Daring acrobats, death-defying stuntmen, fire-breathing women, larger-than-life theatrical performances and side-show oddities are all part of the spectacle guests expect from a good, old fashioned, three-ring circus. When one views incredible events like these through the mind of the motorcyclist, what develops is the super-charged circus on steroids Sturgis Rally attendees will find this August at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.
In ring number one the Air Sex Championships will merge real life with imaginary sex twice daily on the Buffalo Chip’s showcase stages. Comedian and host Chris Trew will invite guests to take part in his politely offensive and utterly hilarious interactive stage show on the Jägermeister and Bikini Beach stages. And, the International UniMotorCyclist Society will battle it out at the PowerSports Complex on Saturday, Aug. 8 in a series of drag races like no other, all on one wheel with no brakes or steering. Those badass bikers on one wheel will also host some of the zaniest events at the rally including sticky whipped cream wrestling, slippery lesbian oil wrestling, funky burlesque Mardi Gras contest and more all open to any adult wanting to win big cash prizes.
In ring number two is the Seattle Cossacks. For more than 75 years this group of motorcycle acrobats has been building human pyramids high atop moving, vintage, Harley-Davidsons. Audiences will witness authentic daredevils performing tricks on motorcycles older than the Sturgis Rally. They will bring their rolling show to the CrossRoads at the Buffalo Chip with three shows daily Tuesday through Thursday, including their death-defying “Wall of Fire” show at 7 p.m.
In the third ring is a death-defying jump in the Buffalo Chip’s amphitheater that will end with an unlikely victory or an unspeakable tragedy. On Thursday, Aug, 6, 2015 Doug Danger will attempt the motorcycle stunt the great Evel Knievel® was never able to complete — a 22-car jump on Evel’s own vintage 1972 Harley-Davidson XR-750.
“This is the greatest show on earth,” declared Rod Woodruff, president of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “You won’t find a more entertaining collection of exciting stunts, daring performances and silly clowning around at any other rally in the world.”
The week-long event will be topped by internationally renowned midget wrestling sensation, Short Sleeve Sampson who will be consorting with bowlers to hurl him down an alley, the fire-breathing and aerial artistry of Illumination Fire Troupe, homemade bikini and beer belly contests and silly pickle lickers on the Kinison Stage. All of these astounding acts will be presented in addition to nine nights of world-class concerts performed on the Wolfman Jack stage in the amphitheater.
Events taking place at the Buffalo Chip’s CrossRoads, such as the performances by the Seattle Cossacks and the Air Sex Championships, are free.
