I took off early today from work, got tried of dealing with idiots. I just wanted to get an early start on the 3 day weekend and hook up with some partners and ride. While driving thinking about brothers lost many years ago. The cell phone rings. First thing I thought of was work and some bonehead got hurt and I was not around.

Bob3

I answered the call and it was a familiar voice. It was the son of old friend of mine who past a year ago almost to the day.

I hear, “Bob! I found a few more items of my dads, do you want them. Hell yea..His dad was Don “Snuffy” Smith. He was a great friend, Flat track racer, Machinist and the best Harley mechanic around. Don was the guy everyone went to if you could not find the right part. He would make it.

Bob5

There is a group of us that sometimes cursed at him for leaving us, but we all agree he is on that long endless road looking down at us laughing.

Bob6

Well, I got to ole Snuffys house and his son had a small box for me. We BS`d for awhile and I split to home with my son in the sidecar lovin’ every minute of it.

When I got home I went thru the box, What a treasure of great paper work from back in the day. One of Snuffy’s personal H-D manuals, it was well used but with the character of a mechanic.

Blue prints from Harley with W. J. Harley`s approved stamp on the back. How cool is that. “I just had to share this great find for Veterans Day 2005.
