Christmas is approaching fast and Toy Runs abound. Bandit rolled out to a Vago toy run across from Bartels H-D on the Sturgis Shovel. He rode with his son, Frank and some members of the Saints MC, hence I’m scribbling the intro and ending. Same-old-same-old around here; just trying to catch up with all the stuff Bandit has us involved with?
We?ve experienced some beautiful weather here in Los Angeles, but that’s not the case in other regions across the US. Let?s collectively pray for milder weather for our fellow Americans. I?m not really a religious person; but I do believe in the power of prayer.

THE BOB T. FXRP UPDATE– The FXR is getting there…Lot of parts in powder coating…..Long way to go…..replaceing all nuts and bolts and seals and etc….Front end is ready to go…..just waiting on lower legs…..did a complete rebuild on the front end…….Next I need to do the rear fender……short windshield on the way……Going with 9 1/2 inch risers and short drag bars….I will keep you udated………..

SPORTSTER CLUTCH PULL PROBLEM ADDRESSED– I’ve got a lady at my dealership with an 07 XL1200C who is having alot of trouble with the effort required to operate her clutch. I know after market reduced effort clutch springs exist but the only ones I find run 03 and earlier. I also know the later XL’s use a slightly reduced effort sping and lever configuration but it only reduces effort about 14%.
She had an 07 883 that she states was fine but that clutch uses a different spring that won’t operate correctly in a 1200. Do you know of anyone who makes a system or spring to reduce clutch effort for her current model?

MORE ON THE AMA SHAKE-UP– The AMA should let the racing division get into private ownership by professionals. That would keep racing as a viable, profit making enterprise. Dingman comes from a government relations background, and the AMA seriously needs to remain in that arena. Rob’s dismissal of long time employees in such a cold manner is out of character, but probably needed for him to implement his “plan”.
I wished if that move were necessary, it would have been more diplomatic. Alienating people of such stature as Youngblood will not serve him in keeping the remaining employees cohesive. An administration of fear will not last. I wish AMA the best and I’m concerned the riff there will not end soon.

Comments From Rogue On AMA Shake-up—Kirk, If he is looking to get rid of the racing portion and they are loosing money on that and he wants to get back into Government Relations It may be a good move on his part. Well for us anyway. I am looking at this and trying to get both sides before I comment. I do know many of the people involved and worked with them over the years.
I hope your meeting with Dingman goes well and I am Very Interested in what You have to say after it. The AMA has come a long way in their Government Relations over the years but may have been held back some by others with a different agenda. If he is going to take it to Government Relations I need to support him.
Time will tell.

AMA has been severely criticized for the last few years, mostly for the failings ? real, perceived, or contrived ? of its professional racing program, but instead of trying to fix the problem, Dingman has decided to get rid of it. He published a manifesto in Cycle News ? curiously, not in the AMA’s own magazine — that basically denounced the organization as fatally flawed and his own staff as incompetent. He announced that the AMA would just get out of the promotion of racing series, whatever that means.
He has declared that the AMA’s only historical area of competence is government relations, and that in the future it should focus its resources there.

Forge-Tec introduces FHO program FORGE-TEC Motorcycle has introduced a new wheel program called FHO (For Harleys Only). It has been designed from the ground up exclusively for Harley-Davidson dealers. The program offers Harley dealers four exclusive one-piece billet forged wheel styles, all designed with each one of H-D’s different bike models in mind. The dealers are offered the wheels in all popular sizes and applications (’84-’08 including ABS equipped models) and all have matching rotors and pulleys to display and sell.
They can also buy any one of Forge-Tec’s 13 other wheel designs, but these can also be found at other types of bike shops. No FHO wheels will be found at a dealership except Harley-Davidson stores.
All FHO wheels will be available from stock (only in the most popular sizes). The wheels are available in black powdercoated, polished, chrome and new for ’08, all styles (except the Legacy and the Nomad) will be available in ‘Midnight Series’ black anodized finish combined with classic machining.
