Merry Merry,
Hope you’re having some fun this holiday season and taking some time to visit friends. Time is the evil specter in this warm and fuzzy mix. Between work, shopping, projects and dealing with winter weather, it’s tough to carve out time to just relax and spend time with friends, but it’s the code of the west for this season.
As I write this I’m pointing the evil finger at myself. I could burn right through December working on bikes for next year, and now I have my son’s sorta wrecked Dyna in the shop for Christmas repairs. This weekend is a good example of tight schedules. Duane Ballard and Chris Callen, from the Cycle Source, are stopping by on Friday, plus my son to help with his bike. Larry Settle, who owns a shop in Harbor City, is rolling over to check my workmanship. Saturday will host the Moon Eyes Christmas party, and Boat Parades in Long Beach where dear old mom lives. Sunday will be the Century Motorcycle Christmas party in San Pedro.
Sunday will rock with the Dave Mann Chopper Fest in Ventura. We better get to the news, before Scott Long calls. He wants me to find out what’s wrong with his new Panhead engine from V-Twin. Hell, look what Jerry did with our T-Shirt Drive for our brothers and sisters in Iraq in Afghanistan? He took the time and made the effort for the troops in the Christmas spirit.
BIKERNET/ROLLIN’ SIXES/BIKERS CHOICE CHRISTMAS T-SHIRT DRIVE FOR THE TROOPS–Hey Bandit, We were up late last night moving boxes and folding shirts so we could be ready for wrap day tomorrow. Max and Linda from “The Tamiami Community Veterans & their Wives” met us at the hall. I was just going to write “The Tamiami Community Veterans” but all of a sudden my instincts for survival (which has keep me alive thru alot of stuff) just kicked in, so I will add the part about “& their wives”. I don’t want to be mauled by golf carts LOL.
We got everything set up and ready to start at 9.00 am the next day. The next day we got up and headed out to the hall to see who would show up to help us wrap. WOW, bro did we get a shock. There had to be I’m guessing 60 to 70 people already wrapping shirts, Christmas and military music blasting from the speakers and I do mean blasting. I felt like I just arrived at bootcamp on Santa’s Sleigh. Man, I’ve got to tell you bro we all had goose bumps as we walked in. No way did we expect that many folks to show up.
I can’t say enough about these people. You know how they say look up to and respect your elders, I guess that is really true, because I look up to and respect every one of them. At the end when they were done they came up to me, me the guy who needed their help and said thanks for letting them help out. That just blows me away. The generations behind me could learn alot from them.
We wrapped a little over 1,600 t-shirts plus other stuff and filled 43 boxes. The boxes in the pic’s are two deep. I know to some it’s not a lot but hey it’s not bad for something that started with a couple of guys talking thru late night emails. Thanks for all of your help man. This is turning into quite a thing. This is what Christmas is really about bro. I think we as a people have forgotten what it really means. It’s not big tv’s, expensive video games, or new cars (not in my neighborhood). It’s about people coming together to help each other and ease their pain. For a couple of days anyhow.
I want to say a big thanks to everyone who took the time to help me and Bandit out with this T-shirt drive because God knows you didn’t have to. What you do means so much to so many you could never know. Let’s hope they all come home soon.
Merry Christmas Bandit & Nyla, and everyone else who helped out this year from the Rollin Sixes Choppers family, Jerry, Pam, Jeremy, Elvis, Amy, George, Delilah, Ryan, Russell, Ma & Dad.

CUSTOM SEAT PROGRAM ADDS TOURING AND DYNA MODELS IN 2009–Create an Individual Seat Design from 800 Color, Material and Pattern Combinations.
MILWAUKEE (November 28, 2008) ? Expanded for 2009 to include Touring and Dyna models, the Custom Seat Program from Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories lets Harley-Davidson owners express their personality with pattern, color and texture, creating a custom leather seat that is hand-built to their specifications. Now available for many 1997-later Touring, Softail and FX Dyna models, the Custom Seat Program allows customers to design a solo Brawler seat ($399.95) or two-up Sidekick seat ($479.95) that is truly individual, using 800 possible design and materials combinations.
The design process begins at the Custom Seat Program website, (www.harley-davidson.com/customseat) where on-screen prompts help the customer select from two seat styles, eight stitching patterns including flames, skulls and tribal designs; eight inlay color options; and 10 stitching color options. When the design is complete, the customer takes a print-out of the seat design details to a local Harley-Davidson dealer, which will submit the Custom Seat Program order. The standard lead time for seat delivery is three weeks.
The low-profile Brawler and Sidekick seats selected for the Custom Seat Program are minimalist designs that hug the motorcycle. Each features a hand-laid fiberglass seat pan with a soft, felt-finish bottom that is scratch free. The seating surface is genuine leather, and the leather inlay options have a simulated exotic skin pattern. Each seat also has an embroidered Bar and Shield logo.
For additional information on Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories, see your local Harley-Davidson dealer or visit the Harley-Davidson Web site at www.harley-davidson.com. To find a dealer near you, call toll free 1-800-443-2153 in the U.S.A. or Canada.

Motorcycle Video Test Rides on WomenRidersNow.comThe only place online you can watch women testing a bike–December 4, 2008 ? (Livingston, MT) ? WomenRidersNow.com, the leading online magazine focused on women and motorcycling, now features motorcycle reviews in a web video format. Nowhere else online can you watch a qualified female journalist test riding a motorcycle.
?Video is fast becoming the premiere online tool for providing information online,? says Genevieve Schmitt, founder of WomenRidersNow.com. ?Our readers tell us that watching a motorcycle review in a video format is something they prefer.?
WomenRidersNow.com?s video test rides are called ?In The Saddle with Genevieve Schmitt? as Schmitt is the primary journalist reviewing the bikes. The latest review has Schmitt and popular WRN contributor Betsy Huelskamp test riding Hyosung Motorcycles? 250 GV and 650 GV cruisers. Schmitt has also reviewed Star Motorcycles? V Star 1300 and the Victory Motorcycles? Kingpin Deluxe. ?So much of a woman?s comfort level with a motorcycle is about fit. Our video test rides allow visitors to WRN actually see how I fit on a bike and watch how I handle it on the highway and in parking lots,? says Schmitt. ?A video helps viewers get a sense of a motorcycle?s ergonomics and power better than an article and a still photograph.?
WRN?s motorcycle videos also cover topics of interest to its mostly female readership, although men appreciate the videos and content, too. Recent videos include a segment on the expert women riders of the Ride Like A Pro precision riding team; a story on the largest women-only Harley-Davidson parade that took place at Daytona Bike Week in 2008; and a 16-year-old female motocross racer who is deaf.
Schmitt is an Emmy-nominated news magazine producer having worked for Good Morning America, Extra, and E! News Daily. She also appeared as a reporter on Speed Channel?s ?Bike Week? for six years covering motorcycling events all over the country. She brings that same high quality production value to WRN?s motorcycle videos.
