Deus Farewell to Tammy

This past Sunday, the phone rang and it was my friend Shannon Sweeney of SS Classics, a restorer/builder of righteous vintage Hondas, and I was thinking it was about the new project bike, a rare Red Dragon, but it wasn’t. He was about to leave his house in Alhambra to ride over to Deus ex Machina, the emporium located in Venice, and the L.A. focal point for SoCal lifestyle as in bikes, surfboards and a great cup of java. It had fast become a gathering place for bike fans of all flavors, several events held every month and a place you always stopped by on any Sunday, certain that something worth seeing was going on.

In this case it was another event but a sad one. Shannon says, people are coming by to say farewell to Tammy Hilton. It came as a shock. I had just seen her a few days earlier at another Deus event and snapped her photos. A lot of people did. Tammy was a familiar face at Deus and a lovely one at that with a lovely English accent she hailing from London. But suddenly she was no longer with us and everyone who knew her wanted to commemorate her life by doing what she most enjoyed… “Love Live Laugh”….and so that became the theme of the day’s event and one that also sought to raise funds for the experiences surrounding her passing.

While it was a day tinged with sorrow, it also echoed her passion for the SoCal lifestyle and especially the “bikers” that made up her extended family. That said, I was there and snapped my photos and I’d like to share them with you now. And if you feel like it, you can extend a contribution via Deus (www.deuscustoms.com-888.515.3387)
