THAT’S NOT ALL BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for June 28, 2018

Hey, I’m in a difficult situation. When I first watched “The Inconvenient Truth” I was impressed. But I’m a biker and sort of a journalist. I questioned it. How could man have such a massive impact on the climate? I started to question these findings like all journalists should and the info surfaced. Global warming doesn’t exist, ice is growing and we have more polar bears than ever. It was all a governmental lie to allow them to control everything. When the atmosphere started to cool they changed their tactic to Climate Change. That allowed them to blame everything that happened from car accidents to earthquakes, to rainfall on us. Scary stuff.. Now we are facing another California move to force us all ride electric bikes. But last night a young man said to me, “Just don’t mention Climate Change.” It’s so interesting. Even guys in the industry who make pipes are afraid to discuss this issue. We are all a bunch of white guys who destroyed the planet and must be punished. But it ain’t true. We didn’t destroy the planet. The Climate will continue to change like it has done for 13 billion years, whether we ride choppers with fishtails or not. So there! Read more.

Harley-Davidson CEO Responds To Fake Quote Attributed To Him

“It is shameful that we live in a time when people need to create fake quotes attributed to others on social media. There is a fake quote attributed to me that is circulating. This is false. I want you to know that I have not, nor would I ever speak about the President of the United States in that way. Or anyone else for that matter.” – Matt Levatich, President and CEO, Harley-Davidson, Inc.

Harley-Davidson To Shift Some Production Overseas To Avoid E.U. Tariffs

Harley-Davidson, up against spiraling costs from tariffs, will begin shifting the production of motorcycles headed for Europe from the U.S. to factories overseas. The European Union on Friday began rolling out tariffs on American imports like bourbon, peanut butter and orange juice. The EU tariffs on $3.4 billion worth of U.S. products are retaliation for duties the Trump administration is imposing on European steel and aluminum. Harley-Davidson sold almost 40,000 motorcycles in the Europe Union last year, generating revenue second only to the United States, according to the company. Read more.

Ducati King Of The Mountain At Pikes Peak

Ducati racer Carlin Dunne has led the 2018 Spider Grips Ducati Pikes Peak team to victory during this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). Dunne completed today’s “Race to the Clouds” in 9:59:102. This is Dunne’s fourth victory at Pikes Peak. “We did it. We took the podium,” said Dunne, who notably was the first motorcyclist ever to traverse the 4,720-foot Pikes Peak race course in less than 10 minutes in 2012. “The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak proved as amazing as we all hoped. It performed flawlessly, giving me everything I needed to get up the mountain. Pikes Peak is never an easy race, but the weather cooperated and we clinched the victory for Ducati.” This is Ducati’s seventh victory on the mountain since the company’s debut in 2008. Ducati and Dunne held the all-time course record from 2012 until 2017, a year in which Ducati was not part of the official race competition. Dunne’s previous victory in 2012 was achieved on the game-changing Multistrada 1200 S. This year, Dunne secured the win on the new Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak model. The new Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak showcases the versatility of a new, larger displacement 1262 cc Ducati Testastretta DVT engine delivering 18% more torque in the mid-range. The bike is also paired with a redesigned chassis for increased stability. Rounding out the Ducati team this year was new member Codie Vahsholtz, who finished in third with a time of 10:12:703. Vahsholtz is a Colorado native who comes from a family of Pikes Peak champions and has established a series of victories of his own. This year, for the 96th running of the “Race to the Clouds,” Ducati partnered with Shell Advance, Brembo, Pirelli, Termignoni, Spider Grips, Ducati by Rizoma, Race Tech, Revl and Racing Cowboys.
