INNOVATION SUNDAY POST for January 8, 2017

Hey,

Let’s jump right into the news. We have new girls coming to the Cantina, new action and new adventures just around the corner. Hang on.

WEEKEND GUN NUT REPORT–
Enemy of the Second Amendment Nominated to be California’s Next Attorney General.

On January 10, the state Assembly is scheduled to start confirmation hearings on U. S. Representative Xavier Becerra, who was nominated by Governor Brown on January 1 to be California’s next Attorney General.

California’s Attorney General heads the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and serves at the state’s top law enforcement official and attorney, overseeing more than 4,500 employees, which includes attorneys, investigators and peace officers. The Bureau of Firearms operates as part of DOJ and is responsible for all things related to firearms in California.

It’s imperative that the next Attorney General of California respect your constitutionally protected Second Amendment rights and not use the office to further diminish them.

In his 23 years as a U. S. Representative, Xavier Becerra has consistently voted against your rights when it comes to hunting and Second Amendment-related issues. A snapshot of those votes include:

H.R. 766 –
the Financial Institution Customer Protection Act of 2015, which would have prohibited the use of programs such as “Operation Choke Point” against firearms businesses.
H.R. 822 –
the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011, which would have allowed permit holders to carry in any state that has a permit system.
H.R. 3590 & H.R. 4089 – twice voted against a Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act, which would have protected hunting as a primary use of federal lands and would provide funds for the construction and maintenance of shooting ranges on public lands.

H.R. 6842
would have restored Second Amendment rights in Washington, D.C.
H.R. 5092 – the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosive (BATFE)

Modernization and Reform Act of 2006, which would have protected the privacy of gun purchasers, established guidelines for FFL inspectors, and limited the fines imposed by ATF of FFLs.

S. 397 –
the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which would have prohibited reckless lawsuits against the firearm industry due to the criminal misuse of firearms.
H.R. 4635 – Arming Pilots Against Terrorism Act.

NRA-PVF “F-rated” Kamala Harris just resigned from her post as Attorney General; California does not need to be led by another “F-rated” Attorney General.

As we await Congressman Becerra’s confirmation vote by the state Assembly, it is important that you immediately contact your state Assembly Member and ask them to OPPOSE his confirmation as California Attorney General. You can take action now by clicking here or on our TAKE ACTION link below.

Please forward this important alert to your family, friends, and fellow gun owners and Second Amendment Supporters.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY CREATIVE STUDENT VOCABULARY LESSON–
frondescence: fron-DES-uh ns

noun
1.
leafage; foliage.
2. the process or period of putting forth leaves, as a tree, plant, or the like.

Quotes

… they continued their journey under the frondescence of the mountain forests.
— Cecilia Dart-Thornton, The Ill-Made Mute, 2001

Frondescence sounds like the new House of Kolors custom paint development. Can’t wait.
–Bandit, Bikernet.com

Origin of frondescence

Frondescence derives from the New Latin noun frondescentia, a derivative of frondescent-, the present participle stem of frondescens “becoming leafy,” from the inchoative verb frondescere “to become leafy, put forth leaves,” a derivative of frondere “to have leaves.”

Then there were these three young women in a family way waiting their turn to see the gynecologist. One of them broke the silence and said, I’m having a boy, I was on top. The second chimes in and says I’m having a girl a was on the bottom. The third woman cups her hands over her face and cries am I going to have a puppy?

MORE ON THE TILTING MOTORCYCLE WITH THREE WHEELS–

How does it affect the lean angle of the bike?

It doesn’t. On most Harleys the bike will lean over until the pegs or floorboards scrape the pavement, with no change to the lean angle.

Are there safety benefits?

Common road conditions that pose grave risks to motorcyclists can be non-events aboard a TMW-equipped vehicle. For instance you can hit a bump or loose gravel or an oil slick with one front tire, even while cornering, and the other tire will maintain traction so you’re able to continue on your way without incident.

Who should get a TMW conversion?

A leaning trike is ideal for veteran riders who are unsatisfied with the handling or image of conventional rear-wheel trikes and Spyders. It also appeals to newer riders who might consider a Harley but don’t feel comfortable with the size and weight of the machine. Motorcycle enthusiasts like being able to run faster through the curves.

Snowstorm In Chicago Delays Hundreds Of Morning Murders

NEWS IN BRIEF December 16th, 2016

CHICAGO—The city of Chicago is steadily recovering from an overnight snowstorm that delayed hundreds of murders on Friday morning and will likely continue to push numerous homicides across the city drastically behind schedule, public authorities announced. “As we speak, maintenance crews are working diligently to restore public transportation, de-ice roads, and clear back alleyways so that Chicagoan’s can quickly resume murdering again,” Department of Streets and Sanitation spokesman Dave Michelson said of the heavy blizzard, which caused numerous homicide cancellations this morning at peak murder times.

“Unfortunately, we’re backed up by about 35 deadly shootings at the moment, but we hope to restore regular death tolls as soon as possible. We apologize to anyone forced to postpone shootings or other killings today and assure concerned murderers that they will be able to resume slayings by the early afternoon.” At press time, authorities reported that murders were up and running in many parts of the city, with four teenagers already gunned down on Chicago’s South Side

DELAWARE HELMET FIGHT–
On behalf of Ed Berner, ABATE of Delaware State Legislative Coordinator, I submit this; Fellow BOLT members, As expected Representative Sean M. Lynn (D-Dover) and Senator Gary F Simpson (R) have once again introduced a Mandatory Helmet Law – House Bill 14 in the state of delaware. It is now in the hands of the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.

Chainsaw and I have issued a Call to Action for the membership of ABATE of Delaware and our supporters. We are also shaking the bushes for speakers when it does go before the committee. We are a small state and last session we defeated this in committee and I believe we embarrassed Rep Lynn. I fear he may bring out the big guns on this. His party has tried that before and we need all the help we can get.

http://www.abateofde.com/call-to-action-2017
I have heard it said that if a Legislator get 10 letters for or against a piece of legislation they are more likely to support that position. I can also use all the help I can get on this, if you have suggestions I would like to hear them. Although I’ve assisted Hildy for years, this is my first time in the seat. HB 14 https://legis.delaware.gov/BillDetail/25340 Ask them to support you and the entire motorcycling community and against ANY Mandatory Helmet Legislation and why you feel that way.

You may recall that these two attempted this during the last session with HB 54, but didn’t get a single vote to move it out of Committee. We need to stop this bill in Committee!! In each email you send to the Committee Members address them by their position and name and close with your name and town. Click/Tap on the Committee Members’ Email Addresses below:

SUNDAY CANTINA MARKETING SEMINAR–
Two prostitutes were riding around town with a sign on top of their car which said:
Two Prostitutes – $50.00.

A policeman, seeing the sign, stopped them, and told them they’d either have to remove the sign or go to jail.

At that time, another car passed with a sign saying: “Jesus Saves.”

One of the girls asked the officer, “How come you don’t stop them?”

“Well, that’s a little different,” the officer said.

“Their sign pertains to religion.”

The following day the same police officer noticed the same two hookers driving around with a large sign on their car.

He figured he had an easy arrest until he read their new sign:

Two Fallen Angels
Seeking Peter — $50.

HELMET LAW RESOURCE–

This is Grant with Tragos, Sartes & Tragos we just spoke a moment ago. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. Like I was saying, I’m reaching out to you because I thought you would be interested in sharing a resource we created with the people who utilize your website. We created an interactive infographic covering motorcycle helmet laws along the I-95 corridor with the purpose to educate riders on where it is illegal to ride without a helmet along the east coast, as well as some additional information we found interesting and helpful.

We built this infographic as a resource for some of our clients who had mentioned their confusion on where they were legally required to wear a helmet or not. We wanted to provide them with a resource that gives them that information in an easily understandable and interactive way.

NEWS FROM BORN TO RIDE–

Panhead Randy’s Bucket List This “Bucket List” mission began over 42 years ago when I purchased Old Blue at the ripe young age of 18, shortly after graduating from high school along Florida’s east coast. Old Blue is a 1963 Harley-Davidson Panhead that has unselfishly transported me from one destination to another like a magic carpet, always willing to embark on the next adventure.

In addition to the day-to-day local riding and fun, Old Blue carried me on several long road trips over the years. In 1975, she took me from the east coast of Florida to the Grand Canyon…

NEW MOTORCYCLE ADVISORY COUNCIL–
I have received notice that on Monday, a notice will be published in the Federal Register regarding the reestablished Motorcyclist Advisory Council, which will advise the Federal Highway Administration on transportation issues related to motorcyclists including barriers, road design, construction, and Information Technology Systems (ITS) like autonomous vehicles and how these areas affect motorcyclists.

The notice will call for nominations to serve on the Committee. TEN individuals will be selected and will meet twice per year (once in person and once via webinar) to discuss relevant issues. Nominations are likely to be due at the end of February and those who wish to be considered must send nominations to Mr. Michael Griffith via email – MAC-FHWA@dot.gov

Nominations must include the following: (1) A Letter of Application including name, title, and contact information for the nominee, (2) a brief statement of interest for involvement in the MAC, (3) a professional summary or resume to include years of experience, relevant professional experience, geographic representation and examples of leadership roles in the subject area, (4) a detailed description of the nominee’s expertise on any particular issues related to motorcycles, highway engineering issues, safety and design engineers, roadway safety experts and other traffic safety systems industries, (5) a statement that the nominee meets all eligibility requirements and, (6) optional materials that support the nominees interest and experience inducing letters of recommendations, publications or research. Nominees can be self-nominated or nominated by an interested organization.

Please contact me if you are interested in nominating yourself to serve on the MAC – together, we can ensure you meet the eligibility requirements, have a robust nomination package and work to include letters of recommendation to boost your chances of selection.

LASTLY – the bad news:

I was VERY disappointed to see the categories of individuals that are to be included in the MAC – only ONE representative from a national motorcyclists association is to be included. Rather, the emphasis for the Committee appears to be on safety experts and engineers, and while those individuals will certainly be welcome, the makeup of the Council is FAR from fair and balanced with only ONE required representative from a national motorcycle association.

This is a major deviation from the previous MAC where participants included one member recommended by a national motorcyclist association, one member recommended by a national motorcycle riders foundation; and two members of State motorcyclists’ organizations.

Going forward we will mount an aggressive advocacy campaign to express our concern over this “Motorcyclist” Advisory Council that only includes 1 actual motorcyclist. We will sound the alarm to our friends in Congress – especially the ones who signed on to a letter this summer expressing similar concerns. In addition, stay tuned for an “ACTION ALERT” from me – we shall rally our troops across the country to submit grievances via comments to the Federal Highway Administration AND reach out to their Members of Congress to express their concerns.

Please contact me with any questions regarding the potential to serve on the Committee OR how you can help to ensure a fair and balanced MAC that is truly representative of motorcyclists across the nation.

A MESSAGE FROM THE MOUNTAIN–
“If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, Infinite.” – William Blake

If we want our life to flow instead of being stuck, we need to first change the way we perceive the world around us. Because the experience of stuckness is the perception of limited choices, if we change our perception, we change our experience of life in the moment.

ALERT FROM THE BIKERNET MEDICAL CENTER–

A woman was in town on a shopping trip. She began her day finding the most perfect shoes in the first shop and a beautiful dress on sale in the second. In the third everything had just been reduced to a fiver when her mobile phone rang. It was a female doctor notifying her that her husband had just been in a terrible accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU.

The woman told the doctor to inform her husband where she was and that she’d be there as soon as possible.

As she hung up she realized she was leaving what was shaping up to be her best day ever in the shops. She decided to get in a couple of more shops before heading to the hospital.

She ended up shopping the rest of the morning, finishing her trip with a cup of coffee and a beautiful cream slice complementary from the last shop. She was jubilant.

Then she remembered her husband. Feeling guilty, she dashed to the hospital. She saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about her husband’s condition.

The lady doctor glared at her and shouted, ‘You went ahead and finished your shopping trip didn’t you! I hope you’re proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself in town, your husband has been languishing in the Intensive Care Unit! It’s just as well you went ahead and finished, because it will more than likely be the last shopping trip you ever take! For the rest of his life he will require round the clock care and you’ll now be his caregiver!’

The woman was feeling so guilty she broke down and sobbed………. The lady doctor then chuckled and said, ‘I’m just pulling your leg. He’s dead. What did you buy?’

CRAZY, Alliance for Transportation Innovation Announces 2017 Autonomous Vehicle Cross-Country Road Tour

Flanked by leaders in transportation policy and technology, officials with The Alliance for Transportation Innovation (ATI21.org) today announced plans for a coast-to-coast autonomous vehicle road trip, beginning later this month in Atlanta, GA.

The “AV Road Trip,” announced at a news conference held in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, will bring self-driving technology directly to the public in cities across America. “There is no doubt that when it comes to self-driving vehicles, seeing is believing,” said Paul Brubaker, President and CEO of ATI21.org. Watch the event on Twitter @ATI21org.

The Washington, D.C.-based association advocates on behalf of the transportation technology industry to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies that will reduce traffic deaths, improve the flow of urban commutes, safely deliver goods to market, eliminate human error and improve mobility for the underserved, disabled and elderly.

The first stop on the tour is Atlanta, GA on January 26th, followed closely by appearances in New Orleans, LA on January 30th; Arlington, TX, on February 2nd; Los Angeles, CA on February 6th; and San Jose, CA on February 9th. EasyMile’s EZ10 driverless shuttle will be featured at every stop, allowing community leaders, invited members of the public and the news media to experience the future of transportation. Additional tour stops will be added throughout the year.

At today’s announcement, Mary E. Peters, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, lauded ATI’s efforts on behalf of autonomous technology and decried regulators for not keeping up with the pace of innovation.

“Vehicles that drive themselves, and systems that make them safe, are being conceived, invented, tested and refined at speeds that would make our heads spin,” said Peters. “Yet the rules that govern the tech intended to make our lives better, our drive safer and our trips quicker, are stuck in time,” Peters added.

“We are working to make sure innovation and its potential to make life easier and our streets safer is not frustrated by red tape and regulation,” said Brubaker.

ATI’s Chairman, former U.S. Rep. Robert “Bob” Walker, also attended the news conference. “I’ve been helping craft technology policy for most of my life, but I’ve never seen this amount of excitement. We are witnessing the dawn of a complete transformation of transportation in America,” said Walker, a member of the Trump Administration transition team.

“The autonomous vehicle industry is not just a cool technology or a novelty that will be gone tomorrow,” said Dick Alexander, Executive Vice President for Transdev North America, the AV Road Trip’s premier sponsor. “Autonomous vehicles are starting to show their worth as a means to lower operating costs, improve customer safety and increase mobility to areas poorly served by traditional mass transit. AV technology will revolutionize how we move people and is here to stay,” Alexander said.

“Our EZ10 vehicle will change the way people move around their communities, allowing more people to enjoy life simplified by the fact that they can now get where they are going, safer, quicker and easier than ever before,” said Xavier Salort, Senior Sales Manager for Easy Mile.

Splunk, Inc., provider of the leading software platform for real-time Operational Intelligence, and HDR, a global engineering, architectural and construction services firm, also are sponsors and demo participants of the 2017 tour.

For the latest information about upcoming tour stops and reports from the road, visit www.AVRoadTrip.org or follow along @ATI21org on Twitter.

INCREDIBLE—We are shooting for a new batch of Cantina girls this year. There will be a slight variation in our approach. Peter Linney will shoot the topless girls with choppers, and we will feature a handful of very sharp tattooed beauties from the fabulous Markus Cuff.

They won’t be topless, but they’re close and knockouts with interesting stories. Hang on.

I hope to finish the Yelvington reverse tech this week and start the next Cantina episode. And I need to call my Westminster Indian dealer about a recall and tune-up.

I’m sort of excited about finishing our deck and I’ll bring you a report, hopefully next week. And let’s hope our Paughco team will make a final decision on the front end and begin frame construction. Bonneville isn’t that far away.

Have a helluva week and make the most of it. I’m going to goddammit.
