My 9,000 square foot building in Wilmington is in escrow, but I’m still confused. I wish I didn’t need to sell it to retire. It’s too cool and too packed fulla shit to move or replace. My grandkids don’t want it. My son can’t handle it, and I’m sure lots of folks are in a similar boat.
Ah, but everyone including Jeremiah, James and Honor, plus my kids would like me to hold onto it and keep it available for them in the future. Interesting. I could easily take a few things and set up a shop in Sturgis.
Then again, the adventure is everything. It’s like building a new bike or finding a new love. It’s about passion and creativity. So, I’m packing my shit and getting ready to hit the road.

EDELBROCK to shutter Los Angeles County HQ after 83 years–
Edelbrock, manufacturer of some of the most popular performance aftermarket intake manifolds and cylinder heads for our favorite V-8 engines, is packing up its Torrance, California, headquarters over the next two months. The facility, Edelbrock’s home since 1999, has 270 employees, most of whom will be laid off. The first layoffs were announced on January 15.
Edelbrock’s Torrance facility is home to the company’s marketing department as well as its research and development team, which design and test intake manifolds, cylinder heads, fuel injection systems, and entire crate engine packages. It’s where unfinished castings from the company’s San Jacinto, California, foundry arrive for final touches and packaging before being sent to speed shops and large retailers like Summit Racing and Jegs. The facility also assembles superchargers, including some that are original equipment on sports cars.
Edelbrock joining forces with Comp Performance Group, owners of Comp Cams and a number of performance aftermarket companies, is what set this change in motion. The union brings into existence one of the largest conglomerates in the performance industry. Edelbrock began moving some of its operations to a new facility in Olive Branch, Mississippi, beginning early in 2020. That new location will be the future headquarters of both Edelbrock and Comp Performance Group. Comp Cams is leaving its longtime home in Memphis, Tennessee.
We spoke to a veteran Edelbrock employee, who told us that Edelbrock plans to keep its two foundry facilities in California. The company will also retain its Edelbrock Race Center in Mooresville, North Carolina, amid the heart of NASCAR country.

Harley Reveals Potential Supercharged Engine with Latest Patent–For emissions or power, that is the question.
Typically, supercharged engines equate to increased performance in motorcycling circles. The word alone—supercharger—conjures up images of speed and power. Just look at Kawasaki’s H2 family, the only supercharged range on the market today.
Its aggressive styling and face-melting speed only perpetuate supercharger stereotypes. However, the automotive industry has applied superchargers to meet strict emissions standards while preserving power. Sure, models like the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Chevy Camaro ZL1 come with superchargers, but so do practical choices like Volvo’s V60 Wagon.
While we’ve seen our fair share of patents in the past, supercharged motorcycle engines are still rare. For that reason, Harley-Davidson’s latest patent is particularly interesting. Issued yesterday, the patent outlines the Motor Company’s potential plan to integrate a supercharger into its Big Twin lineup. While the Milwaukee-Eight platform spans both Touring and Softail machines, the patent doesn’t specify whether superchargers will be fitted to current or future powerplants. What the documents do show us is the forced air induction apparatus and how Harley could implement the technology.
The numerous figures exhibit the supercharger itself (64), the mechanical pulley that powers it (88), and the supply and discharge ports (68, 72). In simple terms, the engine’s existing crankshaft powers the supercharger via a covered belt drive. When air enters the intake system through the filter and conduit, the pulley-driven supercharger compresses the incoming air before delivering it to the combustion chamber through the intake manifold.
Of course, with a belt functioning as the drive mechanism, stretching is inevitable. To eliminate slack in the system once stretching occurs, the supercharger latches to the crankcase on a self-adjusting mount. Equipped with springs and bushings, the slidable track maintains tension and reduces potential maintenance. The system seems simple enough but one question still remains: why?
Is Harley exploring supercharged engines for a future performance Big Twin? Maybe a new contender to the Indian’s King of the Baggers-winning Challenger? Or is the bar and shield preparing for future emissions regulations and inevitable modernization. Regardless of the answer, it’s good to see more developments in supercharged engines. Hopefully, we’ll see more of those developments on spec sheets and less on patent documents in the future.

One has to strive to attain that aim and one has to be determined. The effort should not be half-hearted. One should have the sankalpa shakti, the willpower to achieve what one aspires for in life.
Life is successful and fulfilled when there is a focus. Life has no meaning when there is no focus. The focus should not be on having money, property, good friends and family. These are not the parameters of success in life. They are outcomes of your effort, outcomes of your wisdom and understanding, outcomes of your ability to manage situations and circumstances. Therefore, they cannot be the focus.
The focus at all times has always been transformation of the gross nature of the mind. Whether one is a renunciate or a person deeply engaged and involved in worldly activities, whether you are a yogi or a bhogi, a recluse or a social activist, success in life is attained only when the lower, gross and animal tendencies have been transformed into positive qualities.
If depression or frustration, dissatisfaction, social or financial problems become the cause of the desire to take one’s life, then the soul is not free. The spirit remains bound by the karmas, by samskaras and desires, and that bondage of spirit is anti-evolution.
God did not give you life for you to take it away. God gave you life so you could learn to cherish it, to respect it and to use it for the welfare of everyone. The members of a family are concerned for each other’s welfare. That is one stage. The same concern and care can expand to other people, to many people. That is another stage, where the quality of caring and nurturing expands to such an extent that the concept of one’s family is not confined to the few who live nearby – husband, wife and children – but expands to encompass other people as well, who are not your own. In that way the welfare of all becomes a selfless act and not a selfish act. True happiness comes with selfless action. There is happiness in selfish acts also but that is temporary. Stability of happiness is attained when one is able to perform a selfless act.
God has given us this opportunity, this life, to express the appropriate human qualities and to become the master of the environment, situations and circumstances and not be a subject or a slave to them. Appreciation of human qualities, human strengths and weaknesses, becomes the trademark of life. When appreciation becomes the trademark of life, when there is focus in life, then life is fulfilled.

Yes, I had heat. Dude, I have a crescent wrench my dad gave me when I was 10, my 6-inch magnetic level I bought when I was a welders helper at 15. I don’t abuse tools. I think I’ve always used a regular 2 or 3 jaw puller.

ROAD GLIDE MODS ALSO IN TEXAS–I recently removed the tour pack from my 2016 RGU using H-D’s Part..Harley Luggage Relocation..P/N p/53000567A
The process is straight forward and anyone with a 3rd grade reading ability and a set of Fisher Price hand tools can handle the project.
Now, the problem came to the seating and the position. As we all do with these bikes, we adjust until we find the exact combo that works for us, right?
Over the past 4 years, I’ve changed the bars a few times. I first rolled the stock bars forward, but it placed you hands into a weird angle. Then I decided on the H-D fat Apes, which places your hands in a much more comfortable position. H-D Fat Apes
I rode the bike to New York and back with no issues, but honestly never liked the look. I know, ultimate RUB comment, but I like making the bike look a certain way. I eventually pulled the apes, and went back to the stock bars. I changed the bars a few times last year, I and also experimented with seats.
I liked the Paul Yaffe 6′ Sport Monkey Bars as they place me in a relaxed yet aggressive position. Yaffe 6″ Sport Monkey Bars.
The next adjustment was the seat.
The stock Ultra seat feels like a marshmallow and it creates so many uncomfortable hot spots on a long run, I never truly liked it. Plus, it smashes your sack into the tank…not cool.
I tried the Sundowner, but found it “okay” at best. Comfortable, but set me higher and much farther back…neither were my preference. Sundowner
I added the back rest as well, but it wasn’t for me. SOLD it and moved on.
I went with the Harley Solo Leather and it was great, except once I changed the bars it placed me in a clamshell, which made my lower back scream. Plus I felt “detached from the bike when riding. Weird. H-D Solo I even added the pillion to see if it would add to the back support, but it didn’t. SOLD it and moved on.
I added the Hammock seat, and besides being fugly, thick as hell, and wide in the front, was very comfortable. I will keep this one for long touring trips when the wife rides and only when the tour pack is back on. Hammock Seat
A few years ago I owned a Dyna Superglide which I put a Le Pera Cherokee seat on. I LOVED that seat and gave the bike an excellent feel as well as look. Le Pera offers it for the Touring Models as well but it was OUT OF STOCK, so I decided to pivot.
Here is my latest seat, The Sprocket Solo. Has just enough lower lumbar, upper ass support to keep you from sliding while placing me exactly where I want to sit.
Overall with the tour pack removal, bar change, and seat change I feel like I can rip a little more efficiently and don’t feel like Im straddling a Winnebago as much. Thankfully the wife’s 2020 Fatbob is parked next to her if I need a real hot rod fix, but hopefully this will help cure my disease of trading Harley’s every 3 years or so.

We’ll get right to the point, we as a team we have decided that February of 2021 for the rescheduled Show/Race is just too soon. Wisconsin will not be ready for that. And we don’t want to get everyone stoked and start making travel arrangements for another “maybe”.
So, we are going to push the Show and Races to the December 3rd/4th/5th 2021 weekend. We know it’s not in our usual winter/February time frame, but since not much is normal anymore AND that’s the soonest we could get a slot at the Fiserv Forum for Flat Out Friday Racing, December 3rd/4th/5th 2021 it is.
We’ve all been through a lot this year. So hang on a little longer for us. We will be working on some interim fun stuff for this spring and summer, some small events to stay active and keep the love of bikes flowing. As we’re sure all of you will be too. Everyone has had lots of time and looks like we’ll have plenty more, to contemplate what the future can look like. So stay in touch with your builds and rides and backyard project dreams, and we will do the same.
We love you all!!! Thanks for sticking with us. We promise that when we can have a real in-person/analog show again that it will not disappoint.

Regarding Miss Lube Rack 1959 as Nancy Pelosi (D’Alesandro) checked various sources and this appears to be False as it was previously posted as 1951,1955 and 1959 Miss Lube Rack with the 1959 version as the most common and believable as Nancy would have been 19 years old in 1959. The rest of the Story is true as per sources found.

ANOTHER CLASSIC FROM THE NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM— 1949 Harley-Davidson WL “45”
Following the Harley-Davidson R Model, the 45 cubic inch WL made a long successful run as a universal motorcycle starting in 1937. The WL was replaced by the Harley-Davidson K Model in 1952, and the middle-weight side-valve Harley-Davidson continued.
While using a slightly lower tech design than the 61 cubic inch OHV EL, the “flathead” WL 45 was the backbone of Harley’s lineup. Not only did it serve well as a courier machine with tens of thousands manufactured for World War II, but also in numerous two and three-wheeled versions. And it was the mount of choice for many police departments. The WL series also enjoyed great commercial service and was the basis of a machine for… for the 750cc, 45 cubic inch Class C racing series which AMA launched in 1934; the Harley-Davidson WR.
For comparison, the WL is the basic model, with the sportier WLD, which used a higher compression ratio, referred to as the Special Sport Solo. Wheel sizes, styling and trim were nearly identical to the “big twin” EL and later FL, but the scaled down WL’s have a shorter wheelbase and less weight which offered more nimble handling. This machine has been painted a special non-stock color, treated to chrome wheels and light bar, a windshield, crash bar, fender guard and a later buddy seat with grab rail.
Ending a long and venerable heritage, the WL model was discontinued, though WL engine production continued through 1973 for the three-wheeled Servi-Car. Competing better with British offerings, the 1952 K Model was Harley’s first production machine with rear suspension with the big twins following in 1958.
When you visit the National Motorcycle Museum you can see this personalized 1949 WL on loan to the National Motorcycle Museum from Clyde Zedick. But there is also a second 1949 WL in red on loan from the Antique Motorcycle Foundation that’s a bit closer to stock trim. There are also 65-plus other machines helping to tell the history of Harley-Davidson. Harleys on display range from a 1909 single to a great 2003 100th Anniversary CVO Road King donated by Bill Philben. In addition there are hundreds of posters, prints, photographs and advertising materials, plus apparel, signage, parts and packaging all giving you a tremendous review of Harley-Davidson history.

Coming Up February 18
California’s Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission will hold a virtual meeting on February 18 at 8:30 am, giving the powersports industry, local concessions, and enthusiasts another opportunity to weigh in about the possible curtailing and phasing-out of OHV use at the famed Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area.

Vance & Hines Announces Sponsorship Program for 2021 AFT Series Valued at Over $70,000— Santa Fe Springs CA – Vance & Hines, one of the nation’s premier performance motorcycle accessory manufacturers, announced a full slate of contingency sponsorship payouts for the 2021 American Flat Track (AFT) racing season.
The program includes payouts for the top five riders in each class for every event and a $5,000 bonus for each class champion. In total, the company is offering riders $73,650 in 2021.
Vance & Hines produces the XG750R motorcycle for Harley-Davidson, which competes in the AFT Production Twins class. Race teams purchase the bikes directly through the Vance & Hines Racing Development Center in Brownsburg, IN.
The company’s 2021 AFT contingency sponsorship provides cash awards to the first through fifth finishers in AFT SuperTwins, AFT Production Twins and AFT Singles at each of the 17 races on the schedule. The payouts range from $500 for first place to $50 for fifth place, with $1150 available per class at each event. At the end of the season, Vance & Hines will offer a $5000 bonus to the number one finisher in each class.
To qualify for the contingency payments, riders must run an eligible Vance & Hines exhaust system, a Vance & Hines decal on their race bike and have a Vance & Hines patch on their racing leathers.
WASHINGTON STATE Bills Put Crosshairs Squarely on Gas-Powered Cars—
The state would vault to the forefront of the movement to purge fossil fuels from automotive fleets under bills introduced in the Legislature to ban registration of new gas- and diesel-powered vehicles in 2030.
House Bill 1204 and Senate Bill 5256 cover new model passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks, and would kick in at the start of the next decade. The bills call for these vehicles — to be registered in Washington state — to use an electric battery or hydrogen. They put no sunset date on the ownership and sale of 2029 or earlier model gas- and diesel-powered vehicles.
Electric cars — if charged by power generated from sources such as wind, solar, nuclear or hydro — can be a key part of a global push to reduce carbon emissions that drive climate change. The push to electrify cars gained momentum last month when General Motors announced a goal of ending the sale of internal combustion engines by 2035.
But the Washington bills are facing behind-the-scenes pushback from state Attorney General Bob Ferguson, whose legislative director has not submitted public testimony but in an email to two legislators expressed “serious concerns” about the bills.
In the Jan. 28 email, Yasmin Trudeau cautioned that should the proposal become law, it would face a swift legal challenge in federal court from opponents who would argue the state had exceeded its authority under the federal Clean Air Act. Trudeau wrote, “we would very likely lose in district court” and set an unfavorable precedent.
California is the only state granted an exemption from the federal Clean Air Act to set its own emission standards for automobiles. Other states, including Washington, can choose to follow the tougher California standards, which Gov. Gavin Newsom — in an executive order last year — said should include a 2035 end to sales of new gasoline and diesel-powered passenger vehicles.
But California’s legal authority under the Clear Air Act exemption has come attack through federal rule-making under the Trump administration, and is being litigated. And the new California 2035 standard — once it becomes a formal rule — also is likely to face legal challenges.
Trudeau, in her email, said that litigation filed against the Washington legislation could complicate efforts to move forward with the California phaseout of gas vehicles.
In response to a Seattle Times inquiry about the email, a spokesperson for Ferguson said the attorney general “supports the policy objective behind this legislation,” and would defend any laws passed by the Legislature. The spokesperson, Brionna Aho, said, “To assist the Legislature with advancing the policy objectives of this legislation in a way most likely to survive legal challenge, we presented preliminary legal concerns for the Legislature to consider.”
Proponents of the Washington bills say they have structured the legislation in a way they hope will sidestep that federal preemption against states other than California setting rules that regulate emissions standard, and thus survive a legal challenge.
The bills’ language leaves out any intent to lower emissions. Instead it describes an effort to boost the Washington economy by shifting to lower-cost fuels largely produced from regional electricity. The bills also cite the need to reduce water pollution, which is not part of the federal preemption, caused by fossil fuels that drip from vehicles.
“There are many other reasons to switch from gas to electric besides emission reductions — useful life of the vehicle, fueling and maintenance costs,” wrote state Rep. Nicole Macri, D-Seattle, a House sponsor of the legislation, in response to Trudeau’s email.
The legislation has been championed by Matthew Metz, a Washington attorney who founded and co-executive director of Coltura, a nonprofit calling for a “gasoline-free America.” Metz said that action by 2030 is needed to give the state a chance for meeting ambitious targets set by the Legislature for cutting almost all greenhouse-gas emissions by 2050.
He also said passage of the bill also would bolster the case for proposing a national target to phase out internal combustion engines in 2030, rather than 2035 as Newsom has proposed for California.
“This will help push the whole thing forward,” Metz said.
In response to the concerns raised by the state Attorney General’s office, Metz has proposed amending the language in the bills, so that any regulation to carry out the Washington law does not take effect until Jan. 1, 2025. He said that would fend of lawsuits until that date, and by then, any legal issues surrounding California’s standards should be resolved…

THE ROLLING STONE STEPS UP–
Rolling Stone this week added its voice to a number of media outlets, like Phys.org and Business Insider, falsely asserting a connection between climate change and COVID-19. In reality, if a modestly warming Earth has any impact on viruses and pandemics, it is to make them less likely and less severe.
In the article, “How Climate Change Is Ushering in a New Pandemic Era,” the author writes, “[a] warming world is expanding the range of deadly diseases and risking an explosion of new zoonotic pathogens from the likes of bats, mosquitoes, and ticks.” The article is long on assertions, touching anecdotes, and personal stories but short on facts and scientific evidence.
Transmissible diseases like the flu and the coronavirus are far more prevalent and deadly during the late-fall, winter, and early spring, when the weather is cold and damp, rather than in the summer months when it is warm and dry. That is the primary reason that flu season runs from fall through early spring, and then peters out. Similarly, colds are called colds because they are less common in the summer, as well.
Historically, we know that the Black Plague arose and ran rampant in Europe and elsewhere during the Little Ice Age.
Chapter 7 of the Non-governmental International Panel on Climate Change’s report of Climate Change Reconsidered: Biological Impacts details the results of dozens of peer-reviewed studies and reports showing premature deaths from illness and disease are far more prevalent during colder seasons and colder climate eras rather than during warmer seasons and warmer climate eras.
In 2010, BBC health correspondent Clare Murphy analyzed mortality statistics from the UK’s Office of National Statistics from 1950 through 2007 and found, “For every degree the temperature drops below 18C [64 degrees Fahrenheit], deaths in the UK go up by nearly 1.5 percent.”
U.S. Interior Department analyst Indur Goklany studied official U.S. mortality statistics and found similar results. According to official U.S. mortality statistics, an average of 7,200 Americans die each day during the months of December, January, February, and March, compared to 6,400 each day during the rest of the year.
In an article published in the Southern Medical Journal in 2004, W. R. Keatinge and G. C. Donaldson noted, “Cold-related deaths are far more numerous than heat-related deaths in the United States, Europe, and almost all countries outside the tropics, and almost all of them are due to common illnesses that are increased by cold.”
More recently, in a study published in the peer-reviewed medical journal Lancet in 2015, researchers examined health data from 384 locations in 13 countries, accounting for more than 74 million deaths—a huge sample size from which to draw sound conclusions. The researchers found cold weather, directly or indirectly, killed 1,700% more people than hot weather. No, that is not a typo – 1,700% more people die from cold temperatures than warm or hot temperatures.
And Rolling Stone’s assertion that climate change will cause vector-borne diseases to spread to new regions is refuted by the vast body of scientific literature detailed in Chapter Four of Climate Change Reconsidered II: Fossil Fuels.
Studies from throughout the world repeatedly find any link between global warming and the spread of malaria, Dengue fever, West Nile virus, and other vector-borne diseases, are either grossly overstated or outright false.
For example, a 2010 study in the peer-reviewed science journal Nature:
compared historical and contemporary maps of the range and incidence of malaria and found endemic/stable malaria is likely to have covered 58% of the world’s land surface around 1900 but only 30% by 2007. They report, ‘even more marked has been the decrease in prevalence within this greatly reduced range, with endemicity falling by one or more classes in over two-thirds of the current range of stable transmission.’ They write, ‘widespread claims that rising mean temperatures have already led to increases in worldwide malaria morbidity and mortality are largely at odds with observed decreasing global trends in both its endemicity and geographic extent.’
Also, in a 2008 article in the Malaria Journal, Pasteur Institute of Paris professor Paul Reiter wrote:
“Simplistic reasoning on the future prevalence of malaria is ill-founded; malaria is not limited by climate in most temperate regions, nor in the tropics, and in nearly all cases, ‘new’ malaria at high altitudes is well below the maximum altitudinal limits for transmission, [continuing] future changes in climate may alter the prevalence and incidence of the disease, but obsessive emphasis on ‘global warming’ as a dominant parameter is indefensible; the principal determinants are linked to ecological and societal change, politics and economics.”
The COVID-19 pandemic is scary enough without pop-media outlets like Rolling Stone hyping unwarranted fears of a link to climate change. Rolling Stone should stick to what it does best, covering music and pop culture. When it comes to science, Rolling Stone is about as knowledgeable and authoritative as Madonna.

INTERMOT and AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building 2020 Canceled–
Koelnmesse, the international exhibition center at Cologne, Germany (that organizes the biennial INTERMOT expo for the German motorcycle trade association/IVM), has announced that it has had to cancel this year’s planned October INTERMOT.
Therefore, AMD will not be able to stage this year’s much-anticipated World Championship of Custom Bike Building at the venue and time planned. With nearly 100 custom bikes already slated to compete, and builders expected to travel to the event from some 30 or so countries, this is obviously a blow for the custom bike market.
However, there are bigger issues at play here. Koelnmesse stated that it “took this decision not least in the interest of the health of exhibitors and visitors. In contrast to trade fairs with a B2B orientation, major events such as INTERMOT draw tens of thousands of private visitors on all days of the trade fair; the hall space is limited and the time available is short.
“Spatial proximity and the shared experience of the trade fair form an integral part of the character of this event. At this point in time, the specifications currently in effect that have been issued by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI – the German government health institute), policy makers and the public authorities cannot be met at major events. This is compounded by uncertainties on the part of numerous customers and the complicated travel situation.
The next INTERMOT will be from 5-9 October 2022 in Cologne. “We regret that the overall situation leaves us no other choice.”

Like all exhibition organizers throughout the world, Koelnmesse is aware that 2020 is clearly going to prove to be a watershed year in terms of how consumer and B2B trade fairs and exhibitions are operated. They went on to say that in future, such events “will incorporate more hybrid elements to supplement the on-site experience with added digital reach. All stakeholders involved now have enough time to prepare accordingly for the next INTERMOT in Cologne, and to make it, once again, the meeting place of the international motorcycle community.
However, there are now a difficult series of decisions ahead for the AMD World Championship. Owner and AMD Publisher Robin Bradley says: “We unequivocally back the organizer’s decision – it has been a tough call, but regardless of how the next few months look in public health terms, the safety of all concerned is not helped by taking risks that cannot be fully mitigated.
“If INTERMOT still wishes to host the ‘AMD’ as part of its INTERMOT Customized involvement in the custom motorcycle market in October 2022, then great, that is certainly something that we would look at.
At this stage uncertainty is the only thing we can be sure of!”

“The Indian Chief is a truly iconic motorcycle and what better way to celebrate its 100th birthday than unleashing an entirely new Indian Chief lineup,” said Mike Dougherty, President of Motorcycles. “These bikes capture the mechanical simplicity and attitude of classic American V-twins, yet bring it all forward with modern sophistication and features. We could not be more thrilled to bring this new platform into our lineup.”
The new Indian Chief lineup marks the intersection of simplicity and power. Mechanical and simple, Chief models are based on a classic steel welded tube frame. The lineup features a four-gallon fuel tank, bobbed rear fender, dual outboard preload-adjustable rear shocks, dual exhaust, LED lighting, keyless ignition, and Pirelli Night Dragon tires. Along with cruise control, Chief riders can adjust throttle response by selecting one of three ride modes: sport, standard or tour.
Featuring a short wheelbase of 64-inches, a low seat height of 26-inches and a wet weight as low as 670 pounds, the Indian Chief lineup inspires confidence and is approachable for any rider. The Chief’s conventional 46mm front forks with 5.2-inches of travel, 28.5-degree lean angle, and comfortable ergonomics, create a capable machine for even the most technical of ride routes.
“We wanted to capture a timeless look that never goes out of style, and looks beautiful whether naked or fully dressed,” said Ola Stenegard, Director, Industrial Design for Indian Motorcycle. “We also wanted to keep it simple enough to allow riders’ imaginations to take flight with personalization options and possibilities. Ultimately, this is a bike that evokes emotion with simple mechanical styling and raw American muscle. It’s a pure riding machine.”
Offering base and premium models, the Indian Chief trim levels are detailed as follows:
Chief, Chief Bobber, Super Chief
Powered by Indian Motorcycle’s Thunderstroke 111 powertrain with 108 ft-lbs of torque. Each model features an analog gauge, chrome and matte black finishes, and is available with or without ABS.
Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse, Super Chief Limited
Powering all premium Chief models is Indian Motorcycle’s Thunderstroke 116 engine with 120 ft-lbs of torque. ABS is standard, while premium finishes set these bikes apart and further showcase the craftsmanship and attention to detail. Each Chief and Chief Bobber Dark Horse model packs further attitude with premium gloss black finishes, while the Super Chief Limited touts premium chrome finishes.
Additionally, each model delivers a premium experience with Indian Motorcycle’s industry-first ‘4 Inch Round Display with RIDE COMMAND.’ Riders can operate the RIDE COMMAND system through grip controls or via the digital IPS touchscreen display. Riders can cycle through multiple interfaces, including two different gauge configurations, bike and ride information, and turn-by-turn navigation with connected services featuring weather and traffic overlays. If using a wireless helmet communicator, riders can control their music within the RIDE COMMAND system once their phone is paired via Bluetooth or USB. Riders can also access phone information, including recent calls, contacts, number pad and text message history. When connected, incoming calls will appear and can be accepted or declined directly through the RIDE COMMAND system.

Chief & Chief Dark Horse
The Indian Chief and Chief Dark Horse feature stripped-down, mechanical styling highlighted by drag handlebars, 19-inch cast wheels, mid-mount foot controls, a slim headlight bucket and a solo bobber seat. The Indian Chief starts at $14,499 and is available in Black Metallic, White Smoke and Ruby Smoke, while the Chief Dark Horse starts at $16,999 and is offered in Black Smoke, Alumina Jade Smoke and Stealth Gray.
Chief Bobber & Chief Bobber Dark Horse
Mini-ape hanger handlebars paired with forward foot controls provide a more upright and commanding riding position. The Chief Bobber and Chief Bobber Dark Horse sit on 16-inch wire wheels, add fork and shock covers, and features a large headlight bucket wrapped in a nacelle. The Indian Chief Bobber, starting at $15,999, is available in two paint options, Black Metallic and Ruby Metallic. The Chief Bobber Dark Horse starts at $ $18,999 and is available in Black Smoke, Titanium Smoke, and Sagebrush Smoke.
Super Chief & Super Chief Limited
Designed for comfort, the Super Chief and Super Chief Limited stand apart with a quick release windscreen, black leather saddlebags, touring seat with passenger pad, floorboards and traditional cruiser handlebars. The Indian Super Chief and Super Chief Limited feature 16-inch wire wheels, large headlight bucket with nacelle, fork covers, and a full chrome exhaust that delivers a premium fit and finish. Starting at $18,499, the Super Chief is available in Black Metallic and Pearl White, while the Super Chief Limited begins at $20,999 and is available in Black Metallic, Blue Slate Metallic, and Maroon Metallic.
Chief riders will have access to over 80 accessories, including parts specifically designed for Chief models, as well as several existing pieces available for Scout and Thunderstroke models. Indian Motorcycle’s accessory line has been designed to enhance performance, personalize style and add rider comfort. Among the accessories available, include:
Performance
Indian Motorcycle’s performance offerings are built to improve throttle response and increase horsepower and torque for quicker, snap-on acceleration. Riders can purchase a front-facing air intake, Stage 1 slip-on muffler, as well as slash cut and fish tail exhaust tips. Chief riders packing a Thunderstroke 111 can add Indian Motorcycle’s Stage 3 116 Big Bore kit to their Stage 1 exhaust and performance air intake to gain approximately 20% more horsepower and improve throttle response.
Style
Riders can complete their desired custom look by personalizing with a variety of parts, including solo racks and rack bag, low and mid windshields, and a high flow air intake. Riders also have five handlebar options, including eight-inch mini-ape hangers, five-inch mid-rise, reduced reach, cruiser and drag handlebars.
Comfort
To continue offering accessories for all personal and riding styles, Indian Motorcycle’s comfort package includes mid and tall windshields, passenger backrests, highway bars, and Pathfinder S LED driving lights.
In addition to parts, Indian Motorcycle is debuting a new Chief apparel collection, with three unique lines to choose from. From the lean, mean attitude of the Chief, the old-school muscle of Chief Bobber or the road-warrior glory of Super Chief, three unique lines of shirts and hats coincide with each model.

PREPARING for “Yardi Gras” in New Orleans–
Most of the traditional Mardi Gras activities in New Orleans have been canceled this year because of the ongoing pandemic. But locals have spent their time and effort working on safe alternative celebrations to keep the spirit of Carnival alive—including the decoration of hundreds of houses in the style of Mardi Gras floats.
The Krewe of House Floats has worked with people across the city and is listing participants on a map. Gathered below are a handful of images of this year’s socially distant “Yardi Gras,” as New Orleanians prepare for Mardi Gras on February 16.

With Biden administration cabinet members being nominated and confirmed, we have a clearer picture on policy direction that will shape our industry. LETTER TO THE BIKERNET EDITORIAL BOARD— Just like to pay a tribute to Jon Towle.
Through your introduction I approached him to draw a cartoon for use on a t-shirt.
This was to support my Southern Cross Ride for Depression where I rode my 1970 Shovelhead from the bottom of Australia to the top, and then from east to west and back again, some 9000 miles, much of it through the outback. Which included bushfires and floods.
The cartoon was titled “Racing the devil of depression.”

The first pic is me on the edge of a huge bushfire, while the second pic shows Jane and I about to leave on the Western Australia leg proudly displaying the shirts.

A wonderful gesture that I’d like to see more people aware of.
