Kevin Clemens, who holds a world speed record for electric motorcycles, will return to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah next week to try to break two other records.
Clemens, who is 56 and lives in Lake Elmo, said he wants to top 68 mph in the altered, partially-streamlined class with a 150-kilogram (330-pound) electric motorcycle he designed, built and will ride.
He also will compete in the 300-kilogram sidecar class, hoping to break the national record of 50 mph.
New this year: Each bike will be recharged with two 190-watt solar panels.
