one qualifier after two rounds posting a 6.34 and 6.476 respectively and was just shy of holding onto the number one spot after Doug Vancil ripped off a 6.258 in round three to take the number one spot.
Going into eliminations Sternotti continued to build momentum with a first round win of 6.416 and a second round win of 6.40 to move into the semis against Mike Romine.
As a result of tire spin, Sternotti’s hope of taking the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team to the winner’s podium was cut short in the third round..
Ray Price’s fans still showed their gratitude for a great show by standing and cheering on the team as they came down the return road.
“I really wanted to capture a win at the “Rock” for this team, they have worked so hard to make the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike perform so well and so consistently” Sternotti said
The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team is looking for another great performance when it visits for the first time the “Mecca” of dragstrips, Pomona Raceway, for the California Nationals on November 9th and 10th.
OHIO RIGHT-OF-WAY LEGISLATION MOVING–Senate Bill 158, legislation to toughen penalties for certain traffic offenses that result in serious injury or death to other roadway users, is on the move in Ohio.
See the lastest Action Alert in the Ohio StateWatch section of the Contact your elected officials today to let them know why this legislation is important to you, your family, and all Ohioans. YOU CANT FIX STUPID BIKERNET AWARDS–Eighth Place:In Detroit , a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of water after squeezing head first through an 18-inch-wide sewer grate to retrieve his car keys. Seventh Place:A 49 year old San Francisco stockbroker, who “totally zoned when he ran,” accidentally jogged off a 100-foot high cliff on his daily run. Sixth PlaceBuxton , NC : A man died on a beach when an 8-foot-deep hole he had dug into the sand caved in as he sat inside it. Beach-goers said Daniel Jones, 21, dug the hole for fun, or protection from the wind, and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom Thursday afternoon when it collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach, on the outer banks, used their hands and shovels, trying to claw their way to Jones, a resident of Woodbridge , VA , but could not reach him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to free him while about 200 people looked on. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital. Fifth Place:Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed in Lompoc , CA , as he fell face-first through the ceiling of a bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long flashlight he had placed in his mouth (to keep his hands free) rammed into the base of his skull as he hit the floor. Fourth Place:Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed in Selbyville , Del , as he won a bet with friends who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his mouth and pull the trigger. Third PlaceThe following mind-boggling attempt at a crime spree in Washington , DC appeared to be the robber’s first (and last), due to his lack of a previous record of violence, and his terminally stupid choices: 1.. His target was H&J Leather & Firearms; A gun shop specializing in handguns. 2. The shop was full of customers – firearms customers. 3. To enter the shop, the robber had to step around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door. 4. A uniformed officer was standing at the counter, having coffee before work. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up, an fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, the police officer with a 9mm GLOCK 17, the clerk with a 50 DESERT EAGLE, assisted by several customers who also drew their guns, several of whom also drew and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt in the exchange of fire. HONORABLE MENTION:Paul Stiller, 47, was hospitalized in Andover township, NJ, and his wife Bonnie was also injured, when a quarter- stick of dynamite blew up in their car. While driving around at 2 AM, the bored couple lit the dynamite and tried to toss it out the window to see what would happen, but apparently failed to notice the window was closed. RUNNER UP: TACOMA , WA .:Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least 10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 AM. Upon arrival at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a bungee rope. Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and pointed out that a coil of lineman’s cable lay near by. One end of the cable was secured around Bingham’s leg and the other end was tied to the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle. He miraculously survived his fall into the icy salt water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. “All I can say” said Bingham, is that God was watching out for me on that night. There’s just no other explanation for it.” Bingham’s foot was never located. AND THE WINNER:Overzealous zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt (Paderborn , Germany) fed his constipated elephant Stefan 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged- up pachyderm finally let it fly, and suffocated the keeper under 200 pounds of poop! Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded on him. “The sheer force of the elephant’s unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground where he struck his head on a rock and lay unconscious as the elephant continued to evacuate his bowels on top of him” said flabbergasted Paderborn police detective Erik Dern. With no one there to help him, he lay under all that dung for at least an hour before a watchman came along, and during that time he suffocated. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents that proves… “Shit happens.” –Art THE NEWEST CAR KULTURE DELUXE COVER–Check out our newest cover of Car Kulture Deluxe this issue has a great article on The Wild One movie, we got the inside scoop on some things and they is an interview with Sonny Barger. –Geno FINALLY, MORRIS MAGNETOS FOR TWIN CAMS–Morris Magneto announces the latest addition to its line-up of fully automatic Magnetos. Fires, Scott Jacobs and his family helped to save many homes in their neighborhood by going back in the battle zone to confront the deadly flames. They ran with garden hoses from house to house nonstop for hours in an effort to douse fires which began to consume structures. Firemen in the vicinity referred to Scott’s clan as “The Flip-Flop Brigade” and praised them for their heroic deeds. –Ron Copple BIKERNET STAFFER REACHES MILESTONE–Long time Bikernet.com correspondent TBear has reached a milestone in his career. With the acceptance of his newest article by London’s DiCE Magazine, TBear will have been published in his 30th motorcycle publication. Published in over seven languages from the Americas to Australia, handicapped Bikernet photojournalist TBear has traveled to far flung places such as Tahiti, Scandinavia, Amsterdam and the Canadian Rockies to name but a few, to capture the scene and the wild one off custom bike features he has become famous for. After a tragic accident back in 1988 which left TBear paralyzed from the waste down, doctors told him that his riding as well as his walking days were over. Never being one for taking bad news lying down TBear struggled back on his feet. With the help of a few friends, he built himself a VW powered trike and hit the road again with his trusty Nikon. After a few years of self-imposed physical therapy, he was able once again to kick over and ride his trusty 1950 EL Panhead. As a concession to his still severely paralyzed left leg, TBear bought a 2000 Road King, which sports NY States first Handicapped license plate. TBear has been there, done and got the T-Shirts as a writer and a bike photographer. As an international judge for a few of the International AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building affiliate shows as well as a World Final Judge, TBear can be found in some of the strangest parts of the globe looking for bikes to feature and riding tales to tell. We are currently feature TBear features from the dread Smoke Out West. Watch for another Brew feature next week. Hey,
I’m finally getting caught up with the e-mails, I think. Don’t hesitate to send me news again, if I missed posting it. I don’t even know what to comment on, to kick off this extravaganza of news from one end of the world to another, one demographic to another and one market to another.
Here’s some spots. Buell turned our Alaskan Adventure down. I thought it would be a natural to ride around Alaska on Buells. We will film the adventure, plus a six months series of articles will follow our bikes, planning, arrangements and the adventure. How could they go wrong? We needed 6-12 bikes for three weeks.
Bikernet is about to launch a separate metric cruiser department hosted by Josh Placa, called JPBLVD. We know that the metric element is growing, but I didn’t have the resources to cover it on the Bikernet side or the hours, besides some of us are old school and want to stay cemented to the American way of welding shit together. Watch for it. We’ll see if Josh can keep up.
This week blistered with interesting info, downed brothers and heart. Let’s hit the news and maybe, at the end, I can articulate my feelings. If not we’ll have a Jack on the rocks and relax.
BRASS BALLS BOBBERS POSTER SALE– Get an early jump on sprucing up your office, den or garage with Brass Balls Bobbers most excellent poster. It is normally 10 smacks but for all our Bikernet friends it is only $7.50.

BANDIT BED ROLL HAS IT ALL– I thought about the Old West and the bedrolls the cowboys used to carry their shit, and it came to me. Something over the headlight, as long as it wasn’t too heavy, could do the trick. The bike would maintain its nasty profile, I could still pack someone on the back, and carry my shit.
As I wound through the canyon, my mind went to work on the bedroll concept. Could it carry all I wanted to pack? Another question smacked me as I rounded another corner and caught a glimpse of the Pacific lapping the Malibu shores in the distance. What about a tool bag?
Bandit’s Bed Roll is the perfect combo of tool bag and weekender engineered by the man that delivers form and function and keeps your ride looking clean. So pull out your wallet and click here to get your official Bandit Bed Roll Today.

HEARTBREAK IN THE D&D PITS– Bonneville is a wanton woman. She’ll dazzle you with her beauty one minute and break your heart the next. Team D&D Performance Enterprises felt they were on a mission to break the Fat Book Flyer record from 2006. They had the bike, technology and the team to do it. The weather and a few gremlins laid their plan asunder.
Bob Dowdy talks to Bikernet TV before there last attempt. Click here to see the interview and all the Bonneville action on Bikernet TV.
SAVE YOUR FAVORITE MAGAZINE, STOP POSTAL RATE HIKES– In March, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) voted to implement a massive rate hike for magazines, which puts diverse, independent free speech at risk.
The new rates favors the nation’s largest publishers — like Time Warner who submitted the plan — while unfairly burdening thousands of smaller and independent magazines with much higher postal rates, as high as 20 or 30 percent.
Now it’s up to Congress to reverse the unfair rate hikes and save these important publications. Take Action today!

PROJECT USING LEGEND’S COMPONENTS MAKE AMERICAN BAGGER– I attached some pictures taken by American Bagger. This bike was created by Mike of A-1 Cycles Inc. he used our frame, tank, and handlebars to create a bagger!
–Tyna Bower
The bike is called team player. It’s an A 1 Cycles convertible. Mike used the Independent Cycle Inc softail, drop neck frame, Slither gas tank and ICI pullback bars.
Mike says “I wanted to do this bike to show people that you can go from prostreet to bagger in less than 4 minutes.” Mike entered the bike in “The Boardwalk” in Daytona on Friday and won radical evo. The bike also placed third at the rats hole in Daytona with a solid black paint job, so, as Mike put it, “it placed incredibly well for a solid color bike.”
His web site is www.a1cycles.net please link to it (A-i’s logo is attached) and the American Bagger website…www.americanbagger.com. The bike will be featured in a upcoming issue of the magazine.

HINES DEFENDS LAS VEGAS PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE VICTORY; MAINTAINS COUNTDOWN POINTS LEAD–LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29, 2007) – Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Motorsports rider Andrew Hines experienced a completely different feeling at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals on Sunday.
Hines was calm.
The three-time defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle champion didn’t have the usual butterflies normally associated with a big race weekend. As if the 15th of 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle events wasn’t pressure-packed enough every other year, this season the stakes were much higher.
The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was the first of two final events in the Countdown to the Championship. Only four racers in each professional category have qualified to race for the 2007 crowns.
Hines walked into Las Vegas with a 10-point lead. He’s leaving with a 39-point lead following his victory.
“It really was the strangest day I’ve ever had in racing,” Hines said. “Everything was nice and smooth and there weren’t any issues on the bike or with anything else. I give all the credit for this unusually calm and great day to my team. They did a great job preparing the V-Rod for competition and I was ready to go without the butterflies because of it.
“It was an excellent day. We won the race and extended our points lead and it is all pretty overwhelming. I can’t wait to get to the season finale.”
Hines beat Shawn Gann and the Race Girl/Lucas Oil Suzuki team in the first round. Hines recorded a 7.053-second pass at 188.49 mph to top Gann’s 7.217 at 186.15. Hines earned a second round victory over Chris Rivas and the Torco Buell team with a 7.085 at 187.83 over Rivas’ 7.157 at 182.62.
Hines earned his 22nd career final round appearance with his semifinal matchup win over Matt Smith and the Torco Race Fuels Buell. Hines won with a 7.086 pass at 186.92, beating Smith’s 7.096 at 186.43.
With a final round victory over Chip Ellis, Hines earned his 13th career victory. Hines rode to the quarter-mile victory with a 7.073 run at 187.34 to beat Ellis’ 7.144 at 185.41 on his Buell.
“With one race left we have a 39-point lead and that’s a great position to be in,” Harley-Davidson Racing Manager Anne Paluso said. “The team has worked extremely hard to overcome some challenges this season and put us in a position to compete for the championship. The work paid off this weekend. It was a great race and we’re proud of the way everyone performed under the pressure of battling for a record number of championships.”
The victory was the second consecutive for Hines at Las Vegas. With one race remaining (the Auto Club Finals in Pomona, Calif., Nov. 1-4) Hines is aiming for history.
Hines is tied with two other racers, older brother and current crew chief Matt Hines and Angelle Sampey, as the only riders in NHRA history to win three consecutive titles. If Hines can win the championship this year, he will be the first rider in NHRA history to win four consecutive crowns.
“It’s nice knowing we have a little bit of a cushion in the point standings going into Pomona, but that won’t change our goals of trying to win rounds and win the race,” Hines said. “Almost any other time of year it’s nice to have a week or two off after you win a race so you can savor the victory. But I’m very happy we race before the week is out. The team is focused and I’m excited about this Countdown to the Championship.”
Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Motorsports teammate Eddie Krawiec qualified in the No. 5 position before losing to Geno Scali and the Performance Machine Suzuki team in the first round.
