CHOPPER CLASS BUILDS MOMENTUM FOR DONNIE SMITH SHOW IN 2008– Here is some more info on the chopper class for the news. The S&S powered Sucker Punch build is coming along nicely, we need a transmission plate to put the five speed into the frame and a rear axle if anyone can help us out. The ’47 knucklehead build is off to paint and the ’42 WLA is about ready to be fired up for the first time in 50 years. Our Leroy Thompson build is going slow as the motor needed a total rebuild and we can not get wheels donated for the build. Any help from anyone please e-mail me through my website http://www.baasmetalcraft.com
This year we will have all four bikes hopefully on display at the Donnie Smith Invitational as well as the first year ’57 panhead build of mine that started the whole class choppin’ history. I also am now writing for Cycle source magazine and just saw in the new issue I was awarded the 2007 Motorcycling man of the year..wow what an honor thanks to all who voted for me..I do not feel worthy of the honor and share the award with everyone who supported me in the chopper class dream!
Remember”Support you high school chopPer class” It is the future of our breed!

Ridley Announces 37 Month Factory Backed Warranty Program– OKLAHOMA CITY (12/04/07) – Ridley Motorcycle Company, the world’s only manufacturer of automatic motorcycles, announced today a new warranty program for their 2008 models. The new warranty, called “2 Year Plus”, will provide 25 months standard on all 2008 models and is not limited by mileage. In addition to the “2 Year Plus” program, the new models come with an additional 12 month option. This gives the buyer 37 months of total available warranty from Ridley.
“This warranty goes beyond what most every domestic manufacturer will offer,” said Clay Ridley, president and founder of Ridley Motorcycle Company. “We manufacture each Ridley by hand in our factory in Oklahoma City. So, we believe in the quality of our automatic motorcycles.”
The program is backed entirely through Ridley Motorcycle Company. The company chose to back the warranty, instead of turning it over to a third party, so that all initial coverage will remain the same throughout the life of the warranty.
“Increasing our warranty is a way of showing Ridley stands behind our motorcycles,” said Jay Ridley, vice president of Ridley Motorcycle Company. “Many manufacturers will farm out their warranties to other companies, but we prefer to work directly with our customer with any service issues that may come up.”
The 37 month program is available in three phases. The first 12 months, all warranty items are covered 100 percent regardless of mileage. The standard warranty is continued for the next 13 months with no mileage limit and no additional cost to the buyer except a $100 deductible. The Ridley 12 month extended warranty is available at an additional cost of $595 and a $100 deductible keeping the unlimited mileage opportunity open.
Ridley is introducing many new model options for 2008 including a redesigned Sport, a completely new Auto-Glide standard model, and an automatic, three-wheeled, limited edition “Trike”. Base model prices range from $13,995 to $25,995. Ridley Motorcycles are sold throughout the world. Their dealership network spans over 60 US markets, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Japan. Ridley is looking to expand into the majority of the EU member countries in the near future.

PERFORMANCE IN A BOTTLE– No matter if you’re running hard on the street, smokin’ the 1/4 or packing cross country, today’s American V-Twin motorcycle engines require lubrication capable of addressing excessive load operating temperatures and high performance stress like never before. Formulated by Lubeatech Performance Technologies specifically to meet and exceed these unique requirements, LAT High Performance Full Synthetic Motorcycle oil provides superior levels of wear protection, high stability and exceptional resistance to thermal breakdown.
Consisting of group IV and V base oils treated with LAT extreme pressure additive, LFR, the new lubricant provides superior sustained high RPM protection, high flash point and extreme wear protection for maximum horsepower and torque. Additionally during independent tests LAT was shown to provide significant increases in horsepower and torque while reducing running temperatures.
Currently available in 20w/50 for American V-Twins. For complete visit the LAT web site at

S&S ANNOUNCES X-WEDGE UNVEILING IN JAPAN– LA CROSSE, WI (December 7, 2007) S&S Cycle? announces the unveiling of the all-new X-Wedge? engine at the Cool Breaker Show in Yokohama, Japan.
Working with Chopper Dave of Chopper Dave’s Casting Company in Hawaiian Gardens, California, the X-Wedge was incorporated in Dave’s new project, The Secret Weapon. Aside from the Project X bikes that toured with S&S this year, Chopper Dave built the first real chopper with an X-Wedge just for this show.
“This was my third trip to the Cool Breaker show and this was perhaps the most exciting because we were there to not only support the show, but also to unveil the X-Wedge with Chopper Dave,” said S&S president, Brett Smith. “What was especially gratifying for me was to have my cousin and another 3rd generation family member, Michael Scaletta, present to experience the event after having spent several days visiting our dealers. We both agreed that Chopper Dave did an excellent job taking our new engine and presenting it in an ‘Old School’ fashion.”
There are many special features on this bike like the cast aluminum gas tank and the cutaway belt cover on the cam side. The X-Wedge utilizes three belt-driven cams in a belt chest making this custom trick possible. The Secret Weapon is a bare-bones bike made to ride. Light and nimble, with plenty of braking power to reel in the torque of the 117ci X-Wedge, is the best way to describe this minimalist bike. Said Chopper Dave of his project, “I am building this bike to ride, I hate bikes that you can’t really ride so I’m setting it up as a fast street bike, modeled after the club bikes out of Frisco in the early 70’s.”
The Cool Breaker Show in Yokohama, Japan is a huge event for S&S. It allows S&S staff to spend quality time with customers and dealers in Japan, learn what they are looking for from S&S. Additionally, the caliber of the bikes at the show is nothing short of amazing.
“I would like to personally thank Chopper Dave for his hard work and passion for allowing the S&S unveiling of the X-Wedge to be successful in Japan,” said Michael Scaletta, Director of Business Development. “As a 3rd generation family member of S&S, I am very excited about the Japanese market; especially the passion and enthusiasm the Japanese have for American v-twin motorcycles,” continued Scaletta.
Chopper Dave will have the Secret Weapon back in the states soon and plans on using it for daily transportation around Southern California. Additional information about the all-new X-Wedge can be found at

STURGIS RIDER LIVE TO SHOOT ASSALT WEAPAN FOR FEATURE– They’re trying to find a model who matches the bomber girl image on the front of the bike.
This is Jerry Southworth, Charlie’s photographer, graphics guy, friend & helper. I just wanted to write you myself and say THANK YOU for the opportunity it is truly an honor to work with you and shoot that bad ass bike of yours!! I am really looking forward to coming down for this shoot! I can get a model that look just as good if not better! My goal is to replicate the girl on the fender to the T. Hair, body, dress and machine gun. What I can’t do in a photo I can create or fix in photoshop! If you have a minute, take a look at some of my work.
Commercial site: –Jerry Southworth NEW BUILD SHOW COMING–We all know Biker Builder Off and Build Or Bust are sorely missed by some of us, but it’s time to get ready for the ultimate bike building competition. The Next Great American Builder is on the hunt for amateur motorcycle builders to face off in a head to head challenge that pits guts against technical know how. Pulled from some of the country’s top talent. Judged by the world’s hottest builders. These contenders will go head to head in a state of the art workshop building a bike of their own design over the course of a season. Each episode a new back breaking challenge. Billy Lane and Paul Cox are just two of the experts who will determine their fate. Only one will be named The Next Great American Builder. Do you think you have what it takes or know someone who does? Go to: www.greatamericanbuilder.tv OR myspace.com/greatamericanbuilder to enter and check out our weekly updates! NEWEST FEATURE BUILDER IN STREET CHOPPER–Hey Bandit… What’s happening down in warm and sunny So Cal? It’s cold as hell in Seattle, but at least it’s not raining! Hey, just wanted to let you know that Matt Adams from Redsoul is the “Busted Knuckles” featured builder in the newest issue of Street Chopper Magazine. Check it out, it’s should already be in the mail and on newstands. It’s a great article about the shop and the the chopper scene in Seattle. I am including a shot of the tins Matt crafted for my current build. Between help from Matt and Joe at Redsoul, Todd from Todd’s Cycle, Fab Kevin and some cool cats on the Horse board and Jockey Jounral… this project is turning out to be pretty sick. Not bad for what started life as a 94 FLHTP Police Bike. More to come.. –Eric Maurer THE SUNDAY ENDING–I’m sorta stymied this Sunday. We’ve scrambled all weekend trying to wrap up projects and make it to gatherings and events. I don’t remember a holiday season as harried as this, but it’s all good, and I don’t want to project any negative waves. I know so many of us feel pressure and depression during the holidays, and I only want to give off joy and love vibes. Where’s that redhead? Actually none of my nail-biting has anything to do with the holidays, it’s mostly deadlines, mods to the Assalt Weapan and plans for next year. So while I’m running around the headquarters like a cat with its tail on fire, kick back, point at me and crack a joke about the drunk biker with his shit scattered all over. We gotta keep in mind that another glistening summer is just around the bend. Let’s see. Here’s what’s on the list for next week. We have another Green Bike feature haunting us, a review from Australia on Ewan McGreagor’s new riding movie, a road test on a bike that’s no longer made, the W8-Less rotor installation tech, a new fairing for the Assalt weapan and I’m looking for 2-3 bike trailer for transporting both Bonneville Bikes. One that lowers to the ground for loading. There’s so much more headed our way for our Year of the Veteran plans. A couple of techs are about to boil in Rogue’s kitchen, and I may post a Kawasaki bike feature next week, and it’s not green. Hang on. Kick back and enjoy. Let us handle all the stress for you. Ride Forever, –Bandit
