BIKERNET CALIFORNIA BIKE WEEK, LOVE RIDE THURSDAY NEWS

Lead

Hey,

I’m sick of this election shit night after night, as if there’s no other news in the world. It’s got me down. I’m going to bury you with almost 15,000 words of news and 90 percent of it will be positive, about custom motorcycles and sex. Why doesn’t the general media get it.

Oh, by the way, 800 might die in Iraq this year (probably a lot less) but 60,000 will die of the flu in the United States this year, who failed? That’s all I have to say let’s party. It’s Love Ride Weekend, and it snuck up on me. California Bike week is taking over and the action will be none-stop all weekend in Los Angeles. I’m hiding out here trying to finish the Panhead patio table.

D&D TRIUMPH MAGAPHONE

ON MYRTLE BEACH NEW REGS–Bandit, If the Myrtle Beach City Council does not feel it needs the revenue from bike week, let’s all just stay home next spring. With the deepening recession our own local economies could use our cash. Instead of spending our money in Myrtle Beach, why not spend it at your local chopper shop.

Get that engine upgrade or new springer on your bike. Take your favorite lady out for drinks and dinner after a ride on your favorite roads. You get my point. Don’t spend your money where they don’t appreciate it! Thanks for all the great info. Keep up the good work.

Build it

HARLEY-DAVIDSON LAUNCHES ?BUILD IT AND WIN IT? SWEEPSTAKES–Win a 2009 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Created on ?The Customizer? Web Site.

MILWAUKEE (October 15, 2008) ? Beginning today, contestants have an opportunity to personally design and win a custom 2009 model Harley-Davidson motorcycle by entering the ?Build It and Win It Sweepstakes? presented by Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories.

The sweepstakes utilizes The Customizer (www.harley-davidson.com/customizer ), an interactive web tool on a mini-site attached to harley-davidson.com that allows contestants to build a virtual dream bike based on 2009 Harley-Davidson models. On The Customizer, visitors can choose any 2009 Harley-Davidson model and then select from dozens of custom options, including Color Shop custom paint sets, Screamin? Eagle performance components, hand and foot controls, custom front end parts and decorative collections, and add and remove them on a virtual motorcycle. As the bike is created, each new component appears on a picture of the virtual motorcycle, so a contestant can see exactly what the finished custom Harley-Davidson will look like. This dream bike can then be saved in a personal profile ?Garage,? along with a convenient, printable list of each component with its part number and retail price.

Contestants can enter the ?Build It and Win It Sweepstakes? by following these steps:
1. Go to www.harley-davidson.com/customizer and click on ?Launch the Customizer.?
2. Create a profile and log-in to a personal profile ?Garage.?
3. Choose a 2009 Harley-Davidson model, and then select a stock or pre-customized bike.
4. Choose the Genuine Motor Accessories to add to that bike.
5. When the motorcycle is saved in a personal profile ?Garage,? the contestant is automatically be entered into the motorcycle sweepstakes.

At the close of the sweepstakes, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. ET, a Harley-Davidson Motor Company representative will randomly select one virtual custom bike that has been entered into a personal profile Garage. The person who created the profile will be awarded the 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was created on-line, complete with all selected accessories. The winner will be notified via email.

TOO COOL PEREWITZ MECHANIC SHIRTS–Perewitz calls their new pin stripped threads ?Mechanic Shirts? but they are certainly much more. Matter of fact it would be a shame to get these beauties covered in grease. Yea, you could wear them while you?re wrenching but they would look be just as cool cruisin? around town, on the golf course, bar hopping or just as every day casual wear. No matter where you choose to wear them these slick threads are certain to be a conversation starter.

Buelllogo

BUELL COMPLIMENT, BIKERNET COMPLAINT–Bandit:The Bikernet Buell Archives have a page that says:
I do not recommend any wheelie on a Buell. It is really hard on the Rear shock and the front fork neck bearings! I like to check my neck bearing’s at the 2500 mile service interveral’s. I have replaced alot of these and its usually do to abusive riding. Also the rear shock front mount bolts to the engine case. Lots of stress when you beat on the bike.

Cmon, dude, are you kidding? I have slammed the front end into the ground at least 100 times in five years. Like a well trained dog, the Buell Milenium X1 wags its tail and says “wanna try again ?”….

Buells are the most awesome street wheelie machines available. Their broad low rpm torque band just pulls the front end up cleanly, and helps us all get the skill we want – easily done, and if ya get scared and do a funky “shut down/slam down”, the forks have no problem at all…..

Stop being a pussy….(sorry, I meant wimp).
