I have a major bitch, actually a couple, but I will attempt to stay focused on Freedom. I just don’t get it. What happened to freedom in this country. We all know how important freedom is for the soul, but safety, and regulation took over.
How many times has this backfired, take the War on Drugs. Is it all about making money? Now the global warming/climate change craze is building agencies to control everything around climate fear. I just recently watched a climate report and the PHD said that perhaps 50 percent of climate change is caused by human behavior or fossil fuels, and the other 50 percent is caused by climate shifts.
So, when the EPA sits down to dream up more controls, more regulations, more restrictions, why can’t we require a Freedom test over unlimited control. If they are after something that will destroy an industry, or the freedom to create, why can’t they be required to back off and allow Freedom to shine. What’s so difficult about that?
Here are two examples. They want mandatory helmet laws, when a full face helmet can break your neck. And many helmets fuck with hearing and peripheral vision. So, basically wearing helmets is a gamble yet they want to make it mandatory.
They are trying to control performance motorcycles with CARB regs. Custom motorcycles will make no significant dent in the atmosphere, yet they use any excuse to mess with this small industry, while China builds more coal fired plants. What the hell? I can dig the big picture efforts, but leave some openings for Freedom and fun.
I would call this a balanced approach. Do we want to be controlled by the agencies we create? That’s what’s happening. Join your local motorcycle rights group, quick.

BAD COP REPORT OF THE WEEK– Six Police Chiefs Publicly Accuse Sheriff – Claiming He Stole Their Drugs.
Sandusky County, OH — Six police chiefs publicly accused the local sheriff on Friday of stealing drugs from their departments and lying about his involvement with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The police chiefs also blamed the state’s attorney general and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) of stalling the investigation for political purposes.
In April 2015, Sandusky County Sheriff Kyle Overmyer met with Police Chief Mark Kaufman at Bellevue Police Department and allegedly told the police chief that he was collecting drugs for the DEA. Loosely managed by the DEA, the drug disposal boxes at Bellevue and the surrounding police departments were intended to keep unused pills, including antibiotics and painkillers, from being improperly discarded or illicitly sold.
Relatively new to the job, Chief Kaufman agreed to hand the drugs over to the sheriff without verifying his claims. Unbeknownst to Kaufman, the sheriff subsequently appeared two more times to steal drugs without his presence.
“Well, I didn’t realize he had been there the other two times,” Kaufman told the Sandusky Register. “And my detective didn’t think anything of it. It was the sheriff picking up these things. He told us – he told me personally – he had an agreement with DEA and just kept it in whatever facility he had, and he said they come and pick it up a couple times a year.”
After learning that Overmyer had appeared two more times in his absence to take more drugs, Kaufman brought up the subject at the police chiefs’ monthly meeting on August 19. Kaufman recalled, “I said, ‘Hey, lemme ask you guys something. You’re way more experienced than I am at this. Have you guys ever had this happen?’ And then, all of a sudden, everyone’s going, ‘Yeah, he was over at my place.’ Then we’re starting to… This wasn’t just me.”
Kaufman continued, “When I talked to DEA the next day, I learned that the sheriff in fact did not have an agreement with them, and secondly that they told me they had discontinued the pick-ups a couple years ago, and that they were starting again.”
Following the monthly meeting, chiefs Charles Horne and Kaufman repeatedly called BCI Agent Jeff Cook to request the status of the investigation and offer to be interviewed. Instead, police chiefs discovered that the BCI had informed Overmyer about the accusations against him.
Although Attorney General Mike DeWine later claimed that he had no knowledge of the accusations against Sheriff Overmyer, Gibsonburg Police Chief Paul Whitaker asserted that DeWine spoke with him on September 27, and the state’s attorney general falsely assured Whitaker that the investigation was ongoing. The next day, coincidentally on DEA Drug Take Back day, BCI Superintendent Tom Stickrath continued the false narrative, while Agent Cook informed Chief Horne that the criminal allegations against Overmyer were “trivial and minor.”
“That was the day they designated to go around to all the departments in a Ryder truck and collect all these drugs,” Whitaker recalled. “They collected 61lbs just from Clyde Police Department. So there’s a lot of drugs being collected out of a 26-county area.”

It’s “An Extortion Racket:” Police Chief Moved to Tears After Exposing Corruption in His Department
“Exactly like the Mafioso in New York. That’s exactly how they are operating,” Calexico Police Chief Mike Bostic said in regards to his own department.
Calexico, CA — A border town east of San Diego fired their own police chief last month “in the interest of their own citizens,” and on Oct. 13 Former Police Chief Pompeyo Tabarez was replaced with Mike Bostic.
When Bostic took over the department he found it rife with corruption. “The council members in conjunction with the police officers association and members of that association have used city funds and city resources to run what I would call an extortion racket,” said the newly-appointed police chief as he publicly accused his predecessor, members of his own department and city officials of illegally trying to undermine a criminal investigation, comparing their actions to those of the New York mafia.
“Exactly like the Mafioso in New York. That’s exactly how they are operating,” the chief said.
According to NBC San Diego, after he was on the job for three or four days, Bostic discovered the investigations unit was not working any active cases. The same was true with the narcotics and internal affairs units.
The corruption was so out of hand that the FBI has launched an investigation into the allegations. Last week during a press conference Bostic publicly denounced the corruption within the department and vowed to end it.
When he got to the part about having to call in the FBI just two weeks into his term, he was moved to tears, “I’ve literally had it,” Bostic said as he broke down.
Unfortunately police department corruption is not isolated to this small border town. There are literally dozens of instances of departments just like this one in Calexico.
What makes this case unique, however, is the fact that the whistelblower is at the top of the department. So many times we see ‘good cops’ fired, threatened, harassed, and smeared for trying to call out corruption within their own department. Bostic, being the department Chief, is seemingly able to avoid such backlash….so far.

Shocks with rising-rate springs
Ikon has developed a range of rear shocks designed to upgrade Harley-Davidson 883 and 1200 Sportsters.
Traditionally styled to suit the Sportster’s looks, 7610 Series shocks have a triple rate progressive spring that is said to adapt to different loads.
Ikon say that most standard springs are designed for ‘full bump load’ so they will cope with maximum suspension travel while the bike is carrying maximum weight, which makes them quite unforgiving under more normal conditions.
However, the company says that their progressive springs have a rising rate, so that they move more easily over smaller bumps.
Preload can be adjusted to three settings improving handling and comfort, but Ikon also offer four-position rebound damping adjustment, which can be altered by hand.
The 7610 Series shocks come with either eye or clevis mounts, in a choice of black or chrome bodies and springs and with or without covers.

Plus all signage, gas pumps etc… Now in its 44th year it has over 9,600 vendor booths spaces and over 125,000 attendees. They have a good shot at surpassing Hershey in size this year as well. It is held at Texas Motor Speedway and we occupy most of the West parking lot behind the NASCAR track.
Our Cherokee Chapter Club is the largest individual leaser of spaces at over 400 and we hope to hit 500 this year. We had 380+ booth spaces full of old bike parts and 182 machines in our first year Concours Bike Show last year.
We anchor one small corner of the event and they wanted a motorcycle venue for years and we took it on in a big way. Our goal is to be the Davenport of the South soon.

ENGINE EQUATOR II FROM CUSTOM CYCLE ENGINEERING– The Engine Equator II is designed for all 2009 to present Touring Models (FLH’s and FLT’s). The new bracket allows all Dresser riders to correct chassis misalignment, which is impossible to achieve with the stock motor mount.

FREE ATOMIC BOB– Many readers may know of Atomic Bob, pinstripper from Ohio. Recently, his family fell on hard times and he was incarcerated due to an altercation.
His wife and three daughters are dependent on him for his art talent to support the family. His wife, known as SaraBelle ran the company Atomic Dice Studio Arts LLC, but with the artist unable to paint motorcycles they have very little to no income.
While Atomic is away SaraBelle has focused her talents in graphic design on a new venture, prison art. Atomic creates artwork and sends it to her to create t-shirts, prints, shop rags and other rad pieces for people to purchase to help support the family.

There is No Room for EGO in the Motorcycle Rights Movement– In a community full of alpha male personalities this makes things difficult. But every one of us learned what we know from somewhere and most likely from someone. And what we all know, even if we seem to forget, is that successful grassroots people-powered movements are the result of an entire community’s efforts.
I understand this reality firsthand. I am a Spokesperson for numerous motorcycle rights groups and therefore I am more visible than many. But the fact remains, every amount of success I may have achieved has only been possible because of the hundreds of unified bikers always standing with me. The Washington State Confederation of Clubs and ABATE have always stood with me and trusted me to represent the voice of our movement. I humbly recognize this reality and will never take it for granted.
Although it is true that it takes everyone, it is also true that there are usually a few obvious stand-outs in any successful effort that create a strategic foundation for the entire movement. In Washington State, we were lucky enough to have a handful of highly motivated and capable individuals.
Donnie “Mr. Breeze” Landsman
Donnie was our single point of contact, our feet on the ground, for legislators. Donnie developed and implemented a cooperative strategy combining the legislative process knowledge of active independents and the massive manpower of an increasingly involved club contingent. I worked closely with Donnie including daily communication and constant and absolute collaboration on every issue that arose.

Twitch took responsibility for all public information requests and video documentation. Jeff’s contribution to Washington State’s success cannot be overstated. It’s been over a decade and we all still recognize and thank him for having the vision and belief that we could unify motorcycle clubs to protect our culture.
Martin Fox, our COC attorney, has a body of work that speaks for itself. Much of our pattern of evidence used to justify our law came directly from the successful results of Martin’s legal work and official correspondence with state officials and law enforcement. Although Martin is now retired, we have been lucky enough to have inherited Mike Myers as his replacement. HOLD ON FOR MIAMI SHOW WINNERS–
The J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show rolled into Miami with a pronounced Latin beat. The energy was high inside the Miami Convention Center with Cartel Baggers making their presence known by displaying 26 custom Baggers in the MOD Harley and FreeStyle classes. And if you like a killer Baggers, then the Miami show is a “can’t miss” on the schedule. During the awards ceremony hundreds of Cartel Baggers’ enthusiasts came out to support the competitors and the custom bike lifestyle.
The award for the hardest working shop went to the Chairman of the Board, Ralph of Cartel Baggers. He took home the SHO DOG Award and received a solo bag from The Leatherworks. Ed Alburqueque of Unique Custom Cycles got the nod for the People’s Choice award and received a BELL Custom 500 lid.
Miami was a Bill Dodge-fest with Bill winning Editor’s Choice from Hot Bike and Street Chopper. Our good friend Jeff Holt, Brand Director of Hot Bike & Street Chopper Magazines, could not be in attendance so we used a cardboard cut-out for the photo op. Famed artist Makoto Endo painted his bike, Egret, with chop sticks at the Progressive Booth. But the love didn’t stop there. He won the MOD Custom class as well.
MOD Custom – The Bill Dodge Indian Scout is a project for an Indian dealer located in the Southwest. Bill created a new set of wheels, exhaust, primary and triple trees. One of the coolest features was a bolt on rear section. He also upgraded the front end by affixing a set of GSX-R front forks with radial brakes.

RETRO MOD – This class is for bikes older than 1984. It allows for any drivetrain and frame configuration. First place went to the Reverend of Speed, the Merchant of Horsepower and the Menace of the Asphalt—Reverend Jim Goodrich. His 1978 Harley-Davidson sports a 78 CI mill with NOS and air shifter. The neck has been raked and the swing arm stretched.

MOD Harley – The MOD Harley class are for Harley-Davidson bikes that retain the frame cradle and run Harley cases. This has been the largest MOD Harley class in the series to date. And the Florida builders knocked it out of the park.
EL Conquistador took 1st place. The bike was built by Underground Garage and features a 30 inch wheel, Trask Turbo, full air suspension, molded side panels and hidden wiring. The 2012 Road King was painted by MO’s Image Customs.

FreeStyle – The FreeStyle class provided a surprising winner at the Miami edition of the 2016 J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show and not because the bike didn’t deserve the top rung, it did. The construction and attitude of the sled was a departure from the norms. Hater 3 is the first bike that has won with a diesel. It is also the first bike built using I-Beam construction.
Todd Anglani of After Hours Bikes let Mother Nature provide the patina and a tractor provided the solo seat. The bike features a turbo charger, custom 30inch Invader-style steel front wheel and air bags.
The open bags are constructed from pine. Hater 3 is minimalistic and the exact opposite of the current hi-gloss big wheel baggers. Todd took home a check for $2,000 and the “Made in America” anvil ring from Speakeasy Original.

The Miami show was an adventure. The bikes, the food and the people were a treat. Rolling around town you couldn’t miss the Ferraris, Lambos and Maseratis. The weather was hot and humid and a delight from the cold visiting the Northern climes.

AUSTRALIAN CLUB NEWS– New motorcycle club dismantled say Aussie cops
Police in Australia’s most populous state NSW, are reporting that an overseas motorcycle club that’s evidently trying to establish itself in Australia, poses a dangerous new rivalry to established motorcycle clubs in the country.
The Satudarah motorcycle club, originating from the Netherlands, first emerged in Australia last year and has reportedly established chapters in NSW, South Australia and Queensland, mostly through social media.
The club, which police claim has a reputation for extreme violence, is not one of the 10 motorcycle clubs whose members are now subject to strict association restrictions under new anti-biker laws.
The Satudarah MC was founded in the town of Moordrecht, southern Holland in 1990. Its first members were immigrants or children of immigrants from the former Dutch possession Moluccas, now part of Indonesia.
The term “satu darah” comes from the Indonesian and Malay languages and has a meaning of “one blood”.
The group began establishing itself in Sydney and other states last year when Australian Crime Commission chief executive Chris Dawson confirmed that his organization, through the Australian Gangs Intelligence Coordination Centre, was “aware of the Satudarah outlaw motorcycle gang and its recent presence in some Australian states’’.
“Outlaw motorcycle gangs are not harmless motorcycle clubs. They are well organized criminal gangs causing harm and disruption across our country,’’ he said.
In February the NSW Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor received intelligence Satudarah were attempting to start new chapters in NSW.
Police say after an ‘extensive investigation’ by Raptor officers, four members of Satudarah including the chapter president were arrested, effectively shutting down the Chapter in Sydney.
Those arrested included a 22-year-old man at Ryde Police Station last Tuesday charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, and habitually consort with convicted offender after warning.
He has been bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court on January 27.
The next day two men aged 30 and 31 were arrested at Parramatta Police Station. The 31-year-old was charged with habitually consort with convicted offender after warning. He has been granted bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on February 11.
The 30-year-old man, alleged Chapter President, was charged with publish false misleading material to obtain property. He is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on the same date.
He was previously charged on December 2 last year with offences including use offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault and malicious damage after an incident the previous month.
Police will allege in court that during the incident at Menai the accused used a knife to assault another man. He was refused bail in relation to that matter which is due to be heard before Bankstown Local Court on 8 February 2016.
A 29-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for hinder police. He is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 27 January 2016.
As part of the investigation, Strike Force Raptor said they had previously executed a search warrant at the Satudarahs alleged clubhouse in Bankstown on Thursday 5 November 2015, where they seized methylamphetamine (Ice), club colours and paraphernalia, and items related to firearm possession.
The club house was shut down at this time and remains closed.
LOCAL BIKERS SUE SACRAMENTO COPS, AND CHP OVER HELMET HARASSMENT– Local bikers say they’re being improperly cited for violating California’s helmet law.
Mark Temple knew the drill: As the patrolman approached, he swung his leg over the dark maroon Harley-Davidson, leaning on its kickstand in a parking stall of a McDonald’s in Fair Oaks.
Temple and California Highway Patrol Officer Robert Di Miceli were well acquainted prior to that March 2014 afternoon. According to court documents, Di Miceli had personally stopped and cited Temple at least three times for the same alleged grievance: riding his motorcycle without the proper headgear.
The biker wore what Di Miceli described in court documents as a modified baseball cap, coated with a plastic shell and chin-strapped to his face. The sort-of helmet sported a label from the Ill-Eagle Helmet Company of Oakland (say it out loud).
Because Temple hadn’t obeyed his prior commands to wear what he considered a legal helmet, court documents attest, Di Miceli placed him under arrest.
Almost two years later, biker and cop are fighting this battle on a larger stage, and with significantly more at stake.
Temple belongs to an unincorporated motorcyclist club called B.O.L.T., which stands for “Bikers Of Lesser Tolerance.” To its members, B.O.L.T. is a civil-rights group that views helmet laws as a violation of bikers’ First Amendment rights, but still complies with them—barely. To law enforcement, B.O.L.T. is an anarchic organization made up of “constitutionalists” (a code word usually associated with white anti-government types) that brazenly flouts motorcycle helmet requirements.
Temple and 11 other B.O.L.T. members have sued the CHP, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Rancho Cordova Police Department and their respective municipalities in federal court. The plaintiffs and their attorneys are requesting restraining orders and an unspecified amount in monetary damages. The cops-slash-defendants want the lawsuit dismissed with prejudice.
The case is the most recent salvo in the ongoing feud between an outlaw biker culture that bristles at efforts to tame it, and an establishment that values safety over fashion.
“You’ve got the two extremes,” said James Hernandez, a Sacramento State criminal-justice professor who often testifies for defense attorneys as a gang expert. “Law enforcement is all about conforming. Bikers are about a total rejection of conformity. They give each other purpose.”
In their complaint, plaintiff attorneys allege that Rancho Cordova police improperly cited their 12 clients for wearing inadequate helmet protection while riding in and around the city. (Per an agreement, the sheriff’s department provides police services in Rancho Cordova.)
The conflict basically comes down to a question of profiling.
Plaintiff attorney Gary Gorski says officers were using the helmet law as a cover to stop and harass his clients, one of whom includes a member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. “It’s the oldest trick in the book,” he said. “They use those minor traffic infractions … to find something.”
B.O.L.T. is claiming that the enforcement is unconstitutional, and is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. “We haven’t made any demands yet,” Gorski said, adding that his clients are mostly interested in recouping their own court expenses.
After his arrest, Temple faced nine separate counts—three misdemeanors and six infractions—that resulted in a short trial in November 2014. Temple was acquitted on eight counts, and the last one was dismissed.
Temple had also been ticketed twice by a Rancho Cordova police officer, while he and his co-plaintiffs have appeared numerous times in traffic court.
In the cases that he’s reviewed, Hernandez says it’s not uncommon for law enforcement to target bikers for small things, like helmet or turn-signal violations.
According to online court documents, Temple pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence in 1989. Co-plaintiffs John Robert Dalke and Glenn Osborn did the same in 1996 and 2014, respectively. In 1998, co-plaintiff Lyle Duvauchelle pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of battery, though he’s had charges dismissed in three other cases, online court records show.
B.O.L.T. advocates for the repeal of helmet-safety laws on the grounds that they infringe on personal freedom, but its members say they nevertheless comply with the law. Gorski describes it as a civil-rights organization with a bad rap from law enforcement. “They make it sound like B.O.L.T. is a big biker gang,” he said.
Both the National Coalition of Motorcyclists and Confederation of Clubs have taken on helmet laws, as well as gang-validation policies.
In Easyriders Freedom F.I.G.H.T. v. Hannigan—a similar case where CHP officers were ticketing motorcyclists for wearing “nonconforming” helmets—the Ninth Circuit ruled that the bikers had to know their helmets weren’t in compliance with federal standards to be arrested or cited. “In other words,” the defense’s motion acknowledges, “the ticketing officer must have probable cause to believe” the motorcyclist had specific intent to flout the law.
Defense attorneys have responded to the lawsuit by saying the new sheriff’s policy renders the plaintiffs’ complaints moot. Attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the complaint on the grounds that the plaintiffs no longer have any standing, because they’re no longer being injured by the policy they’re complaining about. Both sides are waiting for the judge to rule on the motion, which could happen at any time, Gorski says. A pretrial scheduling conference was rescheduled from this month to April 25.
But Gorski says it’s enforcement practices, not policies, that his clients are suing over. “So a written policy doesn’t mean diddly,” he said. “It’s the enforcement techniques that are not being addressed.”
Long term, Gorski and his clients want to overturn California’s helmet law, which he says should be up to the rider. “I never heard of anyone getting killed by a motorcyclist riding without a helmet,” he said. “I might kill myself [riding without one]. But I can smoke cigarettes and kill myself.”
