Andrew Hines battled to his second Pro Stock Motorcycle final-round victory in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs at the NHRA Keystone Nationals. On his V-Rod, Hines has two wins in four Countdown events and now has a commanding 89-point lead on the Pro Stock Motorcycle field with three races left.
“Our V-Rod bikes are fast off the truck,” said Hines, the four-time and defending Pro Stock Motorcycle champion. “We had a good setup right away on Saturday and just made some fine adjustments for the cold track on Sunday. My V-Rod even saved its quickest run of the weekend for the final and we leave here with another win.”
Hines has three wins for the entire 2015 season and 41 career wins in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category. After four of six Countdown rounds, Hines leads the Pro Stock Motorcycle category with 2,378 points. Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Ed Krawiec is in second place with 2,289 points.
Krawiec led all qualifiers for the event as his V-Rod blasted down the track in 6.802 seconds in the sole round of rain-shortened qualifying on Saturday. Hines qualified second at 6.816 seconds. Krawiec advanced to the semi-finals in Sunday eliminations and moved up from third place in the Countdown points standings.
“With limited qualifying races all the teams faced a challenge in finding a good tune-up for race day,” said Krawiec. “In that regard, the deep experience of this Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle team really paid off this weekend.”
The fourth round of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship takes place Oct. 15-18 at the 30th annual AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.
