Colorado Springs Fire Department Uses Off-road Motorcycles

In a region where outdoor thrills are plentiful, ice rescues, lost hikers and injured rock climbers are a year-round reality for the Colorado Springs Fire Department. For some firefighters, mountain rescues are just as much a part of the job as house fires and car crashes. They have an arsenal of tools for the job, including a half dozen off-road motorcycles. Derricks, Dinosaurs and James Dean

California Dream Roads: SR 33, 58 and Beyond. By Gary Mraz. State Routes 33 and 58 are amongst several of Californiaā€™s dream motorcycle roads. Combined, they represent over 180 miles of motorcycle friendly riding. The southern start point of SR 33 begins in the seaside mission town of Ventura at the Pier. This I know because I wrote the book: ā€œPiers of the West Coast ā€“ Travelled on Two Wheelsā€. (Shameless self-promotion). Ā  The Deck at Eric Ericsonā€™s restaurant at the base of Ventura Pier is a great place to grab a bite and ponder the trek ahead. See moreĀ here...

Still Live nā€™ Kickinā€™ Classics Gather at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. While you won't find any buckets of Halloween candy, you will find 13 scary cool bikes at Forest Lawn during a special exhibit. Okay, we gotta admit itā€™s a tiny bit macabre to find a stellar group of antique, vintage and high performance motorcycles on display at a cemetery, literally the last place a bike fan wants to visit. But there was lively reasoning behind the appearance of 13 ā€œcelebrityā€ two-wheelers at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, the 1906 historic landmark located in Glendale, CA. The museum, part of the 300 acre property since 1957, has previously offered a wide variety of exhibits as they are ā€œcommitted to ...

Dar Holdsworthā€™s Second Navy Bike for Rolling Thunder by Darwin and Brass Balls Cycles

A Tribute to Pros for Vets and Rolling Thunder. If there was an award for the most Amazing bike builder on the planet Dar would be a major contender. He wouldnā€™t win it for building some spindly, art object, board track racer and winning the AMD World Championship, although he has already won several AMD awards. Donā€™t get me wrong, art objects are cool, but Dar builds riders. He would win it for being one of the most prolific, resilient builders to ever walk the earth. He would take home the prize for surviving the 2008 economic downturn with style, while 95 percent of the custom manufacturers tanked and 75 percent of all the shops closed. He would win ...

Conflict And Corruption Thursday News for October 30th, 2014

A week of strange conflicts and corruption. Hey, Do you read horoscopes, check your feng shui calendar, or any other sooth-saying window into the future. I donā€™t generally, but I do try to stay in tune with whatā€™s going on around me. If I notice a particularly negative trend, my survival antennae elevates. I try to catch myself, before I slip into any extreme mode. This week and last turned into weeks of strange conflicts and corruption. So, say someone stole your partnerā€™s wallet. Thatā€™s a bummer, so you torture a couple of guys down the block to twist info from the grimy bastards. Iā€™m kidding. But say that one swell of a negative wave turns into three, maybe ...
