Just looked at that russian bike on the site, and maybe I’m way off here. I read that it had a headlamp off a sportster. I no engineer, but it very closely resembles a VROD headlamp. Am I Whacked?

BIKERNET BUELL BLAST REPORT REVIEW–By any chance to you know the gal that wrote the article: Buell Blast For The Harley Hesitant My Solution For Intimidation. By Nyla Olsen.

I would really like to thank her for writing this. Last summer at the age of 56, I finally took the H-D Riders Edge Classes and passed (much to my amazement) in 90 degree heat. Hubby being a nice guy insisted on buying me an ’07 1200L Sportster. The power of the Sportster reminds me of trying ride a wild mustang compared to the Buell Blast I learned on.

Her article really hit the nail on the head for me. I am glad to know I’m not the only one that feels this way about all that power.

If you can let her know ……I really appreciated her taking the time to write about her experience.

SCOTT JACOBS ARTWORK

FATHER’S DAY REMINDER FROM SCOTT JACOBS–It?s about time to start thinking about what to get dad for Father?s Day. Something special from the studio might be just the thing to make dad?s day.

There are only two images in Scott?s portfolio of works which were produced in a smaller size: Shaken not Stirred and After the Ride and since Shaken was the Mother?s Day special we thought it only fitting to have After the Ride, (one of Scott best selling and most sought after works), designated as the Father?s Day Special.

This is also the first work Scott painted which did not include a motorcycle as subject and was the catalyst for the entire LIFESTYLE SERIES of images.

Here?s the deal?.After the Ride normally sells in this size (26? x 19? overall) for $750 framed but just for this coming Father?s Day it can be acquired for $495 with custom frame. Also Scott will add a second signature and personalization for dad on the back of the frame. (framed version is attached to this email) Regards, Ron 303-431-4453

ROGER GOLDAMMER SPEAKS OUT–It is not my choice to write this at all, but I feel the need to do it? personal things should be kept personal, but when it isn?t and the information is very false..,I think people should have the opportunity to find out the truth.

Letters were sent to many people businesses and blogs, by ?people? representing Brenda Fox, in particular a person with a tag of WebMama, going by the name ?Hope,? which is not her real name. I called her place of work and they have no knowledge of her. This person refuses to discuss this matter, as is Brenda and is very unaware of the facts herself, yet is compelled to send out false info to people she does not know at all, people I work with, many of you friends.

Those of you who know me know who and what I am all about. The truth is that I have done everything in MY power to help Brenda for a very long time now, longer than the ten months ago, when I found out about her condition.

Brenda is a wonderful person, and she is up against a lot. I encourage you all to help her in any way you can, as I will continue to, but I offer and encourage any and all of you to feel free to call or e-mail me to discuss this further if you are interested in the truth? 250 764-8002

I am sorry to have to bring this up at all, I have tried to be a certain type of person my whole life, but when anyone starts to preach otherwise, I get more than offended.

Thanks for your time,

–Roger Goldammer

KING REPORT– Hey,Just returned from the shop, and they got me in and out in about half an hour. The male end of the check valve assembly had a couple of small wear/corrosion spots on it that caused the misalignment and subsequent failure. Replaced under warranty.

Something to watch out for: One of the techs told me that pranksters are sometimes messing with the QC fuel line assembly on the FI bikes. Easy to do by just pushing up on the chrome sleeve and pulling down on the valve/hose assembly.

To seat the valve, push up on the sleeve, up on the valve (you’ll hear it click into position) and release the sleeve.

AMD OFFICIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF CUSTOM BIKE BUILDING–Heading into its 5th anniversary year, 2008 sees the AMD Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building once again bringing together an outstanding collection of the year?s best engineered custom bikes from around the world. With entries literally spanning the globe, the event showcases some of the outstanding talent, design, ability, craftsmanship and engineering excellence that the custom motorcycle industry boasts.

Started in 2004, the inaugural World Championship was staged at Custom Chrome?s Morgan Hill, CA, headquarters dealer show. After a stint in Las Vegas in 2005, the World Championship moved to Sturgis in 2006, with a permanent move to its current Champions Park facility last year.

Located between Lazelle and 3rd Street, the World Championship venue, named Champions Hall, is an impressive 25,000 sq ft structure right in the heart of the action in downtown Sturgis. Conveniently located, Champions Hall provides visitors the opportunity to see the best engineered bikes the world?s builders have to offer, including many international bikes that will only ever be seen here in the United States for the four days of the Championship. Most builders will be on-site to answer any questions and chat at length about their ideas, inspiration and motivation behind their living, running, riding works of art.

With 4 classes of motorcycles being judged, the Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building has something to offer every visitor to Champions Hall. Each class brings its own unique twist on the motorcycle industry and is the basis on which each bike is judged.

The Freestyle Class is just that, free of constraints and directive. It is, in effect, an anything goes, no holds barred collection of custom motorcycles. Any type, style, engine configuration, color, graphic or design can be entered in the Freestyle Class. The WORLD CHAMPION is chosen from this class of entries and it is here that the builders really must bring their ?A? game in order to not just win but to even place high in the order of bikes entered. It?s the cream of the crop, the best of the best, all entered into Freestyle.

The Modified Harley-Davidson Class harkens back to the days when customizers did their own work, without the benefit of aftermarket frames and engines. To be considered for the category, the motorcycle must have and be based on an original equipment Harley-Davison engine and frame. Any amount of modification is allowed but the motorcycle had to begin life as a Harley.

The Production Class sees the many production manufacturers from around the world enter their creations for not only judging against their peers but also for you to be able to shop and see the latest each company has to offer the general public. It also offers the manufacturers the opportunity to showcase the next generation of production bikes you may see on the dealer floors. The Production Class has seen entries from well known brands such as Big Dog Motorcycles, Big Bear Choppers, Swift Motorcycle Co. and Confederate Motorcycle Co. just to name a few.

Last but certainly not least, the Metric Class brings some of the innovators in using metric based parts and components to Sturgis and Champions Hall. With metric cruisers growing in popularity, this class represents the extremes that can be achieved using metric componetry. Past winners and entrants have included Jesse Rooke, Roger Goldammer and Scott Britt.

Judging at the AMD Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building is based not on a certain set of criteria but is formed on the basis of peer group review. Each builder entered into the World Championship judges the bikes of the other competitors and the votes are tallied at the end of the event. The best person to judge another bike is a builder. The competitor with the most total points wins and becomes- ?Official World Champion Custom Bike Builder? for the year.

Unique to the Championship for 2008 will be the inclusion of some very special custom motorcycles, all produced in conjunction with S&S Cycle as a part of that company?s 50th anniversary celebration held this summer. Some of the best known and most famous builders in the world have come together to produce one-of-a-kind bikes using different S&S powerplants, each holding a unique serial number from 1958 to 2007 as a tribute to the 50 years of S&S.

Visitors to Champions Hall can also visit the displays of the forward-thinking Official World Championship Partners, each of whom are committed to supporting and growing the custom motorcycle market and rewarding those whose creativity and design stand out above their builder peers. These partners include Kustomwerks, Helmet City Inc, Hot Bike Magazine, S&S Cycle, Dragonfly Roadhouse, BDL, Big Dog Motorcycles, Custom Chrome, Baker Drivetrain, Rivera Primo, Ultima, J&P Cycles, Kibblewhite, and Avon Tyres.

Champions Hall, home of the Official World Championship, is open 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Sunday 2 August through Wednesday 6 August. The new World Champion will be crowned at the exciting awards ceremonies on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.

POUR ME A JACK–The lovely Sin Wu was called for Jury duty and I was sequestered here at the headquarters to finalize the news. Don’t get me started, I’ll snivel all over the table. She brought me a Jack on the Rocks to reduce the pain.

It’s memorial day weekend and time to party, but don’t forget the guys who fought for our free nation. Also, don’t forget to keep up the fight. You see me mention motorcycle rights organizations often in the new. These guys spend their lives struggling to keep our lifestyle free. Find out what your local organization struggles with and support them. These guys don’t make a dime, but spend a great deal of money and time dealing with state politicians, educating voters and training new riders.

Have a helluva weekend.

Ride Forever,

–Bandit
