2008 HARLEY’S HEROES TOUR ROLLS ACROSS AMERICA–MILWAUKEE — (May 15, 2008)–Thanks to a $1 million pledge from the Harley-Davidson Foundation, the 2008 Harley’s Heroes Tour to support the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and its Mobile Service Office program will make stops at Harley-Davidson dealerships around the country from May through November. This is the second year of the Harley’s Heroes tour. The mission of Harley’s Heroes is to provide access to benefits for all veterans and show appreciation for their service and sacrifice to our country.

The tour provides benefits counseling to veterans who have service-connected disabilities but may never have filed a benefits claim. The Mobile Service Office units will appear at various dealer events recognizing veterans and will be staffed by highly trained DAV National Service Officers, all of them wartime disabled veterans.

In 2007, the inaugural tour produced great results. More than 180 Harley-Davidson dealers hosted events serving more than 7,000 veterans.

“Harley’s Heroes continues to connect veterans to the benefits they are entitled to receive, and we are proud to join our Harley-Davidson dealers in supporting the men and women who have served our country,” said Gail Lione, President of the Harley-Davidson Foundation.

Many veterans who need the free help the DAV will provide through Harley’s Heroes are among the 1.4 million service men and women who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to data released by the Department of Veterans Affairs, 25 percent of those veterans have already filed claims for benefits.

“In the truest sense of our mission to build better lives for disabled veterans, Harley’s Heroes will enable the DAV to reach a greater number of veterans and their families.” said Arthur H. Wilson, National Adjutant of the 1.4 million-member DAV. “Many of our youngest veterans are unaware of the benefits they have earned. Informing those veterans of their rights will be a most important task of the DAV during the 2008 Harley’s Heroes? Tour.”

CARB DECISION REGARDING ON-HIGHWAY MOTORCYCLE STANDARDS–EPA Highlight: The new standards for on-highway motorcycles will require a significant reduction in emissions to 0.8g/km of HC+NOx for the model year 2008. Because the Clean Air Act gives many states the ability to require the sale of California-certified vehicles, CARB is predicting that these new standards will most likely affect motorcycles sold in all 50 states. Contact TET for emissions testing information.

Reminder: EPA is changing the distribution system for guidance letters to manufacturers. The letters will be available only on their website for viewing and/or downloading and will not be sent out via mail or email. If you are not currently on EPA?s distribution list, contact EPA or TET for more information and instructions on subscribing.

After attracting over 6,000 ride-in visitors last year, Twin Club has arranged, once again, to have a bridge connecting the park with the port side with an increased amount of space on the port side.

Given that last year’s World Champion, Stellan Egeland, debuted his winning bike at Norrtelje, expectations are high for this year’s show and, once again, this year’s Best of Show winner will go to the World Championship final in Sturgis, USA, and the 2nd and 3rd prize winners will go to the European Championship in Mainz, Germany. The prize fund to cover these expenses (8,000 Euros in total) is sponsored by Twin Club MC.

In addition there is a collection of prizes for the other classes in the Custom Bike Show totaling more than 40,000 Euros. The full listing of show classes in addition to the Best of Show is H-D Chopper, Custom, Classic Custom, Chopper, Trike, Classic, Best Paint and People’s Choice.

BIKERNET’S ALL NEW FINANCIAL SEMINAR–A Jewish woman says to her mother, ‘I’m divorcing Sheldon! All he wants is anal sex, and my asshole is now the size of a 50 cent piece when it used to be about the size of a nickel.’

Her mother says, ‘You’re married to a multi-millionaire businessman, you live in an 8 bedroom mansion, you drive a Ferrari, you get $2,000 a week allowance, you take 6 vacations a year and you want to throw all that away over 45 cents?’
