Happy Thanksgiving,
I’ve been waiting for months to write this. This year contained some tough obstacles, but we stepped up and conquered. I needed to finish what may be my last book. The City of Los Angeles attacked my building. I had to register my 2014 Indian—not easy in California with a 49-State model.
I had issues with the 5-Ball Salt Torpedo, Bonneville streamlined trike effort and needed to face them and take action.
Since I bought this building one of my goals was to build a deck over the patio. We encountered Bikernet website structure obstacles. Wilmington Waterfront community effort challenged us and a mural effort on the headquarters lingered.
One more, and maybe the most important issue are attacks on our Industry and an effort to combat the EPA. It’s odd. We shouldn’t need to combat any bureaucracy in our government. We pay their salaries. They should work for us, all of us. It’s nuts, but I’ve tried to do all I can to hopefully keep our industry alive and vibrant.
Bikers, including Rogue, the Supreme Editor of Bikernet Baggers, have always been warriors in the fight for freedom. We learned a long time ago to never give up or give in. We learned that a small group of organized folks could make a significant difference. Join you local motorcycle rights group. You can make a difference.
The Thanksgiving Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored by Cycle Source Magazine, Iron Trader News, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation, Choppertown, and Born to Ride. Hooray!

THE EDITOR OF BIKERNET TRIKES SUMS UP WORLD POLITICS– India is prospering under nationalist right wing leader Modi.
Putin revived Russia via nationalist fervor.
Phillipines leader Duerte openly publicly called Obama a son of a whore to focus on building his nation.
Trump won USA.
The swinging of the pendulum has already started and nothing can stop this. Modi, Brexit, Trump and now Le Pen. Next Angela Dorothea Merkel will fall. EU will become toothless and defunct.
It may sound like anathema to most left-leaning theorists, but globalization has clearly not been the panacea that some thought it would, rather it only helped a few while leaving a lot of others in the lurch. Those who did not enjoy the benefits are bound to react.
Societies and people define themselves using things more vital and dynamic like tradition and culture, ingrained over centuries of existence, than mere economic considerations, which too seems to have failed many.
The personal deficiencies of these leaders matter less – which politician is without deficiency? – because they are riding on the crest of a wave whose time has come. Super-nationalism is an inherently doomed ideology, and runs against every grain of historical evidence. Good walls make good neighbors.
Prophets of globalization have tried hard to pin the blame on Putin and revive anti-Russianism of the cold war era. While Putin runs a government of kleptocracy and with strong dictatorial ambitions, his excursions are limited to his neighborhood, which further gets semi-justified by the NATO policies of spreading US interventionism.
Moreover, good or bad, he ain’t the guy sending suicide bombers into Europe and other parts of world using a medievalist ideology as support. Nah, the world is not going to fall into a Putin hate spree however much Obama, Clinton, Cameron, or Merkel and their propagandist media (which shared the spoils of their interventionist outreach) may try and sell. That script is clearly not working.
However, what does pose an immediate and present danger that threatens the world in a way, which cannot be ignored anymore arises from the benighted land of Saudi Barbaria and its jihadi-exporting regime. For them to fall, first and foremost their most powerful backers have to be de-fanged.
And that is exactly what is happening in world politics right now.

Endeavoring to persevere
Very good article! I recently test rode a few of the new M-8 bikes and found myself quietly smiling with satisfaction as I drove home. My happiness came from a morning of riding on Harley’s dime rather than my own, as I test rode several bikes riding for more than three hours and didn’t pay for gas at all.
Seriously, what better way to explore the new bikes than at a demo event, which Harley offers several times a year at its different events as well as at the local dealers.
I have avoided the dealerships at all costs the last few months trying desperately to keep my desires at bay and not slip into the “gotta have the shiny new bike” when my latest toy still had tits on the tires.
My wife and I attended the Lone Star Rally a couple of weeks ago and I again avoided the H-D display with all their amazing new bikes begging to be ridden…I wanted to stay away. Everyone I spoke with who had the M8 was gushing over the new motor, “oh it’s so much smoother, faster, quieter, better handling,”….blah, blah, blahhh.
I finally broke down this weekend and decided to try the test ride.

DRESS DONATIONS FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED GIRLS BY USTRENDY– In an attempt to give back during Thanksgiving holiday, UsTrendy (the largest independent fashion site in world) will be donating dresses to underprivileged girls through its foundation Believe in Yourself Project the day before Thanksgiving.
“With so much focus of the holidays being around shopping its important also be mindful that some people may face finance restraints. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and spread joy. We want to make the holiday a special one for these girls.” says founder Sam Sisakhti
Over the past year, UsTrendy has given formal dresses to underprivileged high school girls and college students across the country, for them to wear at their school dances. Donations began last winter, and UsTrendy reports that many of the girls in the program have had the self confidence to attend their first school dance. The program is now expanding to also include dress donations during holidays.
In conjunction with donating dresses, Sisakhti seeks to create a mentor program that will provide mentoring services and other support and also bring in women speakers to talk to the girls. The aim is to promote a positive body image and healthy self esteem among young women at an early age, empowering these young girls to take on active social roles within their school communities and to feel good about themselves.
This coming week, UsTrendy will be delivering more dresses to the Boys and Girls Clubs around country for Thanksgiving. Please email sam@ustrendy.com or call him at 617.680.9228 with any questions.

This Thanksgiving holiday, we wanted to thank you for your dedication and continued support!
As many of you know we are a 501(c)3, non-profit foundation and unlike many museums, we have operated without a major contributor, individual or organization.
We are proud to be a museum of the riders community and sincerely thank you.
Through your membership, sponsorship, donations and gift shop purchases-both online and in the museum, we have been able to update the windows, put a new roof on the current building, purchase additional property and begin the permitting process to begin expansion.
There is still much work that needs to be done to complete the first stage of growth, and because you are behind us, we feel confident that we will raise the remaining funds to complete the expansion.
The Plan
There have been various expansion concepts in the past, and utilizing all of these plans as a foundation, we have made revisions to create a comprehensive plan going forward.
We are fortunate that our Executive Director, Myrick Robbins, aside from being a long time rider, motorcycle tour guide and business manager, is also an architectural designer.
The modifications that Myrick made better match Main Street, our property size and also accounts for new regulations that have been put in place since the purchase of the additional property.
This plan will double the square footage and still allow us to utilize the outdoor space for vendor rental and museum activities. We are working to raise $1.5 million for this expansion and your membership fee, sponsorships and designated building fund donations will all go toward this needed project.
Phase 2 of growth will turn the focus of Main and Junction to the Hall of Fame and build a second larger campus that will house all of the collections and exhibits.
Both buildings will have facilities for museum, community and business activities, special events and meetings.
Every two months, we will be sending out our newsletter and will keep you up-to-date on our progress. Please give us your input, suggestions and comments through:

A QUIET MOMENT FROM THE BIKERNET TEMPLE–
“I recognize that awareness is the first step in healing or changing. I become more aware with each passing day.”
—LOUISE HAY
The Holidays are a great time to start the practice of mediation and affirmation. During a time of bustling about, getting presents and attending gatherings, it is important to take time for yourself, to quiet your mind and find inner peace. I love the Holidays, as it brings around so much love.
I have found that meditation is one of the best practices to nurture and heal your soul. By reading, speaking, or listening to a daily mediation, the power of love and creative insight flows through you. Open your heart to the divinity that lies within you.
Affirmation Image
Daily meditation comes in many ways. Like all things in your life, doing what works best for you will be most beneficial. All methods have unique benefits. You’ll find many great options for you to try including, my 5-minute mediation or even mirror work can be very powerful. Don’t forget, meditation is a tool for you to get in touch with your own inner guidance. You’ll be more aware of your connection when you take deep breaths and quiet your mind. We are always connected to this guidance. Take the time to listen and love yourself. I love you all dearest ones.
Let’s affirm: Every decision I make is the right one for me.
I am neither too little nor too much, and I do not have to prove myself to anyone. I am okay as I am.
–Louise Hay

DO COWS POLLUTE MORE THAN ANIMALS– Agriculture is responsible for an estimated 14 percent of the world’s greenhouse gases. A significant portion of these emissions come from methane, which, in terms of its contribution to global warming, is 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide.
The U.S. Food and Agriculture Organization says that agricultural methane output could increase by 60 percent by 2030 [Source: Times Online].
The world’s 1.5 billion cows and billions of other grazing animals emit dozens of polluting gases, including lots of methane. Two-thirds of all ammonia comes from cows.
Cows emit a massive amount of methane through belching, with a lesser amount through flatulence. Statistics vary regarding how much methane the average dairy cow expels. Some experts say 100 liters to 200 liters a day (or about 26 gallons to about 53 gallons), while others say it’s up to 500 liters (about 132 gallons) a day. In any case, that’s a lot of methane, an amount comparable to the pollution produced by a car in a day.
To understand why cows produce methane, it’s important to know a bit more about how they work. Cows, goats, sheep and several other animals belong to a class of animals called ruminants. Ruminants have four stomachs and digest their food in their stomachs instead of in their intestines, as humans do. Ruminants eat food, regurgitate it as cud and eat it again. The stomachs are filled with bacteria that aid in digestion, but also produce methane.
With millions of ruminants in Britain, including 10 million cows, a strong push is underway to curb methane emissions there.
Cows contribute 3 percent of Britain’s overall greenhouse gas emissions and 25 to 30 percent of its methane. In New Zealand, where cattle and sheep farming are major industries, 34 percent of greenhouse gases come from livestock. A three-year study, begun in April 2007 by Welsh scientists, is examining if adding garlic to cow feed can reduce their methane production. The study is ongoing, but early results indicate that garlic cuts cow flatulence in half by attacking methane-producing microbes living in cows’ stomachs [Source: BBC News].
The researchers are also looking to see if the addition of garlic affects the quality of the meat or milk produced and even if the animals get bad breath.
Another study at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, is tracking quantities of methane and nitrogen produced by sheep, which provide a good comparison model for cows because they have similar digestive systems, but are less unruly. The sheep in the study are living in plastic tunnels where their methane production is monitored across a variety of diets.
Many other efforts are underway to reduce ruminant methane production, such as attempting to breed cows that live longer and have better digestive systems. At the University of Hohenheim in Germany, scientists created a pill to trap gas in a cow’s rumen — its first stomach — and convert the methane into glucose. However, the pill requires a strict diet and structured feeding times, something that may not lend itself well to grazing.
In 2003, the government of New Zealand proposed a flatulence tax, which was not adopted because of public protest.

MORE FEMA NEWS– European Motorcyclists’ Organizations Working Together.
The members of the FEMA/FIM Europe working group met in Brussels last week and discussed all the issues that are currently important to motorcycling.
Both FIM Europe and FEMA are motorcyclists’ organizations active on the European scene, and even though we come from totally different backgrounds, we try to find common ground.
FEMA’s General Secretary Dolf Willigers: “The FEMA/FIM Europe working group meets three times a year to develop a good cooperation that will benefit motorcyclists. By working (and sometimes lobbying) together, the voice of the European riders will become much stronger.”
At the meeting last week, the working group decided that the two organizations should alternate chairing the group. The coming year FEMA will be in charge and Morten Hansen (NMCU Norway) was elected chairman. The working group then discussed a long list of issues, such as self driving cars and the need to ensure that testing with motorcycles is done properly, the latest developments in motorcycle training and the need for motorcycle friendly infrastructure.
Silvio Manicardi, FIM Europe Vice President, stated after the meeting: “FEMA and FIM Europe represent 37 million users of motorcycles in Europe. I appreciate the sense of cooperation and friendship of all the members of the working group to achieve the common goals.”
Morten Hansen, the newly elected chairman of the working group, said: “The basis for the close cooperation of the two organisations is the excellent OECD report on motorcycle safety, officially presented in 2015. Since then we have agreed on joint position papers on all important issuses. Now it is time to focus on the joint practical lobby work. FIM Europe and FEMA will speak with one voice in meetings with stakeholders, making the message from European riders come over even stronger. We will offer to share our huge expertise on motorcycling matters, and expect that no decicion is taken without the opinion of FEMA and FIM Europe being taken into account.”

MAG UK Fights ‘Tax On Biking’ In London– The Motorcycle Action Group United Kingdom (MAG UK), member of FEMA, has raised major concerns about a new ‘tax on biking’ in London.
An ‘Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ)’ will impose the same daily tax of £12.50 on riders of non-compliant Powered Two Wheelers as car drivers.
MAG’s Policy and Campaigns Adviser (see picture), has been in extensive talks with the ULEZ team leaders in Transport for London (TfL). However, and despite explaining that all types of PTW are a vital element in solving London’s congestion and pollution problems, the current plan is to impose new taxes on motorcycles as if journeys by PTWs cause as much pollution as cars or vans that are often stationary in jammed traffic.
‘What the authorities fail to recognise,’ explains Leon, ‘is that taxing motorcycles is counterproductive and in MAG’s view is totally unjustified. As TfL’s own study of PTW emissions in 2011 clearly showed, trips by all types of motorcycle produce far less CO2 and NOx compared to cars when emissions from the same real-time journeys are compared. PTWs do not cause congestion whereas cars and vans do – no matter how energy-efficient they are claimed to be.’

VON DUTCH PAINTED HOT ROD DISCOVERED– I thought you would be interested in this story I found on MSN:
Found!
1923 Ford T-Bucket Striped by Von Dutch in 1969
When Michael Lightbourn agreed to look at an old hot rod buried in a garage apartment basement in El Paso, Texas, he never expected to find a work of art. “I’ve known Gary Hawkins for years. I grew up around him with my uncles, my dad, and everybody.” Michael knew Gary had an old ’23 T-bucket powered by a Corvette L88 big-block.
He just had never seen the car. In 2011, Gary asked Michael to check out the T-bucket for the codes on the 427 to assess the engine’s value. The T, Gary assumed, was just an old kit that “wasn’t worth anything.” Michael found the famous IT engine suffix code for a factory-issue L88, date coded December of 1967, and apparently correct for a ’68 Corvette. But more than the motor impressed him.
The paint job from 1969 still looked “really nice” and featured gold leaf, cool pinstripes, a pair of holograms resembling a marijuana leaf, plus painted emblems that looked oddly familiar. Finally, when Michael worked his way around the car to the tailgate and discovered “Von Dutch ’69” painted there, he quickly lost interest in the motor and asked Gary point blank who had painted this car.

BOOK REVIEW OF THE WEEK– Exile on Front Street by George Christie.
Much has been written about the outlaw clubs that started in the ‘40s and have survived and grown into present day icons in the motorcycle world.
The definition of a biker in those days may have been different than it is today, but what remains the same is “Freedom” being the start of this formation into and what defines a biker…
So I was hooked into reading the tale of his life as a Hell’s Angel, and what a tale it is…
I was very interested in his view of how bikers have changed from the old school code of yesterday, to this new breed of biker today that have pushed out a lot of older members.

GIVE THANKS— Have a great day for tomorrow will be amazing. I find so many things in life are laughable and yet not in a funny way. We need some Bad Jokes.
Maybe I need a whiskey. My studies teach me to challenge my thinking. Perhaps that’s where I go wrong. We all live in paradise if we think so. Let’s run with that notion. Give thanks to your paradise.
Next week we will wrap up another bagger tech. I swear I’m going to relax and finish another Cantina Episode. We have more special reports headed your way. And someday a bright light will shine on Freedom once more.
