LADY LUCK COMES TO VEGAS

It was dusk when I rolled into Vegas and the strip was lit up like the Aurora Borealis. I found the Crown casino with no problem and pulled the Shovelhead into a safe parking spot. It was right in view of the security office, and I stopped by to chat with the watchman to make sure she was safe.

I checked in and headed up to my room to clean up a bit. It had been a long stretch on the oilrig this time and after 21 days straight with nothing but 10 guys and bad food, I needed R&R. Some 500 miles on the Shovelhead did a lot to clear my head. I had to shake the stress of work and that ride helped. I had a lot of time to think while crossing the desert, and as I pulled into Vegas the last of my troubles disappeared.

Room 777, a two-room suite was just what I needed, king size bed and plenty of space. I get claustrophobic after too long out on a job. A hot shower did me wonders. Getting all the oil and grit washed off; I felt much better, but no bed needed now. I put on my best black t-shirt, jeans, vest, shined up my boots and headed to the casino. I cashed my paycheck and had a sizeable bankroll for the weekend, needed to see if luck was with me.

Stopping at a blackjack table with a cute blond dealer, I asked for $1000 in chips and sat down. I started out slowly with mixed results on the first few hands betting table minimums. The cocktail waitress came by and I ordered a Stranahan’s Whisky neat. I found this whiskey in Colorado and it quickly became my drink of choice.

I was starting to feel the luck coming my way when a tall brunette came and sat next to me. She asks for $100 in chips and gave me a cool smile. Her eyes were green, deep and inviting. Her lips had a little pout and turned up just slightly on the right side only. A quick glance at her extraordinary figure and I had to take a deep breath.

Back to the game, I was dealt a 10 on top, and she had an 8 showing. The dealer flashed a 6. My whiskey arrived and it was a double, if not more, and after giving the waitress a well-deserved tip I took a long pull from the glass. It quickly washed the rest of the last 21 days away. Without looking I pushed $500 forward and motioned to stay.

The brunette looked at me and in a smooth creamy voice asked what I thought she should do, stating she was new to this game. We looked at her cards and with 2 eights we split the hand. She was dealt a 10 and a 9 and we raised her bet to $25. The dealer turned over another 6 and then dealt the house a 10, bust. I turned over an Ace, blackjack. I looked to the delicious brunette and we both laughed.

The cards lost their interest. I couldn’t keep my eyes away from her milky cleavage, her rosy warm cheeks, her wavy amber hair, and those sparkling emerald eyes. I was melting and scrambling for the right words. Finally, I ask if she was hungry and she nodded and her fingers touched my leg under the table. I took a deep breath and attempted to remain calm as we headed off to the dark, sultry, warm hotel steak house.

As we sat down at a quiet table in a corner, I ask her name. “Mary,” she said with a slight smirk, “and yours?”

“My friends call me Thumper,” was my reply and then I had to give her the history of the nickname and explain all about my former life as a bouncer. Our steaming steaks came and we enjoyed them and some small talk. I had another Stranahan’s and she drank Champagne. I didn’t worry about the tab; I was on R&R and didn’t expect to take any winnings home. As we finished our drinks I felt her knee against mine. I leaned in close and kissed her.

What is it about a first kiss? It’s either fire or dry toast. This was the kind of fire that warms a man’s soul. Her lips were as soft as a cloud, but warm as fresh pancakes coated in butter. I kissed her again, and just teased her tongue, then kissed her cheek, and felt her warm palm slip up my thigh. My heart kicked into overdrive.

I knew then I didn’t need to ask, but after dinner I clumsily formed the words, would she like to come up for a nightcap, and soon we were back in room 777. From the moment I opened the door we were in each other’s arm groping and squeezing. I broke free just long enough to order room service. I ordered a bottle of Champaign on ice and Stranahan’s for me with some dessert for later. Strawberries is what I remember hearing most women like.

After serious wrestling on the couch I excused myself to the bathroom. When I came back she was not where I had left her. I called her name and heard a giggle from the bedroom. As I walked into the bedroom I saw a vision of beauty almost naked on my bed. Brunette hair falling over her shoulders leading the way down to the finest breast God has ever made. I thought, “A man could get lost in those,” and I planned to.

Setting there with a little grin on her lips she said, “Come on let’s play!”

That was the start of the party. We played, if you know what I mean, all night long. We ordered room service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner the next day, and that was the only time the hotel room door was opened. We played and slept and played some more. The food and drink kept coming and kept us going. At about 1:00 am the next morning, I told Mary good night and it was the last thing I remembered. I awoke around noon and looked around the room, but she was gone. She just left this note on the coffee table.

I slept most of the next two days venturing out for meals and the occasional game of chance, and always to look for Mary. My R&R was over and it was time to jump on the Shovelhead and make my way back to Colorado. Another long shift was waiting for me. But this time Lady Luck did come visit me in Vegas.
