Hey,
The Zero Tolerance issue surfaced again. The governor of California, who once was a hippy, called for zero emissions. That’s impossible unless he sends armed guard to every home to confiscate you barbecue or fire pit.
It’s nuts and impossible, but the dream of any control freak, who wants more control and power. Let’s see what the NMA says about New York this week.
Let’s hit the news:

QUICK, OPEN THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY–The wedding ceremony came to the point where the Minister asked if anyone had anything to say concerning the union of the bride and groom.
It was their time to stand up and talk, or forever hold their peace.
The moment of utter silence was broken by a young beautiful woman carrying a child.
She stood up and started walking slowly towards the pastor. The congregation was aghast as the penny dropped.
The Groom’s jaw dropped as he stared disbelievingly at the approaching young woman and child. Chaos ensued.
The bride threw the bouquet in the air and burst out crying. Then the groom’s mother fainted.
The Best men started giving each other looks and wondering how best to help save the situation.
The Minister asked the woman, “Can you tell us, why you came forward ? What do you have to say?”
There was absolute silence in the church. The woman replied, “We can’t hear in the back.”

GUN NUT REPORT–In Wake of Jacksonville Shooting, “News” Outlet Recycles Article Calling for Firearm Confiscation.
It’s sometimes said that insanity can be defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If that’s true, it doesn’t speak well of gun control advocates’ mental health, insofar as they repeat the same ritual after every high-profile firearm-related crime, with little or no lasting impact on public opinion or national policy.
Their standard procedure is: immediately misreport basic facts of the incident; unleash the indignation of antigun politicians and celebrities on social media; condemn the NRA and anyone else who offers thoughts and prayers while awaiting reliable information; demand the same types of gun controls that failed to prevent the incident; insist that the gun debate has reached a turning point; and abruptly stop talking about the incident when emotions cool and facts emerge that show how existing gun controls failed.
The defining tactic in this whole chain of events is to seize and define the narrative in the immediate aftermath of the event before anybody actually knows what happened.
The website Vox.com, however, took this tendency to new depths by using a double-murder/suicide that took place at a video game competition in Jacksonville, Florida, to re-run nearly word-for-word an article the outlet had published in May after a firearm-related crime in Sante Fe, Texas.
In both cases, the author used his limited propaganda window to express opinions that gun control advocates usually shun in the calm, cold light of reasoned debate. “What America likely needs,” he wrote, “is something … like Australia’s mandatory buyback program — essentially, a gun confiscation scheme — paired with a serious ban on specific firearms (including, potentially, all semiautomatic weapons).”
Yet, if it’s crazy for gun control advocates to expect different results from doing the same thing, it’s equally crazy for Second Amendment supporters to ignore what the opposition says when they believe they have the leeway to really speak their mind. Simply put, when someone tells you he wants to take your guns, the only safe bet is to take him at his word.
This is the reality of the gun control agenda: its adherents see guns as the problem and the absence of guns as the solution. Everything they do is geared toward the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating civilian firearm ownership. The only variable is the speed at which they’re willing to accomplish this objective. Sometimes they’re willing to do it by attrition, with an eye toward the gradual tapering off of new gun owners. But the temptation to extol mass firearm confiscation is one many simply cannot resist when their outrage is in full bloom.
To be fair, the Vox author admitted that his plan is not viable in the short term and that “[p]art of the holdup is the Second Amendment.” He was quick to endorse whatever “milder” gun control the U.S. will tolerate in the meantime, while it works up the will “to take the action it really needs.”
But again, let’s not kid ourselves about what this “milder” gun control really accomplishes.
It’s certainly not public safety, a fact illustrated by the Jacksonville incident itself. According to media accounts, the alleged perpetrator bought the pistol he used in his crime in Maryland, which has one of the nation’s strictest gun control regimes. He then reportedly used that pistol to commit a multiple-murder/suicide in a state known for a more lenient approach to gun control. The scene of the crime was also a gun-free zone. And while the media is indulging in its usual obsession about what “should have” stopped him from buying gun, the alleged perpetrator cleared every “evidence-based polic[y]” the Vox author suggested might at least lead to “reduced injuries and deaths.” This includes Maryland’s licensing and background check requirements, its expansive mental health disqualifiers for firearm ownership, and even its “assault weapons” and “large capacity” magazine bans.
This was “state of the art” gun control in 2013. It was Maryland’s “solution” to “preventing” something like what happened the year before in Newtown, Connecticut.
And now that it has failed so publicly, the Maryland legislature is said to be considering – you guessed it – even more restrictive gun control.
Because, ultimately, the only thing that gun control accomplishes is conditioning the public to accept ever more gun control under the false premise that we’re somehow just a few laws short of overcoming the problem of human evil.
Come to think of it, that’s a pretty good definition of insanity, as well.

“What color are you going to wear tonight?” she asks cheekily.
“Gold of course,” says the man proudly.
The wife responds wryly, “Why don’t you wear Silver? It would be nice if you came second for a change.”

HOT NEWS FROM THE –-Motorcycle Riders Foundation. Resignation of Vice-President of Government Affairs
WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) announced that Vice-President, Government Affairs & Public Relations Megan Ekstrom has resigned from her position effective October 9, 2018. The Board had appointed Ekstrom to the role in May 2016. During her tenure, she served as the chief association advocate on legislative and regulatory issues at the federal level that impacted motorcyclists’ rights and safety and played a primary role in promoting and expanding the MRF’s government and regulatory affairs missions.
“I was disappointed in learning of Megan’s departure, as I felt we have indeed made great progress since her coming aboard,” said Kirk “Hardtail” Willard, President and Chairman of the Board. “I genuinely wish her the best and am grateful for her service and assistance in finding a suitable replacement.”
Ekstrom has accepted a position in global government affairs for Procter and Gamble, a Fortune 50 company, where she will advocate in front of Congress on behalf of their consumer product line and international trade concerns.
“Leaving the MRF has been a truly difficult decision to make, however with the current staff and leadership within the Board of Directors and state partners, the organization is exceptionally well positioned strategically and is supported by a dedicated membership. I have no doubt that the MRF will continue to be a ‘force to be reckoned with’ in the future,” Ekstrom said of her departure.
A search committee to identify candidates will be formed in the coming days. The process will be expedited to ensure a smooth transition period between Ekstrom’s departure and the new hire’s start date.

THE BAD JOKE BIKERNET LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN–Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess,”Will you marry me?”

went to titty bars and drank whiskey, beer & rum like an old skool
sailor on a bender, and never heard any bitching, and never paid child
support or alimony, and ate SPAM, potato chips and beans, and blew
enormous farts, and never got cheated on while he was at work, and had
lots of dogs and all his friends and family thought he was cool as hell,
and he had tons of money in the bank, and left the toilet seat up!

NMA ALERT, Vision Zero—In the Trenches of New York City:
Vision Zero is a huge nightmare for everyone who lives or works in NYC. Since the introduction here of Vision Zero, commute times have more than doubled. The city has introduced road diets, has converted streets for bike and bus only lanes and has gotten rid of left turn lanes. These changes have made NYC streets nearly impassable. Road rage has now become more common due to frustration, crowded roads and less space to drive.
Under the Vision Zero regime, driving to work during morning rush hour takes hours instead of minutes. NYC has become anti-car and really anti-transit too since there seems to be little money available to fix the decrepit subway system. The use of congestion pricing to help pay for the subway won’t help either. Is it fair to make motorists pay for public transportation when we might not even use it?
Not only will we not be able to drive due to the extra cost, we won’t be able to use the subway reliably either. It really is all just too much.
In 2014, NYC’s default speed limit was lowered to 25 mph, setting up a speed trap city-wide and making it much easier for police to write speeding tickets. Policing for profit is the norm here and makes everyone more fearful and distrustful of the police.
Enforcement is overkill and police personnel seem to get away with anything they want to do such as running red lights, driving into oncoming traffic, bus lanes and abusing the use of city employee parking placards, a scandal that has gone all the way to the mayor’s office. Speaking of Mayor Bill De Blasio’s’—in July, his motorcade was seen driving into oncoming traffic and blowing through traffic lights. What a fine role model he is.
In 2017, in the name of fighting terrorism, Governor Cuomo deployed close to 200 state police troopers to NYC from upstate New York. Not only has this move strained police protection in rural areas of the state, it has also caused a second speed trap situation on NYC highways and interstates which are set at 50 mph maximum while the 85th percentile speed is around 65 mph. This opens up easy pickings for state police to write speeding tickets to serve greedy NY State.
For example, in the first four months of deployment, the super troopers doled out 14,542 tickets—a whopping 759 percent increase from all of 2016 when they wrote only 1,692. That’s right – tickets are so profitable in NYC that the state of New York wanted some of that ticket action. This has never been seen before and locals are calling it for what it is – a feud between Governor Cuomo and Mayor De Blasio.
As a diehard New Yorker, I am tired of motorists being the ATM piggy bank for New York City and the state of New York. It’s time for the NYC DOT to post speed limits based on the 85th percentile of traffic flow. NYC needs to stop being a speed trap and a policing-for-profit center just so that the police department, city hall and state government can balance their budgets on the backs of hardworking New Yorkers.
Road diets are one thing but another side product of Vision Zero is that it has produced a generation of distracted and entitled pedestrians who expect motorists to yield to them as soon as they step foot into the street even when crossing against the light or outside of legal crosswalks. I have witnessed so many close calls where pedestrians with intent moved in front of a moving vehicle because they know whatever happens, the motorist will always be at fault. The same holds true for bicyclists who seem to think that the rules of the road do not apply to them.
From my point of view, Vision Zero’s lofty goal of preventing all traffic deaths really means preventing law-abiding citizens from using their own vehicles to move around the city. The ultimate aim of Vision Zero advocates are to get rid of private motor vehicles entirely. Plans are already in the works for city parking spaces for private cars to be turned into pedestrian plazas. Single family houses will likely be knocked down and replaced with tall apartment buildings to create more urban density and a reason to not have a car. Eventually, the only way someone can move around in the city that never sleeps will be by walking, biking or taking public transportation.
As it seems now, public transportation might even be on the way out because it is so expensive to build and maintain. We will all be forced to buy a ride service subscription just to get around.
In my opinion, here on the front line, Vision Zero is a platform that prevents people from traveling around freely under the guise of a safety movement.

OH NO, THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS OPEN ON A HOLIDAY–Subject: SEX O’FENCE
The husband leans over and asks his wife, ‘Do you remember the first time we had sex together over fifty years ago? We went behind the village tavern where you leaned against the back fence and I made love to you.’
Yes, she says, ‘I remember it well.’
OK,’ he says, ‘How about taking a stroll around there again and we can do it for old time’s sake?’
Oh Jim, you old devil, that sounds like a crazy, but good idea!’
A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation and, having a chuckle to himself, he thinks to himself, I’ve got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence. I’ll just keep an eye on them so there’s no trouble. So he follows them.
The elderly couple walks haltingly along, leaning on each other for support aided by walking sticks. Finally, they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers. As she leans against the fence, the old man moves in.. Then suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the policeman has ever seen. This goes on for about ten minutes while both are making loud noises and moaning and screaming. Finally, they both collapse, panting on the ground.
The policeman is amazed. He has learned something about life and old age that he didn’t know..
After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on. The policeman, is still watching and thinks to himself, this is truly amazing, I’ve got to ask them what their secret is.
So as the couple passes he says to them,’ Excuse me, but that was something else. You must’ve had a fantastic sex life together. Is there some sort of secret to this?’
Shaking, the old man is barely able to reply, ‘Fifty years ago that wasn’t an electric fence.’

FARMERS ALMANAC WINTER WEATHER FORECAST–
“Contrary to the stories storming the web, our time-tested, long-range formula is pointing toward a very long, cold, and snow-filled winter. We stand by our forecast and formula, which accurately predicted the many storms last winter, as well as this summer’s steamy, hot conditions.”
– Editor Peter Geiger, Philom.
The 2019 Farmers’ Almanac, which provides 16 months’ of weather forecasts for 7 zones in one compact book, is predicting that winter 2019 will be “Colder-than-normal… from the Continental Divide east through the Appalachians.”
So just how cold will it be? The real teeth-chattering arrives mid-February especially in the following zones: Northeast/New England, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, Midwest, and Southeast (yes, even the Southeast will be in the chill zone!).

THE HUPY ACCIDENT REPORT– A veteran and former state quartermaster of his VFW post had been turning southbound on Highway 74 when he came to stop in a long line of cars because of bridge construction. He was coming from getting his cap and gown for his college graduation ceremony the next day. As he was stopped, he was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer being driven by a distracted driver. He suffered fatal injuries.
Attorneys Tom Kyle and James Theisen aggressively pursued the driver and his employer. Vast amounts of time and resources were expended to pursue justice for this hero and to get every dollar deserved for the family. The case was settled only weeks before trial in a settlement conference with the magistrate judge.

LET FREEDOM RING—This is the simple concept I don’t get about todays divided society. On the other hand, maybe I do.
Our society was founded on freedoms and happiness. But look around the world. How many dictators and control freaks abound. Must be something in the water that makes someone want to control others for whatever reason.
I recommend everyone join a motorcycle rights group, quick. The control freaks are coming after your motorcycles in several ways.
Freedom creates balance. The media should support the NRA not attack them. The media relies on Freedom of Speech. Even that is under attack on some fronts.
I was never aware of much of this until I became a biker and was hired to be the manager of ABATE at about 22 years of age.
Suddenly I was in the middle of helmet law battles. Think about it. Now there are anti-tampering laws, highbar laws, loud pipe attacks, emission regs, you name it.
It’s all a game for more control and they will never stop until zero is reached, unless we push for Freedom.
I won’t consider any loud pipe ordinances until distracted driving is gone. We need to make as much noise as possible.
Rider Free Forever,
