Champion Women Motorcycle Racer And More at Revved-Up Women Texas Motorcycle Exposition–
Join nationally-known women motorcyclists at Revved-Up Women—Texas Motorcycle Expo April 28-30, at Retama Park, near San Antonio, TX. Attendees will enjoy guided rides, workshops and panel discussions by recognized leaders in the motorcycle industry, beginner and advanced rider classes, a fashion show, and a free Sunday brunch.

“It’s a combination rally, conference and tradeshow for experienced and new riders,” said Teresa Kelly, spokesperson for the inaugural family-friendly event. “It’s also unique in that it will offer women and girls who have never ridden a bike before the chance to experience this amazing sport safely and enjoyably.”

Among the highlights will be two panel discussions among leading motorcycle media, industry executives and riders about whether brands are meeting the needs of women, and if not, how they might improve. Moderated by Genevieve Schmitt, editor and publisher of Women Riders Now and considered a leading voice in women’s motorcycling, the panel includes women executives from Polaris, Harley-Davidson, BMW, and motorcycle media.

Champion motorcycle racer Shelina Moreda and her professional She’z Moto coaches will be on hand to provide “Kickstart” motorcycle riding introduction and advanced courses for ages 10 and up. Most recently she won the women’s championship in Qatar and scored a podium finish in China in the (men’s) Superbike race.

More than 16 workshops will include presentations by:
•Brittany Morrow, international Rock the Gear safety expert
•Genevieve Schmitt, editor and publisher of Women Riders Now
•Krystal Hess, owner of Ricochet Custom and founder of Motorcycle Missions
•Jen Dalton, The Litas international motorcycle group

Fiesta Circle for Life Ride

The first 100 people to register for the expo will get free ticket to participate in Fiesta San Antonio’s Circle for Life escorted motorcycle ride fundraiser to raise awareness of the need for organ donations. The 85-mile ride on April 29 begins in Bourne, TX, and ends at Retama Park. Major event sponsor Edwards Motorcycle Law is underwriting the free ride passes with a $5,000 donation to the charity, and will also be providing a free fiesta lunch for all expo ticket holders who participate in the ride.

“We hope to make this an annual event to promote safe motorcycle riding as something the whole family can participate in and enjoy,” said Billy Edwards, of the Edwards Law Firm, which has offices in Corpus Christi and San Antonio.

The Cody Bryan Band will play on Friday night, and LC Rocks will play on Saturday night.

For vendor and sponsor information call 512-695-4626 or visit the expo website.

BIKERNET TRIKES EDITOR NEWS BLAST, SORTA– I recently met a Chinese man and got to know that his name was Kannaswami.

I asked him, “How did you ever get a name like that being a Chinese?”

He said -“Many, many years ago when I first went to USA, I was standing in line at the Political Asylums Immigration Counter. The man in front of me was a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee.

The white lady at the counter looked at him and asked “What is your name?” He replied “Kannaswami.”

Then she looked at me and asked “What’s your name?”

I said, “Sem Ting”.

Guys, please be careful about what you buy online. If u buy stuff online please check out the seller very carefully. Our resident hippie Raymond Hamilton from BikernetTrikes.com just lost US $.545/- plus tax on a penis enlarger.

The bastard seller sent him a magnifying glass.

The only instructions that came along with it were “DO NOT USE IN SUNLIGHT.”

Monster Twin Cam Race Engines from JIMS

I’m really considering replacing my ‘05 deuce twin cam 88 with a 120-inch JIMS. Does the 120 have the auto compression relief valves or do you have to have relief valves installed? Also would like to know the cost of these engines & if I ordered one can I get the jugs diamond cut. I know that would be extra.

I do realize that I’d be forced to change transmission over to the Screamin’ Eagle race. Would this engine require a high torque starter & the bigger 64mm intake?

If you can I’d like to get a quote on a 120 w/diamond cut jugs, & any information on anything else that would be require to change my bike over to the 120 engine.

LAW TIGERS– WELCOME TO LAW TIGERS
Helping Injured Riders Nationwide

Law Tigers is proud to be Cory Texter’s premier sponsor this season!

Following his most successful season in professional motorcycle racing, Cory Texter is preparing to contest the 2017 American Flat Track Championship. Texter made a lot of noise this past year with two podium finishes and ninth overall in the final points standings. He will again compete in the Twins class under his own banner, Cory Texter Racing.

Sour Punch Candy has agreed to be the title sponsor of Cory Texter Racing. Sour Punch Candy came on as a sponsor at the end of the 2016 season and will be stepping up its efforts to help Texter battle against the factory teams this season. Sour Punch is a big supporter of action sports and excited about its involvement in American Flat Track.

“We are very excited to work with Cory again this year”, said Mia Newman from Sour Punch Candy. “He’s been an important partner in reaching a younger audience for the Sour Punch brand. We wish Cory a successful and safe 2017 season and we are behind him 100%.”

Also stepping up support is long-time sponsor McElroy Packaging from Wooster, Ohio. The McElroy family has been supporting both Cory Texter and his sister, Shayna, for several seasons and will return as a premier sponsor in 2017.

Law Tigers Motorcycle Lawyers will also serve as a premier sponsor. Law Tigers is a national network of local motorcycle accident attorneys who are committed to protecting fellow motorcycle riders. They are based in 10 states across the country and big fans of American Flat Track. Law Tigers promotes the Arizona Mile.

Don’s Kawasaki and DPC Racing will join forces with CTR this season. Don and Erin Kissinger are longtime friends of the Texter family and their support will be a driving force in Texter’s efforts. Dan Caulkins from DPC Racing is sure to add another major component to the team’s success.

“I am really excited and truly blessed to have so many people behind me this season who believe in me and want to see me succeed,” said Texter. “Last season was a good year and we had some successful races, but I know we can build on what we accomplished last year and contend for race wins in 2017.”

Mechanic Justin Bender will also return to the team this season. Bender and Texter worked together last season and look to build momentum on what they learned in 2016.

The team will have three Kawasaki twin-cylinder motorcycles in its arsenal this season. Alan Rodenborn will build engines, while Gordy Schopieray is responsible for producing the CTR machines. Texter will also race Lancaster Honda-sponsored CRF450Rs at other events in various series throughout the season.

“I am putting in a lot of work this winter to prepare myself for a long and busy season,” said Texter. “There are some factory teams that have really stepped up their efforts in 2017, but I believe my self-owned team with the people I have behind me can contend with the best of them.”

The 2017 American Flat Track season will kick off with the Daytona TT on March 16 inside Daytona International Speedway. Be sure to watch coverage of all 18 AFT national events this season starting in July on NBC Sports.

THE MAGNIFICENT BORN TO RIDE BUILD-OFF– It began as a simple idea from business partners Gary Bang and Preston Farrior with very modest parameters: Build a bagger and mid-sized cruiser, using 90 percent Harley Davidson parts that would be cool enough for the VP and Prez of The Florida Harley Group to enjoy riding.

Wow how a fun, little notion turned into a bold, huge event just five years later.

The Florida Harley Group invites you to its Annual Bike Build Off March 2 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Brandon Harley Davidson, located at 9841 E. Adamo Dr., where it will unveil the latest quests for art, heart, power and design during a search for the Baddest Bagger. The competition is between the five Florida Harley Group stores – Tampa, Brandon, New Port Richey, Panama City Beach, and Tallahassee Harley-Davidson.

Each store was given approximately $13,000 to customize a bagger that six judges, including Bang, Farrior and some H-D execs, will evaluate using a point system. Bang said if the audience in attendance and online at Facebook Live are loud enough, they might be able to sway the judges with some points for their favorites as well.

This year, a new twist was added to the competition – teams also had to build a cool mid-sized cruiser within a $4,000 budget.

“Times have changed,” Bang said. “Now the gloves are off. The theme is ‘Stuck in the 90s’ – custom made our way. A lot of people don’t want to do that anymore. We’re back doing custom work and it’s a great morale booster for teamwork and fun.”

Popular stunt rider Cole Freeman, a.k.a. “Lil Krazy”, of Ill Conduct stunt team, shook down a few of the bikes in with some pre-event rides to get them street ready. Since these bikes have either been pre-sold or will be for sale after the event – at prices that have topped more than $40,000 in the past – Born To Ride looks at all 10 bikes, with a primary focus on the Bad Baggers, and what went into the custom fabrications and after-market add-ons.

AMA HALL OF FAME EFFORT WITH WORKS PERFORMANCE—
I ran into the son of Charles Curnutt who designed the first long travel dirt bike shocks, basically changing the sport for the better forever. There has been some talk of nominating Charles for the AMA Hall of Fame.

His son spoke to Gil, the founder of Works Performance, who at one time worked for Charles and there was some talk of this nomination. I tried to reach Gil and discovered he passed away, and Charles also has health issues. If you know of this effort or would like to help, don’t hesitate to nominate Charles and or reach out to me, KRB@Bikernet.com.

In 1973, Works Performance Products began producing unique off-road shocks, with a revolutionary damping system. At the same time, Works Performance started a tradition of winning championships.

Trump Should Be Appalled by Police Asset Forfeiture–
Cops can seize cash, cars and real estate without its owner ever being charged or convicted of a crime.

America’s sheriffs have given President Trump a woefully inaccurate view of civil asset forfeiture—the process through which police seize, and prosecutors literally sue, cash, cars and real estate that they suspect may be connected to a crime. “People want to say we’re taking money and without due process. That’s not true,” a Kentucky sheriff told the president last month at a White House meeting. Critics of forfeiture, the sheriff added, simply “make up stories.”

In fact, thousands of Americans have had their assets taken without ever being charged with a crime, let alone convicted. Russ Caswell almost lost his Massachusetts motel, which had been run by his family for more than 50 years, because of 15 “drug-related incidents” there from 1994-2008, a period through which he rented out nearly 200,000 rooms.

Maryland dairy farmer Randy Sowers had his entire bank account—roughly $60,000—seized by the IRS, which accused him of running afoul of reporting requirements for cash deposits. Mandrel Stuart had $17,550 in receipts from his Virginia barbecue restaurant confiscated during a routine traffic stop. A manager of a Christian rock band had $53,000 in cash—profits from concerts and donations intended for an orphanage in Thailand—seized in Oklahoma after being stopped for a broken taillight. All of the property in these outrageous cases was eventually returned, but only after an arduous process.

This kind of abuse has united reformers on all sides of the political debate: progressives, conservatives, independents, even a few former drug warriors. Since 2014 nearly 20 states and the District of Columbia have enacted laws limiting asset forfeiture or increasing transparency. Nearly 20 other states are considering similar legislation. Last week a reform bill passed the Indiana Senate 40-10. It would require a criminal conviction before a court can declare a person’s assets forfeited.

Another good step for state and federal legislators would be to bar agencies from keeping the money they seize. Today more than 40 states and the federal government permit law-enforcement agencies to retain anywhere from 45% to 100% of forfeiture proceeds. As a result, forfeiture has practically become an industry.

The Institute for Justice, where we work, has obtained data on asset forfeiture across 14 states, including California, Texas and New York. Between 2002 and 2013, the revenue from forfeiture more than doubled, from $107 million to $250 million. Federal confiscations have risen even faster. In 1986 the Justice Department’s Assets Forfeiture Fund collected $93.7 million. In 2014 the number was $4.5 billion.

Allowing police and prosecutors to keep part of what they confiscate gives them an incentive to target cash instead of criminals. In 2011 a Nashville TV news station investigated seizures on nearby interstate highways. Drugs usually came in on the eastbound lanes, while the money would flow out on the westbound lanes. The reporters found that police made “10 times as many stops on the money side.” They were less focused on stopping the drugs than on grabbing the cash.

Or consider a program under the Drug Enforcement Administration for paying confidential sources, the subject of a blistering federal audit last fall. An informant who provides intelligence resulting in forfeiture can receive as much as 25% of the confiscated property’s value—up to $500,000. The audit examined nine DEA informants in the parcel industry who offered tips in 205 cases. That led to $5.8 million in seizures and $1.2 million in payments to sources, but only a single confiscation of an illegal substance.

To prevent these abuses, lawmakers in Alaska, Connecticut, North Dakota and Texas have sponsored legislation that would send confiscated proceeds directly to the general fund of the state or county. Similar measures in Arizona and Hawaii would restrict forfeiture proceeds to being used to compensate crime victims and their families.

Yet sometimes police circumvent state restrictions by routing forfeitures through a federal program known as “equitable sharing.” By cooperating with the feds they can seize property for forfeiture under federal law, and then receive a cut—up to 80% of the proceeds. From 2001-14 nearly 62,000 people had $2.5 billion confiscated under equitable sharing, according to the Washington Post. All of those seizures occurred “without search warrants or indictments.”

Fortunately, states are now closing this loophole, too. Last fall California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that, in most cases, requires a criminal conviction before any California agency can receive equitable-sharing proceeds. In January Ohio Gov. John Kasich approved legislation to ban his state’s police and prosecutors from transferring seized property to federal agencies unless its value is more than $100,000. Similar reforms have been introduced in Colorado, New Hampshire and a handful of other states.

Interest in stopping civil forfeiture has never been greater, and it isn’t based on fables. We hope Mr. Trump will take a fresh look and seize the opportunity to defend American property rights—and return law enforcement’s focus to prosecuting criminals.

AUSTRALIAN CLUB NEWS–
Rebels MC Club leader Alex Vella tells of his life in exile

He once led arguably Australia’s largest motorcycle club, but former club leader Alex Vella now spends his days writing poetry and raising pet budgerigars.

‘The Maltese Falcon’, as he’s known to both loved ones and his enemies, had a ferocious reputation but now, at 64, he hardly seemed a threat with his pet bird “Champion” pressed against his cheek.

News Corp reporters met Mr Vella outside a small cafe in Mosta, a small town in central Malta, armed with a folder of old news stories and poetry scribbled on the back of envelopes and loose pieces of paper.

He no longer wore club colors of club he once headed, the Rebels, because, he says “they are more trouble than they’re worth”.
The thick moustache, snakeskin boots and mullet hairstyle remain the same, and stand out in the crowd on this small Mediterranean island where he’s been in exile since 2014.

Two fat golden rings sparkled as he shook hands with the strength worthy of a retired professional boxer who was named light-heavyweight champion of Malta in 1978. Mr Vella did not speak about his former club at first but instead heads to the back of the cafe, ordered a round of cappuccinos and started reciting his favorite poems.

“Charlie was no fool, he came from the old school,” he quotes a verse about a cousin of his who died a few years back.

The colorful father-of-two chuckled when he revealed he could not read or write and often asked passers-by and friends in Malta to scribble down words and rhymes as they came to him.

“I cannot read and write but I can count,” he said when pressed about how he earned his money. “I worked hard as a bricklayer and a laborer and even as a bouncer at the clubs for a while. “My cousin taught me how to make smart investments and that’s what I did. The Australian Government made me prove where all my money came from a while back and I was able to do so.”

After a second round of cappuccinos and several stories about his former boxing glory, Mr Vella agreed to show the dilapidated apartment block he now called home. The unit was owned by a friend who let Mr Vella stay for free. It was tucked away on a side-street filled with buildings that were crumbling with age, and stray cats out the front searching for food.

No walls separated his bedroom from his kitchen and his small balcony was crowded by a large cage filled with a small army of squawking budgies.

It was a far-cry from his home in western Sydney which came with a fleet of luxury cars and motorcycles. “This is Champion,” he says proudly, holding up a white and red-splashed bird which lets Mr Vella handle him without much fuss. “I used to have so many animals and birds in Australia but these are all I have now.” Above all, he misses his wife Heather Vella deeply and says their time apart has taken a toll on their marriage.

Mr Vella adamantly denies being involved in organized crime. Police say their data sheds a different light on the club that he ran. During 2011 and 2012, while Mr Vella was in charge, more than 700 Rebels club members were investigated in relation to 1200 charges. The evidence of a criminal culture was enough for the Government to revoke his visa – and for the Federal Court to deny his appeal.

THE IOWA DUI LAWS–
Iowa lawmakers introduced two bills last month that would require motorists who are arrested or convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) to undergo a twice-daily in-person sobriety testing. Those who pass can go about their day. Those who don’t go straight to jail.

The proposed 24/7 sobriety bills are aimed at repeat offenders, and first-time offenders whose blood alcohol concentration exceeded 0.15 percent at arrest. Offenders would also have to install and use ignition interlock devices in their vehicles and unless they can prove they can’t afford it, pay for the daily monitoring and the fees for the interlock devices.

The 24/7 sobriety program has been embraced in Alaska, Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming plus all but four counties in South Dakota. Thirteen states are currently conducting pilot programs and four more plan to do so soon.

In South Dakota, officials have noted since the legislated sobriety program began there has been a dramatic decrease in traffic fatalities due to DUI. They claim the recidivism rate for convicted DUI motorists has decreased as well.

Late last year in Iowa, a statewide governor’s task force convened to tackle the issue of impaired driving. The twice-daily in-person breath test was just one of 66 proposals recommended by the group.

If the 24/7 sobriety bills pass in Iowa, judges would have the authority to order an offender to take part as a condition of bond, pretrial release or sentencing. The Board of Parole could also require participation.

Twice before Iowa lawmakers have proposed a similar bill. In 2016, the legislation stalled in the House after Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) opposed the bill.

MADD is pushing for interlock devices on all vehicles driven by DUI offenders and generally oppose any new DUI bill without that measure. “The 24/7 program is more like a treatment of alcoholism,” said J.T. Griffin, MADD’s chief government affairs officer. He added, “Ignition interlocks are geared toward protecting the public, because they keep people from drinking and driving.”

ACLU of Iowa Legal Director Rita Bettis described the 24/7 sobriety program as a “dramatic overreach” that requires full-time sobriety instead of targeting “a lack of sobriety when driving.” The ACLU also opposes motorists participating in the program who had not yet been convicted of a crime. Montana’s Supreme Court ruled in 2015 that requiring 24/7 participation by people charged but not convicted with drunk driving did not violate their rights to due process.

The 2015 Federal Highway Bill provided funding to states for the 24/7 sobriety program giving it parity with ignition interlocks. Incentives for states to work out the 24/7 laws will continue beyond the twenty-two states that have programs or have already shown interest.

Being arrested for drunk driving is a serious offense and can have cataclysmic personal consequences such as jail time, hefty fines, ongoing monitoring, loss of auto insurance and even the loss of a job.

DUI Laws Update: Part 3 will explore the current financial costs of a DUI conviction.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN FOR LUNCH–
A couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Their domestic tranquility had long been the talk of the town. A local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of their long and happy marriage.

“Well, it dates back to our honeymoon,” explained the man. “We visited the Grand Canyon and took a trip down to the bottom on the canyon by pack mule. We hadn’t gone too far when my wife’s mule stumbled.

My wife quietly said, ‘That’s once.’ We proceeded a little further and the mule stumbled again.

Once more my wife quietly said, ‘That’s twice.’ Hadn’t gone a half- mile when the mule stumbled the third time. My wife quietly removed a revolver from her pocket and shot the mule dead.

I started to yell at her for her treatment of the mule when she looked at me and quietly said ‘That’s once.”

UNCLE MONKEY ON THE WINTER BLUES–
As the cold winter air sweeps across the nation we are driven indoors. No lazy evenings on the deck watching the sun set, no hikes through the scenic surrounds of our homes.

Winter keeps us in the garage tinkering away at projects with the door closed as the cold tries to force its way in. It is nights in front of the TV cheering for our favorite sports team. It’s curling up on the sofa with the old lady and watching that chick flick you had to agree to so that you could watch the Super Bowl uninterrupted.

As the days turn into weeks and drag into the months the walls start to close in around us. We notice the old computer collecting dust since you got the laptop. We notice the dust under our glasses as we set them down. We tire of tripping over the same box of old parts every single time we have to get to that corner of the garage.

Our project creates more old parts, too good to be thrown away, but they just get tossed on top of the previous winter stash of old iron. This constriction finally pushes us into spring cleaning. The bike lift gets pushed to the back wall and all the metal chips finally make it into pail.

Parts are sorted and designated as swap meet fodder and this year you mean it. The old lady notices you with a dust rag in your hand as you finally clear the empties from the end table beside the recliner.

You finally hang that picture of the Badlands that has been leaning against the wall. You finally go through the closet collecting the old t-shirts you’ll give to goodwill. Some sweeping here, some mopping there, a de-cluttered shelf. A handful of projects stricken off the honey-do list, a day spent pushing back the walls that were closing in.

Spring cleaning is for the soul as well. A call to meet for beers with Bobby. Taking Old Red’s leash from the front door and putting it with her collar in the box in the back of the closet.

Letting go of grudges that have staled with time. You may never forget but hatefulness and forgiveness no longer deserve your time.

A few less bags of chips and a few more stretches, a few more blocks walking Blue before he follows after Red. Remembering why you fell in love with the old lady to begin with. Our soul can become as cluttered as our homes and garages filled with useless hate and remorse. Lighten it lightens the weight on your shoulders.

So as you wait for spring unpack your home, unpack your soul so when spring finally does arrive you’ll be ready.

I’m a Ph.D. Organic Chemist and am a foamy-mouthed liberal. Human climate warming has some serious scientific flaws.

Just sayin’…. The climate has been warming for 12,000 years, completely melting over a mile of ice that used to cover Canada. It’s still warming and will do so for another century or so.

The human contribution to global warming is minimal at best. Curious? Check out Malankovitch Cycles.

BIKERNET GUN NUT REPORT–

Our concealed carry class for three states, Utah, Minnesota and Wisconsin, may be the last event we have at the Compound.

I hope you’re signed up for this $30-three-state concealed permit class, with lunch. If you don’t need it, plan on stopping by at 3:00 pm this Sunday after the class and bring your old weapons to trade or sell.

Open to everyone, I hope you can make some good deals, depending on what people bring by. Or at least stop in, have a soda, beer or coffee and hang out for awhile (after 3 pm). The Compound is up for sale and there most likely won’t be any big gatherings coming up.

So stop by, we’d love to see you. This photo is from when the Born to Ride movie premiered here a few years back. Some of the stars of the movie, all musicians in their own right, jumped up on the 40 foot stage and did an impromptu version of “Mustang Sally,” thanks to the keyboard and vocals of Branscombe Richmond.

Even Keith Ball got in the action with vocals. And of course, the lovely Sarah Lasky and Neda Stevic provided dance and beauty on the stage. What a party that was. Mike Anthony Jones, writer, producer and director of the movie was there with his band too.

Great memories of some great parties at the Compound. Please stop by to say hello, goodbye, fare thee well or whatever. Sunday, March 12, 9 am – 3 pm concealed carry class (must pre-register online at RG Compound) or 3 pm for socializing and buy-swap-sell weapons.—Tony Sanfelipo

NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON STREET ROD IS TUNED FOR DYNAMIC URBAN PERFORMANCE–
High-Output Revolution X Engine and Refined Chassis Deliver More Power and Nimble Handling

The new Harley-Davidson Street Rod motorcycle is a muscular middle-weight built to blitz the city streets. An addition to the Harley-Davidson Street model family, the Street Rod is agile, powerful and tuned for maneuvering through traffic and congestion. Steeped in tough Harley-Davidson® Dark Custom styling, bearing a stance that’s poised and aggressive, the Street Rod always looks ready for action.

“The Street Rod will put the thrill in any urban commute,” said Mathew Weber, Harley-Davidson Chief Engineer for the Street Rod. “We’ve paired the potent new High Output Revolution X 750 engine with a revised chassis and up-rated suspension components to make the Street Rod quick, light-handling and easy to ride.”

The Street Rod backs up its performance with a liberal dose of Harley-Davidson Dark Custom styling.

“We made this new bike look tough and aggressive,” said Harley-Davidson Lead Designer Chetan Shedjale. “This aligns with the environment our riders will experience this motorcycle in. The inverted, black-anodized forks and triple clamps along with a new speed screen combine to add visual mass to the Street Rod front end. The increased ground clearance and new 17-inch wheels give the Street Rod an intimidating stance. Finally, a supercharger-inspired air intake and the deeper growl of the exhaust note draw attention to the High Output Revolution X engine.”

The High Output Revolution X 750 engine produces 18 percent more horsepower and 8 percent more torque than the standard Revolution X 750 engine (U.S. and Canada markets only). The new single overhead-cam V-Twin engine features a larger air box, a new dual-throat throttle body, revised four-valve cylinder heads and high-lift camshafts, and a higher-volume muffler. The compression ratio is bumped from 11.0:1 to 12.0:1, and the engine redline is increased from 8,000 to 9,000 rpm.

“We’ve improved air flow and then tuned this new engine to maximize mid-range torque,” said Weber. “It really delivers a punch between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm, power you can always feel and use in real-world riding situations. Liquid cooling helps maintain that performance and rider comfort in stop-and-go urban traffic.”

The new Street Rod chassis is engineered to match the performance of the High Output Revolution X engine.

The front end features rigid 43mm inverted forks gripped by a lightweight aluminum triple clamp. Fork rake angle is tightened from 32 to 27 degrees to quicken the steering. Coil-over rear shock absorbers have an external reservoir to increase fluid capacity and improve control.

The shocks increase the rear suspension travel by 31 percent, to 4.6 inches. A new swing arm is slightly longer to accommodate the taller ride height, and has new performance-inspired styling.

Lean angle is increased from 28.5 degrees left and right to 37.3 degrees right and 40.2 degrees left. The Street Rod rolls on light-weight, 17-inch front and rear Split 7 Spoke Black Cast Wheels and new Michelin Scorcher 21 radial tires.

Dual 300mm-diameter front disc brakes deliver confident stopping power. Anti-Lock Braking (ABS) and the Harley-Davidson Smart Security System are factory-installed options for the Street Rod.

“The Street Rod is the most nimble motorcycle in the current Harley-Davidson line-up,” said Weber. “Tires, wheels, suspension and frame geometry are engineered to work together and deliver handling that’s light and precise at all speeds.”

A new seat shape is designed to fit the rider’s contour, and seat height is raised by 3.7 inches, to 29.4 inches, to enhance the rider’s view forward over traffic. A flat, drag-style handlebar puts the rider in a fist-forward posture on the bike. The Street Rod also features new forged foot controls and aluminum foot pegs that are positioned for a comfortable seating position that also makes it easy for riders to get feet down to the ground at stops.

Street Rod styling highlights include a new color-matched speed screen, a short aggressive street fighter-inspired tail, and all-new LED tail lamp and turn signals with a Street Rod signature look.

The Street Rod will be offered in three color options: Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim, and Olive Gold.
*All comparisons made to the standard Revolution X 750 engine

THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN–
A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido, has cheated him out of $10,000,000.00.

His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing so he would not have to testify in court. When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about his missing $10 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language.

The Godfather tells the lawyer, “Ask him where the money is! The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido, Where’s the money?

Guido signs back, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

The lawyer tells the Godfather, “He says he doesn’t know what you are talking about” The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it to Guido’s head and says, “Ask him again or I’ll kill him!”

The lawyer signs to Guido, “He’ll kill you if you don’t tell him.” Guido trembles and signs back, “OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno’s house.

The Godfather asks the lawyer, “What did he say?” The lawyer replies, “He says you don’t have the balls to pull the trigger.” Don’t you just love lawyers?

Idaho House Unanimously Approves Anti-Motorcycle Profiling Bill–
Grassroots manpower is the most powerful tool in the motorcycle rights movement’s arsenal and motorcycle clubs are a critical component. This power was again demonstrated by the Idaho motorcycle club community and ABATE of Idaho beginning on February 21, 2017 when HO 123, a law prohibiting motorcycle profiling, passed out of the House Judiciary committee with a unanimous do-pass recommendation.

On February 27th the entire Idaho House of Representatives voted 69-0-1 (one rep. was absent) in favor of HO 123. Which will now go through the same process in the Senate and, if successful, will ultimately be the third state to send similar legislation to their Governor’s desk to be signed into law.

Manpower and The Public Hearing

Bikers filled every available seat during the public hearing, so the adjacent room was opened up in order to accommodate the overflow. Bikers are one of the most visible constituencies actively utilizing the democratic process through grassroots mobilization. The movement to pass anti- motorcycle profiling laws at the state and federal level is proof positive, and legislators are taking notice.

HO 123’s primary sponsor, Representative Robert Anderst, introduced the bill, emphasizing that the goal was to look forward and improve the relationship between law enforcement and the biking community. Rep. Anderst testified that his support stemmed from the perspective of both a legislator and an advocate. Rep. Anderst is a biker himself, and proudly stands with the motorcycle community.

Anderst said, “We definitely aren’t the caricature sensationalized on TV. Just like any large group, we are made up of individuals … tradesmen to attorneys, truckers to clergy – even a few legislators. What I can say is that the vast majority are hardworking, productive members of society who want to be left alone.”

The Motorcycle Profiling Project travelled from Washington State to offer their perspective based on the Washington law- RCW 43.101.419- that passed unanimously there in 2011. Maryland also passed the law without a no vote in 2016. 1

Although the Washington law hasn’t eliminated profiling incidents, it has reduced them noticeably. “There is no downside,” the MPP told the Idaho lawmakers. “HO 123 simply prohibits motorcycle profiling. … It has no fiscal impact. … It also reduces the state’s exposure to civil liability.” 2

Rep. tells bikers, “This is your house!”

Rep. Christy Perry, R-Nampa, told the big crowd of motorcycle enthusiasts as she moved to approve the bill, “You had us at hello…This is the people’s house, and you are welcome any time, as is anybody who wants to come in and address their government.”

There is every reason to expect that Idaho motorcycle clubs and ABATE members will again show up to the Capitol in huge numbers in support of HO 123 when it receives a public hearing in the Idaho Senate. The only question remaining is whether Idaho will be the third state behind Washington and Maryland to pass similar laws without a single no vote.

TSA Agents Authorized To Get Even More ‘Intimate’ With Your Body–
There will be no steak dinner during this date.

The Transportation Security Administration’s blue-gloved gropers have been authorized to touch you in ways they haven’t yet — at least not on a regular basis.

A nationwide change in procedure now allows “more intimate contact than before,” according to a notification sent to TSA employees at the Denver International Airport. Local police were also [notified] in case any passengers report “abnormal” searches.

The TSA is doing away with the five kinds of pat-downs travelers are used to in exchange for just one — and apparently we’re not going to like it. But don’t worry, you will be paired with an agent of your gender so it won’t feel weird at all.

The change comes after 21 firearms, a loaded magazine, knives, and a live smoke grenade were all found in one day at security checkpoints across the country. It’s assured that this will only cause delays for those lucky enough to be selected for this intimate touch not everyone else.

I have a plan for TSA workers, they can be trained to fix infrastructure issues or take training for landscaping. I say every onramp and off-ramp in the nation should be magnificent with trees and shrubs. Each TSA worker will be proud of his or her daily accomplishments making our country safe and beautiful. The new Nordschleife 1927 24-hour anniversary timepieces–
The watches commemorating the 90th anniversary of the world’s most demanding racetrack

The legendary Nordschleife racetrack, German for ‘North Loop,’ opened for business on June 18, 1927 under the name “Mountain, Racing and Testing Track.” The new Nordschleife 1927 24-hour wristwatches now commemorate the 90th anniversary of what is still undisputed as the world’s most demanding racetrack.

These timepieces mesmerize not only with their classic design and high-quality construction made in Germany: contrary to conventional watches their dials show not just 12, but all 24 hours in the day. This makes them also the perfect companions for attending the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

The high-quality stainless-steel timepieces are available in two designs: The stainless steel Nordschleife 1927 SPEEDWHITE EDITION version has a white dial. The matt black Nordschleife 1927 SPEEDBLACK EDITION version comes with a black face and a date display.

Both watches have a case diameter of 43 millimeters (about 1.7 inches). A Swiss quartz movement keeps precise time.

The Nordschleife 1927 24-hour anniversary wristwatches are the perfect eyecatchers and their uncommon design offers plenty of conversation topics:
While the minute hand’s position is identical to that of a conventional watch, the hour hand points to an unexpected spot. The same position that would for example indicate 9 a.m. on a conventional watch signifies a time of precisely 6 p.m. on a Nordschleife 1927 24-hour anniversary watch.

The Nordschleife 1927 24-hour anniversary wristwatches are available exclusively online at www.nordschleife.us starting from 119 euros.

WOW—
Incredible week. I’m working on the sculpture based around this 1916 Excelsior Auto Cycle. Interesting challenge.

We have a few bikes in the shop for work and repairs right now. Also, decided to chop the 1928 Shovel. What the hell will we call it? How about the 5-Ball Bobber? It’s going to be vintage and cool thanks to the Paughco team.

How’s this for the vintage custom of the week. I immediately sent a shot to Go at Brat Style. Look closely.

A brother just bought a Special Ops jacket from us. He needed it quick to get to Daytona Bike Week. He lives like an hour and a half away, so he jams up just for the parties he wants to hit. It arrived, just in time, yesterday.

Life is amazing and non-stop.

Ride free forever,

–Bandit
