FATHERS DAY WIND UP SUNDAY POST FOR June 8, 2014

Hey,

I’m confused today, but that’s nothing new recently. There is a lot of confusion out there, like the government handling of the VA health care system, yet they want to control everyone’s health care? We are left to invest in stocks or real estate. Who could ever trust the stock market again? And during the last crash the stock market wiped out the real estate market.

I won’t go on, but there is a positive side to every goddamn thing. This side includes Guns and Motorcycles, and the government would ban both, if given a chance. The third element is spirituality. No one and nothing can take your spirituality.

So, here’s the mantra for today: Protect your Gun rights, invest in old motorcycles (they have stayed the strongest investment throughout the last ten years), and take some time out on Sunday to be at one with your spiritual being. It’s good for the soul and helps center you for the next crazy week.

Let’s hit the news:

THE LARGEST EVEL KNIEVEL COLLECTION IN THE WORLD– At the Republic of Texas Rally June 12-15

With appearances by Robbie Knievel, George Sedlak, and a 15-car jump by Doug Danger

AUSTIN, TX—
It’s the largest Evel Knievel collection ever assembled—one more complete than the daredevil himself ever amassed in one place! And it’s at ROT Rally 2014.

Get a first hand look at the most comprehensive and authentic collection of Evel Knievel memorabilia in the world, on display in the Travis Co. Expo Center during the Republic Of Texas Rally June 12-15. It includes Knievel’s performance leathers, never-before-seen photographs, X-rays of Evel’s broken bones, plus his original jump bikes and personal helmets.

Said Lathan McKay, owner of the collection, “After years of Evel’s possessions being lost in obscurity and so many things sold, stolen or missing, the collection is coming back together.” He terms the hunt and discovery process, “Evel Archaeology.”

During Rot Rally Evel’s painter George Sedlak will be signing autographs and working on his current EK canvas. Evel’s son and daredevil in his own right Robbie Knievel will be present to sign autographs and meet fans. Topping off the hullabaloo on Saturday is Doug Danger’s 15-car jump aboard one of Evel’s own XR750 motorcycles – a feat not attempted since 1975.

Knievel made headlines from the mid ‘60s to the early ’80s for his daring motorcycle jumping and risk-taking attitude. A fearless man of unabashed confidence and brashness, he derived as much fame from the jumps he failed to make—and the injuries he suffered—as the many he completed.

Don’t miss this chance to see the only collection of its kind bringing together authentic artifacts that belonged to the most notorious daredevil of the 20th Century.

The Evel Knievel traveling circus is back!

THE QUESTIONS OF LIFE– I find language interesting and I have read enough of your stuff to know that you do also. Sometimes I am oblivious to really obvious things and then it hits me like a ton of bricks.

For example, the word “News” is the plural of “new.” We can talk about something new happening. If we talk about several new things happening, it is the “news.” When I made that connection I remember thinking “wow,” I never thought of that. How did it take me this long to make that connection?

So… if you have a concern that we are rapidly loosing our rights to an ever more intrusive government.

Our “rights” are a collection of principles that we think are “right.” This was a profound revelation to me actually.

The dictionary defines a “right” as: noun

1.)  that which is morally correct, just, or honorable

Relativism has undermined our rights in several ways:

1) No one can say anything is a “right,” independent of a belief system that can define right and wrong. If we cannot collectively know what is right and wrong then it is not possible to have “rights.” The more murky right and wrong are, the less rights you have.

2) How could a relativist believe a right is inalienable? Seriously, how could a “right” be absolutely inalienable, when nothing is absolute?

3) If we (collectively) do not believe our rights are “inalienable” we will not defend them. We are loosing our rights because we do not believe they are inalienable.

Our founders believed that rights are from God and nothing the government does can take those rights away. Right and wrong are clear and independent of government. If rights are inalienable and government attempts to violate those rights, then the populace has moral authority to resist the government. (At some point, even the moral responsibility to resist.) This is the main reason for the second amendment… because our founders believed government will always be subject to corruption.

However, opposing a government is a big deal and it can have horrible consequences. Death. Prison. Why would a relativist ever oppose government (if they were not personally under attack)? I mean… if I cannot definitively say who is right and wrong… why take a chance?

(On another side note most Americans have no idea what a “right” is… but that is another discussion. Arrrg. For example, when someone says, everyone has a right to go to college… it makes me so sad.)

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN ON SUNDAYS–

A little girl asked her Mom,
“Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?”

Mom replies,
“No, because she is in heat.”

“What’s that mean?” asked the child.

“Go ask your father. I think he’s in the garage.”

The little girl goes to the garage and says,
“Dad, may I take Belle for a walk around the block?

I asked Mom, but she said the dog was in heat, and to come to you.”

Dad said, “Bring Belle over here.”

Being old school he took a rag, soaked it with a little gasoline, and dabbed the dog’s backside with it to disguise the scent, and said,
“OK, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and only go one time round the block.”

The little girl left and returned a few minutes later with no dog on the
leash. Surprised, Dad asked, “Where’s Belle?”

The little girl said, “She ran out of gas about halfway around the
block, so another dog is pushing her home.”

Formula DRIFT TEST and TUNE Nights
Come Home to “The House of Drift”
Irwindale Speedway: Thursday, June 12

Irwindale, Calif
. – -They’re baaack … Those tire-smoking, slideways, screaming Formula DRIFT machines, and they’re back where the legend got its start: Irwindale Speedway.

Located only about twenty-five minutes east of downtown L.A., Irwindale is deeply imbedded in the psyche of every drift racer and every drift fan across the globe. For more than a decade now, Irwindale has been known world-wide as “The House of Drift”, a name that the first of the pro Drifters from Japan bestowed on the facility very early-on.

Perhaps the most photographed, and by far the best attended of all the drift venues that came after it, Irwindale is still universally respected as the toughest of them all. It’s the storied place where legends are wrought and championships became part of the folklore … living history.

So there’s great news that, starting on June 12, the famed track will stage a series of very special Thursday night “test and tune”-type sessions open to all drift drivers from the top pros to the earliest beginners. These events will be run under the guidance and control of the Formula DRIFT organization.

“These events will not only cater to amateurs, but also to the professional teams who would like to test and tune their competition vehicles,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “Drivers of all skill levels will be able to interact with each other and amateurs will be able to receive valuable tips from the pros. We’re excited to give the drivers some additional practice time at a place like Irwindale Speedway.”

And the best news of all is that fans are invited to come out and watch all the fun as the heroes and the soon-to-be-heroes take their shots at the storied Formula DRIFT course at Irwindale.

The events will begin on Thursday, June 12 and continuing for five designated Thursday nights thereafter (July 24, August 14, September 25, November 13 and December 18) in 2014.

Formula DRIFT will set up three graduated practice race courses within the Irwindale oval. Each of the progressively longer, faster and more technical courses will serve the needs of three different levels of drift drivers. The layouts will range from the most basic configuration to the full-out pro circuit that will be used for the final event in the 2014 Formula Drift Championship on October 10/11, 2014.

$1500 ICON Motorsports apparel package

Johnny Scheff, Carl Peshof, Todd Ligman, Ken Rudoy – these guys are dynamic leaders in the industry and the success they’ve had with their dealerships is a testament to the vibrant Triumph culture that we all love.”

About the Triumph X British Customs Iron Moto Challenge at Motoblot 2014:

The resulting “pre-builds” will be voted on by the general public on June 13th on the British Customs Facebook Page, and the people’s choice will weigh in towards the final scores. To see what kind of BC parts the builders might use on their creations, check out the British Customs myList.

The final builds will come to fruition live during the show on June 14th and the winner will be decided by a panel of judges comprised of custom influencers Julian Heppekausen of Deus Ex Machina, Brian Klock of Klock Werks Kustom Cycles, Kevin Dunworth of Loaded Gun Customs, and Christy Lee of All Girls Garage. The builds will be judged on their curb appeal, paint quality, and of course performance and hoonability! VIOLA V-TWIN COMPLETE CLUTCH INSTALLATION SERVICE KITS–

Apologies for sending this one again, but this time it has the correct year groups in the chart…

As you may be aware, S&S Cycle’s Viola V-Twin line of service parts added clutch plates from Alto to the product line. Well, anyone who’s held a wrench knows that you need more than just clutch plates to repair a clutch. Now we are pleased to announce that we’ve bundled them together with the additional gaskets you’ll need to do the job right! No hardware is included since the stock hardware is just about always reusable.

The real point of these service kits is that with one part number you can order everything you’ll need to repair a stock Harley-Davidson clutch. The time you save by not having to search for individual parts, is time you can spend fixing bikes and bringing in revenue. Kits are available for a number of big twin applications from 1984 to present. See the Chart for more part numbers.

SCTA BONNEVILLE OFFICIAL COURSE REPORT–Our course prep team just returned from Utah laying out the FOUR race courses and dragging them. Perfect timing this year and the salt condition is excellent.

The # 1 course (long) has 8 miles at this point in time and we will get another 2 miles when we return. The salt is very thin in the shut down area and needs a little more time to finish the ends of the courses.

Put your best tune in the car (or bike) because we are going to have some great courses this year. Thanks team G (private joke) for all the help.

WEEKEND GUN NUT ALERT-

California: Time to Put Pressure on the Legislature Again

Please call TODAY– SB 53 and AB 1964 have hearings scheduled for Tuesday

Friday, May 30 was the last day for bills to pass their legislative chamber of origin. Accordingly, it?s time to contact your state legislators urging them to OPPOSE all anti-gun legislation.

Anti-gun legislators still haven?t figured out that stripping law-abiding citizens of their rights does nothing to stop criminal activity.

The anti-gun bills below are scheduled to be heard this Tuesday, June 10. Please call members of the respective committees TODAY! Contact information for committee members is listed with each bill.

Senate Bill 53 would require the purchasers of ammunition to register with the state Department of Justice (DOJ) prior to purchasing any ammunition. This registration would require the submission of fingerprints, a background check and fees to the DOJ. SB 53 is expected to be heard in the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, June 10. Contact information for the committee can be found here.

Assembly Bill 1964 would remove existing exemptions for all single-shot pistols, other than those with a break top or bolt action, from California?s roster of ?not safe? handguns. AB 1964 is expected to be heard in the Senate Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, June 10. Contact information for the committee can be found here.

The anti-gun bills below have passed in the state Senate. Please call AND e-mail your Assemblyman TODAY urging him or her to OPPOSE these anti-gun bills:

Senate Bill 199 would ban the sale/transfer of used and antique BB devices and imitation firearms that are not colored, as specified. Congress preempted state law and stated that federal statute would supersede any state or local laws requiring ?markings or identification inconsistent with provisions? of the federal statute. 15 U.S.C. §5001(g). In addition, federal statute specifically prohibits a state from banning the sale of traditional air guns. SB 199 is expected to be heard in the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, June 24. Contact information for the committee can be found here.

Senate Bill 808 would impose heavy restrictions and costly fees on the ability to make, or even assemble a personal firearm. SB 808 is expected to be heard in the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, June 24. Contact information for the committee can be found here.

The anti-gun bills below have passed in the Assembly. Please call AND e-mail your state Senator TODAY urging him or her to OPPOSE these anti-gun bills:

Assembly Bill 1014 would allow any person to seek a gun violence restraining order? against another person. A court would be permitted to issue the order based only on a person?s affidavit that ?the named person poses a significant risk of personal injury to himself or herself or others by possessing firearms.? If the court is satisfied that the affidavit is correct, then the court can issue an order prohibiting the named person from possessing firearms. This extremely dangerous bill would essentially allow any person to create a firearms prohibition on any other person. A committeehearing date has not been scheduled at this time.

Assembly Bill 1609 would impose unnecessary limitations on the transfer of firearms by law-abiding citizens, requiring that all transfers be completed through a California gun dealer, regardless of the circumstances. A committeehearing date has not been scheduled at this time.

Assembly Bill 2310 would reenact provisions authorizing a city prosecutor or city attorney in specified counties to file an action for unlawful detainer to abate a nuisance caused by any illegal conduct involving firearms or ammunition. A committee hearing date has not been scheduled at this time.

BLOND ON A COLORADO RANCH–
A blonde city girl named Sue marries a Colorado rancher. One morning, on his way out to check on the cows, the rancher says to Sue, “The insemination man is coming over to impregnate one of our cows today.
I drove a nail into the 2 by 4 just above where the cow’s stall is in the barn so you can tell which one. Please show him where the cow is when he gets here, OK?”

The rancher leaves for the field, and after a while the artificial insemination man arrives and knocks on the front door. “I came to inseminate the cow,” he says.

Sue takes him down to the barn. They walk along the row of cows, and when Sue sees the nail, she tells him, “This is the one right here.”

The man, assuming he is dealing with an airhead blonde, asks, “Tell me lady, because I’m dying to know, how would YOU know that this is the right cow to be bred?”

“That’s simple”, she confidently explains, “By the nail that’s over its stall”.

Laughing rudely at her, the man says, “And what, pray tell, is the nail for”?

The blonde turns to walk away and says sweetly over her shoulder, “I guess it’s to hang your pants on.”

(It’s nice to see a blonde winning … once in awhile.)

Harley-Davidson Helps You Avoid a Gifting Roadblock

A survey, commissioned by Harley-Davidson, of more than 1,200 American dads about past Father’s Day gifts and experiences revealed some tough love: More than half confessed to receiving a gift they did not like as well as receiving the same type of gift more than once; and nearly a third have suffered a Father’s Day in which family members forgot about them.

If you’re a dad, it’s time to drop some hints about good gift ideas by creating and sharing a Wish List on www.h-d.com/fathersday. If you’re getting dad a gift, here are some new Genuine MotorClothes items that will make him happy:

LET’S GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE—A brother is considering buying an Indian and we may make a run to a dealership to check out the bikes, do a little road testing, check the financing, and the massive extended warranty. Very impressive.

I’ll be riding a new Indian to the SmokeOut later this month. In the meantime, I’m trying like hell to finish my winged-wheel art piece for the front of the building with a Ride Wright wheel, plus I need about three or four quiet days to read and edit my last Chance fiction endeavor.

And this week, I will hit a few more features, and we will try like hell to wrap up our tech on the new JIMS 135-inch Indians.

In the meantime, let’s get the hell out of here for a ride, experience a spiritual moment, or go find a new redhead.

Ride Free Forever,

–Bandit
