ASSALT WEAPAN RESEARCH– You should check out Denford.com. This dude has a computer program / virtual wind tunnel. Might be good for future reference. We used it once before. He gives you use of the tunnel for a limited period and costs a few bucks. Hope you are getting closer to having the “Weapan” ready.

You are constantly on my mind and all we want is to see a brother succeed.

SETTLEMENT REACHED IN SUIT VS. BILLY LANE– The settlement came 10 months after Morelock’s mother sued Lane, 37, and DaimlerChrysler — which provided Lane with the Dodge pickup truck he was driving — over the fatal crash in which police said Lane crossed a double-yellow line and hit Gerald Morelock’s mini-Yamaha motorcycle.

DaimlerChrysler, chopper builder Billy Lane and the family of a Sebastian Inlet park ranger killed in a Labor Day accident that police say was caused by drunk-driving have reached a confidential settlement, the deceased man’s family said today.

“We would like to personally show our gratitude and heart-filled thanks to all of the people throughout the nation that have showed us their support, love and caring,” Byron Morelock, brother of Gerald Morelock, said in a statement signed by the family.

“My family may not have made it through these hard times if it wasn’t for your caring and sympathy,” he said.

The settlement came 10 months after Morelock’s mother sued Lane, 37, and DaimlerChrysler — which provided Lane with the Dodge pickup truck he was driving — over the fatal crash in which police said Lane crossed a double-yellow line and hit Gerald Morelock’s mini-Yamaha motorcycle.

The suit alleged Lane, who police say had a blood-alcohol level of .192 the night of the accident, and DaimlerChrysler, which the family said used Lane’s fame to advertise its vehicles despite prior driving citations on Lane’s record, were liable for auto negligence.

Byron Morelock said it took about 10 hours of “grueling” debate Monday before an agreement was reached. No details of the agreement were made public.

Lane still faces a criminal trial in which he could be sentenced to a maximum 15 years in prison if convicted of DUI manslaughter.

A trial date has not been set.

The events will take place July 2-6, 2008 at various locations, including the Buell Motorcycle Company facilities in East Troy, Wis. and other surrounding communities.

FOLLOW THE EXCITEMENT WITH VALERIE THOMPSON AS SHE TARGETS BONNEVILLE’S 200 MPH CLUB– The most important time of year for land-speed teams is upon us again. A time when the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah comes alive with racings most unique, exciting and fastest form of racing. It’s a time when records get broken as do the dreams of many who can’t get it done. When my teammates and I arrive, we’ll be prepared and have one goal in mind: to join the infamous and prestigious 200-Mph club. It’s been a year since we last saw the Flats and when we titled our first land-speed record on the worlds fastest pan head, “The Salt Shaker”. The plan for this year is to do it again this time a lot faster and on Keith Balls newest creation, “The Assault Weapon”.

Last year we took the Keith Ball’s “Salt Shaker” into the record books and set the AMA National Land Speed Record on a 120-inch Panhead. We tripped the light at a record shattering speed of 145.647mph. Thanks and congratulations to all of last year’s sponsors and teammates who can proudly say “Were in the record books”.

This year Keith and his team at 5-Ball Racing have been working very diligently on a hardcore one of a kind speed killer appropriately named “The Assalt Weapon”. This ultra Open Panhead (1948-1965 Vintage) was carefully crafted to be long, low and very aerodynamic.

Building on last year’s huge success we are expecting another record and proudly offering the opportunity for a new title sponsor and a few more associate sponsors. If you think this is a good opportunity for your company and want to be part of this history making event and life-time experience, please contact Keith R. Ball at bandit@bikernet.com .

MAYBE THE BEST BIKERNET BLONDE JOKE EVER!– Two blonde girls were working for the city public works department. One would dig a hole and the other would follow behind her and fill the hole in.

They worked up one side of the street, then down the other, then moved on to the next street, working furiously all day without rest, one girl digging a hole, the other girl filling it in again.

An onlooker was amazed at their hard work, but couldn’t understand what they were doing. So he asked the hole digger, “I’m impressed by the effort you two are putting in to your work, but I don’t get it — why do you dig a hole, only to have your partner follow behind and fill it up again?”

The hole digger wiped her brow and sighed, “Well, I suppose it probably looks odd because we’re normally a three-person team. But today the girl who plants the trees called in sick.”

BRASS BALLS NEW MODEL NAME CONTEST CONTINUES–If you wander into the Bikernet Roadtest area you will find a feature on the new Brass Balls model. It’s a very rideable classic, but the staff needs a name. If you come up with the name they use, you’ll receive a Brass Balls T-shirt for every day of the week, plus a Brass Balls shop shirt.

Here’s another entrant: let’s try “Crazyhorse Bar Bobber” It uses the 100″ Crazyhorse motor and it looks like a bar hopper.

TORCHES ACROSS AMERICA MOTORCYCLE RIDE 2007– 11 days’ run in September will honor the Victims, Veterans, and Volunteers of 9-11’s attack

You are invited to join thousands of bikers cruising across America–from California to New York, Washington, The Pentagon, and Pennsylvania–in remembrance of homeland victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. More than a hundred motorcycle riders made the 2,600 mile coast to coast run in 2006! Donate a few weeks’ riding time to parade into New York amid thousands of bikers honoring the victims and first responders who died in the fires of 9/11, or join the Torches Across America Run when it passes through your area.

This nationwide motorcycle run expresses our appreciation for:
1) the 3,000 victims of the attack on September 11, 2001
2) the first responders who volunteered to enter flaming towers to help save others’ lives, and
3) the armed forces veterans who protect us. As Abraham Lincoln spoke at Gettysburg: “They have not died in vain.”

This fall you may ride along with some or all of these intrastate parades, from VFW halls and civic parks to memorial sites and firefighters’ lofty caves. Twist your throttle and get in the wind alongside police and fire officers, veterans and service men and women, and diverse patriots. Think of those gone before you; think of those coming after you; and resolve to remember 9/11 as much as the Alamo and Pearl Harbor, and for the same deadly reasons.

If ya don’t ride, ya can still register for updates and follow our progress on the web site <www.TorchesAcrossAmerica.com>, make a donation to support other riders, or buy support regalia like shirts and patches. America will heal itself, and in grieving we remember. Soon the grief will turn to action or forgiveness, bitterness or resignation-and then the ragged wound of terrorism will scar over and become less important.

The sixteen states in order of travel are: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas; Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana; Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland; Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York. Please join us for part or all of this historic ride!

THAT’S IT, LET’S RIDE–Brothers and sisters all over the country are riding out. Some are leaving their women behind. I wish they would send me their addresses. I have 16 snarling Aussies roaming all over my shop, while I try to keep our Bonneville effort rolling. We need distractions.

Coral left to work in the Brass Balls tent in Sturgis. Sin Wu is printing more Bikernet Banners for the rally with Peter Oropeza. At least, I hope that’s what they’re doing. In the meantime I started to work on the Baker Transmission. I need to shave the Baker sprocket and one fork leg arrived from Harley-Davidson. We’re just about there with less than a month to go.

This week we’ll snag the frame back from the powder man and start final assembly and front fender and fairing design. Have a great rally, if you’re going. Either way, stay tuned for more updates.

Ride Forever,
