It’s Wild Card Sunday,
Yesterday I carved out my editorial for the May issue of Hot Bike on Tools. It’s our tool guide issue and will cover everything from Mil’s wheel alignment tool to a CAT program that determines if a frame is straight or not and how to fix it. I wrote about burning my old man’s garage down, experimenting with tools.

Then I tinkered with a 1912 Model H Pope Engine that I’m trying to clean up and assemble for Bikernet Hallway art. Don Whalen called today after his trip to pick up three antique motorcycles in Portland. Highway 5 was closed and he slipped along the 101 running south along a rarely snowed-in coast all the way to LA. If there’s an antique motorcycle for sale anywhere–he’s all over it. Don may have a carb for the Pope.
So I ground, wire brushed, polished, dunked in the solvent tank and blacked out some fasteners. It’s comin’. Once it’s together I’ll work on a stand and secure mounting.
I ducked out of the shop with Layla and we attempted to have my MIG tank filled. As the rain came down we cruised passed the closed welding supply. We grabbed a bite to eat and I had her drop me off the Headquarters.

I worked at the single engine clean-up, assembled the flywheels with a brass bushing on the crank, no bearings, then hit the showers for a meeting with Agent Zebra. He’s out of hiding now and writing for Hot Bike and Bikernet once again. Let’s hit the news then I’ll slice to the sex, almost:

Tasers In School
The Cops in Florida are using their Tasers a awful lot and now are using them on Children. This Is Bullshit!!!!
Tasers going into Duval schools
On-campus officers will carry the stun guns in middle and high schools
By NIN-HAI TSENG
The Times-Union
On-campus officers patrolling Duval County’s middle and high schools will carry Taser guns soon, prompting surprised reactions from school officials who say the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office never told them the new stun guns were making their way onto campuses.
Sheriff John Rutherford could not say if officers will be allowed to use the devices to break up school fights or take down unruly students — as done in Putnam and Clay County schools in recent years. That decision will be announced during a news conference Monday, Jan. 17, he said.
However, the Sheriff’s Office director who is helping write the policy on Tasers did say resource officers will be authorized to shock anyone — even students — if they resist arrest or demonstrate a threat.
Tasers in schools
According to a survey by Taser International, makers of the Taser M26 and X26, at least 32 percent of the 5,500 agencies that use the stun gun equip school resource officers with the device. Next to California, Florida is the Arizona-based company’s largest market.
In Northeast Florida, school resource officers carry Tasers in Clay, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns county schools. While the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has authorized school resource officers to carry the weapons, it is awaiting a shipment of Tasers and planning a training program.
“It’s just another tool,” said Rick Lewis, director of personnel and professional standards. He added that the 47 school resource officers carry guns, batons and pepper spray already.
The weapons fire electrified barbs that can shoot up to 21 feet, disabling suspects with a 50,000-volt shock.
Tasers have become known as one of the safest weapons to take down a person without using deadly force, Rutherford said. The sheriff cited various instances where officers and suspects’ lives were saved because of the weapon.
Rutherford could not say exactly when resource officers will begin carrying Tasers, only that all officers will be trained in the coming months.
“I’m not sure. Maybe next year,” he said.

My name is Quintin Crye, and I am 16 years old. I am writing you today because I am trying to gain support in my move to a United States Auto Club Ford Focus Midget. I have been racing for 9 years. In 1996, I started racing outlaw karts at Cycleland Speedway (chico,Ca). In 1997, my second year racing at Cycleland Speedway, I won seven A-mains and four trophy dashes. I won the first and second races of the year back to back, and finished second in the box stock point standings.
In 1998, I moved up to a 125cc class and won two A-mains and one trophy dash, finishing 5th in my first year in the 125cc class. In 1999, my second year racing in the 125cc class, I finished 3rd in points, winning three A-mains and two trophy dashes. In 2000-2001, I won one trophy dash and two A-main events at Cycleland Speedway. Finishing 6th in the points division. That winter, I raced in the 125cc class in RED BLUFF(calif.) Tehama District Fairgrounds, finishing 7th with one trophy dash win. In 2001, at Cycleland Speedway, I moved up to the Open Intermediate Division. That season I posted two FAST times, and finished 3rd in the points. During the 2001-2002 season at Red Bluff in the Open Intermediate class, I won three trophy dashes, finishing 4th in the points division.

I also won the 6-foot tall QRC trophy and finished the year 7th in the points standings. I am looking forward to continuing my success as the 2004 season starts.
I hope to purchase my Ford Focus Midget in time to fun the 2005 USAC season. You can help me get the frame for my car to make the 2005 season by sponsoring me now. If you choose to sponsor me, I will put your company’s LOGO on my outlaw dirt this year as well as on my Ford Focus Midget next year. I will also mention you in interviews. I am currently in the process of setting up a web site, and I will link your company’s web site to mine when it is completed. I am dedicated to racing and hope to turn it into my career one day. Any support you can offer me along the way would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to working with you.

3-PART MANAGEMENT COURSE
* Lesson Number One:
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, “Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?” The crow answered: “Sure, why not.” So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
Management Lesson?
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
* Lesson Number Two:
A turkey was chatting with a bull. “I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,” sighed the turkey, “but I haven’t got the energy.” “Well, why don’t you nibble on some of my droppings?” replied the bull. “They’re packed with nutrients.” The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Management Lesson?
Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you there.
* Lesson Number Three:
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize ow warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.
Management Lesson?
1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3. And when you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

Sunday Joke
A man and his wife were driving home one very cold night when the wife asks her husband to stop the car. There was a baby skunk lying at the side of the road, and she got out to see if it was still alive.
It was, and she said to her husband, “It’s nearly frozen to death. Can we take it with us, get it warm, and let it go in the morning?”
He says, “O.K., Get in the car with it.”
“Where shall I put it to get it warm?” she asked.
He says, “Put it in between your legs. It’s nice and warm there.”
But what about the smell?” she asked.
“Just hold its nose,” he replied.

Heres a few photos from when I had my shop in Denver..
Skooter

Jack Shafts Here are some drafts of the shaft assembly. Each section has locating bosses (just like on pulleys and rear wheels) to keep the different parts in line with each other. The assembly has 2 sealed 1″ bearings with a center tube like rear hubs on billet wheels and held in place with an axel and spacers ( like a rear wheel ). The three sections on this one are held together by a 5 bolt circle on each end. And each side has a adjusting screws holding the unit in place hidden behind the adjuster plates.
The Devil
Dave Mann Memorial Site I just put up a page on the Weasels USA site for the David Mann Memorial in Ventura from a Weasel perspective. David was the founder of the Kansas City Weasels. There is also a copy of David’s eulogy by his lifelong friend Tom Fugle that you can download as a .pdf file, as it was sent to me. Also some of his pics from the old days. Finally there are links to other David Mann memorial sites.
It’s at: http://www.weaselsusa.org/mannmemorial.html

IT’S A WINTER WRAP–Hey don’t forget to join the Cantina for a measely $5, and support all of Bikernet. If we can get all the bros and broettes to join, we can do things with this site like has never been done in the industry. It just takes that five bucks, so get your pals to join.

Okay, so it’s winter. It’s cold even in California (we’re not use to this shit). I don’t like it. I don’t know about you, but it’s fuckin’ with my sex drive. The girls went to dinner last night, to drink and fondle one another under the tables while the India belly dancers drove them crazy with lurid moves and jiggling flesh. Just the thought of this scene would generally drive me nuts, but I was standing in the rain outside a bar on the other side of town and pondering smacking the parking lot attendant.

Agent Zebra slipped me a Christmas Columbia River Knife. I tested it in the restaurant and frightened the party in the table next, while we watched the last four minutes of the Jets/Chargers game. I thought about number 50’s mistaken adrenaline rush as he smacked the Charger quarterback and nearly lost the game with only 11 seconds left.
I can’t wait for the warmth to return. Until then we’ll try to keep you entertained, informed and plannin’ for hot summer rides.
Ride Forever,
–Bandit
