SUNDAY POST CELEBRATION–IT’S MOTORCYCLE MONTH ACROSS THE COUNTRY

laughlin cutie1

It’s a warm Summer like Sunday and the road is calling. The other night Spring clammored in the air. The Cantina partied with six woman and three guys out front while I hid out in the shop with the woman of my dreams. We listened to the old walls rattle while we made hot, old school jams, of our own. I didn’t get out of bed until the fights broke out.

I received the first permit issued for this building in 1923 for a 45 room, class D, hotel. The Catalina Hotel. Ya see Wrigley, the guy who owned Catalina Island, set up a street, Avalon, directly from Downtown Los Angeles to the harbor in Wilmington. For years folks loaded aboard steamships, two blocks from this hotel, built one block off Avalon and shipped out to Catalina. I need to hit up the folks at the historic society for old shots of this joint. I’ll share them as soon as they come across.

Let’s hit the news:

Four Corners In Trouble Once More

Just got this notice, thought you might be interested. You probably knew before it happened. I have always accepted the indian casinos because they (some) have great concerts. It’s still a tax on the poor, but that’s economics (real life not to be confused with fun life). Now some one else to boycott. Where is Jose and his words when I need him?

Ride Fast
–Mick McMahan

Hey Leroy, you’ll be pissed when you hear why it was cancelled. So pass the word of what really happened. I first herd about it Friday night. Chris at Big Dog told me that some people come in the grill and took down all the advertisements for rally. They told Chris they didn’t know why it was cancelled. Anyway, my roommate knows the promoter, Kenny Cup, K & K Productions, who was putting it on and called him Saturday morning. The promoter said that the casino called him on Friday and told him that the Tribal Governor doesn’t like bikers and didn’t want them hanging around all weekend.

That is why it is cancelled – one prejudice person got into power and cancelled the whole dam thing. He could have said NO in the first place and it could have been held somewhere else. The casino broke all kinds of contracts. The promoter is furious. He has already paid for each of the bands to play there. He is not going to get anything back in return. Supposedly, the casino will now get all the money for the concerts. The promoter said that he could probably sue the casino and win.

On the other hand, he wouldn’t get any money from the casino because it is a sovereign nation. It gets worse. The casino told the promoter that he must not put up any kind of advertisements, posters, etc. stating that the

K & K Productions has put on this Renegade Rally in California, Texas, Colorado, and Georgia. He said that it has always been a great success until now. Thanks fucking Alvino

Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier Facts

1. How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the tomb of the Unknowns and why? 21 steps. It alludes to the twenty-one gun salute, which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.

2. How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why? 21 seconds for the same reason as answer number 1.

3. Why are his gloves wet? His gloves are moistened to prevent his losing his grip on the rifle.

4. Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time, and if not, why not? He carries the rifle on the shoulder away from the tomb. After his march across the path, he executes an about face, and moves the rifle to the outside shoulder.

5. How often are the guards changed? Guards are changed every thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year

6. What are the physical traits of the guard limited to? For a person to apply for guard duty at the tomb, he must be between 5′ 10″ and 6′ 2″ tall and his waist size cannot exceed 30″.

Other requirements of the Guard: They must commit 2 years of life to guard the tomb, live in a barracks under the tomb, and cannot drink any alcohol on or off duty for the rest of their lives.

They cannot swear in public for the rest of their lives and cannot disgrace the uniform {fighting}or the tomb in any way.

After two years, the guard is given a wreath pin that is worn on their lapel signifying they served as guard of the tomb. There are only 400 presently worn.

The guard must obey these rules for the rest of their lives or give up the wreath pin.

The shoes are specially made with very thick soles to keep the heat and cold from their feet. There are metal heel plates that extend to the top of the shoe in order to make the loud click as they come to a halt.

There are no wrinkles, folds or lint on the uniform. Guards dress for duty in front of a full-length mirror.

The first six months of duty a guard cannot talk to anyone, nor watch TV. All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

A guard must memorize who they are and where they are interred. Among the notables are: President Taft, Joe E. Lewis {the boxer} and Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, {the most decorated soldier of WWII}of Hollywood fame.

Every guard spends five hours a day getting his uniforms ready for guard duty.

WOW – TALK ABOUT COMMITTMENT!!!

CODE OF THE WEST

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming –“WOW”—“What A Ride!”–

Voted Best Short Joke of 2003 For his birthday Little Patrick asked for a 10-speed bicycle. His father said, “Son, we’d give you one, but the mortgage on this house is $80,000 and your mother just lost her job. There’s no way we can afford it.”

The next day the father saw Little Patrick heading out the front door with a suitcase. So he asked, “Son, where are you going?

Little Patrick told him, “I was walking past your room last night and heard you tell mum you were pulling out. Then I heard her tell you to wait because she was coming too. And I’ll be damned if I’m staying here by myself with an $80,000 mortgage and no f—— bike!”

The Flight from London

Two Arabs boarded a flight out of London. One took a window seat and the other sat next to him in the middle seat. Just before takeoff, an American sat down in the aisle seat. After takeoff, the American kicked his shoes off, wiggled his toes and was settling in when the Arab in the window seat said, “I need to get up and get a Coke.”

“Don’t get up,” said the American, “I’m in the aisle seat. I’ll get it for you.” As soon as he left, one of the Arabs picked up the American’s shoe and spit in it.

When he returned with the Coke, the other Arab said, “That looks good, I’d really like one, too.” Again, the American obligingly went to fetch it. While he was gone the other Arab picked up his other shoe and spit in it.

When the American returned, they all sat back and enjoyed the flight. As the plane was landing, the American slipped his feet into his shoes and knew immediately what had happened.

“Why does it have to be this way?” He asked. “How long must this go on? This fighting between our nations? This hatred? This animosity? This spitting in shoes and pissing in Cokes?

Bikernet Medical News

American Medical Association researchers have made a remarkable discovery. It seems that some patients needing blood transfusions may benefit from receiving chicken blood rather than human blood. It tends to make the men cocky and the women lay better.

TRIBUTE TO Andy Thornton May 20 – Feb 1, 2004 From TN

To the greatest man that I have ever known and loved. He would give his last penny or his shirt off his back to help anyone that needed him. He was a loving and kind man with a big soft heart. He especially loved kids and they all loved him. He never met anyone that he didn’t talk to or have a joke to tell them. He was full of life till he took his last breathe on Feb 1, 2004.

He died of a heart attack on that sad day. He loved to ride and was happy when he was on his Vulcan750. He always said when he was riding in the wind he was happy and free to do as he wanted too. He had no worries in the world when he was riding his bike. He loved going around curves and over mountains because he would say that you never know what is on the other side till you get there.

His bike was his pride and joy and he kept “her” spotless. He was my BIG BUDDY and my heart. He is missed so much and will forever be in our hearts. I hope he had a good ride into Heaven and one day I hope to ride with him again. Love you Big Buddy…..From your Little Buddy

We invite you to join us for the ride of your dreams. Coast to Coast. Fourteen States. Twenty-One Cities. Fifteen Days. The United States of America in Full Living Color from Your Handlebars! Hear the rumble of the engines…Pull up your kickstand…Twist the throttle…Here comes “The Spirit of America”!

Wandering over hills, through valleys, up and over several mountain ranges, crossing rivers, passing lakes, cruising through miles of farmland and unforgettable scenery. Winding through America up close and personal. The wind of a nation passes. It is an incredible journey!

The “Spirit of America Ride–for kids worldwide” was created by the goodwill of a group of motorcyclists who together formed an alliance to raise money and to make a difference in a child’s life. At the heart of this group are workers from the recovery of Ground Zero in New York City. The spirit of compassion so apparent everywhere after 9-11 has not died, it lives on through the giving of these Ground Zero veterans and all who participate in the “Spirit of America Ride for Kids Worldwide”. Honoring the past and rebuilding for the future.

The ride travels over 3600 miles coast to coast. Each day the mileage varies according to the terrain. Most days the riders will be on the road for 5 hours or more, some days only a few. Average mileage is 260 miles per day. The riders can ride along with the Road Crew, or take in the day at their leisure, meeting us that evening.

Iraq Benefit

I attended a benefit the other day for a young man who was wounded in Iraq. PFC Alan Babin is a combat medic with the HHC 1/325 82nd Air, PFC Babin was critically wounded on March 31, 2003 while attempting to render aid to a wounded soldier.

As units moved across a bridge over the Euphrates River, a soldier was wounded by small arms fire on the bridge. A cry for a medic was made and PFC Babin without hesitation left his covered position to render aid to the wounded soldier. As PFC Babin ran to the aid of the soldier he too was wounded by small arms fire, which entered his right side and exited his left side. Due to the intensity of the battle, PFC Babin could not be evacuated for 3 hours…

This heartfelt report from Rigid Frame Richard will be posted in it’s entirety tomorrow, hang on.

THAT’S IT, FIRE UP THE BARBECUE–Let’s ride out for some beers, then back for chow this afternoon. Hang on for Laughlin reports next week. Frank is sending two CDs packed with the bikes and babes of Laughlin. It’s hotter than ever.

Indian Larry gettin' some1
Indian Larry partying in Laughlin.

Got a call from Hugh King the director of the Biker Build-offs. He put together a 48-hour Bike Build at the Wagon Wheel on the outskirts of Bullhead City. Cory Ness, Arlen, Indian Larry and Eddie Trotta build a custom in 48 hours. The frame was even offset in the wrong direction and they cut and modified it. When the hot machine was completed they turned it over to Hugh. He’s still shaking, but he deserved this tribute from all of us in the industry. Very Cool.

Let’s ride.
