STURGIS RIDERS ALERT! DRUG AND GUN CHECK–On Interstate 64 Approx. 70 miles East of St. Louis there is a sign ? DRUG & GUN CHECK followed by DRUG DOG.When I rode by on Wednesday there was no one there and that may be because it was raining very heavy and I suspect those doing the stops did not want to get wet.

CARLO AND EMMA ON THE ROAD AGAIN!– We did the Ground Zero run last week. I had goose bumps almost the entire ride. Now imagine this, 600+ motor-sickles cruising down the NYC freeways with a Police escort leading us out of town.

The entire freeway system is shut down no one is able to get on the freeway with us, we (the bikes) are the only ones on the road!!!

We were cruising at about 40mph. We were in the front of the pack so when we looked behind all we saw was a Ribbon of Harley Davidsons.

The roar is music to my ears, the site is spiritual a Run to Honor our Fallen Hero’s from Ground Zero. (You remember when the terrorist ran planes into the twin towers, the Pentagon & the last plane did not make it’s target as the Proud American passengers stood up and said we are not going to go the way you want us to we are in charge of our destination and ran the plane into the ground in PA? You do remember right? Well this is something we should Never Forget!)

The ribbon seems to float along undisturbed the wind carrying us like an Eagle, soaring along our way feeling like the Proud Americans we are, following the police escort 65+ miles still the goose bumps makes the hot day seem “cool” against my skin. We reached our destination, (a little sad that I had to come back to reality) Kruckers in Pomona NY and had an ALL YOU EAT BBQ, ribs, chicken the works plus watermelon and Ice cream.

When we arrived ate lunch my work continued, “A labor of Love and Honor.” I was the emcee!! There were bike games, tattoo contest & a 50/50 raffle live music ALL DAY long this is the BEST run I have ever been on. So let’s see some of you there with us next year OK? OK!!

Carlo & I left Bloomsbury NJ Monday July 29Th., heading for Boston made it here in 6 hours. What nice scenery. Funny how until I came to the east cost I thought like most think of CA that it is just pavement & cars. There are lots of open space. So much History here the beginning of Democracy started in these part.

From here we will meander down to FLA taking in lots more scenic roads. Then back to NYC to meet the Milwaukee crew and head to Harley-Davidson’s 105Th Anniversary.

So come along for the ride and when you see someone ride by on a Motor sickle wave & say to yourself “THIS IS THE LAND OF THE FREE!”

Until we meet again.

Stay safe and “get on your bad motor-scooter and ride”!!!!!!!

Click Baldwin Dies in Motorcycle CrashThe owner of Carolina Harley-Davidson/Buell died in a motorcycle accident in Missoula, Montana– Clifton ‘Click’ Baldwin’s motorcycle collided with a car Tuesday morning. The owner of Carolina Harley-Davidson/Buell died in a motorcycle accident in Missoula, Montana.Clifton “Click” Baldwin’s motorcycle collided with a car Tuesday morning. He was airlifted to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, Montana, and died later that night.

There were 14 fellow members of the Hamster’s Motorcycle Club with Baldwin at the time of the crash.

They were en route to the 68th Annual Sturgis Rally in South Dakota.

Baldwin’s wife, daughter, mother and brother flew to Montana. Several of his friends and fellow Hamster’s members also made the trip to be with the family.Baldwin was a native of Belmont, North Carolina.

On Wednesday, Baldwin’s company released the following written statement: “His generosity was demonstrated over the years through his participation in all fourteen Kyle Petty Charity Rides and through numerous Poker Run’s benefiting local charities, and Victory Junction Gang Camp for chronically ill children.”

In lieu of flowers, the dealership is asking for donations towards “Bricks for Click” to be a part of their memorial sidewalk at the dealership.

road king

BIKERNET TECH TESTIMONIAL–I am now in the market for a new bike and have a lot of ideas running through my head, I’m sure you get messages all the time about certain bikes, parts, techs., rides, etc. But I pretty much stumbled onto your website and the King Report by mistake. My dream bike is very similar to the ’03 king you built up (prob still are riding) and I just wanted to thank you for the things that you have posted. I feel like I have learned a lot from reading your posts.

I do have a quick couple questions though and since it has been so long since those posts, my feelings won’t be too shattered if you dont know the answers. I was wondering if you have a part number or anything on that SE exhaust system? I can’t seem to find it anywhere online, but I have yet to go to the dealerships.

Actually I think that is the major question I had today. I’m sure I will think of something later though.

Thanks a lot hoss, I appreciate your articles.

Hey DJ, Thanks for the note. I would suggest this system for your King?the best performance. Check this link: www.bikernet.com/garage/PageViewer.asp?PageID=2134.

Let me know if you have any other questions. If you?re dead set on the Screamin? Eagle system, I?m sure you can find it in a Harley Accessory catalog, if they still make it. It was stainless steel and I had it blacked out.–Bandit

fatbob poem

FATBOB POEM FRAMED FOR WOJAHN– Here is the famous Wojahn. Tom did my ’46 and great if I say so myself. I wrote him a poem, and I left enough room for him to draw a cartoon of himself. It turned out cool. He is going to redo the passenger door he spelled Davidson wrong. I laughed my ass off.

He was upset and I told him no big deal. It will be done on the morrow.

I watched him letter my neighbors stockcar when I was 14 years old. I think he does great for 82.

CLOSING THE BOOK ON ANOTHER NEWS COLUMN–We’re packing, scrubbing, beating the dogs, and hauling ass for the Badlands. The Sunday Post will be light and next week the news will be short and sweet, but we’re not leaving you holding a empty bag (paper or plastic). We scored Doc’s Hollister report before he left. I may have something on a new fantastic artist from Australia, Paul Garson submitted a short V-Rod radiator tech and there’s something else floating around that might be launched before we hit the road, if I can find the bastard.

nyla bike

As soon as we return we’ll deliver Brouhaha and Sturgis coverage, plus a road test of the Softail Custom from Jon Towle. We’ll work on bike features from Sturgis, Ms. Bikernet from Sturgis and a Girl of Bikernet from the Badlands. We’ll be cooking, including a feature on Nyla’s bobber from Lucky Devil Metal Works in Houston. Here’s some Root Beer Paint Shots. Can’t wait to see this bike. So hang on. We’ll be back.

And here’s the build of the mighty Bikernet Brouhaha Burn-Out Champion trophy. You can’t hardly see it in these shots but the Laser cut Bikernet logo by Kevin Baas is sprinkled with the famous 160 mph Rollin’ Sixers green flake. Watch for more of it on my next bike build, the mudflap girl bike.

burnouttrophy

There’s official H-D air cleaner added to Samson pipes, and now I need to find a spot on the truck for it. Look out. Sunday you’ll see the final best of show trophies custom painted by Jim Murillo.

W8lesspads

W8lesspadsgold

Wait, I’m the test pig for W8Less rotors. I’ve tested two sets of pads and discovered one (red) was a tad tight against the rotor. The W8Less boss pointed out the heavy paint on the back of the rotor. Just removing it could make all the difference.

Ride Forever,
