WARNING FROM THE MIDDLE EAST– This morning, from a cave somewhere in Pakistan, Taliban Minister of Migration, Mohammed Omar, warned the United States that if military action against Iraq continues, Taliban authorities will cut off America’s supply of convenience store managers, and possible candidates for President of the United States.

And if this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell and AOL customer service reps., and then Motel 6 managers.

Mother/Daughter Team, Laura Klock and Erika Cobb, Featured at Sturgis Motorcycle Museum ?First Ladies of Motorcycling? Exhibit– Mitchell, SD – The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the opening of its newest exhibit entitled ?First Ladies of Motorcycling.? The exhibit occupies a room in the museum that has been reserved for exhibits honoring women in motorcycling.

The ?First Ladies? exhibit will include displays about the first women?s transcontinental solo ride in 1916, the first women?s motorcycle club, the first woman motocross contender, the first woman to race superbikes, the first woman to sit on the Motorcycle Industry Council, the first female commercial bike builder, and of course ? Pearl Hoel, the first lady of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Laura Klock and her daughter Erika Cobb are honored to have been asked to be part of the exhibit as they are the first mother/daughter duo to hold land speed records on the Bonneville salt flats at the same time.

Laura Klock is the Vice President of Klock Werks Kustom Cycles in Mitchell, South Dakota, where she and her husband, award winning custom bike builder Brian Klock, work side by side. Their partnership has resulted in completing over 248 new part numbers (so far) which are distributed through Drag Specialties and their website www.kustombaggers.com . Laura piloted the ?World?s Fastest Bagger? to an AMA National Land Speed Record in 2006. In 2007, she piloted the WFB again to an SCTA National Land Speed Record of 146.297. Her personal best on the bagger is 147.359, so far.

Their daughter, Erika, was along for the trip when they were at the salt flats in 2006, and decided that she might like to try racing too. So, in 2007, at the age of 16, she rode a 500cc single cylinder Buell Blast to a new land speed record of 101.359. She also won the Women?s Spirit Award for her valiant efforts, teamwork, camaraderie and for displaying the true spirit of the sport while at the salt flats. Erika?s personal best of the Buell is 107.151.

?We had someone ask us while we were out at the flats in 2007 if we knew if there was ever an instance where a mother and a daughter held records on the salt at the same time. We hadn?t really thought about that, but have since discovered that as far as we know, we are!? said Laura. ?And what an honor to be a part of an exhibit that recognizes, well, pioneers.?

What?s next for the ladies? Laura and Erika are both returning to the salt in 2008, and will be joined by Karlee, Laura?s 14 year old daughter. ?This year Karlee will be piloting Erika?s Buell Blast while Erika will race on a Buell S2. Both know the speeds they are reaching for, and if Karlee gets there, it?s her sister?s record she will beat. It?s a little added incentive for a competitive younger sister. It?s all in fun though. The girls do a great job at encouraging one another,? Laura reports. Laura will be riding the WFB again this year, with plans of higher speeds as well.

Stop by the Sturgis Motorcycles Museum and see the exhibit yourself. And Laura, Erika, Karlee and the Klock Werks Krew will be set up at the Top 50 Rally Park at exit 46 off I-90 for the week of the rally.

SASHA STURGIS FILM PROJECT–My World Artists Productions [MWAP] along with PeakHD Productions will be on location in Sturgis SD, August 2-10, shooting footage for their upcoming hi-def video release, Sturgis Scavenger Hunt Bike Build 2008.

Sturgis is a Mecca for motorcyclists, drawing tens of thousands of riders, builders, and vendors to its legendary annual rally. The premise of the show?devised by MWAP?is to come to Sturgis empty-handed, and build a motorcycle from the ground up, using scavenged parts. MWAP has dubbed their resourceful crew ‘The ReCycle Pirates.’ Unlike all the other bike builders getting airtime these days, The Pirates will come to town with nothing other than drive and ingenuity, leaving with a tricked-out custom motorcycle at the end of seven days.

The idea came in a moment of inspiration at 2007’s Sturgis rally, says MWAP’s David Galinsky. “It just hit me as I walked the streets of Sturgis last year. I saw all the parts available, and I thought: ‘Man, you could slap a bike together in no time if you knew what you were doing.'”

The project demanded an experienced hand at the helm, and Galinsky found a perfect match in custom cycle builder Jerry Jackman of Jackman Custom Cycles.

“We’re lucky to have Jerry, he’s the perfect guy for this kind of project,” says Galinsky. “When I approached him with the idea, he kind of laughed and said ‘Yeah, I can do that.'”

Jackman is no stranger to the idea of a Blitz-build. Before opening his own shop, Jerry and his buddies would compete to see who could build a bike in the shortest time, with the smallest budget, using parts scavenged from anywhere they could get them.

“Sturgis Scavenger Hunt is the same concept, only we have a seven day deadline,” says Galinsky. “With so many vendors and biker-related items available at the Rally, we knew we could get the parts, as well as meet some of Sturgis’s unique characters. The deadline makes it all the more exciting.”

Joining the team as on-air host is Sasha Mullins, a biker-culture celebrity in her own right, Sasha has written two books on the biker lifestyle, and has appeared on Discovery, TLC and BBC television. Sasha is more than just a pretty face, she’s a real, live biker chick, and an inveterate scrounger, so she knows first-hand the thrill of tracking down obscure parts. “I love to scour for treasures and dig around at swap meets,” she bubbles. “When David contacted me about this cool idea, I leapt on the opportunity.”

“Sasha will be invaluable to the process,” Galinsky counters. “She has a great energy, and a deep understanding of what we’re trying to do. When I first spoke with her about the project she ‘got it’ immediately. She was so excited, it got me even more revved -up.”

“The kicker will come at the end when the bike is finished, and we auction it off for charity,” Galinsky continues. The proceeds will be donated to Hungry for Music, a charity established in 1994 to enrich the lives of marginalized youth through music.

“It’s an exciting project for anyone who loves motorcycles and it’s a great way for us to give something back to the community,” Galinsky concludes. “Hungry for Music will produce a concert/event, and we’ll have a big ol’ party. We’ll get some footage, and we’ll help some kids along the way.”

Residents of Sturgis and local businesses in and around the surrounding areas are welcome to open-up their garages and invite the ReCycle Pirates over to scavenger hunt their donations to the project, or stop by and drop off their goods at the official build location 961 Howard Street in Sturgis. To invite the ReCycle Pirates to treasure hunt, contact the production team at 301 523 6656.

We are also going on a mission throughout California to film more of Michael Vick’s former dogs. The film project “VICKtory to the Underdog,” a documentary about the rescue of Mike Vick’s fighting pit bulls, was put on hold in light of the passing of 7, one of the dogs rescued from Vick˙s property. We have begun filming again, and will be filming many celebrities in the coming weeks with their OWN rescued pit bulls. Included in the film is Leo, once a fighting dog in Vick?˙s kennel, now a certified therapy dog in California, bringing happiness and hope to cancer patients and other sick people. You can see some shots of Leo at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jmBqn9njo_0

A preview for the VICKtory project can be viewed here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=MzKyViUYGNQ

We would like to welcome both Danny Trejo (http://youtube.com/watch?v=DCzvME2x6RY) and Michael Berryman (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Jv4MtbouARs) to the VICKtory film project. They were the first two celebrities to join in the project; both actors are already very involved in animal rescue prior to the Vick incident and wish to speak out on the subject in our movie. Danny Trejo is a familiar face in films, having been in From Dusk Till Dawn, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and Rob Zombie’s Halloween. Michael Berryman has also appeared in a Rob Zombie film, The Devil’s Rejects, as well as the iconic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Danny and Debbie Trejo’s Myspace page for animal rescue is http://www.myspace.com/debbietrejo — check out their page and add them as a friend for further animal rescue updates!
