SUCKER PUNCH SALLY’S AND BRUCE ROSSMEYER RESURRECT A CLASSIC– PHOENIX–November 25, 2008–Sucker Punch Sally’s announced the launch of the limited edition “Destination Duo” motorcycle, built exclusively for Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona. Equal parts old-school and modern, the Destination Duo bike celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first fully suspended American motorcycle, while capturing the bold, no nonsense style of a true Sucker Punch Sally’s one-off.

In partnership with motorcycle entrepreneur Bruce Rossmeyer, Sucker Punch Sally’s created 50 limited edition Destination Duo motorcycles. The motorcycle is nostalgically styled after the Duo glide while featuring the modern components standard on all Sucker Punch Sally’s models. Each “Destination Duo” includes a powerful reproduction Panheadtm power plant, 5 speed kick start transmission as well as an electric starter, original style 2 into 2 exhaust combination with rear suspension, optional buddy seat, and choice of a springer or hydraulic front-end.

“We’re excited to partner with Sucker Punch Sally’s on this bike,” said Bruce Rossmeyer, owner of Destination Daytona, the world’s largest dealership. “We wanted a bike that had a vintage feel and lived up to the demands of today’s riders. Who better to bring a classic back to life than the old-school experts themselves – Sucker Punch Sally’s.”

Each Destination Duo bike will have its own commemorative serial number, a numbered motor, a numbered, functional custom leather pogo seat and a limited edition print from renowned hotrod artist Sara Ray. The first Destination Duo bike with “serial number one” was auctioned off during Sturgis Bike Week 2008 as part of the first annual Legends Ride. The Destination Duo bike is available now and starts at $34,995.

CUSTOM MUSTANGS BUILT BY GEORGE BARRIS FOR SONNY AND CHER FEATURED STARS AT ?COLLECTOR CARS OF FORT LAUDERDALE? EVENT– RM Auctions will offer a star-studded line-up of significant automobiles in early 2009 as part of the highly anticipated ?Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale? auction event, presented by AutoNation. In addition to a magnificent collection of desirable classics, exotic sports cars and Detroit muscle cars, the February event will shine a spotlight on a series of celebrity cars including the Sonny and Cher Mustangs and the famous black Lamborghini Countach featured in the hit movie ?The Cannonball Run?.

Cher

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (November 25, 2008) ? Preeminent international auction house RM Auctions will bring a touch of Hollywood excitement to Fort Lauderdale, February 6th- 8th, 2009, as a series of celebrity cars cross the block at the highly anticipated Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale auction event, presented by AutoNation.

Regarded as South Florida?s premier collector car event, the annual three-day sale at the Greater Fort Lauderdale / Broward County Convention Center has offered numerous examples of celebrity cars over the years, from several versions of the Batmobile to the ?General Lee? Dodge Charger from the movie Dukes of Hazard. The 2009 event will continue the grand tradition as a host of celebrity cars are presented for auction alongside a magnificent line-up of desirable classics, exotic sports cars and Detroit muscle cars.

?Over the years our Fort Lauderdale event has carved a reputation as South Florida?s preeminent classic car event thanks to its ability to draw a wide range of motor cars and collectors from across the continent,? said RM?s Donnie Gould, a 30-year veteran of the classic car industry.

?With over 450 cars set to cross the block, our 2009 event ? proudly presented by AutoNation ? is set to be another exciting motoring weekend and cater to every automotive taste,? he added.

Two of the star attractions of the Fort Lauderdale event will be a matching pair of ?his and hers? 1966 Ford Mustang Convertibles. Plucked from the San Jose assembly line, the Ford Motor Company commissioned the legendary George Barris to personalize these cars to reflect the flamboyant onstage personas of sixties entertainment icons, Sonny and Cher. Sonny?s car was finished in Murano Gold Pearl, adorned by dark brown side panel and with an orange and gold fade-away treatment over the wheel wells and grille openings. In contrast, Cher?s Mustang featured a hot pink pearl finish, blended with candy red, deep red side panels and a matching fade-away treatment. Inside, Sonny?s Mustang was upholstered with Bobcat fur and antique buffed leather trimmed with rustic suede, while Cher?s car featured white Ermine fur and black antique Scottish leather upholstery, trimmed in hot pink suede. Both cars were fitted with opulent three-inch long Mouton fur carpeting, Sonny?s in gold and Cher?s in hot pink.

Upon completion, the cars were used for publicity purposes before going on to appear in Sonny and Cher?s only feature-length movie, Good Times. Following the movie?s wrap, they toured the car show circuit before they were returned for the use of Sonny and Cher and later reverted to George Barris. They have since changed hands and have undergone a recent cosmetic restoration to return to their original 1966 condition. Their offering at the Fort Lauderdale event marks the first time they have come to market in 25 years.

Another famous Barris creation set for RM?s Fort Lauderdale auction block is the 1969 Volkswagen ?Fire Bug?. Built by George Barris and Dick Dean in the mid-seventies as a parade and promotional vehicle for the LA Fire Department, the Fire Bug was based on a mid-1960s VW Microbus. The big budget project included flames, pin striping and artwork by Bob Bond. After retiring from the fire department, the Barris Fire Bug went on to play a starring role in the Saturday morning TV show The Banana Splits.

The curtain is also set to rise at RM?s Fort Lauderdale event on the famous jet black 1980 Lamborghini LP400S ?Cannonball Run? Countach, one of the world?s most iconic supercars. In 1981, this actual car was chosen to lead an all star line-up for the hit movie, The Cannonball Run, a madcap adventure about an illegal race of characters across America. Directed by veteran Hollywood stuntman Hal Needham and written by legendary automotive journalist Brock Yates, the movie starred Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Farrah Fawcett, Jackie Chan, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Roger Moore, Peter Fonda and the vivacious Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman as the Lamborghini team. The screenplay was based on Yates’ actual series of real-life Cannonball Run adventures while he was editor at Car & Driver magazine. A rare two-owner car from new, this example has been passionately maintained and the star of several Hawaiian Tropic sponsored events.

The Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale event will be closely followed by RM?s annual Automobiles of Amelia Island auction at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Hotel on March 14th, 2009.

BIKERNET TECH QUESTION FROM SPAIN–Hi, my name is Luciano and I’m living in Palma de Mallorca (Spain). I send ton you a photo of my motorcycle, buyed some months ago. I have some questions…

1) Is my motorcycle a Harley Davidson FXR 1989? In negative case…which motorcycle is?
2) When can I found information about the construction of the motorcycle used in the film “Harley Davidson & Marlboro Man” like photos and references?

–Luciano.

Yes you have an FXR. I?m not sure of the year. Let me know what the engine or frame numbers say. Regarding the H-D and Marlboro man bike, I?m looking for a connection. I know the guy who built one. I?ll reach out and see what I can find. You might look through the Bike Features on Bikernet. Seems we had a story at one time.

Monroe

SCOTT JACOBS RELEASE MARILYN MONROE GEM–Although the studio has pretty much inundated you with offers recently (not the norm) and we certainly appreciate your great response, the need to release this Marilyn Monroe gem around the holidays is compelling. The work itself is festive and may just be the perfect gift for Christmas for you or a loved one. In fact, we have not released a new Marilyn in over eight months. This painting was a very time consuming (over one year to completion) commissioned work so no stone was left unturned. I think this is one of the best Marilyn?s yet.

Only sixty limited canvases of this image exist and many of those are already spoken for by previous Marilyn collectors. If you like this one I would not wait as this genre is some of Scott?s most sought after imagery. Here you go: Title: She Loves Me?She Loves Me Not Size: 33? x 17.25? (add 8? ea. way for frame) Price: $1550 unframed $1950 framed. Deadline for Christmas delivery: Dec. 10 (also for any other framed pieces). Even if you don?t order we would love to have your opinion on this one?..thanks and have a wonderful holiday.

BUY AMMO?LOTS OF AMMO–The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer in a database of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and whatcalibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless theammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.(Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on everyround so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!

If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona,California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland,Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

BREATHALIZERS AVAILABLE FOR TESTING FROM RADIO SHACK–Strange times, but this little unit could save any brother up to ten grand and a lot of pain and suffering from a D.U.I. charge. Now you can buy one of these puppies at radio shack and test yourself before driving or riding.

We discovered this from a band member who plays gigs all over LA and most of the time it’s a party, but he checks himself before driving home. It there’s a problem he takes a walk, walks to a coffee shop or just chills out until he’s good to go.

I found out recently that 50 percent of all motorcycle accidents are alcohol involved. We need to watch that number.

BIKERNET METRIC UPDATE–My screams have not gone unnoticed! Recently I have been telling folks to send me their “stuff” and it is starting to trickle in. I have recently received an amateur photo shoot of a cool little bob job Yamaha VStar 1100. It is rough but tough and I like it. It shows the heart and soul of motorcycle building….lots of trial and error, some elbow grease and a love to be on two wheels.

Also, I recently an interview with Chuck of Rocky Mountain Customs, the painter who won the Bikernet Brouhaha in Sturgis. It took some talking but there is great stuff coming from his shop including a blown, nitrous Kawi that he is painting. He has the pics of the build, the paint and a pretty lady. I will post that shortly and follow the rest of the build and its success on the track.

Lastly, the AFT Customs’ Girls modeling agency is starting the “Lowla” bike build right now based on a Honda VTX1300. I have some prelim pics that NO-ONE else does! Jim the owner of AFT Customs will oversee the build and update me on the progress. Jim is the winner of Bikernet’s Brouhaha and will be bringing this bike to Sturgis in 2009 for the show again.

Just so you know, Jim builds Honda’s normally since that is what he specializes in. In fact, he is one of the first 500 factory Honda certified mechanics in the US! I thought that was pretty cool. He is certainly no one trick pony. As you recall, he won the 2008 World Championship in Sturgis this year with Yamaha Roadstar. The bike is now featured on the Bikernet Metric site with beautiful Melanie. Great shots of a great bike…from the camera of famed hot rod photographer Mike Chase…….enough with the plugs……..keep readin’ or get out there and ride!!!
